Glad you all liked it - I like to kid around a lot if you haven't noticed. Makes life a little bit more better when things get a bit bumpy - like this:

We got notice last week that my wife's school had to cut back on enrollment because the city came in and told the school board that their facility was not up to current occupancy code standards. The school board tried their best repairing things and installing more smoke and fire alarm systems. In the end, the school was told that they could no longer have a preschool - 6th grade, only preschool - 1st grade.

Sadly, about 100 kids and their parents have to find a new school. My wife and 10 other teachers and aides have been let go. And it is less than 5 weeks before the new school year starts here in CA. To say the least, a lot of people are upset, the school board kept this information quiet until last week. They had been dealing with the issue for over 3 months.

So my wife is looking for a new place to teach, sending out lots of resumes and setting up interview appointments. Cutting it close to the new school year. Fun and games huh?

Seacrest - My prayers are with you and your family. Keep us posted on the job search. Love that box pic you posted.

Here is another driving tip for everyone - you can also knock your mirror off at Sonic. It is really easy to do. :scared1:

My kids are at my in-laws for the weekend and I am trying to catch up around the house. Yikes, things have gotten out of control here.

For those of you who buy school uniforms - I buy my kids shirts at Academy Sports - $5.99. I bought them there last year and they held up really well. I have also bought their shorts and pants. They hold up well also. My son is in Middle School and informed me the pants at Academy are not as cool as the ones from the Gap and Old Navy. So he is getting shorts from there. I thought a uniform was uniform. Who knew kids are brand crazy for khaki and navy shorts? :confused3 I did get dd a couple of cute skorts at Kohls.

I am looking for an illusive pink uniform polo for my DS. Yes, that's right. My SON. Haven't found it yet, but he says it is the cool color to wear this year.

Here is a bit of Arkansas news for you guys. The Duggers just had their 17th child this week. Here is link to an article:

Right the article is on the Yahoo Home page. Amazing!

Have a great weekend!

I just read this on Mousesavers - FYI - Walt Disney World ticket prices will be going up on August 8. If you were planning to buy tickets, now is the time! (WDW tickets can be purchased in advance, because unused tickets are valid forever.) Check out Undercover Tourist, which is authorized by Disney to sell discounted tickets that are new and genuine. Prices include tax and FREE shipping to the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and Netherlands!

Cool story from Mouse Planet -

Bell Services hero

This is one of the kind of stories that never seems to get enough recognition. Disney College Program cast member Paul Sherrer, a former U.S. soldier, was working in Bell Services at the Port Orleans Riverside resort when he performed another heroic act.
Sherrer was returning to the resort's main building after delivering some luggage when he heard some commotion at the resort's marina. He hopped onto his Pargo (luggage) golf cart and raced to the marina to find an upset young girl who said that her 4-year-old brother had slipped and fallen into the river.
"I jumped off the Pargo at full speed [into the water] and felt around on the bottom," said Sherrer. "I found him and pulled him up to safety."
Sherrer's actions were celebrated by Disney on July 10. Vice President of Resort Operations and Transportation Kevin Myers presented Paul with a letter from Meg Crofton, president of the Walt Disney World Resort, commending him for his bravery.
Kudos to Sherrer for his quick thinking, quicker action and bravery in rescuing the boy. Here's to the cast members that truly give their all for guest safety!

Thank you for the encouragement NC.

As for those Duggers...are they out to set a record? I saw their story on TV a few months back and it was quite interesting. Definitely, not in competition with him. :lmao:

Seacrest - I'm sending pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: to help your wife on the search. Everything will work out.

The Duggers wow.... 17 kids. i can't imagine a second one around the house let alone 16 more.... more power to them....

does anyone know when the disney site will be OK to book for 08????

Seacrest,
thanks for the Laugh about the boxes. Yes, they are still empty, and no, I don't have any plans to fill them...yet. :) My Mom arrives next weekend to kick my butt into gear and help out. Go Mom!!!:cheer2:

I really do hope things work out for your wife with a new job. That is so tough, so close to the new school year. I will be praying for you both. ;)

As far as the Duggar's go, they used to live in the town next to ours. As a matter of fact, my old OB/GYN there was the Dr. that delivered all of her babies. Whenever I used to call to get an appointment, and if they said she was booked, I would joke and say "What, are the Duggars due again?":rotfl:
Very weird.

I enrolled the youngest two into their new Elementary School yesterday. Guess what? THEY DON'T HAVE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE SCHOOL.

What the heck????????:confused3

Shelly, It's SV schools and we are moving on the 23-26th. Sounds like you got some awesome deals at that outlet! Can't wait to meet up to do some serious shopping damage!;)

Hope ya'll all have a wonderful day!

Jo

Hey everyone. I went in May 2007, and well my family is just deciding whether or not to go next year. The original answer was no, but than certain people changed their minds. My dad told my mom she can go ahead to book a room, and we can cancel if we dont think its right to go. I dont want that to happen because than all my excitement will get taken away. Hmm, I know my family has good reasons not to go (house renovations) but we cant stay away.

Jo

NO AC??? That is lame and bogus!

That is a funny story about your MD. Maybe they get a great discount from that Doc for all the business they give her.

Speaking about having a lot of kids - my wife taught these kids http://www.shierquints.com/ a couple of years ago. She had all five of them in her class :scared1:

Thank you for praying for our situation - my wife might have some interviews this week and hopefully get a couple of offers.

I am not stressing out because it is in the His hands and we are going to go to Disneyland tomorrow! :cool1: :cool1:

Just said a prayer for you and your wife. It absolutely is in God's hands.

Once when I was going through a very troubling time in my life, my Aunt told me to not be afraid, and she said that no one but God knew whether the situation would ultimately turn out to be a blessing or a curse. It ended up that my situation was, indeed, a huge blessing, and my life was forever changed because of it.

Now, have fun at Disneyland. Walk through into Fantasyland and be carefree for as long as you are there.:grouphug:

Oh, and please, eat a Dole Whip for me. I am realy wanting one.;)

None of the schools have AC around here. The kids just have to suffer through the warm weather the first few weeks & the last few weeks of school! I suppose because it's so dang cold around here the rest of the year!!

Yes JO - You must come see this Outlet Mall!! I can't believe you haven't been here yet! Being the proffessional shopper you are and all ! :rotfl:

Seacrest- Sending you some new job vibes. That stinks about her job. Does she have a union?

Jo-Pack Pack Pack    Sorry about your car.

I have been so busy around here. I cant believe how hot it has been. YUCK:confused:

Gotta run TTYL

I went to a school that didn't have A/C throughout until my sophomore year....There was one year we had 1/2 days for the first month because it was 95-105 before the heat index and it would get unbearably hot throughout most of the building.

:cheer2:
Yay!!!! I got the dancing, packing cow!!!!! Thanks, Sulley!!!!!!:lmao:

Thanks Huggie!

Today I begin packing upstairs. Oh, my. Have to call the painters for DD bedroom in the new house. It's painted a beautiful shade of lavender, but she really thinks she's too old for that color. (She's 12.)

We are going to take down the maroon shutters and replace them with black, and paint the front door black to match.

(I love, love, love the color black. It's my favoritest.):)

Shelly, it's muggy and steamy here today!

Oh, BTW, everyone, before you go swimming in pools, you might want to scan them before diving in. We had a snake bathing in ours on Saturday. I almost, you got it, threw up.

Seacrest ~ Good luck to your wife on her interviews! That's great that she has some so soon!! pixiedust:

Hey Sulley & Huggie ~ Good to hear from you both!

Mari ~ Keep working on your family!! You can do it! :thumbsup2

JO ~ It is SO humid here! As soon as I step outside I feel wet. YUCK! :crazy2:

BTW ~ 2008 rates are out on the Disney website!

hello my friends- i have missed you!!!!
i have just returned home from my 5 week cross canada tour. which my sister insists that i name - to hell and back in a broken van with two seniors and two preschoolers. haha :rotfl:
yes the van did break down, but it was fixed, and yes there were moments that i felt like my parents were treating me like a child and not the adult that i am, but all in all it was a wonderful and educational adventure for my children, and i'm glad they could experience it with their grandparents. they saw the rockies, went to jasper, saw buffalo, prairie dogs, and antelope, we visited the dinosaur museums and parks in alberta, and spent some time in my home town of thunder bay, ontario...and finally when we got home on friday around midnight...i was so happy to be back i basically collapsed. We woke up on saturday morning to a dreadful site and smell, and realised that the dog has been skunked!!!! yep...so my wonderful return home on our august holiday long weekend turned into finding ways to keep the dog from being so smelly, and out of the house. on the bright side though...we went to my mother in laws house for dinner tonight..and she asked, when are you booking our next trip to disney, casue i can't wait to go back!

shelly- thanks for your niagara report- it was great!

Shelly... believe me I am working on the family....

Lakehead... I'm glad you had a good vacation. I have only been to Canada 3 times and it was to visit my aunt that lives in toronto. (i think). Next time your dog gets skunked bath him with tomoto sauce.... my mother did that to her dog and my brother and it didn't completely take the smell off but it took it off dramatically. They were ok to remain in the house....

I MISS DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!

Lake - sounds like you had a good time on your roadtrip (with the exception of the car breaking down)....sorry to hear about the skunk....try using a mix of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, it makes a bit of a paste that you rub on, then use shampoo to wash....but it works....we had two dogs get skunked and that got it out....
