Our FE is finished! My wonderful SIL made this for us! :worship: We love it! All I have to do is put our pirate Mickey heads on the ends!!!:woohoo:

This is a beautiful FE!

Tim: Congrats to your son! I know you are very proud of him and your daughter! Wasn't the weather here beautiful today? It's killing me to be on call because I can't go into the mountains (cell phone won't work) and enjoy the scenery...

Question for all you repeat cruisers. Should I plan on bringing clothes to change into after dinner? I was planning on bringing capris and short sleeve shirts for the days and a little nicer stuff for the casual dinners but was wondering if people changed into "comfy" clothes for the evenings (you know elastic waist, flowy tops) so it doesn't show the buldges from overeating at dinner).

J

I was wondering the same thing. DH plans on switching back to Shorts after Dinner as that is how he is comfortable, but will he be allowed in the clubs or theaters with Shorts?

Yes, he'll be fine! You'll see people still in formal wear on formal nights in the clubs and people in shorts. Whatever makes you feel good! We tend to go both ways. Sometimes, we just go in formal wear to enjoy feeling like we are having a special "night out" and other times we can't wait to change into our comfortable clothes!

Thanks that helps. I'm planning on bringing some long yoga pants to change into. I tend to get cold WAY easier than most so I think with the a/c it will be the best choice plus they have an elastic waist so if I overeat I won't be uncomfortable.

I just packed all my clothes (except for pants) I bought five pairs of black capris and now have to decide exactly which ones to take. We will be shipping one box with all of our night wear stuff to arrive on Monday or Tuesday before the cruise so I'll only have to schlep a carry onto the plane. Should I plan on bringing my hairdryer? I seem to remember some talk about the hairdryers on the ship not being great, but I can't remember if that info is current or really old.

Thanks!!!

I can't say on the hair dryers. I have naturally curly and very thick hair. If I use a hairdryer, I look like a mix between a 1970's Soul character and a poodle! Hopefully Val, V, or some of the other ladies will be able to answer your question.

:rotfl2: IKWYM! Sorry I can't be of any help with the hairdryers! My natural curls just don't do well with it either. I haven't used one in probably 25 years.

I've been wondering about the swine flu myself, but am sure that Disney will know the best thing to do. While I really want to visit Cozumel we don't have an excursion planned there.

We are planning on chaging after the dinners/shows. I figure that we will wear whatever we wore to dinner to the shows and then go change before you go to the clubs, relax on deck, see a movie, etc. Jason will definately be changing into shorts every nightl. Some of the dresses I'm bringing are even more comfortable than "comfy" clothes and they are baggier so I can eat till I'm miserable! :thumbsup2 I'm planning on bring maybe one jean skirt, one khaki skirt, and a pair of black shorts that I can change into with a more casual shirt.

I always bring a hair dryer no matter what. I have very straight very thick hair so curls aren't an issue, but I find that most hotel type hair dryers take forever. I did get my hair cut yesterday with a few more layers so that should help with the thickness!

Jane - Are you still updating the FE and DISers list as updates occur? I just wanted to make sure that if you are not I'm keeping mine update, but if you are I'll just wait until the next updated copy comes out. :)

I've been putting together an outline for our mini-navigators!!! :yay: Since there are soo many DIS rooms on this cruise that's going to be alot of copies so I will probably use very limited color on the copies I print and bring to the port. But the electronic file I sent will be colorful that you can print out for your souviner copy! Hope this will be ok with everyone.

Kathy, Tim, and Cinda--I got all your updates and/or changes for #1&2 done! Thanks for reminding me to change them. Tim, do we have a family pic of you yet?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your FE!! I love Mickey and this is super cute!!:thumbsup2

Belinda: I'll wait for your email and get the file to you ASAP!

Epcot Crew: I'm a little jealous that we decided to change plans and just head to the port...:sad2: Sounds like you all are going to have a great time!

Cinda, I will email you shortly:) Do you want me to foward the file you sent to me? We will all miss you at Epcot and definatly be thinking of you!;)

I'm with you girly!! My hair is natural curly and very very thick and long!! Hey at least you and I would be perfect on 70's night in the clubs!!:rotfl:

ANDY and ASHLEY- Love the pic of the kitty!!! So so cute. I hope Sammie gets to feeling better soon!

VAL- I love the story about you and your honey! That was so sweet and touching!:lovestruc Congratulations on your anny!! We need to celebrate on board!!!:goodvibes

Finally got all the materials together and made myself sit down and do it. This is my homage to the Adventurers Club.

We're 80% done with the magnets (unless I start printing some more).

Very cute! I love it!:thumbsup2

I think I finally figured out how to post a picture! WOW that was easy :confused3 I never tried before!

Lovely family pic! Thanks for sharing!

She did an awesome job! Very nice!

I have was out allll day running errands. I am so not leaving the house tomorrow! Well, I might need to food shop, but that's it! I'm exhausted!

I was wondering about the hair dryer situation myself, but I figure I'm probably better off just bringing mine even though I hate to carry it. Those odd flat-ish ones a lot of places have just don't work right for my hair. I have fine, straight hair and it air dries really weird a lot of the time.

I love that bag, btw. I like bright colors and it's very vivid and colorful. Very fun!

Thanks for fixing that link for me.

By the time the trip comes I'm not going to want to get out of bed. :P Well that's one reason why I'm trying to get the running around done now. That way I can try to calm down before we go and I can also be home as much as possible those days before for my cats. I don't have the independent types.

I am loving all of the FEs!!! Can't wait to see them in person!!

Andy -- picture of Sammi is terrific! I need to make a magnet of Cuervo for the door to surprise Yoni and the kids.

Cinda -- thanks for your advice on the flu. It is getting scary. A friend of mine who lives outside of San Antonio has her kids all week -- the schools have closed because of the flu. Just goes to show, we don't have to go anywhere, the potential for the flu coming to us is there. Pretty scary! I guess it is time to make sure my kids really wash their hands and take their vitamins!

I will be bringing my hair dryer. I have thick straight hair like Lynsey and most hotel hair dryers take me 3x as long as mine.

Jane -- yoga pants sounds like a GREAT idea! I live in those around here in the winter/fall. I'll bring a pair with me in case it is cold -- they are oh so comfy too! :thumbsup2

Val, I am so glad you had an awesome anniversary. Sounds like you got some great gifts. We are glad you didn't go back on a cruise for your anniversary this time -- we get to celebrate with you on our cruise!!!

Ok, it is late and I am beat. My sister gets home tomorrow so back to normal with just the 2 kiddos running around. Her kids are great but it is still a lot of work with 4 versus 2!

Have a good night everyone!!!

Hi Val:)

Could you please add these updates to your page one for me.

Our Vow renewal wedding (5/21) is at 5:30pm on secret deck 7!! (as of right now, crossing fingers that weather is perfect):bride::groom:

(so maybe you guys can sneek a peak from above):cool2:

Also on our VR night, we have Palo for our post ceremony at 7pm.

I am also going to try to find a better pic for you to post, I will look this week.

Thank you Val;) Hope you have a great week!!

You thick-haired girls need to share a little. That way your hair will dry quicker and I won't have to put so much effort into giving it poof. Everybody wins! :P

The ironic part is my hair for some very odd reason takes a long time to dry, too. Most if it anyway. I used to change it a lot when I got bored. I've left it alone a long time now. I also chopped it (it used to be a lot longer) I could swear it's missing being tortured.

You look like you have very nice hair Mati, so it looks whatever you do is working for you.

Jane - Are you still updating the FE and DISers list as updates occur? I just wanted to make sure that if you are not I'm keeping mine update, but if you are I'll just wait until the next updated copy comes out. :)
Yup I've been updating anything that has come up this week. I'll send out an update tonight.

We started packing - I know a lot of you have picked out your travel day outfits, but do any of you plan exactly what you are going to wear each day? I did and then was telling Jim when he was gathing his clothes and you would have thought I sprung another head. He said "Do you mean you know exactly what you are wearing EVERY day?" Uh, yeah...I was trying to get him to pick shirts that would coordinate well with mine so we would get some good pictures. I guess it started when I was traveling a lot, I always write down my outfits so I know I have enough outfits and all the accessories to go with them. Please tell me I'm not the only one...

I'll toss the hairdryer in the box to ship. Sorry, I've got thick hair (straight in the front, but wavy in the back) and if I take a shower before dinner it will look really weird if I don't dry it.

Crossing my fingers that this week will fly by.

Good morning to all of you infants. We both graduated in 1973, long before most of you were born apparently. But we got to enjoy the late 60s and early 70s as teenagers - peace love. :hippie:

OK, mes enfants... I think Bob and I win for the rocking chair set! How about 1968? We are really from the dark ages! Of course, if we have been married 40 years that tells you we are pretty darned old! Has anyone ever heard of Dark Shadows? I remember my twin sisters (that were only 17 months younger than I) had to rush home from school every day so they wouldn't miss it... The guy that played the butler on The Nanny was on it when he was a young man!:rotfl2:

Hi everyone! I've been MIA this week but as Mati shared, I don't have to have surgery until AFTER the cruise! It will put me down for a while but I'm okay with that (I know, sounds a little crazy but I'll be high on disney)!

I have caught up reading all of the pages but don't have time to comment on everything I want to!

The FEs look awesome! I handmade mine last year and so I get to use the same one since we didn't put a date on it!!

I would definitely bring your blowdryer. This is DCL #4 and I don't leave home without it! The blowdryers on the ship are like hotel dryers but are weird because they are like a vacuum.

A while back someone asked about the Exotic Rasul. Hubby and I did it the first 2 times we cruised. Last time we splurged for the villa because it was our 10th anniversary. A few warnings about the Rasul....
1. It gets VERY hot! We have tried it in the evening and first thing in the morning. I just have to tell you that we burned the hell out of our feet (sorry for swearing but it was so hot)! They give you plastic sandals but the amount of water in the steam room area was over my feet. But the part where you smother each other with the different products they give you is fun. You will pamper each other and be creative as you want to be. I don't know what any of the products were for but somehow my skin felt better when we were finished!
2. Take a watch in with you. They knock on the door to give a 10 min warning but if you are in the steam room thingy area, you can't hear it:rolleyes1
3. The rasul isn't for everyone. Some like to be pampered in a relaxing environment. I wouldn't say this is the right thing for you (unless you want your hubby to pamper you)!!

A tip about going to the spa......

We had a couples massage a few years ago in the morning. We got off and went to the beach in St. Martin. I fried myself!:scared1: I put sunblock on in layers but because the oil that they massage you with is in your pores, you can't avoid it! PLEASE be careful to anyone having a spa treatment in the morning and then going into the sun! Especially going to the beach!

I can't believe the trip is only 16 days away for us. We have been taking out numbers off our countdown since 50 and we are getting down there. Maybe tomorrow I'll take a pic of the countdown that's left!

We went shopping for the girls yesterday and still have a few things to get for them. Now me.....that's another story:upsidedow. Will be running a little tomorrow to get a few things knocked off the list.

Mati-I can't believe they shut down schools for the week! It's amazing where you can get all of those little germs...and it's so hard to avoid them! I'm so happy that our grocery store here keeps wipes outside by the carts because ewwwwwwww.....they are so gross!!

Cinda.....another ewwwwwwwww!! I shared that story with my husband and we both laughed until we cried. We needed a good laugh tonight!!:rotfl:

We usually always change into something more comfortable after dinner. They seem to have relaxed on some of the dinner dress rules so with capris or jeans on, we might stay in them depending on weather. Also depends on what we are doing after dinner!

A few little tips that I have learned from 3 DCL cruises:

1. Bring a power cord. Seems kind of bulky but with laptops, cameras, video cameras, ipods, etc....you'll need it!
2. An over the door organizer really comes in handy. This can either be the long ones or even a shorter one with 6 pockets from the dollar store. If you are traveling with 2, you might not need it. When you have kids (especially little ones), you are apt to travel with more medicine, etc. Also, with girls, we have hair products, hair ties, headbands, etc. It just helps to keep everyone organized.
3. We do laundry mid week. With going 2 days before and 3 days after, it's too many clothes to pack. We do it at night time when we woudl be in the cabin anyway and it only takes like 1.5 hours. Would rather do that than lug another suitcase of extra clothes! Sounds like a pain but is really a lifesaver!
4. Realize that you can't do everything! I tried the first 2 cruises to do as much as we could with 2 little kids. I nearly passed out walking off the ship! Last trip, we took it a little bit easier and we enjoyed ourselves so much more! At first, I went on the ship with all of these high expectations of what I wanted to do only to have a mad husband and 2 tired and cranky kids! Just realize that you can plan until you are blue in the face but I will tell you right now that you don't want to disappoint yourself! Just ask my husband!!:headache:
5. We have sent a box every time we've cruised and it's been there when we get into the room! The size restrictions have changed this year.
Cinda, did you mail your box? I think I read that. What size was it? Did you put a packing list on the outside of the box?

I can't remember the rest.....ask questions if you have them!!

Sonya...you better ask them quickly as you pack up the last few things!

I'm off the print a few things off and go to bed. Been a long weekend!

Hugs!!:grouphug:

Hi Peeps

Will look back over the weekends antics in a minute . . . I just need to get this off my chest. I am so worried about this swine flu!!!! It will be bad enough if we have to miss Mexico (the one reason I picked this cruise above the Eastern :sad2:) but I could cope with the port being closed. But do you think there is any chance they will close the parks to stop it spreading?! I am really worried I am going to have two weeks in Florida locked in a hotel room!!! The wouldn't shut the parks, would they?!!

I know there are no cases in Florida, but I am such a panicker!!!!!!!

I am really worried about going to Mexico. Would Disney change itineraries & not stop there? I am going to call them everyday twice a day to voice my concerns. Is anyone else worried?

I have Nachi Cocum booked & am now seriously considering canceling it...first drug cartel concerns & now this...I think it's a sign.:scared1:

Also on our VR night, we have Palo for our post ceremony at 7pm.

Glad to hear that your plans are all coming together!!! I would LOVE to be able to view your VR. I'll have to remember to add it to my list of things that I want to do onboard. Which deck would you be able to see it from?

We started packing - I know a lot of you have picked out your travel day outfits, but do any of you plan exactly what you are going to wear each day? Jane... I wish I were that organized but I am not... I have my outfits picked out that I plan on wearing when we drive down and when we board the ship but I don't really know what I will feel like wearing from day to day on the ship. I basically am bringing a few different options to wear each day. It's a choice between sundresses; shorts and a T-shirt; capris and a top; or a combination of those three....not to mention the formal dresses that I am bringing and don't get me started on the shoes......I am such an overpacker!!!!
