Thanks guys! Keep the justifications coming. :thumbsup2

Read on another thread that Cove Cafe has a place with books/ lending library type set up. That might be a good place to do your book exchange? Everyone brings a book & takes another one.

My opinion (as a former teacher) as long as they are not going to keep your child from moving up to the next grade or put you in jail. GO FOR IT!!!

Colleges want to see life experiences, they want to see that the student has travelled and is aware that a whole other world is out there. Grades are not the only thing schools look at...

Your child will be able to say "I've sailed across the Atlantic ocean; I've seen the Barbary Apes, I've Travelled through the Canary Islands..."

How many school Principals or teachers can say that???

As someone who was a licensed Jr./Sr. High School Teacher but decided that wasn't my calling after all....I'd agree!! (of course maybe my inability to cope wiht the restrictions of the public education system is part of the reason that wasn't my calling..hehehehe:rotfl2: ...but who cares as long as I have my cabin on the boat!!:woohoo: )

For those of you who are doing the Med cruise, too: What do you plan to do for the 4-5 hours we have to be off the ship? Tour Barcelona? DCL excursions? I am wondering if we take a taxi into Las Ramblas and just wander around and sightsee for a few hours and then go back to the port. If I understand correctly, we can leave our belongings on the ship.

What are your plans?????

We will probably try the tourist bus system around Barcelona that day.

Spoke to DCL about that yesterday, they said that we are welcome to stay onboard, but the food won't be open until 1pm and you'll be asked to rekey your key to world card. The people who are going out will need to check in to rekey. Supposedly they will move our luggage for us, too. Most of us don't have the same rooms for the second cruise. We plan to go for a walk up and down Las Ramblas to search for food, a spanish fan (gift for family), Harry Potter in Spanish/catalan (gift for DS -catsitter) and espedrilles, we will buy the two day pass for the bus and hit all the other places we may have missed the previous day. I'm getting Harry Potter in every country as a gift collection for my sister who is the part time house sitter and cat sitter.

I called DCL about this, too. They said if we have different rooms and we choose to get off the ship, they will move our luggage to Guest services and we will have to check in again. Also, much to my angst as you saw from my previous posts, they said they will try and book you in the same room for both cruises. So luggage wouldn't have to be packed and moved.

We are meeting our inlaws in Barcelona who will be sailing with us, so we don't want to be stuck in a DCL excursion.
Does anyone know if taxi's are readily available to get from the port to Las Ramblas? Which means I'll have to remember to get Euros in Cadiz for the taxi....

Actually, maybe I will pick up some Euros and pounds before we leave...

Taxis are easily available in the port to go any where you want.

I was curious when final payment is due on this cruise and if anyone has received any addtional info from Disney?

Already due - Mine was paid on the 1st - which was the last day I think...

It's due on the 11th. I already paid mine just to make sure that DCL gets it so I can make my excursions.

Isn't it due on the 11th? That's when my TA told me I could book at 90 days...

Also, for those of you who did pay in full, does your reservation say "booked" or "paid" or something else?

Mine says booked, but I paid it in full:confused3

Feb 11th same day as you can start booking excursion if you are CC member.

Also paid in full but just says booked on the reservation site.

Yeah not to be redundant....but payment in full is due on the 11th....we've been paid for over a month and it never changed from "booked" to "paid" or anything else....although it did change to reflect our stateroom number change....so i think "booked" is as good as it gets!

I just spoke with DCL. They are now offering military rates on this sailing for active and retired military. If I move from our cat 3 to a cat 6 we would save $3680 ($3000 if we downgrade to a cat 4). The military cat 6 price is $1480 off the currently published rate. The cat 4 price is $1600 off.

I wish they would offer military rates on the 26 May sailing as we are already booked in a cat 6 on that cruise.

6056 is still available on this cruise so we could have the same room for both cruises.

I would imagine availibility will increase further after final payment is due on 11 February.

I haven't talked to Ted about this yet. I can already tell you he is not going to want to give up the midship cat 3. In my mind the concierge better feed him tiny grapes while he lounges on the veranda to justify that price difference.

A few days ago I had said I knew I had something else to post, but couldn't remember what it was... now I remember. This weekend I watched the promotional DVD that came in the mail and looked at the CAT. 3 room. Jonathan and I dropped our mouths and both said, "no, wonder Ted didn't want to give this room up!!!!!" We couldn't believe how beautiful it was.

If they are offering Military rates, that means FL resident rates are next! WooHoo!!!!:woohoo:

Wow. Now we're not getting as good of a deal (Disney offered 50% off to CM's in December, which is what prompted us to go). Good news for everyone able to take advantage of the savings.

I suppose if the ship is that empty, it should make Palo reservations easier to grab.

And I suppose this is proof that this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I can't see Disney returning to the Med, vs staying out west where you can sell the ship out in days.

No savings for those of us in the Great White North yet:confused3
