Part Deux!

So we get order and head down the Hwy to the school. DS bites down on a fry and guess what?

Pops a bracket. Drama ensues...

They are going to charge you money to put it back on.

They are going to think I am not careful with my braces.

I haven't even had my braces on an hour, not even 30 minutes.

The kids at school will make fun of me that my braces are broken and I just got them.

etc.

etc.

etc.

I am there saying...

It's ok.

It's no big deal.

These things happen all the time.

Dr. V. knows that this bracket was in a bad position.

etc.

etc.

etc.




There is so much crying and stress that there is no way that child can go back into the school. Then my dd is so upset over it that she can't go back either.

We go home.

I call the ortho office and they are at lunch from 1 to 2.

No cable guys.

I get my WDW Magical Express packets in the mail. They left me off. I do not have a voucher to get on that bus!!!

I have to get on that bus. I need a vacation!!!

Part Tres!

So I call WDW Reservations where I am put on hold...

(Shelly please help me!)

My DH calls on the other line to ask how the braces went. I said I don't have time for this. Click! I hang up on him.

Still no cable guy.

Finally someone comes on the phone and they try to straighten it out.

But egads....There is a computer system error...

They must get help. I get put on hold again...

Finally, they come back on and tell me I will be allowed on the "FREE" bus (as my DH calls it.)

But I will not have luggage tags for my self.

Will the Newcrews be able to make it to WDW with only 6 pieces of luggage?

More later, I must buy milk shakes for the invalids.

And this story aint over!!!

So, I finally get off the phone with WDW and I am assured a placed on the bus.

Then I look at the clock. It's just after 2 p.m. and still no cable guy.

The ortho office is back from lunch so I decide to call them.

I'm put on hold...

Then I start telling the receptionist about ds and the popped off bracket and she says they can only maybe squeeze him at 3 p.m. (which I am supposed to be home between 1 pm and 4 pm for the cable guy). So I am not sure. She tells me they don't work on Fridays. They usually only put brackets on in the morning, can ds come in on Monday morning?

No, ds can't come in on Monday morning, he has SAT tests. He has them Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and they may take them in the afternoon as well. I would hate to come next Thursday because we leave on Friday for WDW.

Well, she says, he came come at 3 pm today or not at all.

What?

So then I say, "Well, the bracket had a very awkward placement. They said it might not stay and guess what we are not even 10 minutes out of the office and it pops off."

So she says, "Let me check with Angie and Dr. V."

I'm put on hold...

She comes back on the phone. Oh, yeah! They know exactly what you are talking about. Bring him when you can and we will take care of it.

Then, I ask can the professionals to tell DS that this is not his fault. He was very careful and the bracket is just in an awkward place and may fall off again. He is a very conscience boy and he just felt like a complete loser when that bracket came off.

So she assures me that they will smooth things over with him.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I was out of checks at the ortho office this morning, so I was unable to make my $1000 + down payment on DS's braces. I had already taken care of dd's but not ds's.

So, it is now around 2:30 and still no cable guy.

I make an executive decision to get in my car and run ds to the ortho and drop him off and come back and wait for the cable guy.

I drop ds off. Come home.

No cable guy.

I decide to get a new pack of checks and will write out the check for the ortho and have ds run it in when I pick him up.

Guess what?

No checks in the check box. Just the order form.

Can you believe this?

So I text my dh about the checks. No response.

I start a load of laundry in my new washer (remember old one went out on Easter eve.)

Then ds calls and is ready to be picked up. It is now 3:15 and no cable guy.

I jump in the car and am driving to pick up ds. 3:20 ds calls asking, "mom where are you?" I am one block from the orthodontist. I 'll be there in a minute.

I pick up DS. He is happy. They told him it was not his fault that bracket came off. He is much more settled.

3:35 back home.

No cable guy.

Oh, but I have a voice mail on the home phone. Maybe it's the cable guy. But I gave him my cell phone too!

So I listen to the voice mail.

It is the County Sheriff's Office.

I have a supena to appear in court on April 17th.

The day before I leave for WDW!

What's up with that?

Is it from the car wreck and co-dependant mother/daughter duo or from the robbery of last week?

Gooooooood grief!!!!! I think that I am going to cry!


Instead I call the sheriff and decide to ask him what it is about.

(Voice of John Wayne) Well little missy, this about the robbery you witnessed last week. One of the perps is a multilple offender. It looks like they need you in court to testify to put this criminal away for a mighty long time!

Uh, I don't want to testify.

I am scared to death of those thugs.

(John Wayne) Well, if you don't testify, you'll be in contempt of court.

What? I try to help the police catch bad guys and now the gang members are gonna know who I am and where I live. Didn't I do enough already.

(john Wayne) Well, not just yet. You'll need to testify in court.

What if they decide to retaliate against me for testifying?

(John Wayne) Well, I can't help you with that! Good luck!

So, I decide to use the Bat phone and call my next door neighbor and crime solving partner, Patricia.

Sidenote: (Yes, her name is Patricia and my name is Patricia. We live next door to each other and work out at the same gym with the same trainer and go to the same church, and are good friends. Now, that is scary.)

I call her cell, no answer.

Just then my Bat phone rings.

I pick up.

OK. What's up with this?

I don't know.

We said we don't want to testify and don't want our secret identity revealed.

I know.

Do you think the criminals have our names and addresses?

Probably.

Do think if we are don't testify we will be in contempt of court?

Yes.

Do think that means jail?

Maybe.

Probably. I have seen it on Law & Order.

I have seen it on CSI.

Jail. Definately jail.

The Patricia decides to call the prosecuter.

We hang up.

Stilll no cable guy.

3:59 phone rings. It's the cable guy. He is on his way. But is it really the cable guy or is it gang member on his way over to hush me up and keep me from testifying! (oh, my mind goes to some terrible places.)

Oh my goodness, I cant go to sleep until I hear the rest of the story.

Cable guy shows up and even though he is wearing red and black like the gang members. He is the Comcast cable guy. His name is Les. And he was one of the guys walking into Burger King when I was getting lunch for my kids.

I am no longer upset that I waited for them yesterday and they didn't show up. (Which I was major POd yesterday when they No Showed. But in their defense, we did just have a tornado and they have been very busy.) So I am very nice and offer ice water and just please fix my cable.


P calls back and says, " Just talked to a prosecuter, not THE prosecuter but he said we do have to testify. These guys rarely retaliate, especially if you stand up to them and put them in prison." (um, that's not what happens on Law and Order.)

So then she says, I think we need to buy wigs and glasses. We should wear disguises when we testify. (uh, but they know our name and addresses?) Yeah, but not what we look like. Hmmm... OK I think I can do that.

Then she had a stroke of genius!!!!

She said, "I think we should ask two of the trainers at our gym to go with us to court. They are huge! and very intimidating. Do you think our hubbies will go for it?'

Yeah! I think so!

But do you think the trainers will go for it?

Oh, yeah! Those guys will be all about it! They love stuff like this!

So, we decide to tell our hubbies what is going on.

I call mine, she calls hers.

Cable guy Les is the next room. (Those Comcast guys better not be in that red, black, and white gang.)

I tell my hubby the plan. And he says, "I look like a nearly 50 year old middle aged man. Wait, I am a nearly 50 year old middle aged man. I would much rather those gang guys think you are married to one of the trainers. Those trainers scare me! I am afriad to go to your gym." Uh, and he doesn't go to my gym. We have separate gyms. Really. We do!

So we call each other back and both of our hubbies agreed we should take the trainers with us to court. They have even offered to pay the guys to go to court with us. Body guards.

We are going to talk to them in the morning!!!

I would feel so much better going to court with those guys. They are so strong. Think ox. They used to compete in body building things and they were good.

Those guys are great guys and I am really hoping they will go to court with us.

So then around 5:30 Les tells me my Cable has been restored and is better than ever! (It's true. It really is better.)

But there is a big orange cable across my front yard.

They are going to bury it sometime. Who knows when!

My son asked if I will need to go into the witness protection program.
