:scared1::scared1::scared1:MAJOR PROBLEM:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I went to go tan today and only laid in the bed for 6 minutes. I BURNED!!! I am on medication that makes me more sensitive to the sun so I am stopping that IMMEDIATELY(the medication, hopefully not the tanning). Has anyone else had this issue and any clue as to how long after taking the medication before I am ok or going out in the sun again??

UGH!!!!!

OUCH!:headache: I'm sorry!!!
When do you get off the medication?
My antibiotics made me sensitive. I stopped them on Sunday and went tanning on Wednesday. I got a tiny bit fried too....but I think I should be ok to tan again tomorrow.
I'm sure Dr. Cinda has a better answer for you.
All I know..is DO NOT go on the cruise with light sensitive medication if possible. I did once and I got 2nd degree burns. My entire chest burst into blisters when I got back to Utah (didn't help that I went from Hot to FREEZING!) Very painful.

Also, we just booked a rental car today from the Port. We went with Dollar, you call them when you get off the ship and they come pick you up. Hopefully it's not a hassle!!

Did anyone see the Florida Residence Rates! I got A FREE UPGRADE TO DELUXE OCEAN VIEW and not to mention a great deal of $$$$ money refunded !!!!!

:thumbsup2
Well, let's just say that I had a VERY close encounter with the flu yesterday

Eeek! Best wished on good health. I've found with my mom (who is an RN) that even though she's around sick people all the time she seems to never get sick!

DH and I are going to get manicures and pedicures the Thursday before we leave for our cruise.

Very, very impressed that you are getting your DH to do a manicure!!!Well it is a "MAN" icure after all. I don't think I could ever get Jason to do that.

I went to go tan today and only laid in the bed for 6 minutes. I BURNED!!!

Oh no, keep the lotion slathered on so you don't dry out! I agree with JorDan that you won't have to take the medication on the cruise. My grandparents are big travelers and just a month ago my poor grandma got burnt on their cruise then every picture of them after that first day she is wearing this gigantic white floppy hat, too funny!

Belinda you need to just take a minuted to breathe! No matter what happens the day will be wonderful and you will be beautiful. :bride:

Jamie - that's an awesome deal on airfare, congrats.

Ok so my parents left today and are flying to Ft. Lauderdale and then renting a car to drive down through the keys to spend a few nights. I've sent them on a key lime pie tasting mission to let me know where I definately can't miss.

We all went to Hawaii but this year my sister (the blonde) cant go due to work.. If you see us please say HI!:dance3:

FYI: As some of you know, my parents are sailing the same week as us on the Carnival Glory. Their May 2 cruise itinerary changes are now showing Nassau, St. Thomas, and St. Martin (was Nassau, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Belize). If Carnival can change to good ports, Disney should be able to consider this as well. Sad that the "party line" is doing better than DCL in port re-arrangement and communication... (BTW The are also giving a cruise credit for anyone wishing to cancel in light of the changes...)

Mati: It depends on what medication you are on... If you need advice, just PM met and I'l be glad to help.

Update on the "Flu Fiasco"... After TONS of administrative red tape and multiple discusions requesting that I postpone the surgery, I was finally able to do the operation around 7 pm. The patient had a necrotic (rotten) gallbladder with impending perforation (which can be deadly or at least very, very bad). Luckily, it came out easier that I expected and the patient did well. I have to say though that all the "red tape" with worrying about a flu in this patient could have cost his health greatly. Amazing how an irrational fear can modify behaviors so much that care is potentially compromised...:confused3 I'm just thankful I didn't cave from the pressure...

I'm heading to bed! I saw patients in the office today and then went and did 4 surgeries. I've been on call since Wednesday and am on call until Monday! We also have friends coming into town tomorrow, so it's going to be crazy! Hopefully, I'll be able to round early (and possibly do one quick surgery)and get home before my friends arrive!

Sonya: Hope your travels are going well!

/
Tim - Thanks for the packing list. I want to compare it to the one I've already started to make sure I haven't forgotten anything.

Cinda - glad to hear the operation was successful. I hope your weekend goes smoothly - enjoy your guests.

Laura - good luck with the room assignment. The wax treatment was fantastic! You dip your feet in the wax and then they wrap them in plastic bags and then put warming booties on and sit for 15 minutes. It makes them all soft and smooth. I wanted to do the treatment early so I'd still have time to put on my tan from a tube. I'd go for it.

Mati - Im so sorry about your burn. I hope its not too bad.

Amy & Sue - congratulations on your upgrade AND refund.

This weekend will be loaded with packing and last minute shopping. I want to ship off my box on Wednesday so it will arrive at the hotel on Monday or Tuesday. I also have to return a bunch of capri pants and the black sandals.

Everyone needs to make sure they get lots of rest and stay healthy!!!

Jane

JorDan -- yup, I am pretty sure it was the antibiotics. I stopped them today. Cinda -- going to PM you to make sure I have it right and don't FRY the next time I tan. Lynsey, already started on the lotions. I am hoping that I can try again on Sunday (have to take M-W off since am in California for work).

Cinda -- such a relief your surgery went well. I have been thinking about you all day since you told us about it. I told Yoni and he couldn't believe how paranoid everyone was. I am glad you were an advocate for your patient. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you lived here, would love to have you as a doctor (plus, could certainly use the "fixes" :lmao:)

I hope you get some rest and don't have to work too hard this weekend.

Amy (&Sue) -- What a GREAT picture! It looks like you guys had a blast. And way to go with the Florida rates and upgrade :thumbsup2 . Between the DCL rates and the thought of partying with V every now and then -- almost makes me want to move to Florida! ;)

Ok, just finished watching High School Musical for the first time (with Sabrina). I have to admit -- I kind of enjoyed it! I am now ready to see HS2. I am thinking we can watch the third one on the ship. Am I a dork or what??:rolleyes1

Hopefully I will get some rest tonight and be nice and chipper after coffee in the morning. I hpoe you all have had a FABULOUS Friday night!!!!

Sonya honey, I am thinking of you and Tony and wishing you both happy and healthy thoughts on your journey here!!!!

OMG....Can it be??.....really??
Drumroll please :rockband:

:laundy:I am all packed!!!:laundy:

WOO HOO!!! I'm so excited, I'm bouncing off the walls (too much Diet Coke). All I have left to pack is fold up my dresses, 1 pair of shoes, flat iron and makeup!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!

I grilled my hubby about all his clothes choices and have them all laid out and ready to pack. Unfortunately we have a family wedding next weekend, so he has to wear his suit. So once that's over, I'll be packing all his stuff.

Thanks Tim for the packing list. I've been writing things down that I'll need to remember to pack once it's closer. (had a nightmare about camera's last night, so I'm double freaked out I don't forget things like that!)
My office is a wreck with clothes everywhere of my hubbys and suitcases. But we are good to go!

I also FINALLY received the last part of my FE gifts....but I called the company and complained, so they sent me another shipment free! hehe:banana: So you'll all get double a little surprise.

Cinda, glad the surgery went well. You kinda can't live in fear, especially if someone's health would be MORE at risk if you didn't do the surgery. Interesting about your parents cruise. I'd be SO upset if I didn't go to Belize (we want to scuba there SO bad).

Mati- yip those darn antibiotics will do that! If you can stop taking them, then that'll help TONS! It seems to me that if I didn't tan on Thurs. then I would have been fine to tan Saturday with no burn. So I'd say 5 -7 days to clear the system. But then again, I was on really strong antibiotics for 2 1/2 weeks!

:welcome: to our new cruisers!

Have we decided on the "official" tastings day/time for our group? I spent this evening creating my Excel itinerary for each day and really felt sad as I was working on the Saturday May 23rd worksheet :(.

I guess I'll have to be extra careful. I'm on prenatal vitamins that make you sensitive to the sun and suseptible to burning but I can't stop taking them. I guess I'll have to go with a higher SPH sun screen that I was planning. I may plan on taking a couple of different SPH and switch it up as needed.

hi, just checking in from the airport! Flight seems to be on time and no one had sneezed on me so we're good to go!

Have save journeys everyone, and see you all soon!

Take care xx

Great job! I just got my shipment of shorts and t-shirts so I have to start gathering all my things, do a TON of laundry, and organize things so I can start packing.

Cinda, I'm glad the surgery went well.

Mati, I'm sorry about your getting burned. If you put some aloe on it in addition to the lotion every now and then, it may get better faster. Thats what I usually do.

Sonya, I hope your travels are uneventful and you arrive safely.

I've got stuff everywhere. Hopefully I get in all in the suitcases this weekend.
My poor Simba and Harley (our cat and dog) they know somethings up!!!:rolleyes1

hi, just checking in from the airport! Flight seems to be on time and no one had sneezed on me so we're good to go!

So glad you checked in Sonya!!! Have safe travels and we all can't wait to see you!!:)

I hope everyone has a great "packing" weekend!!!:cheer2:

Thank you to all of you for the wishes on our VR working out with the possible port changes. I don't know how'd Id get through the day without you guys!!!:grouphug:

Yay Jordan. Now just come to Memphis and I will gladly hand over my packing to you. =)

Cinda, I am also glad to hear that you and the patient are doing well. Good job of busting through the res tape.

Holy i missed one day...and theres 7 pages to go through! Everyone is getting excited with 2 weeks to go! :cloud9:

There is not much more that has do be done on our end! Everything is packed, the car is ready for the trip, money is takin care of!! Not much more needed to be done! Ashley has 3 lists going and most of it has been checked off!! LOL

Hopefully DCL Comes up with something exciting as far as replacement ports! But if not, were away from home, in some of the clearest water in the world...Ill be happy with anything! lol:hippie:

It's Saturday morning, cup of coffee in hand :surfweb: (and no, nothing fancy in my coffee) and TWO things have me excited. One -- OMG, we are going to be getting on the boat in TWO weeks and Two -- the Swine flu news is becoming less and less front page news. I think it is going to be a FABULOUS day don't you???

OMG....Can it be??.....really??
Drumroll please :rockband:

:laundy:I am all packed!!!:laundy:

WOO HOO!!! I'm so excited, I'm bouncing off the walls (too much Diet Coke). ......

I also FINALLY received the last part of my FE gifts....but I called the company and complained, so they sent me another shipment free! hehe:banana: So you'll all get double a little surprise.

Ok Princess JorDan. Now how on earth is it possible for you to be PACKED so far in advance? I am still wearing half of the clothes we are taking and still need to buy the other half! I am totally and completely amazed and impressed by you :worship: (and a little bit scared). Can you come help me please? ;)

Also -- WOO HOO on the FE gifts. We like double the surprises!!!!:hippie:

Have we decided on the "official" tastings day/time for our group? I spent this evening creating my Excel itinerary for each an really felt sad as I was working on the Saturday May 23rd worksheet :(.

Ah my lovely Kathy -- you know, have been thinking about this all week long and have been distracted by that dang thing called work (ok, and maybe a little panicked with this flu thing but that is so yesterday's news :rotfl:). I wish they would just give me the next 12 (did I say 12? Oh my!!!!) days off so I can pack and get ready. I will look at it today and send out proposed times. If our itinerary changes, we may end up with a different day for the second round of tastings but let's plan for nothing changing ok :thumbsup2

Wonderful precious Alison (we will take care of you on the cruise you know considering you are more than just you!) -- yes, you need to be extra careful. Yoni FRIED last time we were on a cruise -- that sun is STRONG. I am hoping to be normal by then but will still use at least a 30 if not a 45. The doctor told us that we all need to lather up in the morning before we get dressed with a lotion and then touch up throughout the day with a spray. She said the spray was not good enough for the first time but on top of a lotion should work....

hi, just checking in from the airport! Flight seems to be on time and no one had sneezed on me so we're good to go!

Sonya, love, you should be landing about now right? I hope you can't answer that. We'll see you soon!

Oh Mati....I'm so sorry to hear about your burn:sad1: Please be careful and maybe us some aloe to help keep the heat down....Please take it easy so your good and heathly for us in 2 weeks!!;)

Beautiful Belinda -- thanks for the advice. It isn't that bad. Just a slight pink and really in the areas that aren't normally exposed to the sun :rolleyes1. I think I will wait until I get back from CA though to try again. Does anyone know -- can I use a lotion in the tanning bed? I know it sounds odd but I usually tan with an SPF15 on....

Jane, that sounds so wonderful!!!! I love getting pedi's!!! I'm going next week. Boy do I wish they had something like that here!!! I'm jealous:goodvibes

I need one too! Belinda, why don't you come on over and let's go together? (man, wish we were that close!) I think I will go to the local "shop" and get one done right before we leave. I did book hair & color for next week AND am going to see my eyebrow lady the Tuesday before we leave so I won't look like the UNIBROW woman from that commercial.

Yay Jordan. Now just come to Memphis and I will gladly hand over my packing to you. =)

Jamie darling...thank you for making me feel more normal. Sabrina still owes Jalen an email (and Faith) but it has been hard since the battery pooped out on my laptop. I'll make it a priority for this weekend.

But if not, were away from home, in some of the clearest water in the world...Ill be happy with anything! lol:hippie:

Andy -- babe, you just sunk me right back to my pit of despair. HOW on EARTH can you possibly be packed. You guys just blow me away!!!!! As for being away from home -- totally agree with you.

Ok, so you all have me inspired. Will make a packing list (based on everyone else's)today and start to do a real inventory. I will also do the inventory on the FE gifts AND nail down our dates for the tastings. Hmmm.....did I say today? Ok, will get it done this weekend. Today, we might go to a Vappu celebration. Vappu is a Finnish holiday (in essence for May day) and I found a local group of Finns! that are having a Vappu picnic in Dripping Springs. We haven't met them yet so may head over there this afternoon.

Now, off to make some eggs -- a mom's work is never done (except on Disney with the kids in the Kid's Club :thumbsup2).

Have a GREAT Saturday!

Awwe!! I didn't want to do that!! All the packing, list making, and final touches are all part of the BIG picture!
:cloud9:Basking in the sun aboard the Magic! Enjoying a slice Key lime Pie!:cloud9:

If it was not for Ash, I would be lost as far as all the packing, and small things...I would leave with a bag full of t-shirts and socks...lol
