~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Ok, so tea may not work out. We are doing dinner at Palo Thursday night for DH birthday and I can't conceive doing brunch and dinner at Palo on the same day so am booking brunch for Sun or Mon and then tea for Mon or Thurs (can I do a tea at Palo and then a dinner on the same day?). If it weren't DH birthday I could move Palo dinner but promised him we would do dinner there that night.
I think I am going to book 1-2 PT sessions on the boat to help keep me in the gym. It is cheaper than PT at my home gym and my guess is I will probably spend way more than $75 on other things way less important.
65 LBS!!! WOW!!!!! :worship: So impressive! I have been gaining and losing the same 40 lbs for the past 5 years. I am down 15 now and still have the 25 to go. Hoping to lose 20 of it by the cruise but we shall see! Vegas certainly didn't help! Maybe we can get a group walking around the ship or something? I love the morning air so hoping I can get up early before the family wakes and get a nice morning walk/jog in. We'll see.....so many plans, you would think this cruise is longer than a week!!!
I'm up for the tea as long as it's on a sea day. It would probably make a fun "Ladies day out." However, I won't feel that my cruise experience is hindered if I don't go. I'm all for whatever the group decides, since I probably wouldn't normally book it for Adam and I(especially after reading some reviews)...
I need to go to the gym as well, but will probably just walk instead. I will likely go in the late mornings or afternoons, as I really relish the opportunity to sleep in on vacations (though I sometimes get up early anyway). Since the views are nice and I love fresh air, I am looking forward to walking on deck 4. We'll see how this plan goes though when we are actually on the boat! (I'm with Jane...the timing of my walk will definitely be a "last minute" type of thing. It's vacation after all!)
Disgirl 83 - thanks for mentioning that your dinner seating was changed on your online reservation, we were also waiting for main seating and I checked tonight and we had it. We had second seating on our 4 day cruise and I just porked out, my body doesn't like eating so much after 8 at night, I need to be done my dinner by 7 at the latest. ;)
Texfinn - as you can see from my signature, I am training for the half marathon in January. In fact, I am starting this weekend, so I am sure we can catch up with each other at the track.
Happy Valentines day everyone!! ANd happy Palo and excursion booking tomorrow night as well. :woohoo: :wizard:
Whew!! I finally got everyone updated on #1 from the last couple days...and I only lost everything once before I saved! :headache: Please check your info and make sure I didn't mess up with mismatched pics or info. :scared: Now to catch up on what I've been missing...
What days are brunch held and what days is the tea held?
Brunch is on Sunday (we don't get to KW until ~1 PM) and both sea days--Monday and Thursday. I think tea is only on Mon & Thurs.
We have a DD who is 7 so the girls will be in the club together. She is getting to know Jalen as a pen pal (another boy on this board -- cute as can be) and is LOVING (and I mean LOVING) getting and writing emails back and forth so if that is somethign you are interested in PM me.
My kids might be interested in participating, too. Hudson just got a penpal at school this week and is super excited about it, so I'm sure he'd be excited about another one, too!
Is that everything???? :lmao:
NOT YET! I need pics! :goodvibes
He would say it's "gay," which means "too girly" to him!:confused3
Sounds like something Justin would say, too. :rolleyes2
I am starting to doubt the whole late dinner thing! My kids are troopers and although we normally eat dinner @6pm during the week, they can wait until later if they are distracted (we at at 8:30 tonight) :rolleyes1 I am counting on the fact that they will be ok with an 8:00 dinner time. I really am hoping for that instead of 8:30. Is there a way to request it? I am worried that 6:30 will just feel too early and rushed for us.
Believe me, there's plenty of opportunities to eat before late dining! They're NOT going to go hungry! ;) Of course deck 9 is full of food options, but we always ordered the cheese tray from room service as we were getting ready for dinner. The boys usually fell alseep during dinner every night, so Justin & I pretty much ate by ourselves every night! :thumbsup2 (The servers would put 2 chairs together to make a "bed!") There's always the option of occasionally sending them to the club to eat with the group, and then they could stay there until you're done eating.
I checked mine and we are still listed as late dining, I sure hope we get early, I don't want to be running around on day 1.
I just checked the DCL site. And I got the main dining I requested. :woohoo: Could this have anything to do with people canceling their reservations? I've read on the main forum that dining changes usually happen within 2 weeks prior to embarkation... Anyway, I'm very exciting to have main dining as my 1 year old son will be awake to eat with us. :cool1: Also, it seems that there are a lot of rooms still available on the DCL site... is this usual with the 90-day mark right upon us?
Also, I just checked the first post and saw that I am listed as "Cat 12 upgraded to porthole", I am just in a Cat 12... hoping for an upgrade to porthole. :-)
You are awesome! I'll check and make sure it is all right for us. Will try to get some pictures posted today too!
Brunch is on Sunday (we don't get to KW until ~1 PM) and both sea days--Monday and Thursday. I think tea is only on Mon & Thurs.
I moved Brunch back to Sunday and kept my tea on Monday. Since we have no plans in KW thinking we will enjoy the ship after brunch and then when I have room in my tummy, walk around KW and enjoy KLP on a stick that I have heard so much about! If anyone wants to meet on Monday for tea let me know!
My kids might be interested in participating, too. Hudson just got a penpal at school this week and is super excited about it, so I'm sure he'd be excited about another one, too!
Awesome!!!! I'll PM you with her email BUT I need your kids email first. I have her email account setup so that she can only get email from addresses I input first so PM me back with your son's email address and we can get them started! She will be sooooo excited!
Ya -- quit second guessing myself last night. If they don't do well the first night we can feed them ahead of time at Topsiders and let them hang at the Kid's Club. The only night I really want them with us for dinner is formal night and that is only for the pictures! We rarely get dressed. Of course right now I have no clue what we are wearing. I need to go to ebay like you! I really want to hang with them during the shows and am thinking we can see the show before dinner and figure it out after that.
Ok -- so just went in and changed some things on my Ressie and let me tell you -- there are TONS of Palo reservations out there. I still had my pick of anything I wanted. I was able to book brunch, dinner & tea on any day at any time. Same with excursions and spa appointments so maybe our ship isn't that full? We would be ok with that. One thing my DH HATED about RCCL cruise 5 years ago were the crowds. It felt like you were constantly surrounded by people. I have convinced hiim that it isn't as bad on DCL :rolleyes1 which is why we are going. It would be nice if it wasn't so far off!
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!!!:flower3:
Fixed you, too! :goodvibes
So...are you nudists?!?! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Just kidding!!!
Ummmmmmm......NO! That was too funny! I guess that is what I get for posting befor my first cup of coffee!!! In Finland they are much more "immodest" shall we say than we are here in Texas BUT don't worry, my DH doesn't wander around naked. :rotfl2:
:lovestruc Happy Valentines Day!!!:love:
Good luck to everyone whose booking window opens up tonight!!! I hope you're able to get all the times that you want! I can't wait until it's my turn! :banana:
OMG!! ARE BOOKING TIMES OPEN EARLIER THAN WE THOUGHT?!?!
I just read on the main board that it opens at midnight EST, which would be 11 PM CST, 10 MST, and 9 PST. Does anyone know for sure?!?! I remember having to do it in the middle of the night two years ago because it was midnight PST (not EST). Better do some more investigating before tonight, huh?
Since there seems to be some open spots for the earlier dining, I went ahead and sent my request for the change. I'm still thinking that it may be earlier than we would like, but 8:30 is later than I would like. (Yes....I'm indecisive about travel details sometimes...) I figure if we get the earlier time, it will be nice and if not...we'll survive and be happy either way!
I'm up for a tea gathering - I vote for Monday, but that's just because I'm trying for Brunch on Thursday.
I've also been thinking about hitting the gym while on the cruise. I've been doing WW for a couple of years and have lost 62 lbs (guess I better update the signature) and still have quite a bit to lose. I haven't been able to make it to the Y since the beginning of December but I'm getting ready to ramp it up to prep for the cruise. It would be great to have some accountability while on vacation. If I wake up early I might decide to go up and get it over with, but that will be a last minute decision.
DH and I will definitely be working out in the mornings - we will already have been on vacation for two weeks by the time the cruise part arrives so it will be a very last ditch, desperate attempt to get in to our formal night clothes Too little too late I fear!
Good morning everyone!
One more night till we can book excursions and Palo!!!!:cool1: :banana:
I'm getting super excited.
Mati - I'd love to join you for Tea on Monday - I haven't done much research (cause I knew Jim wouldn't be interested) have you already made resservations? Would I just book myself for the same time and then we just ask to be seated together?
I just reread page 1 to see what everyone is doing looks like we have a lot of variety of excursions (and a lot of people planning on FKLP in KW). Austin - I've heard of geocaching, but didn't even think that there would be caches on CC. Sounds cool.
I woke up early this morning and was thinking about the cruise (so what else is new) and I think I decided on my FE gifts. :yay: Now I just have to find all the materials and make them. I also need to decide if I'm going to make my own FE or buy one ready made. I know how to sew, I'm just like the look of the embroidered characters and I don't have a cool enough sewing machine that has that feature. What is everyone else doing for their FE?
