Hi all. Such great advice you guys give. Let me first say THANK YOU for all of you who take the time to advise us.

My question is whether May 13-19 would be a busy time at the parks or not?
It's before Memorial Day, but only about a week. Going in May would be easier on our schedule as it's easier for the kids to miss one of the last weeks of school. But that said, I've read the best time to go is in early October.

There are 6 of us so right now we're have tentative reservations at the All Star Sports. Just wondered if this was early enough to miss some crowds. Though I realize Disney is such a great place it's always busy. My concern is I might not be able to talk my husband into going for another 10 years so I want to make the most of this opportunity.

Thanks.

Bumping this up for you. We will not be going to NEXT year for the first time and fretting about when to do it. I was also think early/mid May as school would be almost over but hopefully easier for my then 3rd grader and kindergartener to miss school. I've heard May is a pretty good time to go but it seems a lot of people on the dis are going at that time.

Every time we have been to DW it has been in May. We go the 2nd week this year we will be there 5-5 to 5-11. the weather is awesome. Not to hot but not cold at all it is just right to swim. The parks are not bad at all I think the longest time we had to wait was maybe 15 minnutes but all the other rides we were able to just walk on.

We are going May 14-19 this year, this will be our first trip! We decided on May for a couple of reasons... a friend of ours (her daughter works at Disney) has gone in pretty much every month, she likes May the best... the weather, the lines... she says that is the time to go. Also, my husband has to work around when he can get off... well, May just happened to be the easiest. We are taking the kids out of school for a week, but since it is the end of the year and there is no testing going on, I don't think it should be to much of a bad deal...... they are in 3rd and 6th grade, both A students.

Had a ? for you. You said that you are staying in the All Star Spots. Is one of yours little (2 or under?)? Or are you planning on getting 2 rooms? I thought that All Star Music was the only one that had the Family rooms that sleep 6?? We are staying in the All Star Music because there are 6 of us...
2, 4, 9, 12 and us parents!

I have to say that ever since MYW was introduced, I am not sure anyone experiences Disney the way you used to be able to go and find it not crowded with no lines. But crowds are manageable if you use the fastpass, plan your day, and get to the parks at least 1/2 hour before they open. We went Labour day last year which they say is the least busy and it was PACKED! But we still did everything we set out to do! I am sure May is better than June!

Have been in May all three times, and absolutely loved it! The weather was hot enough for the water parks, but not too hot, and the crowds were reasonable (except for Memorial Day weekend itself.) Check the crowd calendar at www.***************** 3 or 4 weeks before your trip, and it will tell you which parks are expected to be more or less crowded on which days. You sould be fine.

Hi. Thank you for the May opinions. Drivencrazy, my kids ages are 5,6,7, and 9. We are having to get two rooms at the All Star Sports. I got a quote from Dreams Unlimited and they didn't mention the family suites at the Music resort. My guess is they are all booked (seems lots of people from the boards are going then and they started booking last Sept.) or are just more expensive than the two rooms. I think the only other option we have is a cabin at the Wilderness Resort which will sleep 6 and has a kitchen. Unfortunately, I got a quote on the disney web site and the cabin option is more than the two rooms at a budget resort. About $1100 more actually. Not worth it for us.

I am concerned about the noise at the value resorts, but upgrading to a moderate resort is $1000 more and as my husband tells me "there is no guarantee the more expensive places will be any quieter." We all get up early so plan to be at the parks when they open. I think we could all benefit from a breather in the afternoon - nap or swimming.

Seems to me a family of six has a hard time planning with Disney. Though I guess we are a little bigger than the norm.

Hope you guys have a great trip.

Staying at AKL - we've gone in Oct previously, never in May. I was concerned about Star Wars Weekends and crowds, but I don't think they announced the dates yet. But since that's only 1 park, shouldn't be an issue. I'm hoping for beautiful weather, no crowds, and lots of YOAMD wishes granted since this will be out last trip for a while!! :goodvibes

this is when we go regularly and its the best..its after spring break but before the kids are out of school, and it susually NOT scorching hot! We will be there this week too!

Shhhh... this time of year is supposed to be a secret. I agree that I like May the best.......but I'm not saying that too loudly:rotfl:
