i just now noticed...i am getting closer to my 1000 post!!!

i am as we speak (well technically after i type) getting up to go through our bags and get stuff ready and try stuff on for the trip...i need to reorganize our stuff to distribute our clothes so none of us are stuck in one outfit the whole trip! :rotfl2:

my main problem is that my 13 year old is wearing almost all of his clothes right now so i cannot pack them yet...i could not even get the kid out of shorts for most of winter (but mom...it is hot inside with the heat on!!!) :lmao: "teenagers...dey think dey know everything!!!"

Ok - How many of you are wearing your cruise t-shirt on the 12th? My dd will kill me if we are the only ones and she has the same shirt on that I do!

Count us in! You will see a bunch of us wearing for sure.

We always want to get our picture taken with them on when getting on the ship!

Just talked to my TA who called DCL about my docs. The CM told her that docs had not been mailed yet! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Does anyone have any thoughts yet on whether we are going to keep this thread alive for the crossing or whether we are going to start a new "live" thread? I think it might be nice to decide now so that we don't have two threads going. I know Curt will want to follow whatever thread we use.

Well, since they are no longer doing the "unlimited internet" package deal, my time on line will probably be limited to IM'ing with my DD each day since I am sure DCL's satellite system will operate on it's normal routine.....................

SLOW!

On the banner...did you ever get an answer for the paint? I know they sell the paint we need at a party supply near my house. It's a dry paint and we add water to it, making it the color we need. It's what banners at schools and such are made out of. :thumbsup2 However, I don't know how water proof it is...and since it will be ON the ship...any ideas? Or did that get answered somewhere and I missed it?!?!? :confused3 I get so lost sometimes!! :rolleyes1

I bought 2 large bottles of Delta's Acrylic Paint when I did it. The same kind you use for painting wood and such at the craft store.

Another question-

I know we have to complete customs docs for Bahamas, what about for
Tenerife and Cadiz? (I'm making a huge assumption that once your in EU
you don't have to go through customs again or would you in Barcelona
when you disembark?)

Anyone know what the customs allowance is for Europe?

OK, well supervisor Dennis came through with some research...
The problem is door destruction. Some people have been using glue and tape to post their decorations. They are trying to discourage door decorations for this reason. However, if you use a magnet or magnetic strips that is fine. I told him I would post the info and get the word out about what not to use. Big sigh of silly relief. :woohoo:

   Thank you we have been decorating ours and find it is really fun.. can't wait.

I'll be the guy wearing the crossing t-shirt and the lanyard. :lmao:

Ken

Lynn just informed me that this would be the uniform of the morning and I can then change for sailaway to proper Frat or would it be more KEWL to say PHRAT???? ware.. :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

I was noticing all of the Cynthias myself. For at least 6 genreations the first female born into my dad's family each generation was named Cynthia. Well, my dad broke the tradition and named me Hadley (after Hemmingway's first wife) and I ended up being the only girl that generation! My aunt Cynthia and my great aunt Cynthia always give him a hard time about this. I like the name Cynthia, but I REALLY like being a Hadley, so it is okay with me:)

Typically you find this with the name of Jennifer. I think it the 1970's there was a law that if you named your daughter "Jennifer", the middle name had to be Lee or Lynn.
When I went to school, I always had tons of Jennifers. Even now, everytime I meet someone with that name, my first question is "Lee or Lynn"?

Hey Kelly: you wrote

"I have an off topic question: has anyone ever choked (minor coughing, eye tearing) on a small piece of bread (or other food) coughed so hard that their tonsil to their esophagus hurts every time you sallow or burp for the next week? I lectured so much that I strained my voice and had swollen tonsils, then at a luncheon (Friday) I choked on a small piece of bread and since have had pain swallowing. I went to the doctor yesterday and she had no idea (thanks big help - no strep throat), I'm thinking I bruised my esophagus and inflamed my tonsils???? I know we have several medical folks on this thread, so I thought I'd ask. It's my left tonsil and about 4 inches down the center/left side of my chest. Hope I'm not grossing anyone out, but between all of our moms (who serve all kinds of problems) and our med folks I thought someone may have some insight. Thanks."

may I suggest some mild pain killer like ibuprofen? Sometimes a muscle strain (which is what this sounds like) just needs time, however, we never seem to slow down enough to let the muscles rest correctly. The ibuprofen or similar would allow you to heal without the ache. As long as this pain changes with movement, use, or breathing you are most likely fine. Be sure to follow up with your doctor once more before we all leave. (did he do a cardiogram?)

The salt water gargle does well for the main section of the throat, but few people can gargle deep enough to get to the tonsils. Warm beverages sipped usually work a little better.

Anytime someone chokes it causes trauma to the esophagus - minor as bruising or as severe as a tear or rupture. Since we are covered in skin inside as well as outside (we are really a series of tubes!!) this skin can be abraded just like a knee. So, to that end - a spray of throat stuff might kill the tonsil pain temporarily - if swallowed would ease the espohagus, but not the muscle pull that occured in the costrocondral muscles (4" down in the chest - the rib muscles!). That will just take rest, warmth, pain meds, and maybe a hot bath or soak would help. Treat it like any other muscle strain.

Sorry for the long post.

:rotfl2: When I was in fourth grade, we had 4 Jennifers in our calss of about 20. I do remember (now that I've read your post) the teacher on the first day saying we'd just haev to call them by their full first and middle names. She then foudn out three of them were Jennifer Lees! We ended up wit hJan, Jenny, Jennifer and Jennifer May (so at least one was born who did not get Lee or Lynn).

YES WOULD LOVE TO BE THERE, !!!!!! BUMMER...

Will ya have a computer up and running that day???? maybe we could set up the DIS Chat room??? an idea????

If so post times etc.

You want me to web cam myself in PANIC mode? How Strange. Now if you thought I said PICNIC that's a great idea I can set up a web cam via Yahoo Messenger and you can all share the Banner Picnic with us. Maybe even a microphone so we can chat as we work..

Have to see if I have the time to fit that in to the schedule.

Party time is Noon, Eastern time zone, April 28th (Saturday)

I say let's start a new thread on the DIS Trip reports board. We can keep this one going, but start a new one for all the folks at home! If we feel like chatting that is off topic, we can do it on this thread, otherwise everything about the sailing can go on the Report thread.

Jen
