May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

On the Panama Canal we had formal on Golden Mickey night and Captains Gala night. Semi formal was on Prince and Princess night. Here is a schedule of the TA.

Monday, May 16 ... Prince and Princess
Thursday, May 24.. Captains Gala

I do not see the Golden Mickey's listed:confused3

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think we will get Golden Mickey's :sad1:. I don't think they have the costumes/set up on the Magic anymore.

On both Ta's last year we had 2 formal nights and 1 semi formal

One formal night was on the Prince and Princess night and semi formal was the last night - will have to go back and look up when the other formal night was.

People also dressed up for villian night in villian type clothes, black and white, etc.

Krisann

Thanks for this info!

2. Gibralter, apparently it is only 1 mile into town and then it is a trip to the top of the rock with a stop to see the monkeys (sans bananas- thanks for the tip) and the upper cathedral. Enjoy the view, support the economy and then back to the ship.

:banana::banana: Too funny!

My wife would be glad to teach a beginning course in bridge if you could get three other people to join.

My wife loves bridge and would be very interested in getting up a bridge game while on the cruise if anyone is interested. Only two months to go!

Just wondering.. does anyone like to play dominoes? Regular or 42 ? I haven't played in a while but I love playing dominoes.... I could bring some.

At a family reunion, my husband's grandma had us play "chickenfoot" with dominoes. It was really fun, but I don't remember the rules. Have you heard of this game? I'm up for learning 42 :goodvibes...please bring your dominoes if your weight allowance can handle it, they are heavy!!

Just noticed....FE Group 2 has reached 50 participants :cheer2: !!

This is very cool news and my kids are looking forward to delivering gifts all over the ship....that is more than half of the fun!

May I suggest that we now close group 2. We could then open a group 3 OR reopen group 1 once/if it has shrunk because of some folks no longer taking the cruise that had once signed up for group 1. Just a suggestion and I hope I'm not stepping on any toes.

I agree as I would like to complete my shopping list this week.

I agree also. I was hoping the groups would remain on the smaller size due to weight restrictions for luggage.

Agree too...just an idea...could we close both groups and even out the numbers with those that have confirmed? Hoping to get my FE done this week since it is spring break but not sure how many to make.

I love this idea!!! wait until I tell my mom!!! She will kill me!!! She is a youthful 61!

For shore excursions, I am not a ship excursion chick, so I have done my own research.

1. Maderia - We are going to head into town, I think that the market will be closed but we are going to take the gondala up to Monte and head to the tropical gardens, then I will hike the 7km Levada if I can find it! and then back down to the ship.

3. Cadiz, we are going to take the train to Jez to see the horse show and wander around. I have been to Cadiz before and if we have time I will show my mom around. We are huge horse people and I wanted the time at the stables that we would not get with DCL.

4. Barcelona, who knows! I have been there before, so I will check out some new area that we have not been to yet!

We are fine with anyone who wants to tag along! We like to fly by the seat of our pants and ususally end up having an amazing time!!

Now this is my 2nd DCL but my first with the FE and joining all your events! I am excited to check this out! My Disney-crazy friend is going to help me make my FE but any guidence you guys can give me will be welcomed! (I have learned a lot from google!!)

Later!!!

Sarah:hippie:

Sarah my mom, or grammy, is 72 (don't tell her I just mentioned this to everyone) and also young. We only have DCL excursion in Maderia so maybe we could do a port together...that is if you don't have an aversion to 4 year olds:rotfl2:

The shopping part of downtown Gibralter is only about 1 mile from the ship and a very easy walk but the location where the tours of the rock start is further south and a little bit uphill. Highly recommend four wheels instead of two feet to get there and then enjoy the stoll back to the ship after your tours, lunch and some shopping. As I've posted earlier, just be careful that your time in the caves isn't limited by your tour driver.

We were on the 2007 east bound and Gibralter was our favorite stop.

Did get my FE ordered from Ebay. I am just not a crafty person so I had to have someone else make mine. Now trying to figure out what to do for the gifts, etc. At least we are driving down now so I don't have to worry about weight limits on a flight and now I can also be sure to carry sodas, etc on with us.

Was nice to see someone else booked the same flight we did from Barcelona to Geneva to Washington Dulles. I had a go around with staff at Disney about whether this flight was too early or not. Finally they claimed to have spoken with a Travis in ground services transportation that said we just had to make sure we let the front desk know how early the flight was and that we should be able to arrange for a cab, etc to get us to the airport. He told me to tell them we had to leave the ship by 5 am.

We were able to add our flight thru DCL today! :) One less thing to worry about.

Now, onto more important things like excursions. ;) Does anyone know what happened to the Chocolate Museum in Barcelona? When you look at the main DCL page about ports adventures it is listed. But, when I log into my account & go into excurtions... it is not an option. :headache:This was the one thing ALL my kids wanted to do.
