~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~ Part 2 ~~~ Key Lime Pie-rates ~~~
I emailed both the Sheraton and asked them for details on reserving a day pass. Hopefully I will hear back from someone in the next day or so. I tried emailing the Wyndham but both attempts bounced back. I'll call them tomorrow if I haven't heard back. I'll let you all know what i find out!
DB's GF's dad passed away this morning (completely unexpectedly). No info yet on what is going to happen. Her father lives in another state and may need to be moved to FL, his home state for the funeral. DB & his GF are discussing if they are going to come on the cruise or not.
will keep everyone posted for the FE
So sorry to hear this. Hoping for the best, given the very sad news. Barbara
anyone doing the Atlantis? I think we may just wander around for a bit - we've been before and did a city tour and ardastra gardens as well as the straw market.
FYI - my kite order is not going to be here before Saturday, sorry for the inconveinence to those that I was going to share with.
I am really disapointed about Cozumel too. I really wanted to go there. I knew we would probably end up at Nassua so I emailed the Sheraton on 4/30/09. This is the response....
Hi Everyone, Michelle from the 5/2 western checking in. I just remembered something since you guys are now going to Nassau. I don't know about your cruise, but on ours, if you were scheduled for the Dolphin encounter or swim in Cozumel, Disney will automatically change your excursion to the same in Nassau and honor the lowest price (Cozumel or Nassau). However, you can change it to something else if you prefer as soon as you get on the ship. Just FYI. Have a happy cruise!
Hmm. For Nassau, I was thinking something like an organized beach day. I mean the kind where you're hanging at the beach but there are ammenities, like food & bathrooms. The last time we were just on our own on a beach. So that sounds like it might be the sort of thing. Of course we'd have to cab there then I guess. Last time I took a cab but I was with a whole group, not just the two of us. I'll have to keep snooping at this thread for ideas. :)
I'm so sorry this has happened. :guilty: We'll be thinking of you...
The change sounds good, Better safe the sorry!!!
Ashley and I decided to leave RIGHT NOW!!! So we are venturing off at 5! What we will do is just take our time instead of barrel down!!
Wish us luck! We will check in later tonight from some location, probably 4 or 5 hours away!
Have a wonderful trip!
And, yes... I'm VERY bummed about Cozumel. Probably won't make any plans for Nassau. Glad you all are going because otherwise I'd probably cancel! We'll see how the cruise goes, but I figure it'll probably be our last on DCL. Too many other choices that take better care of their customers... (Sorry if this offends anyone, but it IS the way I feel.)
Could you add my mother and me to the margarita tasting preferably the one on Monday.
I'll get you all added to the list on the mini-nav. I don't think I have your all's first names. Would you mind to share?
That's terrible to hear. Our thoughts are with everyone.
You all just couldn't stand the wait any longer could you!!! Have a great road trip.
I am also a little bummed about Cozumel, but feel that Disney's hands were pretty tied since the CDC hasn't lifted their warning on travel. I'm also guessing that the port choices were pretty limited with all the changes on RCL and Carnival. I really believe they've done the most they can. Just an unfortunate situation! Oh well, we could stay at the dock in Port Canaveral and I would still be thrilled to be on the boat!!! :cheer2:
With the schedule change I went ahead and changed Jason and my couple's massage from Thursday at 3:15 to Wednesday at 2. Not sure we'll plan anything special for Nassua. Maybe walk around or go over to Atlantis or maybe we'll just hang out on the ship!
With the change does anyone know what they will do about Pirate Night and Semi-Formal nights???? I wan't to try and get the mini-nav updated as good as possible. I would like to get the schedules as close as possible to how they might be our week, but hopefully all of you will understand if the dates don't match up! :goodvibes
According to a post on the main boards (based on the 5/2 cruise):
Formal Night: Monday
Pirate Night: Tuesday
Semi-Formal Night: Wednesday
We had Palo on Tuesday, which I definitely want to change since we did Palo on Pirate night last time and felt like we missed some of the "fun."
Can't guarentee this is correct, but it's probably pretty close.
Sounds great. That would seem to make sense that they would move semi-formal to be on the new day at sea.
I did theSheraton before ,but didn't have to book a room. It was like 40$ it included lunch. I'm trying to find it. If i do i will let everyone know.
That's exactly what we are looking for. Has anyone heard of Cabbage Beach in Nassau? It is a free beach and from what I've read you can rent beach chairs and there is a bar that serves pretty good drinks. It's a $5 cab ride per person to get there. I need to do more research but I think that we may do something like that. There are reviews about it on yahoo's travel sit. Here is the link.
Mati,
I think that I read before that you guys and a few others from the board were doing the stingray excursion in Grand Cayman. Was that through Moby Dick tours or another operator? We planned a big day in Cozumel so since that's not going to happen I think we may do the stingray excursion.
V -- if you are reading, thanks for posting the pirate night question on the main board. That helped a ton!
Thursday is Yoni's birthday so being the good wife that I am ;) I told him he can go diving again (on his own thus leaving me with the kids). If he does, I think we will stay on the ship since I don't see myself with 2 little ones on a beach by myself ANYWHERE (Texas or Nassau!). If he doesn't, then we will probably go to the Wyndham or Sheraton and have a beach day. I emailed the Sheraton for specifics and will call the Wyndham tomorrow. I think that it is $40 pp at the Wyndham but includes a $30 food & beverage credit....
Amanda -- please send our sympathy to DB and DB's GF. I can't imagine dealing with that right now and I am so sorry that has put a damper on your vacation.
Ok, back to packing or slacking (I am tired!)......
ONLY 2 MORE NIGHTS!!!!
Tiffany -- Sabrina & I are doing the stingray & island tour excursion via DCL. I had the Moby Dick one booked for the four of us but cancelled. Let me tell you -- they are FIRST class. No problems with any questions or cancelling so late. The ONLY reason we are not going with them is because both me and Yoni will be off the ship and Kai is staying on board. I want to be guaranteed we will get back in time and the only way to do that is via a DCL excursion.
Both Kathy & JorDan are doing the same Stingray excursion so that definitely helped sway my decision :goodvibes. We would love to have you guys join us!!!!
Tiffany,
When we did the sting ray city tour we did one it was called stingray city Reef sail and snorkel. It was three hr tour around 40$ for adult, 30$ kids it included a snck and drink. We loved it it was on a catamaran. We booked threw DC.This was one of the best things we ever didon an excursion so far!
The one threw Capain Marvins also has a pretty good review.
MATI!!!! REPLY ASAP!!!!!!!
Chad and I have been talking and we decided that I shouldn't Scuba Dive. He refuses to go without me.
So if Yoni is going to dive in Nassau now??? Let me know cause then I can convince Chad to dive with him!!!
Ok, just said he would 100% dive with him and then you and I can go play on the island together!!!!
I'll hang out with you!! Then we can both watch a little one....it'll give me practice.
I'm super bummed about not going to Cozumel. I was REALLY thinking we would go.
Belinda, gosh darn hormones...I cried for you today. I'm so sorry about the change and I hope everything works ok.
Thanks to all for your sweet comments, I will pass them on.
we also switched our couples message to Wed with the switch. I think i booked us at 2 as well, so we will see you guys there.:hug:
I was wondering if you can go to Atlantis and just walk around. I have a feeling our big boys may want to check out the casino. Anyone know what the deal is with that?
Also, I was trying to find the info, but where is are 1st official meet. I know it's at 3pm, but where?
Amanda- I'd say we might just run into you all at the spa then! :goodvibes And as an official reminder to everyone.
Our First Official Meet will be held on Saturday at 3:00 pm in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3!!!!
I can't wait to meet all of you!!! :grouphug:
