May 12, 2011 dream cruise meet!!!

As a warm up to the cruise next month, tomorrow we are going to see Disney on Ice! DD is so excited that I don't think she will sleep a wink tonight.

This will be the first ever cruise for my daughter (6) and I. My daughter has autism, so I'm sure this will be quite an adventure for the two of us. Any tips or must-sees for a first timer??? Thanks.

Welcome to the DIS, this thread and to cruising! Ya'll are going to love the Dream, I just know it! The Disney shows are fantastic and if your daughter likes Disney characters they will be around the ship for lots of opportunities for picture taking with them. The ship itself is so beautiful and with so much to do, I can't narrow it down! Just take your time and really explore the ship. I love the sailaway party and be sure to be out on deck at sailaway to hear the ship's horn blow! It is just my husband and myself, so I don't know too much about the kid's programs, maybe someone else will fill you in on those. Enjoy! It will be here before we know it.

Can you come earlier than the assigned times. We haven't had that before. I'm in grad school,work full time, and just finished my dd's competition season, so just got around to do the online checkin and got 1230! Uugh!

For some reason, I had not been getting email notifications, and just figured the board was dead. Now that I just finished this school term, I went and did the online check in for the cruise and to check to see why the board has been "dead". To my surprise, there were tons of posts. I'm just sick over this as my daughter loves to do the FE exchange.

So, maybe there are some other families who missed the deadline that would like to participate. If so, send me an email at skmassey@gmail.com. If not, I will just hang up our FE anyways b/c it is so cute!

Cannot believe our sail date is so close now. I have less than 2 weeks to get us packed and the animals packed for vacation!

So excited but yet nervous since it will be our first one.

Getting so hard to keep it a secret and dd is getting tired of being sent to her room to play while I work on FE gifts!

We live in South Florida, but are driving up early the day prior and have a full day planned. We're going to the Space Center for 1/2 the day, then the Cocoa Beach pier and the Cocoa Beach Manatee Sanctuary Park. We'll probably have dinner at Fishlips and then have our 1 night at the Country Inn & Suites. After breakfast at the hotel, we are driving to the port and parking there. I told dh that is my splurge and I have been saving my pennies for it. After the cruise, I want to be able to hop in the car right away and drive home.

I'm getting excited now!

Just want to double check - what time does the port open? I thought it was 10:00 but I don't want to be waiting outside in the car so I was going to aim for 10:30.

By chance did you find out what time the port parking lot opens? I think we are going to do the same thing. Stay at CI&S & drive to the port. I hear they start doing everything early as long as the ship is ready.. open port, ship. I'm so excited & dont want to miss a second!

No, I haven't found out for sure. For some reason, I thought I had read awhile back that it was 10:00. I really want to confirm that. Let me know if you hear anything about it.

Does anybody know if there will be a champagne tasting offered on the ship? I've heard conflicting reports from different people.
