~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
This is a good thing, be calm!!! This means now you have enough time to go spend a day in your favourite park!! :banana: That's what we are doing - our flight doesn't go until almost 8pm, so we are heading off to MK to do some people watching, then Beaches and Cream for a late lunch . . . I need a No Way Hose to get me through a 9 hour flight!
Ok, Guys I need some help.....I've been pulling my hair out:headache: I've been on the phone with WDW and they told me they don't know how people go to the park to kill time waiting on a late flight?!!!:confused: Then, I called DCL and they told me the same thing. That they don't see it as a fesable idea!!!!!!:sad2:
We would like to take your advice and consider going to a park until that night. Our flight is around 8:45pm that evening. Please pm me with any info you guys might have on how to do this, such as transportation, luggage. ect.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!! :flower3: :flower3: :hug: :flower3: :flower3:
That stinks, Bella! Maybe you can hit the parks that day, then.
I got an email from American this morning with another flight change. This is the 2nd time they have changed our flight since I booked it :headache:
Now we'll be sitting in Dallas for an extra hour instead of exploring Port Canaveral. Geez.
I didn't even know that they *could* change our flights that way.
We have booked our excursions:
Key West on our own
GC: Boatswain's Adventure Marine Park
Coz: Dolphin push, pull, swim
CC: Stingray adventure
Hey there! WOW, we are flying in and out of Dallas Ft. Worth too!! Oh and we have the same shore excursion booked for GC!!:cool1: :banana: :dance3: :cheer2:
Hi Everyone... My name is Demetris and I along with my family will be joining you on the 5/16 cruise. My DH is 35,DS 9 DD 3 and I am 32... I feel like I know you guys since I have been lurking for months... :) I finally got the courage and decided to post. :laughing: You guys are so nice and warm sooo I decided to come out of hiding.
:welcome: Glad to have you guys aboard!!!:welcome: This is an awesome group!!!!
Here's what I would do...
Arrange a rental car at the port for the morning you get off the ship. Get off as early as possible and get your car. Head to the park of your choice and just pay to park. (I'd suggest Animal Kingdom because it's smaller and has more to do, but you could do any park...) Enjoy the park, but know that it takes 45-60 minutes to get to the airport with traffic and all and another 60 minutes to get through security. (So, leave at LEAST 2 hours prior to you flight.) I figure you could be inside the park by 10:30 am and stay until 6:30 pm or so... Most people probably don't see this as a good option because of the very high price for a 1 day pass...
Its good that Disney tried to help you! :sad2: How can they not see it as feasible?!:confused3 We have a hire car so just leave the cases in the car all day (actually we are even luckier that that - the last couple of years Virgin Atlantic have done a check-in at DTD during the day, so we just take our cases there after the cruise, then we only have to get to the airport an hour before the flight as we are already checked in, which is great). I would definitely hire a car for the day from Port Canaveral that can be dropped at the airport - its got to be better than killing all that time in an airport? If not if you are on Disney transport, would they not take you to a disney hotel and let you stash your cases there during the day?
Hi everyone..My husband and I have just signed on to this cruise to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. So we will be joining you guys & Gals.
So traveling will be my hubby (Mike), myself (Shauna) and our 3 (almost 4) year old son (Christopher).
We are No strangers to the Disney cruise, as this will be my son and my 4th Disney Cruise, hubby's 3rd. I have traveled on the Wonder twice and the Magic once before, hubby has traveled one on each, I tease because my son has been on as many Disney cruises as he is old...one for each year of his life so far. although since he isnt quite 4 yet, he will be a year ahead for good measure. :lmao:
Our Past Cruises on Disney:
Wonder Sept. 30-Oct 4,2007 (4 Day)
Magic Oct. 11-Oct. 18,2008 (Eastern Caribbean)
Wonder (Chris and myself) Feb. 1-4,2009 (4 Day)
We will be in room # 6138 and we have chosen late seating for dinner (what we have always done, and always hope to do).
I will add a pic of us later, most people recognize us by Christopher...since he is the one running around, talking 100 miles an hour. LOL
Well I look forward to meeting everyone. :grouphug:
Thanks everyone for the warm WELCOME!! I am very new to this so if my posts are confusing please forgive me... I will learn eventually... :)
I wanted to know more about the T-REX restaurant.. I have heard positive things about it. My son loves Jurassic park.. I am assuming its themed similarly to that movie... Has anyone been there before and if so does anyone have the phone number so that I can make a ressie...
WELCOME TO OUR CRUISE!!:cheer2: (On a random note, my parents names are Michael and Shauna. Nice!)
Just so you know, we are cutting off the FE date on April 1st! :D
Also, for the FE List, is there a way you can put These people doing FE, these people not confirmed on it? My gift is by stateroom. So I get confused looking at the list. Thanks!
Wow thats interesting that your parents names are Shauna and Mike...Shauna is quite unusual a name, especially spelled the same way and to find another Shauna & Michael out there is quite funny. I told my hubby and we were saying that maybe we were in an alternate universe or something :lmao:
I dont think that I will be signing up for the FE exchange this time :sad1: Hubby was forced to go with me the last time and although he says that he had fun at the time, he said that he prefers to not do it this time :scared1: But I wish you all the best in your FE exchange :flower3:
Oh Im not sure if you guys want to know ages, but Im 27 and Mike is 30...and I think I did mention that Chris is 3 (almost 4) going onto 30 LOL :rotfl: Yes we did get married young..I was only 17, Mike was 20 (my parents had to sign for me) :eek: But anyhoo enough of me...onto talking about the cruise :goodvibes
One thing you could do, and it is FREE, is to resort hop.
Great tip :thumbsup2 I love resort hopping and it's always so easy to catch a boat or bus or monorail.
This is me (excuse the terribly over excited face) with my No Way Hose. Its from Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. It is without a doubt to die for!!!!!!!!!! And yes - it is as big as it looks!!!
I think I just gained 10 lbs from looking at this picture! Awhile back I posted that my working is sending me to a 2 day training at the Boardwalk, I'll be all alone :guilty: but I'm seriously considering walking over to Beaches and Cream and order one of those gigantic desserts and eat to my hearts content.
Hi Everyone... My name is Demetris and I along with my family will be joining you on the 5/16 cruise. I finally got the courage and decided to post. :laughing: You guys are so nice and warm sooo I decided to come out of hiding.
Welcome! So glad that you decided to post and join us!
WOO HOOO!!!! My passport just arrived. Took only 3 weeks to get.
Good deal, we actually got ours in just under 2 weeks, I was shocked but the pictures are very unflattering. :scared1:
Is it also true you can make your own ice-cream cookie sandwiches on deck 9?! I love me an icecream cookie sandwich!
What's this about ice cream sandwiches onboard? I must find out more. This made me think though, did any of you see the post a few weeks back on the guy with the video on how to make a milkshake on board??? I must give him a big :thumbsup2 for his creativity.
Hi everyone..My husband and I have just signed on to this cruise to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary.
Welcome to you too! We keep on growing!!! :goodvibes
Welcome to our cruise!!!!!
Serenity Bay (which is where I'm sure you'll be spending your CC beach time) is VERY rocky and hard on the tootsies...even in the water. I would DEFINITELY recommend some sort of shoes. I didn't specifically have water shoes, but I have some Keen sandals that are water wearable. I tried without them and didn't get very far before turning back to go get them.
Val -- thanks for the tip! Now I have a very good reason to buy the cute shoes from Costco!
I'm pretty sure that the plan is that we will be driving down to FL Thursday evening & stay at our house there. Then we will drive to the cruise port on Saturday (we WILL be there by 10am, I don't care who I leave behind!) :rotfl:
You have a house in FL Amanda? How cool is that?!? Do you get FL rates for that? Yoni's uncle has considered buying a house in FL but hasn't pulled the trigger so far. Need to figure out if I can make that work to my advantage.:rolleyes1
You all have been busy posting! I have about 50 pages to catch up on now! LOL! Welcome to everyone who has joined since I posted last. Work has been insane lately.
We have booked our excursions:
Key West on our own
GC: Boatswain's Adventure Marine Park
Coz: Dolphin push, pull, swim
CC: Stingray adventure
and we did get our request for Main Seating! YAY!
Do we have a final meet-up planned? (Don't want to miss it as I browse the pages! hee!)
Sara
Hi Sara!!!! It's good to hear from you again! We are doing the Stingray adventure in CC too! I wanted to do the Dolphin thing but decided to wait until Kai (my 4 year old) is a bit bigger so he can enjoy too.
As of right now, we have 42 adult requests & 17 youth requests.
.......to order and receive them. I'll let you know when I get the final count what the cost is.
Thanks for doing this Amanda! I am good with whatever you decide!
Hi Everyone... My name is Demetris and I along with my family will be joining you on the 5/16 cruise. My DH is 35,DS 9 DD 3 and I am 32... I feel like I know you guys since I have been lurking for months... :) I finally got the courage and decided to post. :laughing: You guys are so nice and warm sooo I decided to come out of hiding.
I would like to join the FE group. I have been thinking about it for a while... This is our second 7 day Disney Cruise... we cruised the eastern on the Magic over Halloween 2007...
I have sucessfully convinced my brother and sister in law to cruise with us this time. They have a 3 year old DS as well. We have 2 cate 12 rooms...
:cheer2: WELCOME!!!! :cheer2: We are glad to have you start posting! A Halloween cruise --HOW FUN!
WOO HOOO!!!! My passport just arrived. Took only 3 weeks to get. *phew* Time to check that off my to-do list....
They are fast right now! I got my renewal in about a week. I paid extra for it to be expedited -- what a waste of money!!!
I am awake . . . just!! Thank you for your comments . . . what can I say . . . I truly am a piggy!!!!!!!! I used to be quite good until I met Tony, that man led me astray!:rotfl:
You all had better get to Cove Cafe before me, if what I have heard about it is true:rotfl2: I am not going to be able to resist! Is it also true you can make your own ice-cream cookie sandwiches on deck 9?! I love me an icecream cookie sandwich!
Oh T-Rex - we are booked to go there. I can't wait to try it! Is the kitchen sink as good as I think it is?!
I am so impressed. I was telling Yoni about it. Of course he was just thinking I was insane (as I obviously am) for spending so much time reading TRs but hey -- I think it is a VALUABLE use of my time!
Ok, as for T-Rex -- I want to try that. Do you need a reservation? Is it in DTD?
And yes, Adam and I can eat! I haven't read your whole report, but we like food. Adam can almost finish a large pizza alone (yes...he's the thin one) and downed all but 2 cookies in the Girl Scout cookie box yesterday! (This is normal for him...I get 2 cookies and he finishes the box!) .......BTW While typing this, I asked Adam whether he preferred the shuttle launch or day at Disney and he IMMEDIATELY voted Disney...so we may be at WDW Friday and just head to the hotel late that night!
Loucinda -- you guys sound like us. I opened a box of thin mints last night (yes, still with the dang girl scout cookies) and ate a few with my glass of milk. Yoni in the meantime plows them 2 at a time into his mouth. Where is the enjoyment in that?
Oh, and I asked Yoni last night -- see the shuttle or go to a park. Even though we have never seen a shuttle launch -- without hesitation "go to the park". I guess he does love WDW :lovestruc
Ok, Guys I need some help.....I've been pulling my hair out:headache: I've been on the phone with WDW and they told me they don't know how people go to the park to kill time waiting on a late flight?!!!:confused: Then, I called DCL and they told me the same thing. Belinda -- don't pull your hair out! :scared1: We only have 9 weeks until the cruise! ;) No seriously, I think you could make it work if you rent a car (more comments on that in a sec).
Here's what I would do...
Arrange a rental car at the port for the morning you get off the ship. Get off as early as possible and get your car. Head to the park of your choice and just pay to park. Ok, so love this idea BUT every place I look for a car rental the day of the 23rd is super expensive. Has anyone out there found a deal for the day of the 23rd?
I will add a pic of us later, most people recognize us by Christopher...since he is the one running around, talking 100 miles an hour. LOL
Well I look forward to meeting everyone. :grouphug:
WELCOME!!!! :cheer2: We will be down the hall from you in #6568! We also have a 4 year old son so maybe Christopher and Kai (my DS) will be in the club together!!!!:dance3:
What's this about ice cream sandwiches onboard? I must find out more. This made me think though, did any of you see the post a few weeks back on the guy with the video on how to make a milkshake on board??? I must give him a big :thumbsup2 for his creativity.
Ok, all this food talk -- I am seriously thinking need to go on a serious diet as soon as my MIL leaves just so I can "gain" the weight back on while on the cruise! Would hate to think of how things would fit otherwise by day 7!!!!:scared1:
Ah -- almost forgot. One quick question -- have any of you guys ever used Tour Guide Mike's plans? Someone mentioned this to me and wondering if I should check it out.....
Welcome Shauna and family! :banana:
Mati: Sorry, but I don't know how to get a good car deal...:sad2: The water shoes are a MUST for cruising. I splurged on our last cruise and bought water shoes from Lands End that I LOVE! They are like tennis shoes, so I can walk miles in them (with socks), then just put the socks in my snorkel bag and hit the water. But...they are a tad more expensive...
We are going to leave Thursday when Adam gets home from work. We can stay 4.5 hours from home with my friend in central GA, 6.5 hours at my parents or grandparents home in south GA (but it's 30 minutes off the interstate), 8 hours in Jacksonville, FL at one of our condos (though we'd have to bring stuff as they are empty for renters/buyers) or my sister's house, or somewhere between! I'm thinking somewhere in way south GA or north FL would be good, then we'd only be 3 hours from Orlando.
I'm thinking we'll be in Orlando all day on Friday! (Probably won't make the shuttle launch.) I would LOVE to go in the parks, but I refuse to pay $133 for a park hopper or $80 for a single park. :scared1: It's just too much $$! We'll probably stick with DTD...
I guess the final decisions will be made that Thursday since we don't know how far we will feel like driving! My plans seem to change on a dime!:laughing: You all are bad influences on me!
:woohoo: :banana: Welcome To our NEW Members!!!!:banana: :woohoo:
Well, no more stress about them changing us to a later flight out when our cruise ends on Saturday!
:thumbsup2 My hubby said screw it, call and add a two night post stay at WDW!!:cool1: :banana: :dance3: :cheer2: :yay:
I LOVE MY HUBBY!!!:lovestruc We didn't really want to leave anyway!!!:rotfl:
We were at Amimal Kingdom this past January. I watched a show about the park on the travel channel. It is actually Disney's largest park. I knew we missed a lot, but really didn't know how much until I watched the show. The park has shorten hours due to the animals. There is a parade, but no fireworks.
Now that is what I call a GREAT plan!!!! :banana: :banana: We are staying 2 nights -- how can you not -- it is Memorial Day weekend!!!!
Welcome Shauna and family! :banana:
Loucinda -- it's ok. We have been trying to figure out transportation options. The ride out there with a rental is super reasonable, it is the ride home that seems pricey.
I saw the Land's End shoes in my catalog. I may just have to do that -- they look nice and yes, a bit pricey but worth it if I wear them like crazy. I bought a pair of shoes from the disney outlet and meant to return them but forgot and now the 30 days are up. I decided to go ahead and wear them since I can't return them and they cut into my heel immediately walking ONE BLOCK to my neighbors -- *sigh*.
I know $80 a day for WDW is outrageous. I have been trying and trying to figure out what might make sense for use (no expiration option, buying 10 day passes and saving?). It is difficult to think of spending more than $500 for 2 days at WDW and not getting anything out of it in the future.
Ok, off to bed. Yoni gets up early for his INS interview. If all goes well he will be a citizen by the time we cruise!!!!
Thank you all so kindly for the welcomes :grouphug:
Thankfully we live here in FL (although still 3 hours from the port) but I grew up there in Cape Canaveral...my mom lives there in Cocoa, so Im guessing we will stay with her or maybe since it is in celebration of our 10 year anniversary, we can stay at the Raddison there where our wedding reception was 10 years ago!! (A gorgeous place I must add) :lovestruc
WELCOME!!!! We will be down the hall from you in #6568! We also have a 4 year old son so maybe Christopher and Kai (my DS) will be in the club together!!!!
That is so cool, Yea Chris is very...whats the word...umm...CLINGY! I keep thinking that maybe one time he will surprise us and stay in the kids club. He loves to go and loves to play, but only with us there! :rolleyes: Last 7 day cruise we even had him meet a friend but he still wouldnt stay. :sad2: I have signed him up this time though, thinking that ya never know what a few months will do for his indepence level and that IF he wants to go, he will be all signed up:rolleyes1
Im sure you will recognize that I am from the DIS boards from our stateroom door...Im one of the ones from here that always has magnets from top to bottom :laughing:
Well, no more stress about them changing us to a later flight out when our cruise ends on Saturday!
What a great hubby!!! I wish we could extend our stay too, oh well I guess I'll just have to convince him on another Disney vacation. He's slowly becoming a Disney convert! ;)
Hi Demetris and welcome to the cruise (glad you came out of hiding). I've added you to the FE list. Please let me know if both cabins will be participating. I send out an updated list weekly. Please PM me your email address and I'll add you to the distribution list.
Here's what I would do...
Arrange a rental car at the port for the morning you get off the ship. Get off as early as possible and get your car. Head to the park of your choice and just pay to park. (I'd suggest Animal Kingdom because it's smaller and has more to do, but you could do any park...) We've rented a car through Budget (I have a FastBreak number for work) so the rate is only $37.81. Check with your company to see if they have any corporate discounts that you can use. If you belong to a credit union you can try there as well. The three companies that are listed in the Passporter as having shuttles from the port to the rental agencies are Budget, Avis and Hertz. They also recommend checking out www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html for current discount codes.
Hi everyone..My husband and I have just signed on to this cruise to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. So we will be joining you guys & Gals.
So traveling will be my hubby (Mike), myself (Shauna) and our 3 (almost 4) year old son (Christopher).
Welcome to our group!!!
Also, for the FE List, is there a way you can put These people doing FE, these people not confirmed on it? My gift is by stateroom. So I get confused looking at the list. Thanks!
The list is separated first by those included in the FE Group, but I'll try and make it more obviouse.
I saw the Land's End shoes in my catalog. I may just have to do that -- they look nice and yes, a bit pricey but worth it if I wear them like crazy. I bought a pair of shoes from the disney outlet and meant to return them but forgot and now the 30 days are up. I decided to go ahead and wear them since I can't return them and they cut into my heel immediately walking ONE BLOCK to my neighbors -- *sigh*.
I know $80 a day for WDW is outrageous. I have been trying and trying to figure out what might make sense for use (no expiration option, buying 10 day passes and saving?). It is difficult to think of spending more than $500 for 2 days at WDW and not getting anything out of it in the future.
Ok, off to bed. Yoni gets up early for his INS interview. If all goes well he will be a citizen by the time we cruise!!!!
Mati - check out the website that I listed for Belinda - I've never used it, but it might help.
I love the look of the shoes on Lands End. I'm a chicken about ordering and paying for shipping and then have them not fit. They do look really cool.
We're only going to be at the park 7 days but bought 10 day passes with no expiration dates. We know we'll be going back since we are DVC members so we just consider it an investment. Heck the way the stock market is going it will probably have a better return on investment than some stock.
Best of luck to Yoni on his interview. That's one more thing we can celebrate on the cruise!
I'm off to watch my recording of Amazing Race. Tomorrow AI!!
Hi guys! I am just doing a quick check-in to let you know that we are still alive here! It's been about 10 days since I've been on the boards! I think I have 21 pages to catch up on:upsidedow I think it might take a while!
I will catchup and comment tomorrow (hopefully)! Hope everyone is well and having fun shopping!
