~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
I just checked our reservations and notice that our seating has already changed to the main seating. I forgot I had asked to be wait listed when we first made our reservations. Sooo if there is anyone out there who would be interested for the first seating please let me know! I really like the idea of being able to sit with, or at least near, fellow disers!!!
if available we are trying to switch
I'm in the process of starting an invitation business & I need a good name. I came up with one I like, but when I googled it, someone else is already using it.
This would be for Wedding, baby, bridal shower, graduation party, you name it invites...
My original name was Lucky Finds Design.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas out there....
did anyone book the hot deals at the Radisson - where you pay at booking time? They still haven't charged my account yet. My reservation is there but no charge.
I like reading (I am missing my Harry Potter, and can't seem to get into the whole Twlight thing:scared: )
I am very much a nut (silly for those of you with unclean minds). I am super ready for this cruise. You guys have no idea how ready.
No not like I am packed (silly:rotfl2:) more like I could walk to the port ready.
I'm one of those people who had no idea what to read after Harry Potter. My normal thing would be romance novels but I wanted to find something that I could really connect with like I did HP. I found two in the children's section - the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan (movie coming out next year based on the first book The Lightning Thief) and the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver (the first one is Wolf Brother). Both books are found in the Independ Reader section of the bookstore and are listed as good for 9-12 year olds (just like the early HP books).
I got two of my cousins and a friend to read Percy Jackson and the three of them loved it as well. It puts some people off because they compare it too much to HP, but I tell people that Harry Potter is a fairytale fantasy. So is Percy Jackson. A lot of the common elements are represented in both novels, so yes, there will be some similarities.
Wolf Brother and the rest of the COAD series also has similar elements, although I think it's easier to get over because it takes place in the past.
I'm 35 and I have a DD (6) so we get to read books from the same part of the bookstore!
I admit to reading the Twilight saga and enjoying them. Great literature, no. Fun story, very.
I booked the AAA rate--same price as the hot deal, but they just hold it with a credit card instead of PIF right away.
I think we might just get along!! lol What dinner seating do you have (were the late seating). If you have the late dinner maybe we could link dinner? Im scared of being stuck with the family with 8 kids...lol No offence to anyone:laughing:
This post made me laugh- thanks for that austin77!! If I were a young couple going on a Disney cruise I would think the same thing! :rotfl:
Hope everyone is doing well - it was pretty exciting to book everything on the weekend. We booked: high tea on Tuesday, brunch on Thursday and one excursion in Cozumel - the clear kayaking. Unfortunately our Dd can't go to that...she would have enjoyed that. I also booked two spa treatments, I am going to splurge on the Alone Time...
I think we are going to hit Rusty's for dinner on that Friday night. One of the other two had some not nice things to say about DIS'ers who come, eat and linger, so I don't feel that nice to patron them if you know what I mean. Shirley - on the main boards highly recommends Rusty's and the menu looks great!
lol:goodvibes
Ya I really think it would be very...diffrent?:)
I guess if we dont like who we are sitting with we don't have to go? Do topsiders(i dont know if its topsiders on Magic?). Can you switch seating onboard if we have a problem?:confused3
Makes sense to me! What kind of food does Rusty's have and how far from the Radisson is it?
I remember seeing a map just a couple weeks ago showing all the hotels & restaurants in PC, but I can't think of where I saw it!! My first guess was PassPorter, but on a quick glance through there, I didn't find it. Maybe it was online somewhere?!?!
ETA: Found it!!! It's in the PassPorter under "Ports of Call" (I was looking under "Reservations" with the other PC info, such as hotels, etc.) I'll have to check it out a little closer after I get back from picking up at school.
I LOVE twilight! I loved Harry Potter too, but I was soooo hooked on twilight that I read all the books in only a week or so... I have re-read the 1st one again already. Out of all of them, the best one is Midnight Sun (too bad it's not finished and who knows when or if ever....)
PS... the movie is a sad representation of the book.
For those who enjoy the young adult fantasies (ala Harry Potter, Twilight, etc.), you might want to check out A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. They are excellent books! (The whole series is: A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing)
My friend in Port Canaveral (who has lived there for many years) highly recommends a place called Milliken's. He says it has amazing food and sits on the water. He also is pretty sure that the port shuttle or hotel shuttle will take us there free of charge. I looked at the menu and it looks amazing!:yay: It's a little on the pricey side, but I would imagine that most places at the port are...:rolleyes1
Since I really trust his judgement and I'm all about trying something everyone else hasn't tried, I think we're going to plan on Millikens for dinner and drinks on Friday!:banana:
BTW We are early seaters now and would love to link up with some other couples or small families (not the one with 6+ kids)! We aren't quite as young as Disgirl and Austin, unfortunately... (I'll be 32 on sail day and Adam is 36.) As for interests, I'll sum it up... I'm a general and cosmetic surgeon who occasionally reads a good book, likes to talk/hike/snorkel/and fish. Adam is a total computer geek-type guy who likes TV too much and tends to do whatever I plan for us. His favorite cruise excursions thus far are ziplining and dunebuggying. He's a former Navy Submariner and loves Star Wars so much that Darth Vader's theme had to be played when we walked into our wedding reception...His cake had Star Wars characters all over it as well...:rolleyes1 :sail: :darth: :yoda:
Great!!! I'll have to look it up in my Passporter when I get home! :banana:
I think I found the website online http://www.rustysseafood.com/
After looking at the menu I can honestly say the most appealing item on the menu for DH would be the Philly Cheese Steak ....He's the only person I know who goes into a seafood restaurant and orders a Philly Cheese Steak, lol!!!
I need to get my mom and sister's cabin an fe....
anyone have any ideas what they are bringing??
I think I know what I want to bring, but I can't tell you that would ruin the surprise.
Ok, I just thought I'd sneak in during work and see what's new..I can tell you that we are NOT a quiet group!!
Now all of you 20 and 30 year olds are making me feel OLD!!! I'm 45 and Jim is 47. We have two boys 21 and 19. We love Disney (luckily both of us have this gene and the boys have it too) camping (both boys were in scouts - hence the 2 Eagle thing). We both love the SJ Sharks (hockey).
I'm the creative one, like to sew and craft, but havn't had much time to do that lately. I'm a Meeting Planner by profession (thus the OCD when it comes to details) working for a Mortgage Insurance company so things are really stressful at work. I just hope I continue to have a job. I LOVED the HP books, but haven't had much time lately to read any of the Twighlight series.
Jim is a computer geek and right now is totally into Second Life. He is/was a huge Adventurer's Club fan and would spend every night at PI at the club on our previous vacations. I'm hoping to surprise him with an AC themed FE.
We would also like to link up dinner reservations with some other Disers for late dinning. We don't mind kids (heck if they aren't ours, we can ignore the fussy one's cause we don't have to take care of them).
Ok, well this little break was a good one, but I better get back to work.
how funny!
I signed up for to receive their coupons so if I get any will post here. hey, the accountant in my likes to save here and there.
I am thinking we'll leave here around noonish and be all checked in and to the room around 3. Maybe hit the pool and then go to dinner around 7ish. I know we will all be wired around then!
so do we have any meets planned.
I'll do the same (posting any coupons) for Milliken's Reef. The food there looks good (as does Rusty's)!
Shasses: My husband is a little like yours. He'll be checking out the chicken dishes at the seafood restaurant, unless I'm paying...then he'll have the lobster!
As for meets, I'd say the Radisson WILL be a meet (since so many of us are on it)! We'll try to make it, though would prefer not to miss sail-away!
As for FE... I have a great idea I am working on. It's going to be a little pricey, but should be useful AND cool. I just need to figure out some of the design details...
Eagle Mom
We are old too. haha. My son is 22 and my daughter will be 20 on May 19th. They are both in college right now and he graduates in May. The Disney trip was kind of for his graduation. He wanted to go back to Europe but it is just too expensive now.
My wife does scrapbooking as I am sure lots of you guys do too. How about showing some of your scrapbook pages?
I am going to post this over on the main cruise board also.
