MAY 12th-19th!! THESE ARE THE MAYS OF OUR LIVES! III

Well, the kids just left for school about 30 minutes ago. :sad2: I am so sad that DS6 is gone all day this year. I loved half-day kindergarten last year when he was home at 11:00.

Okay, I'm going to go cry now!

Aw... It'll be ok...and you can start having some "me" time during the day, and he'll tell you all about his day at school every night at dinner :goodvibes

hey kb! we actually just used the long term parking when we went to MA this weekend for bob's sisters wedding. our car was fine - we were parked 4 days and we only paid $27.... ok! that's just my .02 :goodvibes

Well...we arrive at the airport Thurs 9/18 (leaving after midnight 9/19), and fly back in 9/26. So looks like it would be $81 to leave the car there, or $86 to take the airport shuttle van ($43 for the two of us, both ways) -- unless we can wheedle someone for a ride. DS22 will be out of town so he can't take us...he might pick us up, but he and DH are on the outs right now, so don't know if that will work. He will check on the cats for us while we are gone, though, so nice to know they will be taken care of... I'm thinking the shuttle, at least on the way, will be the best bet, and I'll try cajoling him to pick us up when we come home (ask him as a special birthday favor for me LOL)

I just read this.

I can't believe no one gave me any grief over this.

I saw it, almost teased ya, but we all knew what you meant -- maybe you wrote "Memorial Day" because you are such a Mayer

KB - figure out which which would be easier for your family after a vacation... So what are your guys plans for when you are over there.

ummm...hopefully not blowing away in a hurricane? :rotfl2: I tell ya, the weather has me biting my nails. I dunno if we will plan another September trip...maybe try February in a couple of years...

SO....weather permitting :scared:, our plans are:
Fri 9/19:
Arrive, check in to POFQ, Epcot WS (we missed a lot of it last year, so we have to see Mexico, China, more of Norway, Germany, and Italy, the American Pavillion, dinner ADR at Chefs de France. Evening probably back at our resort to relax, maybe a carriage ride, or go swimming if it is hot.
Sat 9/20:
Epcot FW, then working around WS the other direction, starting w/Canada. Lunch ADR at Le Cellier. Not sure about the evening, might head to DTD to go to the Adventurer's Club since it will be closing permanently in a few days :sad1:
Sun 9/21:
Typhoon Lagoon for a few hours (that's all the sun I can take!), then MK for the day. Dinner ADR at The Wave, then back to MK for Wishes and EMH until we are too tired!
Mon 9/22:
Breakfast ADR at Boma 8:00 am, the DHS for the day. Will try Toy Story ride first thing, heard they run out of FP's very early. Dinner ADR at PT50's. Last year we saw B&B and Little Mermaid (probably will again, they were cute), but missed the Indy show and the stunt show -- are those worth seeing?
Tues 9/23:
morning...not sure yet. We could go to DTD, or hang out at the pool, or head to Epcot FW. Dinner ADR for Rose & Crown, crossing my fingers for lagoon side seats for Illuminations...
Wed 9/24:
My birthday! :yay: AK day, Everest FIRST THING (and try to snag a FP for later!). Lunch ADR at Tusker House. We missed Kali River Rapids and the Nemo show last time, so want to do both of those. Would like to see Lion King again, too. Dinner ADR at Raglan Road, then over to the AC late.
Thurs 9/25:
MK day. Breakfast ADR at CP, ADR for afternoon tea at the GF, Spectromagic tonight, and Wishes :wizard:
Fri 9/26:
check out early, leave our luggage for ME to the airport in the afternoon. Try to be at Epcot at opening, FW until WS opens and it's the first day of the Food & Wine festival! We'll try to use up any snack credits we have left at the booths, then head back to POFQ about 2 or 3 to catch the ME back to the airport.

*whew* :faint: So, what do you think?

Hmm. . . I wonder where she is ? ? ? I have a number for her, but I'm pretty sure it was her home number from when she lived here, not a cell. . . Very strange that we haven't heard from her.

It seems like they were going on vacation as well as moving. I am sure school has started there. But where oh where could see be? :confused3

Hi Everyone!

Busy weekend here. Getting ready for my parents 50th anniversary party this upcoming Saturday. The relatives are coming in from all over the place this week - I have been really busy putting together photos, posters, slide show and video stuff.

Did have some time yesterday on LABOR DAY (that's for NC) to go down to DL for a few hours to see some friends and then we headed over to the Disney Outlet store to see what they had there.

The outlet is run by AMS, the same company that handles the rest of the stores nationwide. This store is a permanent store. It was mostly clothes, hats, and t-shirts. Some toys and DL merchandise like 50th anniversary mouse ear hats, for cheap as $3.00 each, some were buy one get one or two for free. They had childrens costumes, Alice, Belle, Tink, Sleeping Beauty, Buzz, Pirates, etc. Some of the merchandise is still available in the park stores. The discounts were pretty good. The do mark all the tags - some people try to take them back to DL to get refunds at full price - but all the stuff is first quality no irregulars. I will post some pictures later on. If anyone is looking for anything, let me know and I will pick it up for you.

Sea

Wow Sea you do have a busy time ahead of you.
You are the master of slide shows, so I know it will be really special.

Thanks for making fun of my Memorial Day comment. Now I feel loved!

:rotfl:

I thought I would post this pic of me picking my dd up from school today:

:boat:

Gustav is here and will be here most of the week. It is really raining.

I saw it, almost teased ya, but we all knew what you meant -- maybe you wrote "Memorial Day" because you are such a Mayer

KB you crack me up!

Plans look great Katie!! I bet you are getting so excited! :yay:

I would recommend seeing the Indiana Jones stunt show, as well as Lights, Motors, Action!! Both are very good!

Well, DS6 did not like 1st grade. He said it was too long and he missed me. Poor little guy. I knew it would be hard for him. He and I are rarely apart. Hopefully he will adjust after a few days.

KB - Here are some helpful hints! I hope they help!

ummm...hopefully not blowing away in a hurricane? I tell ya, the weather has me biting my nails. I dunno if we will plan another September trip...maybe try February in a couple of years...

SO....weather permitting , our plans are:

Remember WS opens at 11:00. You can walk around outside past Mexico all the way to Norway, at least when we were there last. Norway is open for the Princess breakfast. We actually walked over there and waited briefly for the Malstrom to open and rode it right at 11:00.

Don't miss the cute boat ride in Mexico. I forget the new name for it. We love it. We call it the Mexican It's a Small World.

There are acapella singers in the American Pavillion:

Voices of Liberty
Inspired a cappella renditions of the best loved Americana music.
Daily at 12:30, 1:15, 2:00, 2:45, 3:30, 4:15 & 5:00pm
Length of show: 15 minutes

They are awesome. We like to hear them, and sometimes skip the "American Adventure" because my kids think it is boring.

I have heard the candy lady in Japan is not to be missed, however I have yet to see her.

Miyuki
Japanese candy artistry from Asakusa, Tokyo.
Sunday-Thursday at 12:55, 2:15, 4:00, 5:05, 6:15 & 6:55pm
Length of show: 20 minutes

Check you times guide for the park as these hours may change.

Sat 9/20:
Epcot FW, then working around WS the other direction, starting w/Canada. Lunch ADR at Le Cellier. Not sure about the evening, might head to DTD to go to the Adventurer's Club since it will be closing permanently in a few days

Don't forget to say Hi to Jessie (Sulley) when you go by Mission Space if she is working.

I am green with envy that you are eating at Le Cellier and I am not. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

See Turtle Talk with Crush. I am amazed by this.

Sun 9/21:
Typhoon Lagoon for a few hours (that's all the sun I can take!), then MK for the day. Dinner ADR at The Wave, then back to MK for Wishes and EMH until we are too tired!

I love wishes!

I love Indy. So if you liked the movies, you will like the show.

My dd and I could care less about Lights, Motor, Action, but my dh and ds really like it. So I guess it may be a gender thing.

There is a barber shop quartet group that sings prior to Beauty and the Beast. We always go in time to hear them perform. We get a cool treat like ice cream and drinks to enjoy while watching the show.

Performing prior to the show is Four For A Dollar a cappella singing group.
Tuesday-Saturday starts 15/20 minutes before Beauty and the Beast
Last day will be Saturday, September 20.

Tues 9/23:
morning...not sure yet. We could go to DTD, or hang out at the pool, or head to Epcot FW. Dinner ADR for Rose & Crown, crossing my fingers for lagoon side seats for Illuminations...

Be sure to ride Space Ship Earth as they have done some new things there.

Wed 9/24:
My birthday! AK day, Everest FIRST THING (and try to snag a FP for later!). Lunch ADR at Tusker House. We missed Kali River Rapids and the Nemo show last time, so want to do both of those. Would like to see Lion King again, too. Dinner ADR at Raglan Road, then over to the AC late.

Snag that FP then ride the ride. You won't be sorry!

Bring a Poncho for Kali. I am not kidding!

I would so see Lion King again.

Thurs 9/25:
MK day. Breakfast ADR at CP, ADR for afternoon tea at the GF, Spectromagic tonight, and Wishes
Sounds like fun!

Fri 9/26:
check out early, leave our luggage for ME to the airport in the afternoon. Try to be at Epcot at opening, FW until WS opens and it's the first day of the Food & Wine festival! We'll try to use up any snack credits we have left at the booths, then head back to POFQ about 2 or 3 to catch the ME back to the airport.

I hate saying goodbye to the world! :sad1:

*whew* So, what do you think?

You are going to have a great time!

Have you bought those little rain ponchos at Wal-Mart for like 88 cents? They are in the camping area. If you do get a tropical storm, you would be fine wearing a poncho and walking around. :thumbsup2 I go nuts and buy like one for everyday of our trip, then when we get back I return the ones we do not use.

Well, DS6 did not like 1st grade. He said it was too long and he missed me. Poor little guy. I knew it would be hard for him. He and I are rarely apart. Hopefully he will adjust after a few days.

Aw...poor thing.

Could you have lunch with him on Thursday or Friday? Would that give him something to look forward to or would he be crushed when you left.

Hey Mayers! :wave2: Sorry for falling off the face of the planet (at least as far as this thread goes :)). I've been super busy with work and moving (twice in two weeks) and have finally started to slow down into a brisk jog instead of full-on sprint :). I'm nowhere near caught up on what's going on with everyone, other than the last few pages.

Let's see....1st major change is that I moved out of CP housing and into a place with some friends from work. Because I had extended I had to change apartments and the new roommate situation was just not working at all. Some friends and I had been looking for a place anyways and we happened to find one that was available the following week within our budget....Hence moving twice in two weeks. But now I feel like I'm a permanent resident instead of just hanging.

As of right this moment, I'm still a CP, but am working to go full-time and become a permanent cast member. I'm still at Mission:Space, working tons of hours. Unless it's a Tuesday or Wednesday (usually), you can probably find me there anytime of the day :).

The parks are definitely starting to slow down....Even yesterday was very slow and downright boring from a CM perspective.

I still spend a fair amount of time playing in the parks...going to MK and probably Epcot tomorrow :)

Plans look great Katie!! I bet you are getting so excited! :yay:

I would recommend seeing the Indiana Jones stunt show, as well as Lights, Motors, Action!! Both are very good!

Thanks for that recommendation :thumbsup2 -- I feel like we kind of skimmed over DHS last year, and want to spend a bit more time there. Originally, I had planned Boma (8 am breakfast), then Blizzard Beach, then DHS for the afternoon/evening. I scratched BB for now -- if it looks like it will be ridiculously hot that day, maybe we'll bring our suits in a backpack and head over there for a few hours midday. Our dinner ADR is about 6:30, and DHS open late night for EMH -- and I don't have anything big planned early the next morning, so we could close down the park if we are up to it

KB - Here are some helpful hints! I hope they help!

Oh, this is great stuff! Thanks for all the advice!

We did the princess breakfast last year and loved it (yes, DH loved it too -- especially Jasmine's costume, I believe ) I can't believe I only planned one character meal this year -- breakfast at CP -- but that's the way it worked out. :confused3 I think our ADR's should be fun, though.

Last year, we totally missed Mexico, China, and America, and want to really explore those pavilions. We liked Norway and ate at the bakery there, but Maelstrom was closed for renovations, so we have to do that one this year. Japan was great, your kids will love the candy artist and the taiko drummers! DH sampled some sake at the sake bar, and I bought lucky cats (I collect them). We saw quite a bit of France and Morocco, but really blitzed through Germany and Italy. I have read that they sometimes do a free tour in Morocco, called "Treasures of Morocco", I think, so I will ask about that.

Don't forget to say Hi to Jessie (Sulley) when you go by Mission Space if she is working.

I am green with envy that you are eating at Le Cellier and I am not. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

See Turtle Talk with Crush. I am amazed by this.

Is Sulley still there? DH LOVES Mission Space...I think it's one of his favorite rides in all of WDW! Couldn't get in at LC last year, and could only get lunch this year, but we're really looking forward to it! DH's mom is from Canada, so Canada at Epcot was really fun for him to visit.

I love wishes!

Me too! I get all teary eyed...hope to catch it twice this trip, and see Spectromagic, too...totally missed that last year.

I love Indy. So if you liked the movies, you will like the show.

My dd and I could care less about Lights, Motor, Action, but my dh and ds really like it. So I guess it may be a gender thing.

Tuesday-Saturday starts 15/20 minutes before Beauty and the Beast
Last day will be Saturday, September 20.

OK, check, 2 votes for Indy -- and I am a HUGE Indy fan  Him and Captain Jack Sparrow pirate: *sigh* :o The car show...I'll ask DH if he wants to see it, and leave that up to his testosterone level for the day :rotfl2: Heck, if he'll sit through Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast with me, why not? Looks like we'll miss Four for a Dollar since our DHS day is 9/22 and their last performance is 9/20.

Be sure to ride Space Ship Earth as they have done some new things there.

Yep, I heard that was renovated. And we missed the Living Seas last year, so gotta do that. We've seen Turtle Talk with Crush at DL...but it's always different with the audience participation.

Snag that FP then ride the ride. You won't be sorry!

Bring a Poncho for Kali. I am not kidding!

Yep, last year we only rode Everest once, but I want at least two this time! Thanks for the warning about Kali -- I expect it will be about as wet as Grizzly River Run at DCA. Probably try it after lunch so we don't show up at Tusker House soaking wet

Great tip! I will put that on my "stuff to get" list :thanks:

As of right this moment, I'm still a CP, but am working to go full-time and become a permanent cast member. I'm still at Mission:Space, working tons of hours. Unless it's a Tuesday or Wednesday (usually), you can probably find me there anytime of the day :).

Sulley!!! Good to see you... DH absolutely LOVES  :yay:  MS. We will be at Epcot Fri 9/19, Sat 9/20, Tues 9/23, and Fri 9/26...so hopefully we'll see you there at least one of those times! Do you work Orange or Green? I've only gone on Green, but he loves Orange...

Yeah Sulley is here!!! :goodvibes :yay: Great to hear from you! Glad you got the apartement thing worked out. That is so great that you are applying to be a full-time CM. We are coming in January!! Hoping for nice weather and low crowds!! :wizard:

Good luck with everything! :goodvibes

Aw...poor thing.

Could you have lunch with him on Thursday or Friday? Would that give him something to look forward to or would he be crushed when you left.

That's a great idea NC!! You are just full of ideas lately!! :goodvibes

I'm not sure exactly what is going on with him. He loved kindergarten last year. But he was home at 11:00, now it's 3:00. I told him I'd pick him up today so he can be home a little earlier. He usually loves to ride the bus, but yesterday he didn't even like that. :confused3 I'm hoping he will get adjusted to everything in a few days. :wizard:

In other news - I got a letter from DS9's school saying that he has been accepted into the accelerated math program. Can you believe this after all he has been through??? Apparently his test scores from the end of third grade were well above normal so he will be put in the accelerated math and by the end of 4th grade the goal is to be through 4th and 5th grade math. He is not thrilled with the whole idea. And I'm not sure it's going to work out for him because he doesn't respond well when he's being pushed. So I will need to talk it over with his teacher. But I am just so proud of all the progress he has made!

Wow, two apartments in two weeks. I hope you are getting settled in.

Good luck on full-time!

Great tip! I will put that on my "stuff to get" list :thanks:

:scared1: I completely missed that 9/20 would be 4 for $1's last day. I hope it is just for the season. :scared1:

Shelly my DS usually hates to go back to school after summer vacation, Christmas break, spring break, etc. As I have said before, he would love to be home schooled but he is concerned about the quality of education he would receive. Maybe the little notes in his lunch or backpack might help too! :lovestruc

My dd on the other hand, :sad2: after her first full day of kindergarten, I said, "I really missed you today." She said, "Hmm, I didn't miss you, in fact, I didn't think of you at all."

Congrats on the advanced math track for you son. Just let him know, it is not advanced for him because he is just so super smart, it is the perfect level for him. :thumbsup2

Hey MAYers!!! :goodvibes

Yinz guys have been pretty chatty this morning! There's no talk of dying thread today! :goodvibes It's good to hear from Sulley!!!

Guys - I miss Disney.... :guilty: I know that everyone does, but I really
rea-a-a-ally do... LOL - I have even been spending a small fortune for each bottle for the "Gold Peak Tea" that I have been drinking, just because it reminds me of WDW - (that was the beverage of choice for me and DH on our honeymoon at the food court at POR), I recently discovered that they sell it in the little shop that we have in the lobby of my building... :goodvibes

Also, I have been working extra hours after I get done with work at my dad's print shop. I am trying to make money for our May WDW trip (yes, we're so over September again - lol and we have moved back to May). So, it has definately been a rough couple of weeks to say the least. After we got back from the wedding, it has been non-stop working and running around and then after all that is done - we have to pack up and move my apartment by the end of the month. ugh!!! but, it will all be worth it when we can afford to go away for our anniversary trip :lovestruc

Hi RF - End of the month move for you! I keep hoping Jo will show up and send you some boxes. It will so be worth it for you guys to get ahead financially.

I eat WDW comfort foods as well. When we get back, I buy Hagaan Daas Bars that they sell in WDW World. The ones with Vanilla Ice Cream, covered with chocolate and almonds. Oh I wish I had one now.

:rotfl:

Would someone send me an ark?

It just keeps raining and raining and raining.

Many schools were closed here in Little Rock today due to power outages. Most of the electrical crews are in Louisiana to work the hurricane as it wasn't supposed to hit this area very hard. It was supposed to go into Texas and Oklahoma.

There are hurricane refugees here in churches, etc. that were without power. It is crazy I tell ya!

Thankfully we have power! :woohoo:

I'm starting to think about my CS meals. . . Looking for a good CS place for lunch in Epcot. . . We didn't care for Boulangerie Patiserrie or Sunshine Seasons. . . We liked Electric Umbrella and will probably just go there again, unless you MAYers have another suggestion. . .

Also looking for somewhere at DHS to have lunch around 10:30-11:00am, okay more like brunch! Anything like that (CS)??? Fantasmic is at 7:00, therefore they made all the Fantasmic packages between 3:30-4:30. So, we are having dinner at 4:00! So we will want to have lunch fairly early. . .

Thanks! :goodvibes

Morning MAYers! :snooty:

Shelly, it is so exciting that you are ready to plan your meals already!! I can't wait until I am close enough to stop "imaginary" planning everything lol :rotfl: - and actually plan all my meals and itinerary :goodvibes

I never ate CS at Epcot but my cousin Mike (who I just found out is going into the Disney College Program in January :woohoo:) says to eat at this place -

I am not a huge Mexican food fan, I like it but only certain things.

I really wanted to try this place, but everytime that we were in Epcot we had ADR's somewhere already

YUM!!! It looks super delicious!

Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful - but these seem like pretty good choices

NC - How are you hanging in there? :snooty: :grouphug:
Did it clear up at all? :umbrella:

Well, my dd's dance class was cancelled last night. No electricity. I hauled my booty up to the gym this morning only to find they were closed due to no power as well. Lot of schools closed about 1 hour southwest of here due to no powere and lots of flooding.

On the bright side, it is only drizzling here this morning. Maybe the storm is on it's way out. :yay:
