I'd also like to be in on the recipe exchange - I'll have to think of a couple of good English dishes :)

A quick question for the recipe exchange. If there are 15 of us in the group, does it mean that we do a card for everyone in the group ? :confused3

Yes. If the group is 15, then you give out 15 copies of your recipe.

Remember you can print it on recipe cards, use a copy machine and put them on paper, some people printed on a large sticker and then put it on the back of a postcard. No rules, no stress! :flower3:

Glad you're joining us! I'd love to have some family English dishes to try.

I admit, this activity is a bit self serving. I really enjoy cooking and trying different things. USA Regional and International recipes will be a lot of fun to have access to.

I'll be the person in the DCL dining rooms taking pictures of the menu choices and then of the food and writing spices, textures, flavors, and presentation ideas in a small notebook! My family is trained not to take a bite of their food until after they get the camera passed to them!! :rotfl:

See you real soon! :yay:

Barb,

I'm so glad that I won't be the only person taking pictures of the food ! We did this when we went in May 2009 and now when we go to a restaurant and the dish is really well done, my daughter Trista (7yrs old) looks at me and says : " So, are you going to take a picture because it's so pretty !" :rotfl:

Count me in also for the recipe exchange !

Welcome to all those new to the group. Please make sure you add your name to the 'rollcall' spreadsheet...you will find the link on the first page of this board. If you are participating in any of the events, please sign up for those as well. Looking forward to seeing everyone on board.

recipe exchange sounds like fun! I guess I got confused by the above - my apologies... but if they have 15 people in their traveling party (who are all participating) - wouldn't they give out 15 different recipes (1 from each person) so that the exchange is for the individual as opposed to the traveling party? Sort of like 1 per cabin?

Sorry! I just realized what was meant by "group" - if the "group" of recipe exchangers is 15 then we make 15 copies <duh> - I was thinking traveling party size and got confused. Sorry! Not enough coffee and too little sleep last night ;)

I understand NOT enough coffee! :thumbsup2 :surfweb:

Clarification to all.....It is one recipe to each stateroom on the list from each "person" in the group.

Now if someone wants to give ME more recipes I will really like them!!!!:banana::banana:

And we have sunshine and warmth, for February, in IOWA today. :yay::yay:

I am game for this. Both Arianna and I will bring a recipe card. I will sign up on the signup sheet.

We weren't planning to do the FE but would love to do the recipe exchange.

Maybe I'll just hang an envelope from the fish or something...

I was kicking around the idea of surprising the family with this cruise. However, I'm a big cheapskate. Has anyone found reasonable airfare back to the states(Chicago). Also there appears to be alot of cabins left, any chance in kids sail free poping up. Yes I'm asking the impossible to tell, :teacher:so pull out the crystal balls.

The cheapest I found from Detroit was through Disney.

Around $700 using AerLingus & Jet Blue....but you still have to get to Florida for the departure. I think a lot of people have found the Disney airfare to be just about the same.

Good luck!!

Any family or friends with frequent flyer miles they would donate? We turned in miles on American and ended up paying about $90 each for the misc charges on our "free" tickets from Barcelona via London overnight to NC on the way home. Whole lot cheaper that way that paying full fare if family or friends would help out.

We were lucky enough to book "open jaw" flights using Continental OnePass miles. Some airlines allow this, others don't, but it's worth checking. We're flying from EWR to Orlando, then from BCN to JFK. As noted above, the tickets are only "free" after you pay the booking fee.

We had hoped to use Hilton miles to stay at the Hilton Diagonal in BCN, but did not have enough miles to cover our extended stay. I was suprised by the rule of only 2 guests per room! We need 2 rooms even though our kids are ages 8 & 5. Heads up to anyone needing hotel rooms with children in tow!

Any military folks planning on taking a "hop" home? We are not booked yet for this cruise but really really want to do it. However the flight home for us and the 4 kids is outrageous! Don't know what to do. If I could just swim back to the States.....Our oldest just figured we could hang out until the Magic came back home! ;)

Thinking of booking this cruise, does anyone have experience with Disney's flight choices? I'm wondering about layover times. I'm good with a couple hours but with too young kids, I don't want to be sitting around too long at layovers..

Hello, my wife and I along with 16 son and 11 daughter are joining your adventure. The Boards appear a little slow compared to previous cruises. I am curious if this cruise will have low numbers. I guess this means I may actually get a lounge chair in the pool area.:yay:

Welcome to the group! There is also a facebook group going which you can find on page 1 along with other info. It does seem that most room categories are still available so I wonder how full the ship is at this point.
