Ah...Disney and mothers....many a feminist thesis has been written on THAT subject!! hehehe :rotfl2: :lmao: Disney stories are often lacking in mother characters...or the mothers that are there die or are evil in some way. (or at least that's the discussion I've often heard! hehehe)

Anyhow....I don't necessarily know the names of the characters (if they even have one), but here's a few more animated Disney mothers I remember:
Nemo does have a mother in the opening scene of the movie (but she dies)
Bambi has a mother
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) has a mother, the queen, who we see during the movie
Roo has a mother, Kanga, in the Pooh Series
The owners of the 101 dalmations...doesn't the woman have a baby in the end? That would make her a mother
Duchess is the name of the mommy AristoCat
Mulan has a mother AND a grandmother
Mrs. Potts is a mother (to Chip) isn't she? (in Beauty and the Beast)
Hercules has a mother, too

I'm sure there's more....in fact I can think of a few more who have mothers but who also die (doesn't the hunchback's mother die in one scene of the movie? and brother bear the same thing?)

That's my two cents!

OOOH just thought of another.....Lady from Lady & the Tramp AND her owner are both mothers (Lady has puppies towards the end and her owner has a baby during the movie which the siamese cats terrorize).....

this is FUN!

My coworker says that there's a mother in Treasure Planet, too (I never saw that movie) and that she's a strong mother character, too....my whole office is now brainstorming who the Disney mothers are....hehehe

Also, Mrs. Incredible is a Disney mother (Elastigirl)

OK I PROMISE this is my last mommy post....but milestogo just got me all excited on this topic....LOL :rotfl2:

If you count LIttle Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea, then Ariel is a Disney mother, too, because the whole sequel is about her and Prince Eric's daughter.

Was the airfare with a DCL agent?
My TA got the quote from DCL. They also told him at first that they weren't doing airfare quotes yet. But I had seen several posts from people that were getting airfare quotes from DCL and so I had him recheck. Sure enough - different agent, different story.

Scott,
I used to live on the other side of Yellowstone (in Cody). That was before I met Curt and he convinced me that I should move to Southern California. One thing that I don't miss are those flights in and out of Wyoming. You had to fly through Denver to go anywhere. I seems that I was always getting stranded in Denver.

Susie,

Cody is a very good place, I know I will be there the last full week of July. Will not have any time to play.

Out of Jackson it is usually via SLC, weather is also so much fun in the winter. For this trip we should moved to Cheyenne.

CACruisin, Did they do anything special for father's day?

Not really. I think there may have been a cake? We planned our own stuff. We had brunch at Lumineres because DH wanted to have eggs benedict and be with the kids, then a couples massage. It was also formal night.

Disney mothers
Duchess from the Aristocats
Mrs. Jumbo (Dumbo)
Mrs. Darling (Peter Pan)
Kala (Tarzan's mum)
Perdita (101 Dalmations)
Sarabi (Simba's mom, Lion king)
Kanga (Roo’s mom)
Mrs. Pott’s (A great mother)
Mrs. Incredible (supermom!)
Treasure planet mom (name?)

Mother’s we love to hate:
Stepmother from Cinderella (DD3 calls her stepmudder)

Main characters who become mothers:
Lady (Lady and the tramp)
Nala (becomes a mum)
Ariel becomes Melody’s mother

Small part moms:
Queen mother of Aurora
Mulan’s mother and grandmother
Hercules mother (doesn’t he have two mothers?)

Mothers fondly remembered:
Nemo’s mom (Coral)
Bambi’s mother

• What happened to Ariel’s mother?

My own personal theory is that Ariel's mother is off on a fabulous spa vacation getting exotic facials and mani/pedis and seaweed wraps (pun intended! :Pinkbounc ) with the other MIA Disney mommies....like Belle's mother and Pocohontas' mother, and Jasmine's and Alladin's mothers, etc.!!

Now, to change the subject....I saw reference above to a "formal night"....which I had read about being on some of the longer Disney cruises but haven't yet experienced. Someone tell me about this? Is "formal" REALLY formal....or is it looser? Do we anticipate there will be formal night, or nights, on our cruise? If so, how many? Is black tie the standard of attire for the evening for men? So we need to rent or buy tuxes? (I haven't had a tuxedo on since I went to my Senior Prom!!!....and that was more years ago than I care to admit or remember! hehehe........young at heart, erik, young at heart......going on a DCL vacation where childhood never ends....i won't grow up i won't grow up....off to Neverland, Tink! :tink: hehehe :teeth: ) So anyhow....tuxes it is then?

On our two west coast cruises last year, my husband wore a suit with dress shoes. Our table mates were dressy - he bought a tux years ago, so it was easy for him. While there were quite a few tuxes, it seemed (in my memory) that the majority of the men seemed to be wearing suits, some men were very casual with a hawaiian shirt and pants. I have friends who skip formal night because for a family of 4 with very large feet they have to bring 1.5 extra suit cases just for formal night, so they don't bother with it. There were a lot of families who looked really beautiful. One night I wore something dressy and on the other I wore something a little less formal (but far more comfortable) and dressed it up with nice jewelery.

Formal night is for the fun of the red carpet entering the show the Golden Mickeys and they offer formal pictures that night.

DH has worn tuxes on formal night. We rented them from a company that delivered to the ship. He cleans up real nice. However, we bought a nice dark suit yesterday for him and will probably just take that this time. You see lots of both on formal night

Saw a few tuxes on our West Coast cruise, but not many. DH wore a dark suit. For this cruise he may rent and have the tux delivered to the ship just for the ease of not having to haul a suit around.

Based on the 2005 repo cruises, I would expect two formal nights on this cruise and maybe another 1-2 semiformal night(s), if I am remembering correctly?

Good info all around. I do not even own a suit...LOL....on our previous cruises on Triton's and Palo nights I've worn a blazer and dress slacks (khaki)...either with or without a tie....very much like our pic posted on the roster. Jason at least owns a suit...perhaps I"ll have to go buy one...or maybe we'll rent tuxes and then just have my standard "semi-formal" attire like years previous and then the tuxes for the formal nights. Jason's sister works for a major tuxedo retailer here in upstate New York so maybe she can get us a deal.....if not, then what other companies are people using in the past that actually deliver a tux to the ship? Do they also pick up from the ship? So you never have to bother with taking of valuable space in your luggage? Are there weblinks to these companies?

....although despite not having a suit I do have to confess I have some fun ties....several mickey mouse and several tigger ties...plus one BRIGHT orange tie which I have dubbed an "unofficial" tigger tie based solely on its color!

You will get info in your docs about the tux rentals on the ship. I used them on the May 2005 repo and it worked great. Ordered online, tux was in the room on the first day, and the room stewart picked it up on the last day. Will probably do it again.

Anyone know how to do up a bow tie - Think the last time DH wore one he was still in short pants and they were clip-ons!

DH corrected me, he did not wear a suit, he wore a jacket and pants with tie.

gee - and I thought it was tough getting the jewelry thing organized. Who would have thought that suits, ties, tuxes etc were such a pain :>

If you stop in any good suit or tux retailer - they should be able to teach you/DH to tie a bow tie or a Windsor or Square tie knot. I used to know - back many moons ago when I needed such information.
