May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

I think we should add Krissann MIL to group one Fe and close it. 15 cabins would be great !

Any other people could start group 3.

ETA: For Group 1 Sharkbait has 2 cabins..not sure if it was added to count.

Thanks! I went in and added her in one of the empty places! She will be excited.

Think we need to know everyone on list is still going , I think some ppl in group one already bought enough to cover the ppl in group not sure but thats how it sounded to me when it closed.

Maybe redo the 2 groups into 3 and put the none responses in the 3rd ?

Just keep me in all the groups please - I already have my gift and I have 300 of them so I want to be in any and all FE groups - don'e worry - they are small and flat so they will not take up much room either way.

It looks to me that Krisann is listed on both FE list one and two.
Not sure if I am looking at this incorrectly or if she wants to do both.

Nope - you are looking correctly - I am in both groups by choice and will do group 3 also if we have one! I have 300 of my gifts! And they are my favorite thing to give!

At a family reunion, my husband's grandma had us play "chickenfoot" with dominoes. It was really fun, but I don't remember the rules. Have you heard of this game? I'm up for learning 42 :goodvibes...please bring your dominoes if your weight allowance can handle it, they are heavy!!

Never heard of it but maybe we can google it and find the rules.... I like games. Maybe we can plan a game time to meet and play different games... when there is not much going on or by the pool when kids are playing... just a thought....

Wow KrisannB you rock!!! This is my 1st time to do the fe. I would be overwhelmed at the thought of 300. Lucky for all of us you are not!! :)

On the Panama Canal we had formal on Golden Mickey night and Captains Gala night. Semi formal was on Prince and Princess night. Here is a schedule of the TA.

Monday, May 16 ... Prince and Princess
Thursday, May 24.. Captains Gala

I do not see the Golden Mickey's listed:confused3

Where did you find this?

I agree. I want to say FE group 1 was originally 42ish adults, 4 teens, and 11 kids. I know I bought 11 kid gifts and 4 teen gifts. The adult gifts are more general. It would be nice if we could add more kids to FE group 1.

Sorry re-reading this now. I actually would recommend adding more to FE group 1 rather than splitting into 3. Whatever is decided, I will figure things out. The kids can always get more gifts. My only wish is to not have to buy more gifts.

I like the idea of by the pool!

Good idea about looking for the rules. I remember that when you played a double, you could play three dominoes off of its end (like a chicken foot)

I signed up but have not sent you the info yet - are we doing individuals or cabins? I would rather do a cabin swap than have all 4 of us do it individually (but will if that is the only way to do it). Will PM you . . .

Word of Caution - have learned this the hard way - until you get on board, nothing is written in stone as far as when what dinners are when and what nights are formal and semi formal - even if DCL has said this is what it is.

Last year on both TA's our semi formal was the last night (I think both, I know one was) and one formal night was on Prince and Princess night - everyone wore tiearra's and that was fun.

On my january cruise (5 day DD at castaway on the magic) we were told repeatly by DCL that we would have a formal night, everyone who called was told that - but told a different night, so we took our clothes, and once on board, no formal night!

Know that chances are from past cruises there will be 2 formal nights and 1 semi formal but be flexible about when!

I called about my air arrangements and they said there was a ticketing issue and they would let me know when it would be available. Hopefully, later tonight or tomorrow.

Hope you find out soon! Hoping you are on the 10 am flight to Atlanta with us! But there are just a handful of seats left! I went and counted 14 - and the row in front of us is open :) we are in 21.

Make sure you get your confirmation number from Disney so you can go on and change seats and review your stuff on Delta.

i am going to post this and it might be something to add to the first post or at least reference it for others (I am not sure if this applies to those not using disney transport to the airport - not air, but bus transport)

In 2010 we had a flight at 9:30 am out of BCN - this meant we had to get to the airport early - we were on the first bus to the airport via disney transfers.

If you had an early flight you were told to let them know so you could be put on the early list. We were given a letter telling us what to do but learned more from our stateroom host!

First, the letter said to keep all your luggage and meet at Rockin D bar, and that is where most people met with all their luggage. This was a nightmare to start with!

We arranged with our stateroom host to have luggage service for that morning, several days before. At the time we decided on, he showed up with a porter like cart, loaded our luggage and met us on deck 1 to disembark - he said we did not have to go to Rockin D Bar - and we did not! He met us downstairs, walked us off the ship (there was no customs like there is in Port Canveral) and he took our bags to the bus. We were not the first on the bus, but close to it. Now we did have to wait for all those people from Rockin' Bar D to come out and fill our bus up but that was ok.

Now the other thing to keep in mind is that if you are flying one of the discount airlines from BCN, especially to other places in europe, the lines for those airlines were LONG LONG LONG - even at early morning time! We flew KLM and there was no line but the other was out the door!

The next thing to keep in mind, things are done differently at Barcelona airport than in the states. You will go through passport control and then through security (or vice versa) BUT then you will go to a general waiting area with monitors where you will wait for your flight to be listed with a gate number. Gate numbers are not listed until like an hour (I think) before your flight (might be earlier for direct flights back to USA - but we flew to Amsterdam first last time).

Also - the European airlines do weigh your carryon! Some even tag it at the gate to let the gate people know it passes. We learned to put ipods, camera's, etc. in our pockets for check in, then put back in at security. Check your airline's website and if they have a weight limit for carry on's be prepared!!! Our scale came in very handy! While other times we were not weighed in Europe, they can be very strict!

Some people reported having issues with passport control because their passport was not stamped when entering Europe, we did not have this problem, they asked where we came from and we said the cruise ship and they sent us through. This time I will have my key to the world card handy (and I may have had that last time, do not remember) to prove where I just came from if they question us.

Hope this helps some of you . . . ask me any questions if you have any.

Krisann

thanks for all the great info Krisann. I thought I had read a trip report where someone said they were able to UPS stuff home prior to getting off the ship, does anyone know about that?
Any idea if we can check our bags onboard?

Very helpful info on the flights. We leave on a flight at 9:10 I believe. We so far have been told that we can't purchase Disney transfers that the time was too early. Not sure if that is something we could possibly take care of once on board? We were just told to go to the front desk and inform them that we had to leave at like 5:00 am.

I didn't know about the carry on weights, I will need to look into that.

Thanks!!!!
