May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

We are booked, well deposited! I haven't read any of this thread but did find the FB link. :thumbsup2 Are there 2 separate threads or is this the second installment??

It's just me & DH this time (Gary & Bev) & I'm 99% sure we are going!

Just need to see if we can afford to fly!! I'm going to check with DCL tomorrow to see if they're any better because so far I'm getting lousy results from Kayak! :rolleyes1

Hooray! Hope you can find great airfare. I'm still looking for a deal to get my MIL home. She will stay with us for at least a week after the cruise, so we aren't locked into dates for her to fly. We get to be flexible at least. We found super cheap tickets for our family to fly one way to MCO on Friday, May 13....I'm wondering if it was because it was a friday the 13th . For whatever the reason, I was happy to find it!

My fiance and I just signed up to do the D23 scavenger hunt at Disney world before the cruise, it's May 12th and 13th. Any one else signed up to do this or thinking about it?

Has anyone who booked their flights through DCL received any information as to their departure time or even the airline they are flying? It may be a little early , but I was curious.

I used DCL air in the past & at exactly 30 days out they always scheduled our flights & posted it to our res. I did have to call to get it then, but maybe now it will show up online, hopefully!! I always wanted to stay on top of it to make sure our seats were together & never needed to change them, fortunately.

I haven't booked this for our res yet, but I'm hoping to on Tues (pay day lol) and hoping that the rates are still low! I guess because we paid in full, any add-ons need to be paid immediately after booking....oh well. Gotta say, it's the first time I've seen DCL have the best rate!! :goodvibes

Finally book Transatlantic going over in May and bringing home in September has anyone booked excursions on their own and where can I find. I will be travling along and hoping to tag along ao I won't be alone. I don't like the excursions disney is doing. Seems like nothing interesting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

kcashner- I see you are on FE group 1 as a maybe, have you decided? You may have mentioned it and I could have overlooked it. I've been working alot lately. I want to get the supplies for my FE this weekend and get them started. Also, kwork11, are you lurking and not posting? Haven't heard from you for awhile.

Yes to FE 1. There are 2 in my cabin--myself and DD 20.

I got info from DCL saying that we should be informed about our air arrangements about 60 days before embarkation. I actually approached them with "It will be about 30 days, right?" and they came back with the 60 day info. Of course, that's from one CM, but it was one from the air desk.

Carolsherman--I did both TAs last year. I'm jealous! You'll love it.

No to anything in advance. Doesn't fit with the college schedule.

Welcome.
There are a few of us traveling solo on this cruise.
I have booked my excursions through DCl. On the early morning tours, I plan on having the whole afternoon to wander around the port.

I am debating about how many pants and shorts to bring. I have seen the posts
from people on previous TA saying it was windy.

I was thinking

1 pr jeans,
1 pr convertible pants
1 pr of capris ( also used for casual dinners)
2 pr of short

Should I add another pr of pants? I hate to be cold.

I am a chronic overpacker, so I am the last person to ask. Besides, I am always cold (once you've lived in Florida for a while, 70 is cold :lmao: ). But I don't think I'll be bringing any shorts. Possibly some knit capris to hang around on the ship and/or exercise in. A pair of jeans sounds good, and maybe some yoga pants or something to have variety and to wear for the flight home.

I'm probably going to be taking two pretty large bags . . . I am an overbuyer, too. :yay:

Hi guys! I'm an overpacker too and stsomewhere gives me inspiration to par it down! What does your packing list look like for evening/dinner?

I found some cute l/s terrycloth hooded robe type cover-ups for my kids. Yes, I know they'll be bulky, but if the kids want to swim and it's on the chilly side while crossing, this might help us extend our use of the pool. Luckily, traveling with kids allows us to bring 4 bags if we want. Are any of you parents thinking along the same lines? This is only our 2nd cruise with kids, so I'd welcome your ideas on packing for the kids.

Welcome, TxMermaid! Nice to see a kindred spirit onboard!

I noticed on the one and only other DIS cruise we were on (2009) that Ariel wasn't (ever) in the line-up to pose for photos/meet & greets. My youngest DD was sad about that, though she did meet her at Ariel's Grotto last year @ Calif Adv. Has anyone ever seen Ariel at an onboard photo op?

Hi Jill and Danny!

I'm Barb and my DH Dick were on the Panama crossing with you.

Remind me about an activity you did with the DIS group. Names and I have a hard time! We must "know" each other!! All the PC cruisers were fantastic people to play with.

We had so much fun on the PC that our two college sons, who couldn't join us, decided they wanted to do a repositioning cruise too. So they voted to exchange our DREAM & FANTASY ressies for the TA.

Looking forward to seeing a familiar face!! :earsboy:
