May 12, 2007 -- Taking the Magic to the Mediterranean -- 14 day Repo Cruise!

OOOOH....Congratulations! Welcom to the DVC

We bought into Saratoga not tooo long ago....I think you'll find that you just sleep better at night knowing that you're GUARANTEED a Disney vacation every year ....it's just such a weight off !!! hehehe

So do you plan to use points to add to the trip next year? We're going to have 400 points (because we banked most of ours this year) so we're probably going to stay at Disney for several days before we help move the Magic to the Mediterranean.....and since we're gonna have so many points I'm giving serious consideration to staying at AK Lodge. We've never stayed there (we usually do the Caribbean Beach actually) but considering my animal/AK fixation it would be a perfect way to start an exciting vacation I think!

Yes, we are thinking about rebooking the cruise... using some points and then going to WDW before and after the trip. That way we can get used to the West Coast - East coast time change to begin and then again on the way back. We will have about 560 points (we bought from someone who had banked points as a part of the deal) so, I'm thinking a little spread out here and there and then cash balance. I understand that AK is to die for! I met the head chef of WDW last year on the cruise and his fav food was from AK lodge. To wake up and see the animals is a dream. But on the other hand, I want to check out OKW and I think DD would love the All Star Movie resort too (for a day) The hard part will be not to run over to DL (15 min. away) and stay at the GF.

AK lodge is a great place, make sure to take advantage of the cultural CM's. We have stayed there on points and really enjoyed it. You will love DVC, it has been great for us.

AKL is an awesome place. Of course the best place point value will be at OKW, but we've stayed at other resorts even the point value was much higher, simply because that's where we wanted to stay That's the fun about owning... you can do what you want.

It looks like the shows are on Tuesday and Thursday, Rehearsals are on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Saturday they just visit a horse ranch. We will be there on a Tuesday.

Hi everyone

Well, we slipped on down to page 2 again. So, instead of just bumping us up - I will actually say something meaningful (well, at least I think it is meaningful).

I'm already working on an official lanyard and name badge for this cruise. Why is this so important you may ask - well, the lanyard and name badge will be available to everyone on the cruise list for free! But you must be on the cruise list. So make sure you get signed up!

I follow a series on the Travel Channel hosted by Keith Floyd. Currently he is doing a series called "Floyd around the Med". It is on at 3:30pm here, so I record it. I came home yesterday to discover that it was on Barcelona and Jerez. It showed the dancing horses. They were really impressive.

He also does a series called "Floyd on Spain" and "Floyd on Italy". I think they repeat. It is a combo travel / cooking show.

I saw the pictures of the banner from the Panama Canal cruise and did I see on Debbie's list/roster a picture of a couple with "Reposition This" T-Shirts, too? Those were real fancy, too! I've also heard that on some cruises people make magnetic door decorations...true? (On our most recent cruise the DVC people had "Welcome Home DVC Member" magnets on their doors...but I heard that you have to use your DVC points to cover the cruise in order to get one of those ...which we won't do b/c DVC is charging more for the cruise than the folks at mousearsvacations and plus we wanna use our points
to stay at AK lodge)

I also have just a general question about these "special cruises" for those of you who've done them before. I have not been able to see or find any of the personal navigators from the last repositioning cruise....so anybody have them scanned as a .pdf they could post or send? Or anyone care to share? Do they do anything special or unique in terms of activities, shows, events, etc.?

Lots of questions, so here are a few answers:

Yes to Debbie's list.
I'm working on getting the "Reposition This" design changed for this cruise.
People do make door signs - on the May Panama Repo, one couple made them for everyone on the "list"
I have the navigators for the May Panama Repo, but they are not scanned - maybe someone else has them scanned.
