~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Finally, my sister's youngest, her "surprise" baby and I. Calista will turn 6 on May 22. Not that we needed an excuse for the cruise, but that is an excellent reason--do we agree? We are waiting for the MVMCP parade in 2007 in this photo.
Disney_Jan_08_-_060A.jpg
So now we can be spotted, and will enjoy recognizing all of you in person!
Barbara
Hi Barbara! My daughter is turning 6 on this cruise as well - she is turning 6 on May 17th!! We are so excited to have her birthday in Key West - that day is going to be all about her and what she wants to do. I am sure she will want Key Lime Pie on a stick....;)
Her 6th birthday is our excuse for the cruise as well - loving it!!
Boy I'm gone from the boards for one day and the posts have been flying.
First of all thanks for all the birthday wishes. It's been a great weekend so far. Not great for the diet (Boss brought in fresh baked bagels on Friday, Friends took me out for lunch, we went out to dinner last night and will be going to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner tonight). I'm trying to be good with all my choices, but the cheesecake tonight will be a MUST. Just trying to decide what flavor to have will be the hardest part. Yesterday was very hectic. I took my Mom out shopping for clothes. She recently lost 60 lbs from illnesses and such and she looked like a bag lady in all her old clothes. I've finally got her to understand that we can do SO much more when we take the wheelchair, but getting in and out of the car, trying on clothes, etc it was exhausting! When I finally got home had to jump into the shower to get ready for the evening. I had bought Jim tickets to see Jeff Dunham (ventrilaquist/comedian) for his birthday in January and the show was last night.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kXOg23pGeA&feature=related
(Andy, the show was in the Sharks Tank). It was a great show. Today, Jim is taking Steven out to practice driving, Brendan is over at a friends playing Dungeons & Dragons and I get to catch up on the boards (and work on my FE
). I may go out to do some more cruise shopping - I really don't need any more clothes but I've got the bug...
Now on to the replys..
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the concern. I'm doing MUCH better today. I went to the DR and I can get my IV out tomorrow!!! WOO HOO!! That means I will have full use of my right hand and can drive. I've been going stir crazy!
I can use 3 fingers on my left hand and can kinda bend my other 2. I can now hold things in my left if they are light, but still no pressure.
I'll be continuing oral antibiotics for another week and then re-evaluate. Starting hydro therapy as well. Infection sure did a number on my tendons.
Thanks Dr. Cinda for the understanding update! :D
Glad to hear you are feeling better!!
I was just wondering how many of us Dis Key Lime Pirates are dressing up on Pirate night? What about husbands. I'm still trying to convence my hubby too.
We're wearing piraty shirts and headscarfs. I found a really cute silver pirate wrist cuff at Sears.
LOL, Will they have the games on the ship? I would love to sit and watch my ducks win the STANLY CUP on my wonderful Disney Cruise!!! LOL:happytv: (Hopeful Thinking!!!):wizard:
Ashley and I are dressing up for sure...I HOPE OUR TABLE Will to so we don't look to ridiculous!!! lol:rotfl:
Jim did the calculations and it looks like they will be in the final round of the playoffs. I can't imagine that there wouldn't have it on some bar tv.
I also laminated and then used sticking magnets; however, the magnets have been pretty contrary sticking to the laminate. I've tried super glue but it's kind of hit or miss. I think I might see if I can pick up some magnet paper somewhere.
I haven't printed my magnets yet, but I got some glue dots (from the scrapbook supplies section) that is really strong. Someone at work was using them to glue gift cards onto note cards and I had to remove them. Trust me the glue is STRONG!!! took me for flippen ever to get it off the cards.
I have a big work banquet that I'm putting on next Saturday so I have lots of work to do with that this upcoming week.
Sounds like my line of work (Corporate Meeting Planner) I've got a big event on Tuesday and then prepping for a Board of Directors meeting and then smooth sailing (pun intended) till departure day.
My sister and I and 2 of her 3 daughters are going on this cruise, too. We are extremely excited.:cool1:
Welcome to our ever expanding group!!! Just looking at the cabin numbers it looks like you are our groups highest room!
No cruise docs yet. Did a little cruise clothing shopping today and decided it's a water diet for me from now til the cruise :scared1: If you're wondering who the crazy person is that is swimming in the pool with their towel still wrapped around them, IT'S ME! :lmao: I gotsta get with it & OMG is my skin so pale that I am reflecting light. :rotfl:
Well everyone will have to figure out if its you or me. I'll be glowing right next to you. I'm of German/Finnish decent so even though I'm putting on the liquid self tanning stuff - I really can't see much difference and still could blind some with my pasty coloring. I go from pasty white to lobster red REALLY quickly if I don't slather up with sunscreen.
Hey there. I just joined the site a moment ago. I've been reading all sorts of stuff like a madwoman today and I just found this thread. I'll be on this cruise, too! It will be our 1st Disney Cruise. 3rd Cruise ever. We'll be celebrating our Anniversary & my Birthday that week. We don't have children, so we'll be cruising adults only - at least chronologically speaking. :P We booked it not even 24 hours ago so I have a lot of catching up to do now! :woohoo:
Welcome to our cruise!!! Once you reach 10 posts you'll be able to upload photos. Just tell us some more about yourself what are you looking forward to, your names (so we don't have to call you littlespark and littlesparks hubby) and do it all on separate posts. You'll have reached 10 in no time.
Here's something else I found on the main thread for breakfast options:
  • Topsiders for buffet breakfast, approx hours vary, but 7.30am 10.30am, earlier on early port arrival.
  • Lumière's for sit down, Times vary, sometimes brunch, like Key West 9.am to 12 noon
  • Goofys galley for early Continental breakfast, say from 6am
  • Parrot Cay for buffet breakfast, approx 7.30/8am start
  • Room service, order times on card.
  • Pastries at Cove Cafe
My OCD needs to know stuff like this. :rotfl2:
Cool - thanks! I'm going to add that to my list of tips.
Val - I am SO going to Wal-Mart today after Jake and I get back from a program at Purdue and get a few mats. Do you just leave them at guest services and ask for character signatures? (insert mom brag moment) Jake is majoring at Physics at Purdue (I'm the Math one in the family, I think he got the Science bug from Brian :)). His first semester last Fall he made the Dean's list after working his butt off. He finished HS 3rd in his class with a 4.07/4.00 GPA (he has a strong internal drive, I NEVER pushed him about grades, just asked him to do his best). They have a ceremony at Purdue and then each school has a reception. He wants tp do research on campus this summer, so the reception may be a good networking opportunity. I'll be back on the boards this afternoon :)! ~ Kathy
Kathy - way to go on raising a great and smart kid. It's great when they do something to make you so proud!
I'm going to go out looking for the mat as well. Love the idea. Which direction would you suggest? Do they take most of the photos landscape or portrait for the formal shots? Do we need to include the markers?
I was wondering if there was anyone interested in Geocaching on Castaway Cay with ashley and I. We found 3 that are close enough to check out!!! And if someone wanted to join it would be super cool!!!!:thumbsup2
Hey - tablemate - I think this sounds really cool. We were planning on renting bikes and doing that first thing before it got too hot. When were you going to do this? I've always thought it sounded like a lot of fun, but we don't have a GPS device.
Now a question for all of you - does anyone have a 30 GB iPod? I have a little 8GB that I use at the gym and to listen to podcasts. Jim got me a 30 GB one for my birthday so I could watch longer videos. My question is can you upload videos from DVDs that we already own or do I have to purchase them online? How does the whole rent a video work from iTunes does it automatically delete after a certain amount of time? Any tips will be helpful. Its a reconditioned one so there isnt any manual and I figured I'd ask here first before trying to find info on the web.
Off to write a grocery list!
J
I guess names might help, especially since my husband is a bit anti-figment (mainly to bust my chops), so he doesn't deserve to be called Mr. littlesparks. hehe. I'm Robin and my husband is David.
Jane- Jeff Dunham is amazing, I have always wanted to go see him!!! The shark tank sounds so cool!! I have also wanted to travel to Anaheim CA. to see a Ducks Home game...I would probably die of a heart attack though!! :rotfl:
As far as the geocaching, we have no set time...but if you two were interested in coming we could make a time!!! Morning would be our choice...i would imagine that would be the 1st thing we do on CC!!! Ash and I would love for you two to come!!!:cloud9:
I'm sure my niece will be very excited to wish your daughter a great big Happy Birthday! :flower1: My husband and I were on a RCCL cruise in December, and we stopped in Key West. What a fun place. Hope the weather is perfect for your little one's Big Day.
Calista is looking forward to the Oceaneer Club, and hanging out with the other kids.
Hope the shredding is going well. Have to ask--are you an Indigo girls fan, or are you IndigoDisney for another reason?
Hi Barbara! Thanks for your well wishes - we are all so excited. I love the name Calista - it is one of my favourites.
The shredding is going well but I am up another lb....so maybe I am becoming more muscular? I don't know...weight loss just exasperates me sometimes.
Indigo is my favourite colour of blue - and I feel bad I don't use my real name - I am going stealth on this board, no photos, no real names etc. My BIL is not right in his head and we don't disclose any information on the internet as we don't want him to know our plans, etc. We are estranged from his family but that doesn't stop them from stalking us. No facebook for us. I actually felt it was a bit risky above to give DD's real birthday <sigh> it sucks to live this way.
I can't wait to actually introduce myself to everyone - I am hoping you will all be impressed by my shredded body - LOL :lmao::lmao:
Here are some photos, so you can recognize us.
Barbara, your first 2 didn't show up. :confused3 If you can redo them, I'll post them on #2 for you! BTW, the one of you & Calista is great!! :thumbsup2
Expecting? Goodness, no! lol I'm not expecting to ever be expecting, for the record. lol The One Little Spark is a Figment reference. Figment being the cute little purple dragon I have as my avatar. I meant chronologically adults only because I'm turning 35 on that cruise, but I'm often enough more like 13. :D
OH, ROBIN, I AM SO SORRY!!! :blush: OMG, I can't believe I even thought that! Maybe it's the occasional baby talk that floats around here from time to time. I didn't know what Figment is--otherwise I wouldn't have said that. I just did a quick search & saw it is a character at EPCOT, which I've never been to, so again I sincerely apologize! :rolleyes1
Justin has a 30GB, so I'll check with him. I do know that some movies are now coming with a digital copy, which is what you use to download to an ipod. My MIL bought Bedtime Stories last week, and it came with Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital. I'm not sure about the renting, though. I'll check & see if my tekkie (Justin) knows and will get back to you!
Cinda, can I get the Key Lime Pie-rates one? Is it here on the boards?
Yes, but the file is far better if I send it to you via email (it's a Power Point file). If you email me at my screen name at yahoo dot com, I'll reply back with the file!
Lynsey & Cinda & Jane & Carole--I'm also feeling left out by the Twilight talk. I'm not a reader either.
Cinda--I'm wondering if I've missed something in my quick skimming...you had someone do a transfer for you? I tried to find transfers at Hobby Lobby today, but all they had were the fabric (sew on) ones. Justin has a guy that does his company's shirts, and he just got a new machine for short runs, so he's going to have him try it with your ~*~*awesome*~*~ design. I hope it works out right, but just in case it doesn't, I'm going to need Plan B.
I had one of the Disigners make t-shirt designs for Adam and I (not with our actual cruise group logo). She recommended someone named Amy's transfers (AmyMickey or something like that....there is a thread about them on the Disigns board), so I ordered them from her. They haven't arrived yet though... Bacially, I took what she designed, saved it as a power point file, and will print it onto the transfer paper. I like the logo I made ok, but I wanted something a little different for sail day and all... Welcome back BTW!
Happy Birthday (sorry I'm so late in posting)!!! Jeff Dunham is amazing! We've seen him 3 or 4 times now and always enjoy his shows! (Adam REALLY loves him so much that we have every DVD and even a stuffed talking Walter in his office!) We are hoping he'll come around our area soon...
I have a 30 GB IPOD and have downloaded videos before (whole movies in fact). As far as I'm aware, you pretty much have to buy them from iTunes. I paid $5 each for the ones I bought, but lost them when I changed computers. I hardly ever use mine, but do find it kind of nice for travelling. I'll probably bring mine with it's little speakers for our room just to have some nice "tunes" while getting dressed!
Lynsay: When you mentioned awhile back about having problems finding jean shorts, I thought that was kind of odd... I've now been to Knoxville and all over town and still haven't found a pair that fits well.:eek: I'm really not even sure where else to look. So... As much as I'd love to have some for the trip, I guess I'll be buying some black +/- white shorts instead...
Val--Thanks--I am a newbie at picture posting--hopefully, this will work.
Here are my sister and I last year--best buddies. Can anyone guess the location?
Here are my nieces. The oldest, on the right, can't go because May 23rd is prom night. Next time! Calista and Alexandra are all set to go with their Mom and their Aunt Barbara. Can anyone guess this location?
Disney_Aug_08_-_108C.jpg
That's our crew! TTFN! Barbara
Barbara--GREAT PIX!! I've got them on #2 now! I can't even begin to guess where they're at (assuming WDW somewhere, though) because I'm not a WDW visitor--I went once when I was 12. :blush: Obviously from my previous snaffu to Robin about Figment, I'm not very up-to-date on WDW stuff. :sad2:
Jane--so Justin says that you can go online for help since there's no manual that comes with the ipod--the manual is all online (I asked him to dig his out so I could look at it for you, and he said he didn't get one with it, but I know he has found answers to other Q's that he has had before). He wasn't sure, but he thought if you open itunes and then put a DVD in your DVD drive (must have a DVD drive), it should pop up & ask if you want to download to the ipod (this must be how it works for CD's, which he has downloaded hundreds of). He wasn't sure about rentals, though. Maybe kind of spendy? HTH!
That is Primeval Whirl!!Come on, give me 10/10!!!!!!!! I am a real wuss so I consider myself braver than brave to go on that thing each year! Last year we were strapped in with a 5 year old who shook her head in disgust at my screams the whole way round!!!:rotfl2:
Wow -- everyone is getting super excited! So many new folks -- that is AWESOME!
I spent the day shopping with Sabrina who hates to shop BUT we found a lot of clothes for her on clearance at Disney & the Children's Place. Now I just need to set them all out and make sure I have the right clothes for her. I also found some super cute outfits for Kai at Costco (gotta love Costco) and bought my snorkel set. It is getting so so close!
Oh, btw. My birthday is on the 21st of May (35 - ugh! :P) and our wedding Anniversary is on the 19th! (Hence the reason we typically make that our vacation week.) To make matters even crazier, my husband's birthday is May 5th and even my father's birthday is May 10th. I'll be running around WDW with him celebrating on two of the precious few days I have left to plan. lol And er, yeah, since I see it comes up here a lot too, there's always that incessant dieting/exercise thing to try to keep up with. I'm definitely a part of that club, too. ;)
Hi Robin! My husband Yoni is turning 35 on the 21st too!!!! We married in 2000 so a bit longer than you two. Fortunately I am a December baby so not near as hectic as it seems you are.
Here are my sister and I last year--best buddies. Can anyone guess the location?
Great pics Barbara! I guessed Primeval Whirl too -- I should know, I didn't ride it so ran around the queue with my son looking for my husband and daughter!
Wow! You are good! The closest I could come up with was "somewhere in Dinoland"...
CORRECT!!!!! You are brave! You have gone back in time, and you have survived the asteroid! (and the queasiness....):cool:
