To the grass skirts - I think that the women should get to vote on the best hula dancer. You do have to hula don't you?

Sorry - hula dancing is not a requirement for membership! :rotfl2:

Well I have updated the roster. Added a few folks and took a few folks off and added a few pictures!

Now... everyone I remember... I am a Social Worker, I don't do math :rolleyes1

I kinda messed up the spreadsheet I was using and the formula was a little kerflooie (the technical term for it)

So here are some updated stats:

Total Cruisers: 128

Adults: 100
Children: 28

Staterooms: 51

Now, some people have not told me how many cabins they are in so I guessed :thumbsup2 So the number is approximate. :rolleyes1

I see a few new people today so please get me your info if you would like to be added to the roster!

Thanks
Debbie

Am I the only one who is not excited about the excursions in the Canary Islands? We have The North Coast and Pueblo Chico excursion booked. I am having second thoughts about it. The only excursion that I really wanted to do was the Catamaran Adventure. But we can't bring DD 4 on it. I would consider leaving her on the ship, but since this is the first stop after 6 sea days, I'm sure she wants to get off the ship.

What is everyone else doing??? I am reading online about the Islands and nothing jumps out at me. Everything seems ho-hum...

Jennifer

Hi All,
We've been gone all day (on a BIG snowstorm--think cruise) and i am stunned by how much I missed.

To all of you who are newer than I am--WELCOME.

Chris and Robert, I just got the brand new (5th edition) Passportrt's Disney Cruise book in the mail Wednesday. There is a nice (about four page) summary of every port we will go to with maps, walking distances, general taxi costs, and lots of other great info. You may want to invest in one.
We rarely take shore excursions (okay in 8 crusies we have taken one to Kohunlich which was two hours inland and could not have been done on our own--the excursion was worth every penny). I also lived in Valencia, Spain for a year in high school and speak reasonable Spanish. So, we will not be taking any shore excursions. I believe Tenerife is likely to be the only place we need a taxi or rental car. Cadiz and Gibraltar are both very small (we do not plan on going to Seville when at Cadiz as Cadiz is a neat place and the kids and David have never been there so we do not want to skip it for somewhere else). Barcelona has EXCELLENT public transpotation and we will just wander on our own.

Erik, Rio is sleeoing now, but I will ask him in the morning who his favourite character in HSM is. He sings ALL the songs and know ALL the dialog (we own it, and the CDs of course). I had not seen that we are cruising with one of the extras! Cool.

Thank you thank you thank you all for your postings and website links and tips and advice! It definintely makes me feel much better than last night. Can't wait to go through it all and continue with our plans.

P.S. Milestogo, I can't promise anything, and Robert doesn't know, but maybe I can persuade him to go to the Flamenco dancing with you and me!

Seriously everyone, thanks for your postings. Have a good day!

I may live to regret this decision but the die is cast and my small family will be joining you scurvy lot of deck swabbies for the crossing and first Med cruise.

I have Misseulalie to thank or blame for this. She was the first to suggest the economies of sea vs. air travel to Barcelona.

Misseulalie and I have discussed the possibility of a pre cruise meet and greet in Orlando where we both live. When we were on the Jun 6th together there were not so many potential attendees since the cruise did not depart from Florida. Now that we are both on this cruise the number could grow substantially. Not a problem since I live on a hobby farm with plenty of room.

There are two possible scenarios. OK three. Meet on a day unrelated to departure, say in April. Meet the day before departure and of course the third option, none of the above.

It just occurred to me that there are almost 200 pages here that I have yet to read so maybe I'm behind the curve and such a meeting has already been planned or ruled out.

What ever the case I'm open to suggestions and would gladly welcome any and or all of you to my humble home.

A sampling of what we can offer.

24 aces of pastures, ponds, creeks, islands, fishing, swimming, go-cart, ATV, petting zoo, boating, boccie ball, BBQ, Trap shooting and sun soaking. (maybe not trap shooting if there are a lot of guests, we wouldn't want anyone to join a certain VP in the "I shot my friend club")

Located about 10 minutes south of Orlando International airport and less than 30 minutes east of Disney World.

For the List keeper we will be DD 53 DW 43 DD 11 DS 9 DGM (age is classified) and possibly DD 29 in two cabins.

Happy to meet all of you. I'm Rick and I'm a cruiseaholic.

Now if I can just figure out how to change my ticker. pirate:

Hey Chris, sounds good, I'd love that!

Jennifer, Yep, we felt the same about the Canary Islands. We wanted to get off the boat and wander even though nothing is supposed to be open. But weren't interested in the excursions. So, when we found out we could walk to the downtown area and go to the flea market that was an easy answer for us.

OOOH that magic fountain thing looks cool....very much like the Bellagio in LV (where, I might add, one of our fellow Disboarders here works....although I'll allow them to disclose that themselves if they choose!;) ) Jason and I might be interested in doing that if people are organizing a late evening outing to see it!

:tigger:
Erik

Erik - you are right - it DOES look like Bellagio!! That fountain show was amazing - I watched it from the top of "Paris" last year. (I got lucky and got to go to LV courtesy of the Fed!!)

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You joined us!! How did you talk the family into this crazy scheme??:rotfl:

I'm still game for the party at your house. I'll bring food...:yay:

Jennifer - we are doing the animal park. We thought after being on the boat that the GS would enjoy the animals and we would get to see some of the scenery on the way.Wanted the beach but when I saw what the temps were and how far it was I decided against it.

We are doing the animal park, too!! I'm sorry that most people seem to be so underwhelmed by the Tenerife offerings :sad1: It's too bad, I wish they had more to offer that people were into....but everyone on here knows how I feel about animals, and parrots especially....so I'm actually really really excited about the animal park! :woohoo:

We think the animal park will be lots of fun. We all love animals - we are doing the aquarium in Barcelona, too!

We're doing that, too.....we're going to see a lot of each other! :)

Are you doing the DCL aqaurium tour? We are going in the afternoon after the chocolate tour.

I guess we are just too spoiled. We have Sea World and Animal KIngdom in our backyard. We want to get away from theme park type excursions.
I like the walking into town and shopping flea markets. That sounds like fun to me!!! Just touring the city...not a bad idea...

We've done both - ship excursions and some on our own on past cruises. We thought about doing Gibratlar our own way, but just went ahead and booked with Disney for the sake of not having to plan it on our own. We usually take excursions that show us the most about the places we're visiting, so when we decide to go back we know what to expect and what we can do on our own. For this cruise, we did all Disney excursions, but I'm also interested in seeing some Flemenco while in Cadiz. :dance3:
