~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
hello, my family will be on this cruise! hooray! key west- anyone leaving the kids on the ship and hitting duvall street?
:welcome: It's exciting to see more people that will be on this cruise! The DH and I will be doing duvall. We didn't plan any excursion for Key West and figure we will walk around and at least make it to the Southermost Point.
HI Everyone! Yoni found out he is most likely losing his job in a couple of weeks. He has a STRONG lead on a new job so hopefully that will come through!
I'm sorry to hear that! I'll keep you all in my thoughts. It seems that everyday on the news there is word of even more and more layoffs. I hope the economy will start to turn around soon!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
10 WEEKS!!!!!!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
Wow! It's sneaking up soo fast. I can't wait! :banana:
This is a very active group. Do you sign up ahead for the tastings? There will be at least four who would like to go. Two more, but can't! Ages 20. We love watching karaoke. We will be going to that. We have signed up with Captain Marvin in GC. We will probably do the rolley in KW. Haven't decided what to do in Coz, although we are looking at the underwater scooter. We did it at St. John's and loved it. I really want to parasail at Castaway cay.
From what I have learned from the DIS boards, you sign up for the tastings on board the ship. I believe we have a group going to the different tastings. A group of men doing the beer tastings, quite a few doing the tequila/margarita tastings, some doing the martini and wine tastings. It will be fun!
Mati: Sorry to hear about Yoni's job. We've been through that this year, but Adam finally got a solid job here last month. He ended up taking a $30k pay cut, but it's a least a job!
Loucinda -- thanks for your thoughts. I remember you talking about Adam taking a $30k pay cut. At this point, I think we would be ok with that too as scary as that sounds!!! I am sure it will all work out! Just have to keep my fingers crossed.
Anyone going to Scuba Dive in Cozumel? My hubby and I are going to sign up through DCL.
JorDan -- Yoni is going diving in GC. We originally had him signed up for Coz but it is a drag dive and he is not such an expert diver. After asking on the main board, I got a ton of advice for him to go in GC instead. I think it is smart to sign up for dives with DCL. There are too many variables in a dive that can happen -- we think it is safer to book via DCL.
:welcome: It's exciting to see more people that will be on this cruise! The DH and I will be doing duvall. We didn't plan any excursion for Key West and figure we will walk around and at least make it to the Southermost Point.
Hi Lynsey! (see, getting used to names!!!) It seems like not so long ago that someone wrote on the main board that we were a quiet group. I don't think we are so quiet anymore! I am so excited, I can't stand it.
FYI- We fly in LATE Friday May 15th (11PM). So I just wanted a cheap place to snooze. Just booked a night at the Travelodge Inn & Suites for $58 total. Free shuttle to and from the airport. So we'll stay there and then shuttle back to MCO to catch the Cruise shuttle. What time are most of you shuttling out?? We still need to purchase those tickets.
Sorry I'm so chatty today!! But I just remembered that I can post links on here, so I thought I'd post my Dream Job videos on here. Then you can see what I'm talking about, I'll still spill all my Disneyland secrets if you want to know them.....
To win the Dream Job, you had to submit a 45 second video of what you would want the dream Job. There were 5 categories: Pirate, Princess in Waiting, Parade Performer (HSM), Jungle Cruise Skipper and Haunted Manion Butler/Maid. They narrowed it down to 100 people (25 in each category), then America voted on who they wanted to win. (BUT we found out that Americans vote only counted for a small percent...Disney actually picked their favorites). There were 5 Princesses who but, one of them their daught got sick or something and she couldn't participate. It was so INCREDIBLE.
Here is my Audition tape:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KznRyhC1geE
(and yes I do prefer to be called JorDanrellaprincess: )
Here is my video from Disney: (Keep in mind that this was done in 4 days, I had NO sleep...especially at the end where I say "This Dream job has been more than a dream.." I was about to fall flat on my face. I was EXHAUSTED! I only had 2 hours of sleep that night, plus drank too much at the Nemo Opening event (Do NOT recommend drinking then going on the Sub ride:sick: )hehe. So I was barely coherent and after a few takes couldn't even keep my sentences straight. But is was WORTH IT!!)
I'll tell more on the Cruise if you'd like. I know all sorts of Disneyland secrets.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing with us!
Hi KLP-ers! Sorry, I've been really quiet this week - new job has knocked me off my feet!
It is a gorgeous spring day here and I have just taken the dogs for a lovely long walk and am full of the joys of spring!! Now playing catch-up with this thread!!
Don't worry. I'm pretty shy too until I get to know people. I'm afraid that sometimes I might come off as unfriendly or stuck up but I promise it's really that I'm just shy! So if I ever pass any of you on the ship and don't say hi its not because I'm purposely trying to ignore you. Actually I'll probably be thinking "I wonder if they remember me... hmm, I doubt it so I'll just wait to see if they say something first..." :lmao:
!
Ha! you sound just like me! I am usually so busy staring at people trying to work out if they are who I think they are (I'm really bad with faces!) that it looks like I'm giving them the evil eye and they run off scared!!!
When you are typing a new reply you need to click on the "Insert link" icon (the icon of the Earth with the chain link on it, just below the white smilie face)
HI Everyone! I'll start working on the list for dinner links and for the tastings tomorrow. It has been a rough day -- Yoni found out he is most likely losing his job in a couple of weeks. He has a STRONG lead on a new job so hopefully that will come through but needless to say, it has been a stressful day and just ready to crawl into bed. One thing is for sure -- I am so glad the cruise is PIF because we are going no matter what happens and I think by then, I will NEED the vacation!
....
So sorry about Yoni's job. Best of luck for the new one :hug:
Hmm we werent going to do any tastings, but you are all making them sound fun!! Let me know which ones you decide to do and I will hopefully come! I should warn you though, one stiff of the barmaids apron and I am "merry" - its embarrassing! I tend to wonder round prodding my nose as it goes completely numb!:rotfl:
That means 8 weeks today we fly out to Orlando!! I need to get serious about my diet!!!!!! :sad2:
Yes! Tell us secrets!!! Now going to watch your videos!:thumbsup2
Have a good morning every one!!! ITS SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana:
Now going to facebook all those people who have put details on!
Good morning everyone! For those of you who haven't seen, I started us a group on facebook - Key Lime Pie-rates Cruise. I thought it would be an easy way for all of us to find each other.
Well, let me just start by telling you that "DIS withdrawl" is NOT fun! Oh, the sweating, the shaking, the vomiting...I wouldn't recommend it! (Yes, I'm just kidding...no vomiting in my house!) :lmao: Anyway, I'm back to see what I've missed out on in the last two days!
Here is one that the Dream Jobbers used to start getting to know each other...add on more if you think of any!
Name: Val Pfenning
Age: 35
From: Grand Island, Nebraska (Justin & I were both born & raised here and will never leave)
Family: Married to Justin (38) and sons Hudson (7) and Lennon (5.5)
Fav Disney Character(s): All Cars characters (mostly McQueen, Mater, Guido-"peeet stop!", Doc Hudson, Sally--it just keeps going), Woody's Roundup Gang (Woody, Jesse, and Bullseye--obviously NOT Prospector :laughing: ), Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie. I have to go way back in my memory bank, too, because I haven't watched any "princess" movies since I don't think the boys would be into them, but I do remember liking Ariel when it first came out (back when I was in HIGH SCHOOL! :scared: )
Profession: Owner of a home-based medical transcription company, FT mom, and Mary Kay beauty consultant
Most Bizarre Talent(s): wiggle my ears :confused3 Guess I'm not very talented! :laughing:
Hobbies: TV, DIS, scrapbooking (is that it? I'm pretty boring!).
Dream Job: Hmmmm...I think I've got it. Being able to work at home but rearrange my schedule to fit my family activities (unless I get more work than I want for the day...then I'm cursing it.) I guess I'm lucky to have the job(s) that I do with this sucky economy...
Fav Quote: :confused3
Favorite music/singers: David Cook! Really, most anything besides country. Justin has really gotten me into lots of new stuff lately. We used to LOVE Squizz channel on XM, but now they've switched it to Octane (from Sirius), and it's just not the same (not "heavy" enough). :sad2:
Some things you might not know: Well, I'm obviously willing to tell complete strangers anything and everything about myself, so I really don't think there's anything I haven't told you yet. I'm glad you're my friends now and not strangers anymore! :goodvibes
Reason I love Disney: The good feeling you get.
Favorite Disney Rides: Ok, so now it's confession time. The only Disney trip I've had before our cruise 2 years ago was when I was 12ish. From what I can remember, Space Mountain was my favorite. :confused3
Favorie Disney Treat: Considering the info above, I have to go with something from the cruise, which would probably be any of the desserts. (Sorry I'm flunking out on these last few Q's!)
Favorite Disney song: Justin's mom sang "A Whole New World" from Aladdin on our wedding day, so that's obviously a fave. I also love the entire Cars soundtrack. Guess I'd have to go through my DVD's to jog my memory.
Favorite Disnery Memory: The entire cruise 2 years ago. One of the best from that was the fireworks (okay, so maybe here's something I haven't mentioned yet...I cry at the sight of fireworks (:blush:) so watching them from deck 10 was even more "magical" than on Independence Day.)
If I remember right I think Lilygator also has early dining and our age kids. Hmmm...wouldn't that be fun?!?!
So do I!! 7 & 5.
I wonder if the wonderful Disney travel agents would think I am crazy if I called and asked to be seated with x and x; however, we would like to be near x, x, x, .... Do you think that's been done before? Is it possible?
Well, it never hurts to ask! :rotfl:
'm totally ready to get some official meet times together too. All I can think of right now if the 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge on boarding day.
I posted a list of previous ones that we did 2 years ago but didn't hear anyone's thoughts about any of those or any suggestions of what others ahve done. Here it is again. Whatever we decide on I can update on post #1. Feel free to add any suggestions, but does anyone like anything here?:
As far as DIS meets, we haven't really set anything up for sure...except the FKLP tour in KW!! If any experienced cruisers want to toss out some ideas of what you've done in the past, we can maybe decide some of the ones that everyone has the most interest in participating in. And just because it's set up as a "DIS meet," don't feel like you have to be at every single one of them either. We kinda hit & missed the ones last time. Here's some that were set up for our group last time:
***In the terminal. Most of us arrived right at 10:00, so we had quite a bit of time to meet & greet with everyone. The photos we all posted beforehand really helped us recognize each other from across the room!!
***The Mickey Pool (for those of us with younger kids) right after embarkation. I'm sure there may have been something going on at the Goofy Pool, too, but we weren't part of that.
***3:00 in the Promenade Lounge. I forgot about this one, so we didn't attend. Oops!
***Deck 10 for the Sailaway Party. We did have trouble finding everyone, though, so there may have been several small groups of us spread out. We had just a few others DIS'ers right around us.
***All the tastings had groups in it. Justin & I didn't do the wine or martini, but we did the tequila & beer with a few different people (note to self: don't do these back to back again! Yowza!!)
***Palo? I think there was a group of people that arranged for Palo reservations at the same time/table/area, but we had our anniversary plans by ourselves, so we didn't participate in that one either.
***GC--Cap'n Marvin's stingray excursion. Our group had 3.5 families on the excursion boat.
***CC--far end of family beach.
***'Til We Meet Again (character show) in the lobby Friday night. As an impromptu meeting that was set up just hours earlier, we did end up with quite a group and probably ended up being the largest meet that I attended.
There may be other meets that we had, too, but I'll have to go back to the old cruise thread to find out for sure. Another way to meet up with other DIS'ers was to link dinner reservations for all that are early or late. We requested a specific dinner rotation (and got it) and asked to be sat with/near each other. Even though we were all linked, somehow our family still ended up at a table for 4. We did have all DIS'ers around us, so that was pretty cool, too.
HI Everyone! I'll start working on the list for dinner links and for the tastings tomorrow.
Great! Thanks! I can post that on #1 also for easy reference!
It has been a rough day -- Yoni found out he is most likely losing his job in a couple of weeks. He has a STRONG lead on a new job so hopefully that will come through but needless to say, it has been a stressful day and just ready to crawl into bed.
Oh, Mati! :sad: I'm so sorry!!! Hopefully everything works out for the best. I'll be thinking of you (and everyone else affected by this $%#@! economy...)
my family will be on this cruise! hooray! we
:welcome: to our crusie thread! I've got you on Post #1, and if there's any other info you want to share, just let me know! You can also check out what some of the others are planning for excursions (if they've told me, I've posted it there).
Do you sign up ahead for the tastings?
Yes, just go to Guest Services for the tix (not online ahead of time, just onboard ahead of time).
We have signed up with Captain Marvin in GC. We will probably do the rolley in KW. Haven't decided what to do in Coz, although we are looking at the underwater scooter. We did it at St. John's and loved it. I really want to parasail at Castaway cay.
Gotcha updated! :goodvibes
Hi Lynsey! (see, getting used to names!!!)
It helps, doesn't it?!?! I also find it helpful when there's your names and a family photo in the signature line (or avatar, like Lynsey) so we can see your smiling faces and be able to memorize them each & every time you post!!! (I'm sure some of you are getting sick of seeing my family ALL THE TIME!! :rotfl: )
It seems like not so long ago that someone wrote on the main board that we were a quiet group. I don't think we are so quiet anymore! I am so excited, I can't stand it.
I think I came across that at one point, and if I remember, they were talking about the May 17th Wonder cruise. :confused3
FYI- We fly in LATE Friday May 15th (11PM). So I just wanted a cheap place to snooze. Just booked a night at the Travelodge Inn & Suites for $58 total. Free shuttle to and from the airport. So we'll stay there and then shuttle back to MCO to catch the Cruise shuttle. What time are most of you shuttling out?? We still need to purchase those tickets.
Gotcha updated! Are you doing the DCL transfers? I'm not sure if anyone else here is dong that or not. Anyone...anyone? FYI, lots of us are staying at PC on Friday or else driving (their own car/rental car or a car service) from the airport/hotel on Sat AM. We flew in really late last time (delayed & finally arrived at hotel @ 2:30 AM) and used a car service the next day to get to the terminal as soon as they opened at 10:00. BTW, GREAT videos! :goodvibes
Good Morning everyone! I am on a high after my swim lesson this morning and thought I would enjoy my first cup of coffee for the day with all of you. :surfweb:
Good Morning JorDan! I hope you got some serious crafting done last night or should I say early this morning? ;)
We are flying in on Thursday night and spending two nights at the Swan (it was FREE with Starwood points :banana: ). We will drive or take a car service in the morning of the 16th. It is all up in the air. We need to weigh our options and see what is the cheapest way to go. We are hoping to get to the port by 10am. I think there is a large group staying at the Radisson the night before near the port. Not sure where else....
Hi KLP-ers! Sorry, I've been really quiet this week - new job has knocked me off my feet!
Sonya, we have missed you BUT glad you are enjoying your new job!
It is a gorgeous spring day here and I have just taken the dogs for a lovely long walk and am full of the joys of spring!! Now playing catch-up with this thread!!
I love the spring! It is the perfect weather here in Austin. I think it will be mid-70s. It is a bit windy but beautiful outside. Yoni is building a fence to make a dog-run from part of our yard. He is not a "handy" type of guy but doing a great job. Cuervo (our Golden puppy) is tearing up our backyard so hopefully this will resolve that issue -- he will have a little corner of his own to tear up!
I LOVE, love love your dog!!! Whats his name?
These are my angels, Wilbur and Milly! Currently being bathed by DH as they rolled in something unmentionable on our walk!
Love your "Angels"! So adorable! Too bad you can't bring them with you on the cruise!
So sorry about Yoni's job. Best of luck for the new one :hug:
THANKS! I am in much better spirits today. I think the 30 minute swim lessons helped this morning -- I finally got my stroke count down to 20 which for me, is pretty dang good! Yoni will be fine. Hopefully this new job will come through, if not, he gets to play "house husband" for awhile which should be interesting! :eek: We just have to be a tad tighter with the wallet (yup, that means no Villa for Yoni's birthday :sad1: -- but in all honesty, we had decided to cancel it before we found out about his job).
Hmm we werent going to do any tastings, but you are all making them sound fun!! Let me know which ones you decide to do and I will hopefully come! I should warn you though, one stiff of the barmaids apron and I am "merry" - its embarrassing! I tend to wonder round prodding my nose as it goes completely numb!:rotfl:
:rotfl2: That is Fantastic! I can't wait to get a picture of that!
That means 8 weeks today we fly out to Orlando!! I need to get serious about my diet!!!!!! :sad2:
Woo Hoo! I can't believe it is getting so close. I can understand on the diet. This morning, I spied some unfortunate extra, ummm, "meat?" on my bones that really should disappear. Must stop eating girl scout cookies!!!!
Good morning everyone! For those of you who haven't seen, I started us a group on facebook - Key Lime Pie-rates Cruise. I thought it would be an easy way for all of us to find each other.
Good Morning Tammy! What are you doing surfing the boards when you have a house all to yourself??? Thanks for setting up the facebook group!
Ok -- need to get some things done. We are throwing our close neighbors a surprise 40th anniversary party tonight and really should clean up. Somehow I don't think our guests will want to wade through the carpet that Cuervo has created on our floors (they are wood but you wouldn't know it this morning). I am in a chatty mood so sure I will pop in and out all day.
Have a good morning everyone!!!!
Ok, so thought I was done but somehow Val snuck in there and got another post in so responding before I get the kids ready for swim lessons.
Well, let me just start by telling you that "DIS withdrawl" is NOT fun! Oh, the sweating, the shaking, the vomiting...I wouldn't recommend it! (Yes, I'm just kidding...no vomiting in my house!) :lmao: Anyway, I'm back to see what I've missed out on in the last two days!
We missed you!!!
Name: Val Pfenning
....
Ok, will fill out my profile after swim lessons. Keep forgetting to do that!
I posted a list of previous ones that we did 2 years ago but didn't hear anyone's thoughts about any of those or any suggestions of what others ahve done. Here it is again. Whatever we decide on I can update on post #1. Feel free to add any suggestions, but does anyone like anything here?:
We plan on being at the terminal by 10, will meet you in the Mickey pool after lunch at PC (or does it make sense to go to Topsiders if we going to the pool?). Am up for the 3pm meet if everyone does that and of course, I am doing the tequila and wine tastings, Yoni will do the wine & beer tastings -- not sure on the martini tastings. I believe we have a group trying to do tea on one of the sea days right? Need to get that together and see about getting a reservation. Last night meet sounds good too!
It helps, doesn't it?!?! Umm....I may be in the computer industry BUT, ummm...I haven't figured out how to do that. I'll work on it tomorrow......:rolleyes1
I think if we have a meet around 3 PM that sounds good...so then maybe the ones with kids can let them swim for a bit and get some excited energy out?!?
We are still not sure what time we will arrive at the terminal, probably between 10 & 11. Yes we are going to buy the DCL tickets...or is it cheaper to do a car service????
Okay....SO I have an announcement to make..............
I stayed up until 3:30 AM making a special craft :idea:
(Not to sound cocky or anything BUT my crafts are special and I make them one of a kind...Even Disney has told me I need to market my stuff!)
Later on this evening, I will be posting some pictures of a Cruise Gift that I will make and sell. I want you all to be the first to see them and maybe purchase....
You Definently will notice me in the terminal or on board the first day with me wearing it.....
STAY TUNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(sorry I get OVERLY excited about my crafts...a little too much)
(Not to sound cocky or anything BUT my crafts are special and I make them one of a kind...Even Disney has told me I need to market my stuff!)
Later on this evening, I will be posting some pictures of a Cruise Gift that I will make and sell. I want you all to be the first to see them and maybe purchase....
You Definently will notice me in the terminal or on board the first day with me wearing it.....
STAY TUNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(sorry I get OVERLY excited about my crafts...a little too much)
Can't wait to see your new stuff. Be careful about talking about selling your crafts on the boards (you might put that on your FB/myspace pages. I know the moderators would pull anything that is an advertisement for sales.
Val regarding the meets -
We will be driving to the port and hope to be there around 10/10:30 so a meet at the dock sounds like a great idea.
3:00pm at the Prominade - I already have it on my schedule
KW - Should we meet at Val's Ice cream shop for the first round of FKLP at a certain time (maybe 1:00pm?) and then we can all split and wander (it seems like a lot of us are taking the trolley or walking around). Maybe we'll see each other at the other stops but we can all compare notes on our favorite choices the next time we see each other.
High Tea - I'm still in for a meet on Monday, but we need to figure out how many of us there are and try and get reservations on board.
Tastings - I might be talked into the margarita tastings and Jim liked the sound of the beer tasting.
Excursions - I don't think anyone else has signed up for the excursions that we are going on: Grand Caymen - Shipwreck/Snorkel and Cozumel - Mexican Cuisine but we'd love it if anyone would like to join us.
Shawna - Thanks for your weekly countdown. Just seeing them gets me excited. How is John feeling? Hopefully with all your nursing he is doing well.
Mati (see copying you and trying to use real names) I'm with you (and it sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat) of trying to drop some pounds before the cruise. I've actually kept my promise to myself (this week) and have been going regularly. Nothing has showed up on the scale, but I've just got to keep at it. I've been doing 30 minutes on the eliptical and today I just listened to upbeat music (I had been listening to old podcasts) and covered up the display and I actually pushed myself much more and was able to log in over 2 miles. Jim and I are probably going to take the dog for a walk later today so I'll be able to log in some more miles. I've been thinking about the dreaded swimsuit shopping so I'm really trying to get my stuff in gear and tighten up (HA) as much as possible.
JorDan - I'm going to work on the questionaire today (great questions) and post them later. I have to be prepped and ready to purchase my brother some tickets to No Doubt (they go on sale at noon today).
It's finally stopped raining here and it looks like it's going to be a great weekend - we are going to break out the BBQ tonight so it really is starting to feel like spring (and THAT much closer to the cruise).
Ok, will fill out my profile after swim lessons. Keep forgetting to do that!
We plan on being at the terminal by 10, will meet you in the Mickey pool after lunch at PC (or does it make sense to go to Topsiders if we going to the pool?). Am up for the 3pm meet if everyone does that and of course, I am doing the tequila and wine tastings, Yoni will do the wine & beer tastings -- not sure on the martini tastings. I believe we have a group trying to do tea on one of the sea days right? Need to get that together and see about getting a reservation. Last night meet sounds good too!
Yes I need to complete that still! Oops!
Am very up for the 3pm meet on the first day and a tequila tasting (Yup, thats something else I have never tasted!:sad2: ). I am also very happy to come and WATCH you all doing kareoke!!:rotfl:
I think if we have a meet around 3 PM that sounds good...so then maybe the ones with kids can let them swim for a bit and get some excited energy out?!?
We are still not sure what time we will arrive at the terminal, probably between 10 & 11. Yes we are going to buy the DCL tickets...or is it cheaper to do a car service????
Okay....SO I have an announcement to make..............
We are going to aim to get there for 10am as well! We will have a hire car from our two weeks at Disney beforehand. In 10 weeks we will all be there!!
I cannot wait to see your crafts! Do you do international delivery!?!
Welcome!!
Just keep going with the exercise and it will all kick in! Remember to measure yourself every few weeks as well - thats a far better guide (and more satisfying!!).
Oh YUMMO - have a great BBQ! :banana:
Thanks for setting up the facebook group! Have joined and have sent Tony (DH) an invite . . . we will see if he joins in!!!!!!! :rotfl:
I can't wait to see your creations!!!!!:goodvibes
Thanks...I enjoy doing the weekly countdowns as well. It make the weeks pass by quickly :goodvibes
BTW...I'm Shawan but your doing so great with remembering everyone's real names....I am soooo bad with things like that! DH John is doing great but I think you might be mixing me up with Belinda (Bellamickey) and her DH Shawn. I think that she posted a little while ago that her DH had been sick :sick: . Thanks for asking about DH anywho!!!!!! We have such a great group of people going on this cruise! I can't wait to meet everyone!
Ok, so thought I was done but somehow Val snuck in there and got another post in so responding before I get the kids ready for swim lessons.
"Snuck in?!?!" :lmao: Do you know how long it took me to post that? Only the 90+ minutes that was on the elliptical!! (Believe me, it's not as impressive as it sounds...typing and exercising at the same time makes me go slower than usual.) Now yesterday when I did it, I got through multiple pages of that outlandish trip report because I was just reading and not posting! BTW, I just got to their MK day after the GF. That dessert tray was awesome!!!! I wanted to eat one of everything!!
We plan on being at the terminal by 10, will meet you in the Mickey pool after lunch at PC (or does it make sense to go to Topsiders if we going to the pool?).
:yay: Us, too! We'll probably do lunch at Topsiders/Goofy's/Pluto's/Pinocchio's instead of PC--just so the boys can get swimming ASAP!!
Am up for the 3pm meet if everyone does that and of course, I am doing the tequila and wine tastings, Yoni will do the wine & beer tastings -- not sure on the martini tastings. I hope I don't forget the 3 PM meet this time!! I was so busy getting stuff set up in our room that I totally forgot all about it! I'll check with Justin and see what (if any) tastings he wants to do. I don't think we'll be doing tea.
Umm....I may be in the computer industry BUT, ummm...I haven't figured out how to do that. I'll work on it tomorrow......:rolleyes1
It's so easy! In the red banner at the top, go to "User CP" on the far left and then "Edit Signature." It'll bring up a text box just like you're posting. I always "Preview" first just to make sure it looks like I want it to.
We are still not sure what time we will arrive at the terminal, probably between 10 & 11. Yes we are going to buy the DCL tickets...or is it cheaper to do a car service????
Well, with just the 2 of you, it'll probably be cheaper to do the DCL transfers, but an even cheaper way would be for you to rent a car and drive yourself. I don't think the DCL transfers will get you there any earlier than probably 11:30ish. I'm not 100% positive, but I think the first transfer bus leaves MCO around 10:30, so if you want to be there early, the DCL transfers will not be the best option.
I'm not real sure, but I think she'll be fine here (not sure if moderators even "monitor" the meet threads), but I'm sure on the main board there would be an issue. :confused3
We will be driving to the port and hope to be there around 10/10:30 so a meet at the dock sounds like a great idea.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Believe me, I wish I had a place called "Val's Ice Cream Shop!"
The rest sounds like a good plan! We'll be doing the electric cars instead of the trolley. And my kids complain about having to walk any distance at all, so I know that's out of the question!! :laughing:
Yeah, all these 90+ minute workouts haven't been producing the results I was expecting. Maybe I need to cut back on the sweets, too!! :scared: I'm not sure I could do that! :laughing:
It's finally stopped raining here and it looks like it's going to be a great weekend - we are going to break out the BBQ tonight so it really is starting to feel like spring (and THAT much closer to the cruise).
Oh, sure...rub it in!! We're going to be getting freezing rain tonight.
Am very up for the 3pm meet on the first day and a tequila tasting (Yup, thats something else I have never tasted!:sad2: ). I am also very happy to come and WATCH you all doing kareoke!!:rotfl:
WHAT?!?! Never had tequila?!?! Oh, boy...you're in for a wild time! :rotfl: I'm also perfectly fine just watching.
Thanks for setting up the facebook group! Have joined and have sent Tony (DH) an invite . . . we will see if he joins in!!!!!!! :rotfl:
I'm wondering if Justin will join, too! I'll suggest it for him and see what happens...
I joined the FB group and sent friend requests to a couple of you that I didn't already have. I really need to work on my page there and add some more pics or at least visit it more than once a week.
I've finally finished the questionaire.
Name: Jane Wood
Age: 45
From: Martinez, CA (about 40 miles east of San Francisco)
Family: Husband Jim (47), Son’s – Steven (22) & Brendan (19) + Dog Lilly Belle (see avatar), cat Shara, turtle Sam. We had a rabbit for 7 years as well, but he passed away last year (RIP Nibbles).
Fav Disney Character(s): First love is Mickey but have a affinity for Jane from Tarzan (can I rant about how she is NEVER out in the parks for autographs, parades, etc???) NO FAIR!!!
Profession: Corporate Meeting Planner for a Mortgage Insurance Company – Yup, scary industry to be in right now.
Most Bizarre Talent(s): I don’t know if it is bizarre, but I’ve been called MacGyver for being able to fix things with whatever is around.
Hobbies: Lately – DISboards & vacation planning. In non-vacation planning times its been crafts, cross-stitch, reading
Dream Job: Special Event Planner at Disneyland or WDW – Just think of the budget they must be able to work with. I occasionally check out Pixar & Lucasfilm (as they are at least drivable for me) job posts but so far nothing in my area.
Fav Quote: I have two - If you can Dream it you can do it – Walt Disney
Do or Do Not, there is no try – Master Yoda
Favorite music/singers: Pretty much light rock and oldies (from the 50s – 60s). Most of our CDs are Disney soundtracks
Some things you might not know: Jim and I met in drama class in high school. We started dating after he graduated and got engaged after 3 years. We waited for 3 years to get married so that we would have steady jobs and money in our savings. Three months later we were both laid off work. The only time that I’ve lived on my own was for one summer while I worked as a carpenter in a Summer Repertory company during college.
Reason I love Disney: It makes me happy just thinking of the magic that Walt started. How one persons dream and inspiration can inspire millions of people is just amazing.
Favorite Disney Rides: For each park there is a different one. DL – Indiana Jones, DCA – Soarin, MK – Carousel of Progress (yup a geek), Epcot (FW) – Mission Space, Epcot (WS) – Its an attraction – American Adventure (makes me cry every time), DHS – Rock n Roller Coaster, AK – Expedition Everest
Favorite Disney Treat: A MUST have every trip. Mickey Premium Bar (for those of you who are counting its 8 points on WW and worth EVERY single point).
Favorite Disney song: It’s a toss up between - You’ll be in my heart by Phil Collins from Tarzan and We Go On from the Millennium Celebration CD
Favorite Disney Memory: I have two one for each of the kids. Steven was about 14 and he has always been a huge train fan. We decided to take the Behind the Steam Trains tour at the Magic Kingdom. Now to backtrack I have to say that Steven has Asperger Syndrome (it’s a high functioning form of Autism so social skills are delayed). He is very quiet and shy and doesn’t really show a lot of outward emotion in fact the more excited he actually gets the quieter he becomes. I just remember getting to go back to the train storage area and he was able to get onto one of the engines and have his picture taken. He didn’t show it much, but we could tell that he was in heaven getting a chance to be that close to an actual engine.
For Brendan it was when he was about 6 or 7. I was working at our local Disney Store and DL was going to premier the new evening parade Light Magic. A group of us from the store decided to drive down with our families and see one of the first weekends. We staked out our spot on Main Street a couple of hours before the start of the parade (we got some insider information from a cast member on where the floats would stop) and waited while chatting. When the parade started it was just magical. All the fiber optic lights that they had added to the Main Street buildings was fantastic. We didn’t know where to look or what to expect. One of the floats stopped right in front of us and one of the pixies picked Brendan to toss pixie dust on the float to wake up the characters. Not a big production thing, lots of other kids were picked at the same time, but Brendan just loved doing it. A friend of mine was taping the parade so he got it on tape but the lights were so low that you really can’t see much. Its just one of those happy magical times that sticks in my memory.
Now I have to get off the computer and get to reading. I'm in a book club and I've barely started the book and I have to pass on the book to my co-worker on Monday and tomorrow we are going to the outlets to shop for cruise stuff. I want to hit the Crocs outlet, see if I can find some capris, a tote bag for WDW and see what the swimsuits look like.
What is everyone wearing on the non-dressy nights for dinner? I thought I had a good plan of attach on clothes then I reallized that I would need to change out of my capris/t-shirts and into something for dinner - if for no other reason than I'll probably be all sweaty and yucky and won't want to wear any of that stuff in the evening. Remember I'm not a dress wearer so any suggestions?
Remember what the dormouse said;
"FEED YOUR HEAD"
Look, I don't want to wax philosophic, but I will say that if you're alive you've got to flap your arms and legs, you've got to jump around a lot, for life is the very opposite of death, and therefore you must at very least think noisy and colorfully, or you're not alive.
Favorite Disney Rides: I am not a big rider of rides. I know. :sad2:
Favorite Disney Treat: Anything with cheesecake. Cheesecake should be a food group.
Favorite Disney song: Feed the Birds – Mary Poppins. And the whole Lilo and Stitch sound track. As a Memphis girl I could not help but like it.
Favorite Disney Memory: On our first Disney Cruise (we had been on Carnival once before) and having to drag our boys out of the “club”. And dragging two little off of the ship with tears in their eyes (okay I admit I was teary too.)
Well, let me just start by telling you that "DIS withdrawl" is NOT fun! Oh, the sweating, the shaking, the vomiting...I wouldn't recommend it! (Yes, I'm just kidding...no vomiting in my house!) :lmao: Anyway, I'm back to see what I've missed out on in the last two days!
Glad your back Val!! I've been wondering where you've been. Thought maybe you skipped out on an early trip to KW for some KLP!! That is so worth all the sweating and shaking! Glad your back girly! We've definatly missed ya;)
