MAY 12th-19th!! THESE ARE THE MAYS OF OUR LIVES! III

Okay, so here we are with our issues:

Called SW about my broken luggage Tuesday, they didn't call back. So I called again yesterday and left a "firmer" message. They called back in about 5 minutes. . . The lady was nice but told me that the claim had to made within 4 hours. I figured as much. But explained to her that we boarded the plane around 4:00 for our 4:20 flight, it never left MCO until 4:45, landed in Pitt around 6:45 but they didn't let us unload until about 7:10. So we had been on that plane for over 3 hours for a 2 hour flight. Then we waited on our luggage forever and the kids were tired and cranky and we just wanted to get home. I told her that we had never experienced all the delays or broken luggage with any other airline and that this was the first time we flew with them and we weren't very happy with the whole experience. She gave me the # for the SW baggage headquarters in Dallas and told me that I'd have to turn it over to them but that she was going to talk to her supervisor and she would call me back if they could make any exceptions. Well, I was never expecting to hear from her again, but she did call me back in about 20 minutes and told me that her supervisor told her to go ahead and make a claim. Still not sure if anything will come of it. I'm supposed to hear from headquarters today, but nothing yet. . . .

DH bought me a big snowglobe and the Monorail set for our anniversary. We shipped the monorail home that Monday - May 12. The guy told me it would be here in 7-10 days. No monorail yet and it's been 10 days. . . So I call and the lady tells me that they just got it to UPS yesterday and I should have it in about a week from now. :confused3

DS9 bought a Mickey's Personal Disney Assistant for $15 on our last day. Brought it home and opened it up and it worked for like an hour and quit. Only the on/off button works, none of the other buttons now. . . So I call and explain this. The lady was very nice (actually it was the same lady that I talked to about my monorail), she told me to just fax a copy of the receipt and she will send out a new one and we will have it in about 10-15 days!

So that's where we are with all that! :rotfl:

Keep letting us know what happens with all things.

I am glad they are trying to make it right at SW. Most of the time on something like this i just get, "Tough luck lady." Glad that it is going better than it usually goes for me!

Day 3 - Monday May 12 -

Today was a sleep in day again. We got up around 8 and just hung out in the room. While DH was showering I walked down to Panchitos Gift and Sundries (the gift shop at CSR) and bought my Monorail and shipped it home. We got to Epcot around 11:30 and went to Soarin and got our fastpasses. The weather was much more pleasant than the previous 2 days. About 85 I think and A LOT less humid. Then it was off to Electric Umbrella for lunch. There was a long line already. It didn't take to awful long though! We got our food and went upstairs where it was less crowded and got a seat by the window. DH and I had grilled chicken sandwiches. The kids had chicken nuggets. All pretty good. :goodvibes

After lunch we went to the character connection and got in the huge line. :sad2: The CM told us it was about a 45 minute wait. We waited 30 minutes and had barely moved. We decided we weren't waisting anymore time here and left. Went and rode Soarin and Living with the Land. We all agree that Soarin is truly the best ride ever!! :woohoo: LOVE it! :lovestruc DH really enjoys Living with the Land and DS9 gets to write down a few facts from it for his school trip report. After that a quick spin on Nemo and then it's off to TT. The wait is very long so we grab some fastpasses and go over to M:S. I am still very leery about this but I am trusting my good friend Sulley that the green version is pretty tame!! I didn't call her to tell her that we were there, I didn't think I should bother her at work since we already met the day before. But we were hoping to see her inside. No such luck though. Wait was only about 10 minutes. We get up to the end and are about to load into the ride and DS6 decides to split!! :lmao: I think DH is relieved and gladly takes him out! So DS9 and I have the whole thing to ourselves. I panic a bit when the doors close and am feeling a little claustrophobic, but I hide it from DS. He absolutely loved it!! I didn't think it was bad, didn't love it either. Kind of like TOT, I could take it or leave it.

100_3595.jpg

100_3596.jpg

From there we head to Mexico and ride the Grand Fiesta Tour, fun as always! Stop on the way out to look at all the wood carvings, DS9 is very impressed by them! We see a line for Mexico Donald and it's not too long so we get in! Then off to Norway. Our first time on Maelstrom. Loved it!

Now it is time for our TT fastpasses so we head back there and take an awesome ride!! :cool1: Very cool! After that it is now getting close to time for the kids to go to the Sandcastle Kids Club at the Beach Club. So we make the trek clear to the back of Epcot and go out exit. We take the boat over to the closest dock to the Beach Club. Still a long walk to the Beach Club. This takes us much longer than expected. We make it to the club just on time at 5:15. The kids club is much smaller and quieter than I expected. I thought it would be big and loud, but it was very low key. We got the kids all checked in and we got our beeper and were on our way back top Epcot. We asked if it was faster to just walk back to Epcot and it was! Got to LeCellier around 5:45 for our 6:00 ADR. We were seated in about 10 minutes. We both got steak and potatoes and it was very good. DH got the mouse for dessert and I got the smores. All very good. After dinner we walked over to France and I got a Grey Goose Slushy! Very good, but I was too full from dinner to drink very much of it. Then we just sat and rested a bit by the water. We walked back to the Beach Club around 7:45 and picked up the kids. They absolutely LOVED the kids club. We will definitely do that again!!

Then we walk back to Epcot to finally see Illumination for the first time. We see open seats by the boat dock in Future World. We sit there and wait it out for 45 minutes. Illuminations was great, but we didn't have the best view. The awning at the boat dock blocked some of it for us. Bummer. Still very good though.

Then it was back to CSR to bed. We had a 7:30am ADR to get to at Ohana the next morning!!

My kids love Electric Umbrella. I love their bathroom. My DH loves that you can refill your drink there!

That is so cool that you guys let the kids go to the kids club. Sounds like it was a great time for adults and children alike!

Yes, it is something that we said we'd never do the first time we heard about it. But being that we don't vacation without the kids and certainly would never go to WDW without the kids, we thought about it and thought about it and came to the conclusion that it was the only way we'd ever have a quiet leisurely meal alone on vacation and we were sure that the kids would love to be able to play video games for a few hours way better than another boring meal with us!! And you know the funny thing is is that I wasn't even nervous or uneasy while they were there. That's strange considering that I rarely ever do anything without my kids (I'm lucky if I get to go to the bathroom alone!! )! We were very comfortable with the whole thing. The kids are looking forward to going again someday!! Too bad it's $22 an hour!

That is awesome that you felt so comfortable doing that. Maybe you guys can do that again on your next trip!

I did see something that i really liked after the fact and by then i sat down and thought about it. It was this really nice mickey figurine the ones that cost like 300 well i figured i'll wait until my DD is out of the breaking stage.

Good idea Mari! :rotfl:

We have been looking for a picture for our wall above the entertainment center in the living room. We walked into a store on Main Street and there it was - I said to DH - Honey, there it is!!! There was a woman guarding it. Went up and she said $1800! :scared1:  I don't even remember if that included the frame. :sad2: Oh my. Maybe someday!

Good morning Mari. As expected, the theater was full, in fact they were running three theaters with shows at 12:01, 12:05 and 12:10. My wife and saw a few kids she taught Kindergarten at the show (they are 19 & 20 now! - we are old people .) The movie is exactly 2 hours long and it definitely delivers the Indy we are love and adore. Lots of good action, a few twists here and there, amazing effects, and my favorite...bugs! My favorite scene? There are quite a few, but the one that stands out is near the beginning of the film and it involves a refrigerator - that is all I will say, I won't ruin it for you.

Go see it! It is a fun flick!

Seacrest

I LOVE Indy, and want to see it this weekend...but....BUGS??? :scared1:  :scared1: I HATE BUGS!!! I hope it's not the main part of the movie, or I will look like Mari's DD on the Snow White ride, hands over my eyes the whole time!

:( no i didn't get to ride it. My Dd was being a little drama queen and didn't let either my DH or myself get on any rides. Once she saw the line she would wail like someone was trying to kill her. I'll try it next time. I PROMISE...... and i really wanted to go on it.

Aw...I'm sorry you missed it...it's my favorite ride at DL, and it was just as good at Epcot. Well...something to look forward to for your next trip :goodvibes Maelstrom was closed last May, and we didn't get to explore Mexico at all, so we missed that ride too. I'm looking forward to both of those this September! :)

Finally back home - very tired, my voice is thrashed, hurts, and I think I am getting a cold. Glad that is over. Foot is better today. One good thing.

Shelly: Wonderful TR. Glad you and your husband had a nice time alone at Disney for a couple of hours. Sorry that you didn't get that painting that you saw. Maybe next time!

Mari: That is such a bummer that you didn't get to ride Soarin'! I was hoping you could ride it this time.

NC: I hope you get to see IJ4 real soon! It rocks!

KB: Don't like bugs...how about monkeys? LOL!! Go see the movie, you will like it.

Jo: How are you feeling today? Is your jaw doing better?

Sea

Mornin everyone!

Mark jsut got back around midnight from Cali. He's exhausted.

Sea- I hope your foot is better and you take it easy for a bit this weekend. It's a good thing I wasn't going to be there for this weekend, LOL. That Indy movie sounds so good! Bugs don't bother me- I'm scared of snakes. Belle has an extreme fear of all things crawly so she screams often. Drew is known as her "Bug Slayer" and comes running when she howls. It's cute. I hope you have a relaxing weekend!!
Thanks for asking about my jaw. It's better- very sore. The dr took the stitches out yesterday, so I have steri strips on my chin. Did I tell y'all that the ER doc looked like a 400 pound Mr Miyagi that spoke broken English??? I'll save that story for another day. hahahahaha

Shelly- that pic you saw- oh my. WE saw one too of The Black Pearl that was $1000 and I think Mark would have bought it if I'd of said okay. :rotfl: It didn't really look like the Black Pearl- more like a ship coming into a town (Tortuga, I'd imagine) at night witht the moon shining on it. It was a numbered one, so I know it was worth it. I just couldn't DO it, LOL.
your last TR installment ws wonderful!! I wish I'd of had a new camera that i could've taken pics. The ones I took look dark. My computer isn't allowing me to download them or something. I wonder if it's the disk?? I've heard of them being corrupted before. Grrrrrrr. Glad to know about the kids club. I would've been nervous a bit, but I've always heard positive things bout them. I think that Disney must have stricter background checks on workers in close contact like that with kids.
Heard from SW? Maybe they'll give you a free tix to fly somewhere????

NC- That made me laugh when you said you like Electric Umbrella's Bathroom!!!!!!!!!!   I know we need to do a report on the finest bathrooms in all of WDW!

Huggie- how's the party coming??

Katiebell- I keep forgetting to tell you all of the reasons we love POFQ. I'll post them all when I have time. I think you and your Husband will like it. I really don't ever want to stay anywhere else. POR - I know RF had a not so wonderful experince over there- but it is so huge. I don't like a spread out , massive resort, so I think that's why I love POFQ. Will you be renting a car???

Mari- do you get Monday off? Your TR is coming along wonderfully! Your Princess is so cute. I love the pic of her sticking her tongue out like Tic-Toc the Croc.

RF- how's married life???

I have to go- I'll check back later, but Mark is off tday and Monday.

Have a great weekend, If I don't talk to you all before then!

:snooty:

Jo

Well, we survived the 13th birthday yesterday!

I'm off this morning to the awards ceremony at ds's school!

So I was looking over the DDP. It looks like our bills totaled: $561 in TS, $340 in CS, and $84 Snacks. For a grand total of $985. I believe we paid something like $675 for it for 7 days. So looking at it that way we saved $310. But, had we not had it we wouldn't have made a TS everyday and we certainly never would have spent $84 in snacks!! On Friday we had 21 snack credits left so we had to use them up and we just went and got a bunch of stuff at the candy store to bring home.

I just can't decide if we should do it again or not. It's nice to be able to try all the different restaurants and have nice meals. But at the same time all those TS meals really slow us down and take away from our park time. We always feel rushed to make the ADR's. . . . So I just don't know!!!!! :confused3 Decisions. . . Decisions. . . .

Oh - And NO word from SW on the luggage. . . .

Morning all.... really busy at work for some odd reason. So i might not be able to get to another episode of TR until later today.... plus it feels as if nobody is reading it :( .... as long as my Mayer friends enjoy it i don't care.... well off to a meeting.... talk to you guys later...

Shelly i was also reviewing the DDP we had the deluxe... but i think next time i would do the regular one.... DX is too much for me..... i felt as if i was always eating.... but i do like that i can do atleast 1 TS a day. Last year i mainly booked those for dinner.... but we'll see what happens next time i go to WDW....

That is really good to know Shelly. I just know that the amount of food you can order is more than we would order normally. Also, having to pay for 4 adults on the dining plan, when my dd wants to order off the kids menu at TS, it just doesn't seem to make sense.

Do you think if your kids were charged as adults that you would get the dp?

No, I definitely will not get it when the kids (at age 10) are considered adults. That's ridiculous. $38 a day for a kid that can't even finish a kids meal! :sad2: They really should have a junior price for that age group or something.

I'm thinking that if we went for 7 days we would be just fine with about 3 TS meals. 7 is too many. Too much rushing around. Too much food. Yeah, I think we might ditch the DDP next trip. . .

Here's a pic of Mari and I at Chef Mickey's. I know I haven't gotten that far in my TR yet, but I came across it and remembered that I was supposed to get it to Mari a few days ago!

Jo

Thanks JO! I wish you had pics to go along with your story!! All my pictures came out dark this time for some reason. Well my camera is about shot too. That's why it's been taking me so long to get them all ready, I am having to go through and edit just about every single one of them to lighten them. Oh well, they are going to look good eventually. DS9's disposable camera pictures should be ready at WalMart today. Those are always a surprise when we get them back. Usually pictures of birds, toys, the ground, the sky, etc. . . :rotfl:

Hmmm.... Jr. pricing. What a great idea!

We normally do not order an app and a dessert at TS. We do not get a dessert at counter service either. (Those do come with the DDP right?) So that seems like way to much food for us. DS get a dessert at 50's PT and we did get a couple of desserts at Le Cellier. Plus paying for me dd (who likes to order a kids meal at TS to be on the adult plan :sad2: . Just doesn't make sense to us.

You do have to rush around, then you have to wait for your table, then sometimes service is slow. And we usually like to be in and out, especially my kids.

Oh well, I just we are just not the DDP sort of peeps.
