LOVVVVVE the door magnet photos... i sooo have to get my dd into this! :)

I spoke to dh about FE and he thinks it's a great idea... so, count us IN!!!
we are a family of five... dh/me/dd17/ds15/ds4... our only restriction is we have a life-threatening peanut/tree nut allergy, so would appreciate FE gifts w/out nuts! (I hope it's okay to specify something like that.)

Now, since we are in on the FE, can anyone give me an idea of the $ amount per gift? we already came up with a few good ideas, but would love a little guidance! also, if there are multiple kids, do you leave multiple gifts if it's an "individual" type thing? also, if i run out of time and/or creativitiy, would it be okay to bring a disney Christmas stocking for our FE gifts or would that be "odd?"

I am getting soooo excited for this cruise... and i am sure i am not alone!!!

This is my first FE so I'm certainly no expert but there isn't a $ amount. Just whatever you want. Homemade, store bought, inexpensive, more, less, etc. I've been stalking these boards long enough to realize that everyone just loves coming to their room every day and seeing what appeared in their FEs while they were gone. No rules regarding how many gifts, either. You can do a family gift, or individual, or one for adults, one for kids....you get the idea.

I've been keeping my eyes open for sales. I started out all gung-ho about making things but (as usual) that idea died. I've already got some great stuff for the kids and am working on an idea for adults. This FE is pretty big so just make sure that you check your kids' stuff for peanuts. I'm sure no one would intentionally give them something with peanuts, but, again, there are a BUNCH of cabins.

This is going to be FUN!!!

Oh, don't worry, I am fanatical about reading labels! If homemade treat, we just let DH eat it! LOL!

Alright, let's revive this thread!! My name is Michelle . I sent a PM to the original organizer that I'm willing to be the new roll call leader and FE organizer. But haven't heard back yet. So let's start from scratch. If you are sailing on this cruise please post the following:
1. Board name
2. Names of people in your cabin (and ages if you choose)
3. Cabin number (if you don't know, put Deck number. If you don't know that, put TBD and follow up once you know)
4. Yes/No/TBD if you want to participate in Fish Extender (FE) gift exchange.

I see an earlier post asked for ideas. On our last cruise (also our first!) people sometimes gave out postcards they had gotten in port. I thought that was a great idea as they were not expensive and very practical. We also received pins from the ports which was fun. 90% of the people listed who the gift was from (name/cabin). We were in the 10% since we didn't know people did that.

If you don't have a FE itself, check Etsy.com, or if you're creative you can make your own.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

We are not doing FE, but will be decorating our door though! Here are the pictures of our door last year, and us with it!

Not sure if we are making new ones or not yet. :goodvibes

Hello - New to the FE program and this is our 2nd Disney Cruise.

Question - can guests staying on deck 11 or 12 in the suites participate???

Sounds like fun.

SO what is everyone planning?

Here is what I am thinking. All of us our meeting at my house Sunday to have dinner and organize our cruise stuff.....

Grand Caymen - Island Tour for older adults and the Pirate Encounter for me and my family

Costa Maya - Dophina excursion for my kids (I read it was right at the end of pier can anyone confirm this) It is the one this is 74 for kids 89 for adults no swimming just interaction

Cozmel - Just shop in port area and stay on ship rest of the day to enjoy

Castaway Cay - 5k in the morning, the getaway package that includes float/bike and stingray.

How about you......

On some of the cruises we have been on, some of the FE gifts were representative of the city or state of the person giving the gift. Could be a certain type of candy, cookies, or something else that comes from their hometown. It was interesting receiving some of these gifts as they would also come with a story about the gift--just something to consider.

Castaway Cay my kids are anxious to try Pelicn Plunge and maybe we will reserve/rent snorkel equipment or a float... Can these be rented on site?

1 Port Canaveral, Florida - 3:45 p.m.
2 At Sea - -
3 Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands 11:30 a.m. 4:45 p.m.
4 Costa Maya, Mexico 1:00 p.m. 5:30 p.m.
5 Cozumel, Mexico 8:30 a.m. 5:30 p.m.

I am also doing the pirate encounter with my son, what time are you going, we are doing the first on at 10 or 10:30 (I forget the exact time). We might be doing the dolphin encounter in Costa Maya too, but I am not for sure. I have it reserved but am going back and forth on it. I might try the 5K at CC, but it will depend if the kids area is open yet sine it is just me and my little guy :) SOOOO we might be seeing a lot of each other LOL.

Awesome!!!! I have not booked will do this weekend, but I will definately do the first one.

I thought I saw different ports times as well. I am not sure if it was b/t DCL site and this site or what since we booked 2 weeks ago I have been reading about 4 different website all about this cruise.

If anyone calls DCL directly and finds out please let us know. I may try and call tmrw, but I have been on the phone with the everyday this week....

Yep, I booked the first one and it is listed as 10:45, the next one is 1:45 and I would be afraid to do that one because my little one (and myself) are very fair and I think we would burn to a crisp, even with sunscreen, during the middle of the day. I will try and call tomorrow if I get time to find out!!

If memory serves, you've cruised before but your little one hasn't. If I'm telling you something you already know...please ignore me. ;) The Caribbean sun will burn fair skinned people even at 10:45 a.m. so please lather on the sunscreen and if possible, put your son in a rash guard. Last June in the Bahamas, my youngest (who was 11 at the time) snorkeled all day and the back of his legs was bright red the rest of the cruise. Luckily his back was spared because of the shirt.

I was doing an itinerary similar to this one last May and my friend and I both wore board shorts and rash guards, found shade as often as possible, and used a ton of sunscreen. Unfortunately, a few too many beers coupled with cool water at a swim up bar in Cozumel made me forget to re-apply to my face. My nose was NOT happy that night and I looked faintly raccoonish. :lmao:

Perhaps this info will help any who have not cruised before or who have not been to these locations before. The sun is brutal down there, even when it feels lovely.
