May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

Thanks for taking care of the Champagne girls ! For the group photo, maybe we can do it on a sea day, maybe just before lunch, so that everybody can be in the photo ! I was thinking of the little kids that still needs a nap in the afternoon ! And the big kids ! I have one of those

Yes, thank-you Heather for taking care of us!!

I'm concerned about anyone missing out due to Palo brunch if we did it before noon. Perhaps kids will be napping later as the cruise goes on (and we keep springing ahead an hour every day!) and we would be able to squeeze in a group photo in the early afternoon? Or maybe 15 min. before early seating dinner would work on a seaday?

I did not think of Palo ! You're right ! Actually for me anytime would be good as we are just the two of us. This time, we are leaving DD7 at home with her grandparents :lovestruc

The Secret Mickey..... Everyone that signs up needs to contact me with the name, age and a little info about the person signing up. example would be a girl age 4 likes Ariel and Donald Duck. This will help the person that is your Secret Mickey to know what to shop for.
I will be assigning the names to each of you along with the info that person sends me.

I think a max limit should be $25 to $30... any thoughts on this?

I think it is nice to get a few small items to give out on several days over a single item but that is at your discretion.

We will have a meeting near the end of the cruise to reveal who your secret mickey is.

Any feedback would be appreciated....

Thanks for arranging the Secret Mickey group for us. We don't participate in the FE but Dick and I really enjoyed having the Secret Mickey deliveries on the Panama cruise.

Some thoughts:
We liked getting a final gift at the reveal gathering. Would everyone like to save one gift for then?

Last time, our Secret Mickeys were also doing the FE so we put their SM gifts in their FE holder WITH A TAG ON IT saying this gift was from their SM.
We did not have a FE holder and our gifts that wouldn't stick behind the fish ended up on the floor in front of our door. So this time I'm bringing a gift bag to hang on our fish for any goodies.

The maximum amount of $25 to $30 was a nice manageable amount to spend. We included some simple homemade things and check the dollar store for ideas, and were able to leave something just about every day for our Mickeys. That was fun and good exercise after dinner!

Would it be alright with others for an entire cabin to be a SM? If everyone in a cabin wants to play but didn't want to contribute the $25ish per person, then the cabinmates could give to one SM or another set of cabinmates. The gift information for a cabin of people would just need to be more general or each actual person would only get one gift specifically for them. Just an idea so more expenses doesn't stop anyone from joining us.

Looking forward to meeting you all real soon! :donald:

I think cabin mates would be fine, just have to stay in budget for the group instead of the individual.

My wife and I have been on Disney Cruises before but never knew anyone or planned anything before boarding, it looks like a way to increase the enjoyment. Does anyone want to set up a time to play bridge? Before children ,27 years ago, we played and enjoyed it. If anyone wants to play without stree we would be interested.
Can you go to PJ breakfast without wearing PJ's? Maybe just shorts and t-shirt?

I plan on wearing yoga pants and a t shirt to breakfast. Something comfy.

I would like to learn how to play bridge if you are willing to teach me.
Also how about backgammon... anyone interested in backgammon?

We could organize some mini tournaments in some of these or other games if anyone is interested.

I am very interested in learning to play bridge. This is the very thing I brought up to my MIL, that we could learn to play bridge on this crossing! She used to play years ago and doesn't remember enough to teach me. If anyone is willing to teach me, I would love to play, I learn quickly!

Yes to backgammon! I may bring along Phase 10, it is fun to play in large groups. I like Rummikub, I would love to be shown how to play Rummy with cards.

My daughter loves Rummikub. This is one of the games she actually brought with her to college. Cribbage is also a great tournament card game.

Maybe on CARNIVAL!!! :scared1:
DISNEY is family friendly and prefers that you don't go into the dining areas naked.

Sorry! :guilty: I hope I didn't scare you away from the DIS group!
WELCOME, and please join us for any activity. You don't have to follow all the "rules" to play...just show up and have fun. The DIS group, especially on a longer cruise, really adds to your enjoyment.

I like your comments, Barb:lmao:

When I was writing the invitation to invite my dch on this cruise, and I was selling the single ones on the idea of a Disney cruise, I pointed out that there was an adults-only beach at CC, but that, being Disney, adults only = no children, not clothing optional!

I once saw an obituary that ended with the line, "As always, clothing optional". I loved it and have made my family promise to include that line in my obit when the time comes. of course, I won't be around to make sure they do it....

Not sure if the bridge and backgammon would be too much effort for us - I think we are planning on being lazy :)

I would like to join the champagne girls - could I do so even if I don't drink? I'm sure 7up in a tall glass may look just like champagne :)

Hi, I saw you were closing the sign up for Secret Mickeys on April 25. If we've signed up, will we know who we have before the 25th so we can work on getting gifts ready?

Thanks again for doing this.

We would teach. It would be good to have some idea first . try this link www.acbl.org/learn/ltpb.html

I want to ensure the Roll Call reflects everybody that is still cruising with us. I fear some may have changed their minds and never removed their names from the spreadsheet. I looked quickly at a name and noticed no post since Oct. I know many people just read and don't post so it may not be anybody dropped off. I added a confirmed date column to the spreadsheet. Assuming you are still cruising update the confirmed date with the current date. At the end of next week we can look to see if anybody hasn't added the date. This will help with the planning, such as F.E.
