~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~ Part 2 ~~~ Key Lime Pie-rates ~~~
oh my - I need to get on the stick! I need pirate costumes for DH and I, orrder the tux, print magnets, get the FE gifts in order.....yikes!
Morning all,
I'm in a rush, but just wanted to post...
Yes I'm one of those freaky packers, where I put aside clothes weeks ahead of time and do NOT touch them. I hate laundry and would rather wash the same clothes over and over, then maybe miss a shirt I need to bring.
Also...everyone DO NOT forget to make copies of your passports, drivers licenses!!!!!! I'm making 3 copies of each one. Leaving one at home in the safe, one with my parents, then bringing one to leave in our stateroom.
Sorry for another thing to add to all your lists!
Welllllllll ---- turns out Mother's intuition was right. Kai didn't have allergies (and no, no flu) but he does have Strep! He is doing fine, will go on antibiotics and can even go to school on Monday but, for once, am so glad I took him in instead of assuming it was "nothing"!
Arlight -- off to the pharmacy. Need my kids HEALTHY for our trip in TWELVE days!!!
I have started packing today and I am the same as JorDan would rather not have to do laundry right before we go. My problem is this damn 5 lbs which means most of my clothes would look so much better if at least that much was gone. Too late now - I am a Shred Drop out
Ah my lovely Kathy -- you know, have been thinking about this all week long and have been distracted by that dang thing called work (ok, and maybe a little panicked with this flu thing but that is so yesterday's news :rotfl:). I wish they would just give me the next 12 (did I say 12? Oh my!!!!) days off so I can pack and get ready. I will look at it today and send out proposed times. If our itinerary changes, we may end up with a different day for the second round of tastings but let's plan for nothing changing ok :thumbsup2
Ok, so you all have me inspired. Will make a packing list (based on everyone else's)today and start to do a real inventory. I will also do the inventory on the FE gifts AND nail down our dates for the tastings. Hmmm.....did I say today? Ok, will get it done this weekend. Today, we might go to a Vappu celebration. Vappu is a Finnish holiday (in essence for May day) and I found a local group of Finns! that are having a Vappu picnic in Dripping Springs. We haven't met them yet so may head over there this afternoon.Have a GREAT Saturday!
Mati ~ Great, I look forward to seeing the "official" tasting times/days for our WONDERFUL group. What better way to get to know each other than with a little alcohol involved :)!
I hope you all have fun at your Vappu celebration today. Brian and Jake drove to Dripping Springs (yes, all the way from Indiana) to get our dog Belle (a Blue Heeler, Australian Cattle dog) about 10 yeras ago. Brian had researched on the internet and found a breeder in Dripping Springs. Did I make that looooong drive? Nope, I stayed home, took some vacation days and had peace and quiet :)! ~ Kathy
Thanks Indigo! Actually, you wouldn't know he was sick. No complaints about the throat, nothing, just the cough. He is still my active little Kai! As for the 5lbs -- I have more like 25 I would love to be gone but, alas, you will meet the "before" iimage of me now :rotfl2: and then hopefully we will all go again and you can meet the "after" image of me then! :thumbsup2
We are all for meeting with a drink in hand -- just our style! In fact, I called ahead to this Vappu to see if they were ok if we bring some beer/wine. It is easier to meet new people for both us of us if we are relaxed. (we also called to make sure they were comfortable with us bringing Kai) Hmmmm....makes me wonder. Kym, do you guys like mimosas? Starting to think we may have to have some sort of bubbly in that limo on the way to the port. Are you in?
ok I started my packing.....
V -- are you just trying to make me out to be the loser mom? I am not packed for my business trip on Monday let alone for our trip to WDW/DCL. In fact -- I think I am going to "raid" Sabrina's stash of clothes for the trip so she has something cute to wear for this Vappu party that doesn't look like a short short short skirt.....
I guess I would get more done if I would just ignore these boards wouldn't I? ;) naaahhhhhh -- it is too much fun. I can always pack the morning before we leave right? :laughing:
Kathy -- almost forgot. Cuervo came from Dripping Springs too! I guess they have a lot of dog breeders in that little town.
I just checked DCL and while no room assignment we now have main dinning. Yahoo at least one thing came through.
Have been reading up on how to check in since we are staying at the Hyatt. Looks like one of us can get up at 6AM (which is really 3Am for me ) (we don't get in until Midnight :scared1: and go to the Welcome Desk (where is that) and check all of us. Then can go back an Sleep for a little bit longer and then head down to catch the bus we would be schedule for which I am hoping is 9:30am.
I will probably volunteer for that since I generally get up at 5am most mornings. So if you run into me that saturday morning I will probably look terrible.
Mati - Sorry about the Burn. I am someone who burns very easily even without drugs in my system. Even through I am from Arizona, I am still very very white. Oh Well. You reminded me that I should probably bring a hat for this trip.
Mati ~ Wow, it is a "small world after all" :)! You would never know that Belle has Texas roots. She LOVES winter. The colder and snowier (is that a word???) the better for her :)!
Hello everyone. It has been awhile since I posted. Been trying to catch up with all the posts. I spoke to DCL last night and asked about a few things and then hit them with a request for 2 days at CC instead of the Bahamas. I was told that this was a decision that has already been made and that they would most likley not change it.
Last year on our September Disney cruise we had a rainy day for CC and the Captain decided instead of a day at see we would have another day at CC. I hope that happens this year. I think if enough of us call and ask we could make an impact on this. I was told that there were a number of calls already. So lets gang up on them.
I guess I should cancel our driver for Cozumel......wonder if Pirate night will change?
There is nothing official I dont think but I just swapped our dolphin encounter to Grand Cayman. Better safe then sorry. I was affraid that it may get fully booked.
Just called DCL and asked about the potential port change. I got the standard "they are monitoring the situation daily". I am such a planner, that this unknown is bugging me (just a little :)).
I can't believe this is so soon....and darn it....I didn't lose any weight that I wanted too! Oh well! I am just ready to be on vacation!
Hi Barb...
Amanda did this with pillow cases on their last cruise for my grandsons, they looked great but unfortunately the markers were not fabric/permanent style and it washed out... Just buy the right kind of markers and you are in business!
Carole
Thanks for the tip--definitely need a fabric marker.
Looks like you are part of a large Virginia group--your family, I guess. I hope you all have a wonderful time. My family often does the extended family group vacation, too. (Just 4 of us, this time.) I value those big group vacations so much. Everytime I see a photo from one of these vacations I think about how wise we are to make time for each other. So, I hope yours is really special.
Barbara
