Hey JO! I don't know what happened to our nice weather! I guess we were due for this to happen. :umbrella: Actually it is long overdue! I just wish the nice weather would have held on another week for trick-or-treat and our last soccer game this weekend.

Boy! the soccer season flew by this year...DGS has two more games...(he had one rained out game)...this week we have temps...in the high 70's/low 80's...
JC

Hi JC!

They won't announce the dates for SW weekend until closer to the dates. Are you interested for DGS????:) How is that cutie doing?

Jo

Jo...Yes the DGS is a BIG SW fan

:grouphug: I'm sooo happy for you, I knew Prince Charming was a Prince
JC

Got to go...taking care of my sister's cats...and they must be feed...:cat: :cat:
JC

Morning Shelly...

Shelly have you heard anything about the Star Wars weekends...they were in May...except this year...for the 30th anniversary they did the weekends in June...have you heard if they will go back to May?...:darth: I'm hoping the force will be with us next year....:chewy:
JC

I haven't heard anything about it yet. I guess I just thought they were always in June. That will be a nice surprise for the boys!! :darth: :darth:
You should see their Christmas lists. . . Star Wars this. . . Star Wars that. . . Oh my, and I think that stuff is so nerdy!! :ssst:

Thanks JC!!!!!!

I just have so long to wait.:sad1: That's okay, I will live through you.:)

Belle just came in saying that she wants an American Girl for Christmas. She has 5 of her sister's dolls that she never plays with, now why would she want another?

Mary Cat is pouting because she wants a Wii. I think I'll tell her she can have an "ours" and share it with her brother.;)

Both of my trips to WDW in January were the first week in Jan. The crowds were awful. This was pre-DIS days. After the last trip there, being miserable, I decided there had to be a better way. And I found it here.;)

If you can go to January after the schools go back, and either before or after MLK day (it's crowded then), I think it's supposed to be reaally dead. But you have to keep in mind that those days are usually when a lot of rides are closed. Also, the parks close earlier and, just cause you're in Florida doesn't mean it won't be cold. ;) January can get cold there. Which means no swimming.

Jo

If we do go in January it will probably be the last week of the month. I'd like to think it will be Jan. 2009, but that is only 8 months after our MAY trip, so it will probably actually be Dec. 2009 or Jan. 2010 before we get back.

Any news on the strike JO?

No. They were supposed to be in meetings last night, but I am sure that nothing came of it. I'm disgusted beyond words. As of now, if they don't come to an agreement, the kids have to go back Nov. 15th. That's a long time to wait.:sad2:

Jo

i'm sorry to hear that the strike is still on. that is so unfair to the kids.

Good morning!

Thanks for all the well wishes. We have a bunch of friends and their families affected by these fires. Malibu, Canyon Country, Irvine, Rancho Santa Margarita and Arrowhead. Fortunately, everyone is OK and safe. But their homes are in danger.

We are OK because we live in the city. The closest fire is about 10 miles away and we are about 3 miles from any canyon or mountain area.

The air stinks and it is very unsafe for for anyone who has breathing conditions. I kept my son home from school today again since he has asthma.

I heard on the news there are fire companies coming as far as Arizona and Oregon. Amazing and scary at the same time.

 Hey guys,

I wasnt getting notified.

So I see you are all busy posters.

I am soo bummed. I will be out of a job by the end of the week. They want me to change my hours and come in everyday in the afternoon and I am not going to do that with the girls. I am very upset about it. I have been at this job for 6 1/2 years. I guess I was lucky to have them be so flexible for so long. The whole office is changing and getting more strict.

Now I have to get on a strict budget. Any advice? I wasnt bringing home much a week but it helped buy groceries.

We are watching Pinocchio now and I have to give the girls there lunch. I am hoping this movie will cheer me up.

Thanks for letting me vent. :scared:

Hey Huggie. That stinks about the job.

I know, it stinks being on a budget, it seems that the only time there is extra money since I quit working is at tax return time. And we use that for WDW!! But since I quit working our tax return nearly doubles what it used to be! :woohoo:

I do a little computer work from home for a little extra cash. (PM me if you want some info on that) And then I just don't have any "extras", I don't have my own cell phone, I drive a 1999 vehicle, I don't go to the gym (not that I work out much at home anyway! :rotfl: ), I cut back on the cable, things like that. It really adds up and can help!

Just think of what your girls are gaining by having you at home with them. It makes all the sacrifices worth it! :goodvibes

Mari - Are you still going to WDW with your family in Feb? How are those plans coming? :yay:
hey no unfortunetly i'm not going anymore... i'm actually leaving on a mini vacation this Friday... i'm going to Guatemala for my Great Grandmothers 90th bday party and coming back on wed. and in Dec we're going down to VA to visit one my DH's cousins... and then with the May trip.. my bank finally gave it... it said it can't take it anymore....Plus my mom hasn't even made ressies with the time share so she's not sure that there will be room.. and they moved it to April...

That is such a bummer Kristina.... the only thing that i know of that can help u save a little is to buy in Bj's and Costco in bulk... oh yeah Shelly told me about website sharedreviews.com and you can earn a little of money..... go check it out i'm already doing it... it basically is u have to write reviews on things.... You're job is losing a great person.... and a mayer...

Oh, Huggie, I am so sorry.

Going from a two income family to a one income family is very tough...
But you can do it. Your girls will benefit from having you there so much and kudos to you for not giving up the afternoons you spend with them.

I was 8 months pregnant with Drew when we decided I wouldn't work anymore. We went from having lots to having very little for quite some time. There were times that we had no money for groceries and put everything on the cc. But we survived, and you will too.

Shelly is right. Cut back on as much as you can. Go to the grocery store once a week, not 4 or 5 times. Plan your meals for one week out, or if you can do it, two weeks out. Make a lot of one thing, say chili, or spaghetti or soup. Then eat it again later in the week. I still do this. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I cook. Thursday is always leftover night in our house.

Eat out only once a week. That includes ordering pizza out. If you cook at home, you usually can get 2 meals out of it instead of one. Pay cash for your groceries. However much you budget, that's it. When the money for that is gone, it's gone.

Rent movies, don't go out to the movies. Get movies from the library (they're free!).

Use half of the laundry detergent that's called for. For a large load, only use 1/2 of the measuring cup. Run the dryer at night. Don't let the dishwasher run on the "dry" cycle. Wash clothes in cold water.

Put your thermostat up (or down!) a couple of degrees. Don't leave the tv, computer, or lights running in the house.

Go to basic cable services. Drop to the lowest minutes on your cell phone. Drop any unnecessary items on your home phone bill.

Only go out to run errands once a week, and do it on the way to the grocery store. Saves gas.

Pack lunches for your DH. No coffee runs. No donut runs. Commit to not buying any clothes for yourself for three months. When you think you can't stand your hair for another day, and want to spend $200 (that's what I spend) on a cut/color, pull it up into a ponytail! It can last another month.:)

No manicures, or pedicures. Give yourself one, save $50.

Tell the kids to choose what they want for Christmas. You write it down, and tell them that Santa will pick three things from their lists. That's it. After all, Jesus only got three gifts from the wise guys!:goodvibes

Instead of buying precooked items (frozen waffles, etc.) get some bisquick and make them yourself. They freeze wonderfully. Buy a ham. You can get a LOT of meals from that one purchase.

Wash your own cars. Mow your own grass. Clean your own house. Pay bills online instead of sending them through the mail.

Okay, enough for now. I'm getting obnoxious.:goodvibes

You can do this, Huggie. prayers to you.

Jo

Good to know you are safe, Seacrest!:grouphug:

All of this is just terrible. I am so sorry.

I was an asthma/allergy nurse; I know how awful those attacks are. Keep your son close by you. Hope he is feeling all right.

Jo

sheesh... i had to write some of these money savers down to save money....... good advice...
