~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
hey all, sorry for not being so active. did we decide on the fe cut off date and how many total participants? I want to do my order soon!
The cut off date is going to be April 1.
Does anyone know if the shuttle launch has been delayed for sure or not? Im only asking because the hotel we are staying at is $100 a night, if there is no shuttle were going to stay at Daytona Beach (My fav place in the world)!!! and I can get a hotel for $60... Big savings for us!! :rotfl:
Funny you should ask about the shuttle we were just checking that last night. They also have one scheulded for May 12 from the same platform. I just don't think they can do that quick of a turn around. We're going to keep our fingers crossed anyway for a launch during that week sometime.
Andy - we are trying to figure out what to do after we get off the ship on Saturday before we fly home. Would you recommend Daytona Beach? Do you have any tips on what we should do/go/places to eat?
Jane
Darn it on the shuttle launch!!! We are flying in on the 15th at 11PM, so we'll miss it. :( I wish my hubby could see a shuttle launch live, they are SO cool!!!
****CRUISE DEAL ALERT********
I was just in Costco and I found a great deal on some water shoes!! They are Speedo and feel just like a croc. Lightweight, covers your toes, comfortable. Very decent price of $20.
Here is mine:
l_7a26da14fdee448e9d49f6bdb6b77c01.jpg
They had them in black and pink. So go check out your local Costco for some.
FYI- I found them on speedousa.com and they are $35! So it's a great find at Costco!
Also, according to NASA's website, the shuttle launch is still targetted for May 15! I would LOVE to see it, but I'm not going to get my hopes up as these things get cancelled all the time. However, there is still hope!
Gosh darn it -- last time we looked it had been moved. Ok, that throws another wrench into things ---- if a shuttle launch will happen, we could go to the port the night before -- hmmmmmmmmmmm. Decisions decisions decisions.....:confused3
LOVE IT!!!!:cheer2: I am going to Costco on Tuesday after work to exchange a swimsuit --- dang Speedo, why are they cut so small? :rolleyes1
If they have them, JorDan, we can be twinkies! I am SO buying a pair but maybe in black ------ hmmmmm, more decisions!!! Thanks for the tip!
Hey guys,
Is either park better than the other one for two adults? We are also going to spend Saturday afternoon/evening at DTD. I am very excited!!!!
Sounds fun!!! Personally I probably like IA better. I would say if you are more of rides person do IA, both are nice though!
JorDan, love the shoes! I'd really like to get some water shoes but there are no Costcos around here, we do have a Sam's Club. Maybe I'll go there tomorrow on my lunch break and see if they have anything similar.
I did manage to find a new bathing suit that fits reasonably well (after trying on about 100). Arrg... I hate bathing suit shopping so I'm glad that's out of the way, but I would like to find a cute cover-up.
I'm watching Disney Celebration Cakes on Food Network right now!!! I wish I could have a piece. :cool1:
Why are you sorry Belinda? If it weren't for you -- we would have probably been on page 4!!!! ;) I did have a good movie night.
I am struggling with something right now along the same lines. We arrive at in Orlando the night of the 14th and depart the 25th. That gives us all of Friday before the cruise (and now Yoni doesn't have to work -- woo hoo!), the Saturday after we get off the cruise and all day Sunday. Do you go to the parks all 3 days, spend one bumming around and only go to 2 parks? I am trying to plan and am a bit lost. If you have a choice -- is it better to go to DTD or a park? AAAAAAA -- decisions decisions decisions...... Any advice on how much time we will have after we arrive back in PC on Saturday? Can I plan on going to a park that day?
For a minute.... I thought, oh no I did something wrong! :guilty: Silly me:)
What time is your flight out on Saturday? We are pondering the same thing. Our flight isn't out until almost 6pm. I told Shawn I'd kinda like to hit DTD if we have time to get there and back:thumbsup2
I LOVE THOSE!!!! I want a PINK pair! princess: I've never heard of Costco. We don't have anything like that around here. Thanks so much for sharing. I will go online and get them.
We've been looking for some water shoes!!!
Way to go! On finding a bathing suit!! I'm with you, I hate bathing suit shopping. HATE IT!!!:headache: I'm still in the process of looking for one.
Nothing ever seems to fit just right, I always look in the mirror and go arrrggg....:sad2:
It's a good thing you haven't heard of a Costo. They are EVIL!! It's a bulk shopping store. Always go in to look, come out spending WAY too much.
As for the shoes, they are called Buoy Watershoe
Also, I have a very narrow foot, but I wear a 7 1/2 and I had to get a size 6. So they fit a little bit big....not sure how it is for anyone else.
Andy - we are trying to figure out what to do after we get off the ship on Saturday before we fly home. Would you recommend Daytona Beach? Do you have any tips on what we should do/go/places to eat?
Jane
I would defiantly recommend (If anyones into cars or racing {Like ME}) going to Daytona International speedway! Its an amazing place to be, they have a track tour. ( I may be bias I used to race at that track when I was Racing the World Circuit a few years ago!!)
(Me Racing {In Front of course} :rotfl:)
The Harley Davidson shop is also AMAZING!!! its the biggest (Non-Walmart) Store i have ever seen!
And of course the beach is amazing... I just love the area, shopping, and of course the weather!!!
We arrive in Orland on the 14th also and will be staying at the Boardwalk. We plan to go to EPCOT on Friday 15th for the entire day. I hate paying the high price for just ONE day, but we are going to because we will not be back for some time. One thing you could do, and it is FREE, is to resort hop. Catch the boat at the Swan and Dolphin and go to either EPCOT or Disney's Hollywood Studios and then catch a bus to the Magic Kingdom. From the Magic Kingdom you can ride a boat to the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian, and Wilderness lodge. Then catch a boat back to the Magic Kingdom, and then a bus to Port Orleans, they have boats from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney. And then to wherever you want to go next. Of course you can mix it up anyway you like. When my kids were younger they liked ridding the boats as much as a lot of the rides. Plus you can eat at any of the places you stop. There is also a really nice Putt-Putt course next to the Swan.
Good job Lynsey on getting a new swimsuit! I HATE to go swimsuit shopping and get mine at the most unlikely places. My favorite right now is a tankini I bought on clearance off the rack at Target -- yes, at Target. I think I paid $13 for both pieces....
You are financially fortunate to not have a Costco nearby. It is like Sam's Club but more consumer oriented rather than business oriented. They have some awesome deals (like the swimshoes that JorDan got or my $24 speedo swimsuit) BUT I rarely get out of there for less than $200!
I love watching all of the cake decorating shows on the FN!
Ditto you too Belinda on the financial freedom from Costco! IT is a great place but oh so dangerous.
Ohhhh..why and I not surprised you have cute little feet JorDan? I have big feet to match my height -- oh wait, I am only 5'5" :laughing: -- where did these big feet come from? No seriously, I am glad you told me that about the sizes. Typically I buy something from costco in my normal size without even trying or comparing it to see if it will fit (they have a FABULOUS return policy) but this time, may try the shoes on before I buy them. Who knows -- maybe I will be a tiny little size 9? :lmao:
Wow Andy -- a Man after my husband's heart! :love: He used to love to do rally racing. He never toured anything (wow to that) but still thinks it is a blast. Unfortunately, I make him act all grown up now and we are spending our extra days with the Mouse. ;) ;)
Hey Andy! Boy my ears perked up when you said Harley Davidson shop!!!:thumbsup2
I immediately thought of Belinda & Val when I read that! You two Harley girls. Yoni has a Kawasaki ZX12R -- not quite a Harley.... Harley's are way cooler and way way more comfortable! :thumbsup2
Hi Tim! I think we are going to go to Epcot or HS on the 15th. After some discussions with Yoni, we decided to take advantage of the parks that day but only the ones close by. Probably Epcot since we do have dinner ressies that night at the Swan. We are staying at the Swan the 14th and 15th. I think on the 23rd (when we get back) we may do the resort hopping, pool loungine, DTD type of thing. We'll then do the other park (HS or Epcot) on the 24th. We head home on the 25th. The tixs are pricey :scared1: when you only go 1-3 days but the positive thing I see is it doesn't make sense to buy more than a day at a time (it is really almost the same price) and that at least gives you flexibility to change things up.
Ok, it is Spring Break for us so it will be an interesting week juggling Sabrina while me and Yoni (yeah again) try to work. She is going to Sea World on Thursday (in San Antonio) but otherwise gets to bum around with Mom. :eek: The sun finally came back out today after some much needed rain and the temp got back up to 72. It should be nice the rest of the week! :dance3:
Off to bed, think I am still recovering from a late night last night....:rolleyes1
Have a good start to the work week everyone!
Hello everyone. I just finished up with some online midterms and I am really looking forward to spring break! I think that we are going to take the kids camping at Lake Livingston toward the end of the week. Well DH and I (really just me) have been going back and forth about dinning. On our three previous cruises alone, we have always had late dinner so I thought that’s what we would do this time around. After reading all of your comments and the comments on the main board, I called my TA last week to get wait listed for main dining. I just logged in and we now have main dining! I guess our boat isn’t a full one yet. Hopefully main dining will work for us. I just didn’t want to have to sleepy children at dinner every night. Have you guys linked dining yet? I didn’t say much before because I didn’t know what to do but now that were confirmed we would like to link dinning as well if we still can.
Oh yeah, congrats to Yoni on the new job!:thumbsup2
We will also be spending 5/15 at Epcot thanks to my wonderful friend who works for Disney :). I had called her to tell her that we would be in Orlando for a day in case she could meet up with us. I told her that since we didn't have park tickets we would be hanging out at our resort pool (we're staying at Beach Club Villas). She insisted on giving us 4 of her comped one day park hopper tickets :) AND spending the day with us. Yay for a wonderful friend! Epcot is our favorite park and ~ a five minute walk from Beach Club Villas. I am a HUGE Off Kilter fan (the celtic rock band that plays in Canada in Epcot ~ Jamie the bagpiper is in my signature picture :)). They should be playing on that Friday, so I am totally pumped that I will be able to catch a few of their shows. We are having dinner at Chefs de France (in France, duh!), my son Jake's favorite restaurant in Epcot. In case you didn't know, Friday 5/15 is also extra magic hours for Disney resort guests at Epcot, so Epcot won't close until midnight :)!!! Luckily, the DCL bus doesn't pick us up until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday :)! Hope to see some of you in Epcot :)! ~ Kathy
I'm watching Disney Celebration Cakes on Food Network right now!!! I wish I could have a piece. :cool1:
I just got done watching the DCL show on Travel Channel from Friday! I wanted to watch the drydock show from earlier tonight on DIY, too, but I think I'm too tired...
The Harley Davidson shop is also AMAZING!!! its the biggest (Non-Walmart) Store i have ever seen!
I instantly asked Justin if he wanted to go there, depending on how far away Daytona is from PC, but he had some not-so-nice things to say about the owner :rolleyes1 (apparently he's very greedy :sad2: and has changed a lot of Daytona bike week just to benefit his pocketbook). So I guess we won't be going there.
Kathy, Thats great!!! We are having our private event at Epcot on the 15th at UK Pavallion Lower. I didn't know it was extra magic hour!!!:cool1: It is a good thing the buses don't pick us up early!!!
Maybe will see you around the park!
Ohhhh....that stinks:sad2: Shawn's not up for those kind of people. There are a couple of HD shops in Texas he won't even step foot in!!!
We have stayed at the Beach Club Villas several times but will be staying at the Boardwalk Villas this time. That is a great area. Remember that during May is the The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. We always eat lunch at the outdoors Mexican restaurant. The French restaurant is pretty good.
Oh they look great! Do I need watershoes then? Is Castaway Cay quite stoney? Though I really shouldn't buy anything else - Ii have been shopping the last 3 weekends and am out of control with buying cruise clothes!!!!!!!!
Also . . . has anyone done the SeaTrek in Grand Cayman before? I am wondering if I might need some water shoes for that (though I am still trying to talk Tony out of doing it, it sounds flipping horrendous!!)!
I just saw online that Remi from Ratatouille will visit you at your table at Chefs de France. Make sure you get pictures of that!
I need a No Way Hose to get me through a 9 hour flight!
Hi Tiffany!!! YOu must be so excited about Spring Break.
I did the same thing about Main Dining. I think the thing that got me was that most of the fun activities in the kids club are in the late dinner time slot. I will add you to the list. I haven't called it in yet -- I think we have a little time before we do that but certainly can link you up!
Thanks about the job -- hopefully all goes well this week!
Morning Kathy! VERY Cool about the free Tix. We didn't know that it was EMH at Epcot on that Friday. I think that settles it then, we will go there on Friday. Figure this way we can leave for dinner, then pick up the kids and go back. We are either driving in or taking a car to the Port in the AM so yes, we will be tired BUT it's all, good, we can rest on the ship!
My boss and her Husband are part of a Celtic band in Houston. She plays the tin whistle. :confused3
I just saw online that Remi from Ratatouille will visit you at your table at Chefs de France. Make sure you get pictures of that!
Very cool JorDan! You know the best tips on everything! Almost enough to make me book lunch there but not so sure I want to spend the $$$$ plus probably too late to get ressies....
Ohhhh, that is FRUSTRATING Belinda! I am so sorry -- I hate it when people put a wrench in things! I agree with Sonya thought -- make the best of it and go to a park or DTD or something fun like that.
Be ashamed . . . be very ashamed!
This is me (excuse the terribly over excited face) with my No Way Hose. Its from Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. It is without a doubt to die for!!!!!!!!!! And yes - it is as big as it looks!!!
