~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~ Part 2 ~~~ Key Lime Pie-rates ~~~
Morning everyone. Finally got up with my TA yesterday and suggested that, although I was sure she was busy, it would be great if she would PUT MY DOCUMENTS IN THE MAIL. You will love her excuse: she was waiting to make sure there were no more itinerary changes (was she planning to send them out next Saturday morning?) Even more fun, I asked her to call and confirm the 10:00 shuttle I reserved (on my own) back in January, and she said she had in her records that she had us put on the 11:00. :scared1: She has promised to fix it, we will see. I am a very positive, go with the flow kind of person, but this is absurd. This is the second agent we worked with in that office, the first sent us our insurance documents, and had the coverage starting 2 days after we left home and ending the day before the ship docked (she was let go before too long, must have been other issues because we didn't complain.) I won't be going back to AAA vacation anytime soon. Anyway, done with that. Sorry. Lets go cruising now.
2 Eagle Mom - I actually cringed when I read about the thing falling into your gums. I'm glad you got that taken care of! (and now I remember I haven't flossed since I went back to the dentist and I'm going to have to :/)
Thanks to you and Val for answering about the magnets. I do like to try to avoid getting on Disney's bad side. ;)
Mati--did you get home okay last night?!?! :rolleyes1
Jane--I hope your tooth is all better now! :grouphug: Thanks for posting the KLP addresses again! :thumbsup2 I can't wait for PIE DAY! :rotfl2: GREAT LGMH, too! I think I might put that on my bag instead of a Home Depot one! :goodvibes And thanks for the internet info. Justin thinks we need to be watching the price of one of our stocks that has been going up significantly lately, but I don't think we'll want to take the time to do any trading while on vacation!! Although they've jumped quite a bit in the last few days, so...:rolleyes1
Here's the "map" (if you can call it that) to Polar Bear Ice Cream:
It's literally around the corner from the dock.
It's hereX
Man, Idol is getting tough to watch when it gets this close to the end!! I think they ALL did great, but (in my opinion) I think it's going in the right order. I wasn't a BIG fan of Allison, but she is good, and I'm sure she'll be famous. I just think the guys are better. Danny really didn't do that great on Tues, but I'm glad his fans still voted for him since he should be in the finale. I just hope we get to watch it onboard!!!!!!
Anne--YOU STILL DON'T HAVE YOUR DOCS EITHER?!?! Why would she wait until Saturday to see if there was a change in the itinerary?!?! It doesn't have any effect on the docs! :confused3 I wasn't going to go back to AAA after last time, but the OBC was too good to pass up (I have a total of $500 now!!). :woohoo: I just waited until the last minute to transfer to them.
Morning everyone -- this is pretty much me, including the droopy eyes -->:surfweb:
I got home at 1:40am this morning. Got up at 6:30 to take the kids to school (hadn't seen them in 2 days). It was worth it -- Kai told me "I've been missing you Mom!" which from a 4 year old -- well, he is just learning how to express himself. Of course my princess was happy to see me too. I tried going to back to sleep but not much luck. My mind is racing with all the things I have to do!
Jane -- thanks for the Mickey Head. I'll make us all some luggage tags (Mom has a luggage tag thing for the laminator. Now to get the photo editing done right (just downloaded the Waltograph font). If anyone wants me to make them one, let me know and I'll do my best.
The mall was a bit, ummmm....odd? I am glad I found shorts but for some odd reason didn't feel particularly safe there? Not sure why but you know how sometimes your intuition just kind of makes the hair in the back of your neck stand up? Well, that was me at the mall yesterday. I am scared to get on the scale now so will probably wait until tomorrow. I did workout yesterday though so that is something! :thumbsup2
So, I missed Idol but know the results so tell me -- is it worth the 2 hour investment to go back watch it on DVR? I am toying with skipping it since I heard they weren't all that great. What do you guys think?
Marcy -- we would love to have you join us for the meets! I have never ridden test track so can't wait to ride it and a night time ride sounds like fun!
Stitchlover -- Congrats on finishing your LAST final EVER!!! Wow -- how exciting and what a relief! It will be one big celebration on the ship!
Robin -- I can't believe you knew someone named Matilde. That is wild -- needless to say, it is not a common name. I am named for my Grandmother. It was a tough name growing up but it is mine so I am keeping it! ;) I don't think my personality could handle being called matild or something like that. Too formal and I am anything but formal!
Did anyone ping Jamie on FB? I can send her a quick message if not. Would be interested to see if she got a new room!
We are on the 6th floor too but midship. Was hoping someone we knew would be next door or across the hall but so far, no luck but maybe Jamie got moved there?
Kim, did the passport arrive? I want to know you have it in your hands....
Ok, busy day today. Will work on magnets, FE gifts and packing list (made it on the plane and shall I say another "oh my!") oh, and yeah, supposed to work today too. I do get my hair cut and highlighted today! One more step towards the cruise.....and of course I'll go tan....:rolleyes1
Have a good day everyone!
For those of you who've done a Disney Cruise Before... I've never been on one that had free soft drinks and I was wondering how that works. I know there's a specific restaurant/room area where they can be gotten when not in the dining rooms, but I was wondering if we get to bring a cup or something so we can take it out of there and go sit on deck with it etc. or if there are any specific things about it I should know.
I just got a call from DCL -- soooo exciting! They were confirming our REAS package and all of the details. The good thing is she told me if they change our itinerary before we go, I can call her to change our Palo res and she gave me a direct number to them. I am worried our Palo night will interfere with pirate night. Anyways -- if anyone else booked this package, that is something that might help!!!!
Mati - If you can create one with Lucky1 and one with Tohono2000 (DH's DIS id) and you can just send the JPEGS to my email laurae at yahoo dot com.
I would love it.
Welcome Bill. I joined in on all this quite late, too. This will be our first Disney Cruise and my husband and I are also celebrating an anniversary that week. Our 8th. There are actually several more of us who'll be celebrating anniversaries while on board. :)
We will also be celebrating our 14th anniversary on May 19th.
That's cool ral68. So now I know I share a birthday with at least one other cruiser and an anniversary, as well.
The last time we went on a cruise was for our honeymoon and boy have we been wanting to go again ever since.
Those countdown images are killing me! They're too full of pink cupcakey yumminess. :P
Anyone know the answer to my last post about the drinks yet?
Ah, also does anyone know how many bottles of water we're allowed to bring?
(obviously I get thirsty lol) Maybe I ought to call DCL.
Robin, from what I have read on the boards, there are cups by the soda fountain on deck 9. They want you to use a NEW cup everytime (not your own bottle). You can bring a cup and then fill it using a clean cup by the soda dispenser. There is no limit to how much you can have.
Soda ordered via room service & at the bars is NOT free.
As for water -- don't think there is a limit but you are supposed to carry it on, not check it. I think we will buy water in Key West and just bring a few bottles with us initially.
I hope that helps and you experienced cruisers, if I got it wrong, please correct me!!!!
Thanks Mati. I called DCL. Unfortunately, the person I spoke with didn't seem to really know the answers to any of my questions and I spent a lot of time on hold while she tried to find out. I'm now being told yet again that one carry-on per person with the max dimensions of 14x22x9 is the rule. (I wasn't actually asking about that, but I was kinda getting answers about random things). That annoys me even if I can manage it, I gotta say. On an airplane there are obvious reasons why a carry-on must be small, but I don't think the bags on a cruise have to fit under your seat or in any overhead compartments. The last guy told me since I didn't have to fly I could carry whatever I could carry. Apparently that rule changed at some point. I'm leaving my laptop home, but I'm sure my hb and I will each have our matching Mickey Carry-ons, I'll have a purse & a cub condo. Even airplanes are only counting that as "personal items" now, so I hope they won't. Oh, I should also have the bear that's my avatar. Obviously I won't be hard to miss. :P
She also told me I could use my own bottle, but I think what you said above is probably very accurate and it's a good idea about refilling mine with their cups. Not very green, but oh well. Most of the time all I ever drink is water so I will need a good amount of that with me, even if I have access to junky drinks, which I'm more inclined to drink when away from home. The key west idea is a good one!
Mati and 1Littlespark (sorry bad with remember names) - I have heard of people that bring all their lugguage on the ship rather than going through DCL from the airline to their room. So I think you can carry on what can fit through the scanner. Just remember you will have to lug it around until your room is ready.
I think someone posted this tip a while ago, but I thought I would mention it again :). You can call DCL and verify/confirm how much on board credit you have. I was able to do this even though we booked through Dreams Unlimited. Just one less thing I need to do once we board :thumbsup2. I have MUCH more important things to do :dance3:! ~ Kathy
Rich--was that your Cinco de Mayo celebration? Wow! :thumbsup2
Robin--Mati's info is correct about the drink station, etc. There's a CVS a couple blocks from the pier in KW, which is where we bought water. :thumbsup2
Jordan -Thanks for the answers on my laptop internet ?. I hope free internet is still avaliable.
Jane- Thank you for all the prices on internet access on the cruise.Wow its a bit pricey. Maybe Trents teacher will pay the bill!
Mati- I am glad your back safe. I'm practiceing your name daily.I think Kai is adorable. My Trent was like that and i'm happy to say he still is. He's my big moosh. Really makes you feel apreciated.:lovestruc
:welcome: Newbies!
Shases -thanks for the count down.
I can't believe we are this close. I'm so ready for a :drinking1
