I have never done the fridge swap before but I could let you know how it is after Dec

the disboard decided to do restrictions on the sigs so you have to make your to their specifications.... basically you have to scrunch everything...

I'm not Jo, but I've heard of it. I think I read an article about it in the newspaper when I was living in WV and one of the girls in my dorm was from up there and told me how neat it was at Christmastime (I'm a holiday freak! I love Christmas, in fact, it's almost time to bust out the Christmas music :) )

Hey Sulley! I forgot you were familiar with the area. I am pretty excited, I sure hope it is as nice as they say it is!
I love Christmas time too, all the decorations and music! :santa: I am actually over half done with my shopping already!

It took me 6 tries to make mine all fit! And I'm not happy with how it looks.

I took down the size of my writing one. And then squeezed as much as I could onto each line. And then had to eliminate any of the characters or smilies that moved, because apparently jumping Mickey jumped the span of 2 lines! So now DS 6 is a pirate!

Well in my mothers house what we do we also go out to look at the houses. Around here there is one part of a neighborhood that i think the whole block competes to see which one of their houses is the nicest..... but they really go out and spend MONEY.... this year i'll take pics and post them.... the same block does this also for Halloween....

Hate to post and run...today's is my DDIL's birthday...and I'm taking her shopping... See you all tomorrow...:cool1:

Our holiday tradition is to not be home.:rotfl: Since we moved out of SC 7 years ago we haven't had a Christmas at our house. We always fly home to SC. Christmas Eve is an afternoon party at my Auntie's with Mom's side of the family in the afternoon.

6 pm Christmas Eve service at church to hear DH's Mother perform the most beautiful, moving rendition of "Oh holy Night " that you have ever heard. Gives you chills and she always gets a 2000 person plus standing ovation. (She studied under an Italian Opera singer for 16 years).

Then it's off to the InLaws house for a late night supper. Then we all open presents, fall into bed around 2am, only to be awakened by the shrieks and thrills of "Santa Clause has been here!" MIL makes Christmas morning coffee, hands me a chocolate spoon and she and I sit in our new bathrobes (matching, usually!) watching the mayhem, trying to wake up.

At that point, I used to go to my Nana's house, but she died two years ago. So now, I help MIL cook and we just enjoy being together. Christmas china and silverware come out, and we eat til we think we are going to burst.

Ahhhhh, I can't wait. We were actually thinking of staying home this year. After just reading my post, I'm definitely going back home. I must be crazy. One day all of those people won't be there and then it will be time for new traditions. Until then, SC it is!

Jo

Good Morning Mayers....

I see it was a very slow night last night. I hope everyone had a great night with their loved ones. i'll check in later....

Jo i love your tradition.... it is very cute....

YIKES! Jo 12 movies!!! Looks like you all will be busy this weekend :)

I'm exhausted from a rough night with the baby, my husband and I got ZERO sleep :sad2:

Thank goodness this is our last little peanut, I can't do this AGAIN :)

I can't stand the holidays! hahaah! it's sad because I love seeing my kids and introducing them to Christmas and fun and all that, but it's too stressful on us.

My moms side of the family and his dads side celebrate Christmas Eve, so we hit up his dads side for a little bit since Traditionally the party at moms does not begin until 10pm, so after that we head over for late night at my moms side, wherever they are. (of course both parties are always held waaay too far from eachother which is waaay too far for us as it is.) Then we usually get home at about 2am and sleep. Rush through Santa presents :( get to church, run to my Dads families side for presents and dinner and then off to his moms side for dessert and presents and make an attempt to leave early to get home at a decent hour for the kids to stay up just a little bit to play. It's ridiculous and all we want to do is stay home.

Sooo this year we've put our foot down and we're staying home to start our own traditions! We have a newborn and we don't want everyone and anyone breathing and touching on him all day and then the in and out of the car with the snow and the cold would just be awful on that tiny little body.

Let's see what the families say though!!

Have a good one!

Mornin MAYers!

Thanks Mari! Our tradition is hectic, but it is fun. The kids look forward to it.

DMM, I know how you feel with three children. When we moved away 7 years ago, everyone just expected us to come home to SC. So our children's frequent flyer miles were huge. What drove me crazy is that I had to go back and forth between two families, since they only live 30 minutes apart. So, you get to one house, unpack, set up pack-n-play, bottles, car seat, bouncy seat, etc for the newborn, unpack the older ones clothes, toys, etc. and then in 5 days, you're packing it all back up to shift to another house to unpack and do it all again. Then you have the Christmas presents to contend with.

We have always shipped our presents (santa) to Sc and then had to either pack them up and ship them back home or pack them into luggage. One year, as I stood there hauling 12(!!!!) duffle bags loaded with toys off of the conveyer belt at the airport, I had a huge meltdown.:lmao: I went straight home and called and told everyone "no more presents. at the most, a gift card to a toy store." So now, we are all happy.

A side note, the Disney Store manager and I got to be great friends!;) I'd walk in with the kids and he'd follow behind me as I pointed to things. He'd take them to the register, I'd hand him my cc and he'd pack it all up and ship it to my Mom's address. He had it written down in this rolodex, that's how often I did it. The kids never knew.:rotfl: And I never had any packages to contend with.:dance3:

Okay, here is a thread that is going on about writing a letter to a soldier in Iraq for Thanksgiving. If you think you can, please take a minute and write them a note and send it.

Hope you are all doing good.
