May 12, 2007 -- Taking the Magic to the Mediterranean -- 14 day Repo Cruise! - Part 3

Happy New year! Kelly, What Great Photos of the Floats! It makes me miss "home" even more. Karen

We're sending one h**l of a rain storm your way guys! We've had more rain in one month than we've had in a year and a half. Literally, we are at 3 times the rainfall.

Happy New Year! Been busy since Christmas working with mom's gift. We bought a slide/negative scanner. Got out bunches of slides and started scanning! It takes a while to do, but worth it. Most of my pictures from ages 1-4 are on slides. Now have to find old negatives, which is more difficult and start scanning those.

Everyone have a safe night!
Debbie

Wow, what wonderful Pictures from 1977! Did you buy a special scanner, or is it the same type that I use for printing and copying? I also can scan stuff into my hard drive.

BY THE WAY, I am at the DCL desk at the Beach Club on Sunday and Thursday afternoons! Connie

OH AND HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

All our snow melted today! I think it got up to 60. In Chicago! In January!!! Tonight at midnight it was 42. I guess we are 20* above normal! No hat, no scarf, no gloves! What a nice reprieve!

Just a bump to get us off page 4! Scott and I are back from the WDW Half Marathon. I was really happy with my finish, Scott satisfied with his. He has already signed up for the "Goofy" for next year, I am thinking of trying the full marathon for next year.
Lynn:eeyore:

Hurray for your success! I heard of the marathon on the radio and thought of you. I'm glad all went well.

Hey, Lynn, I've been thinking about you guys and Shari. How was your weather and the event? Are you guys going to the Minnie?

The weather was great, not too hot, sunny. There was a huge thunderstorm that hit just as the last people were finishing the full marathon on Sunday. Hopefully, everyone was off the course by the time the skys opened up. Scott and I will be there for the Minnie, we are flying in on Friday, May 2nd and leaving on Tues. May 6th. and we will be staying at OKW. Hope we can run into a few folks this time too. It was great to see some of our friends at the Marathon Weekend, and we are sorry that we missed a few also.

Hey Diann;

This weather is bizarre!! Two weeks ago, I am walking around in shorts (yep Jan. in shorts in NJ!!!) Then it goes to below zero for a week, now it is 65 again. I don't know if I should even bother packing up the summer clothes - each time I try it gets warm.

Congrats Lynn & Scott, just the idea of finishing is great!

I am out of work for a couple of days - had to have a tooth pulled. Has anyone mentioned that tooth pain is the worst? I would rather have a migraine.

Cayla

Kayla, I hope your mouth feels better soon. I have a nice hammer. We could save the bill, and I'll just knock them all out for ya! I'm a meanie, huh? Really6, I hope you feel better soon.

Oh, we're expecting below 0 temps this week. Ugh. I fed the sheep and chickens in short sleeves last week. The weather changes have been hard on the kids. Jonathan had pneumonia last week--all better now--but I can't help but think the temp changes are hard on the body.

Hey all you 2005 Panama Canal cruisers --- which side of the ship do I want to be on through the PC? CACruisin has reminded me that one side is hotter than the other with sun? Is there a better side for sun and views? :confused3

Well.... Westbound we started verrrryy early in the morning through the canal. So for the first lock sun and heat is not an issue.

I personally spent more time on the deck rather than in my room with the balcony. But if you are in a room on the port side you would have more sun.

And make sure you go down to decks 3 and 4. It is a completely different perspective from there!

You will have a great time!

Debbie

In my personal experience... I've had tooth pain that far outweighed having a baby! Dann may have a different perspective since she's had a few more than me. :rotfl:

Thanks, Debbie, I knew you guys would know which side to go on. We're on the Westbound.

Thanks, Debbie, I knew you guys would know which side to go on. We're on the Westbound.

Thanks for all the well wishes...in an emergency appointment with an oral surgeon the tooth had to go. Seems it was cracked all teh way to the bottom and the tiny crack had allowed liquids to seap in under the crown...thus creating an abscess. After many screams and yells - bye bye tooth :headache:

I am healing well, the pain is tolerabel now, motrin seems to do the trick. 2 days of Percocet were loads of fun....

As far as the Panama cruise:
I was on deck for the entrance at 5am, spent some time in the atrium (interesting vantage point!) and from my balcony I could see just how close we were to the walls of the canal!! The ship just barely makes it!!
I will move the picture from Shutterfly to Photbucket and share it later on today. We had 6 inches side to side and about 2 feet in length to spare!!

I agree with Debbie - be sure to get forward whilst in a lock...

Also, be sure to get aft - the view of the lock process is amazing!

When we were leaving the canal, school was getting out. There was some event planned for the kids at the canal, so they were all in school uniforms. As they saw teh ship leaving the lock the captain blew the horns. The kids began to sing. we couldn't hear them at first, so they sang louder. M-I-C-K-E-Y...M-O-U-S-E. Well, the we on the ship sang it back to them. This happened two or three times. IT WAS AMAZING!!! I still get chills from the memory!

I TOTALLY agree. Removal of four impacted wisdom teehth when Marika was 6 months old was more painful than having all 8 1/2 pounds of baby w/o drugs (and lacked the payoff too!). I still felt that way after Rio was born--so it is not just a forgetfull thing:rotfl:

I love the photos! Thanks for posting.:thumbsup2

My email notifications are FINALLY workign again, so maybe I will be able to pop on over a bit more often now. HI everyone:)

as promised:

This is from my balcony - the small dark area is water below the ship - the space is that small!!

The lock itself:

Impacted wisdom teeth -check
toothache requiring crown-check
gallbladder disease-check
birthing 7 babies, 3 w/o drugs-check

most painful??? hmmmm-as far as rolling around on the floor screaming, threatening to kill the nurses if I didn't get drugs, goes...I'd have to say .....my gallbladder and the birth of my last son (one hour-freight train passing through you-type labor)

Although the birth of my first son, when I was crawling around the floor of this country hospital that DID NOT have epidurals:eek: , nekkid, swearing at my doctor (who was in my church's leadership-stake president:rolleyes1 ), calling him an "evil man," pretty much ranks right up there at the top.:lmao:

And what is REALLY odd, in spite of all the pain, I LOVE having babies!:) so while removing my Gallbladder relieved 12 years of horrible excruciating tummy aches, there was no cuddly muffin at the end:sad2: .so I don't think I'd EVER want to do that again.

I was kinda hoping you didn't know how a frieght train passing out of you felt.;)

I didn't want that silly thing out--the gallbladder--as it's a goal of mine to keep my body parts in tact, but What a relief not to have tummy aches for the past two years.
