May 12, 2007 -- Taking the Magic to the Mediterranean -- 14 day Repo Cruise! Part 2

Lot's of posts while I was taking kids to karate and dance. Big limbs quit blowing down, so we felt safe venturing out (as I do know enough to turn around and not try to go through any water covering the entire road--I took the higher roads and found no issues:thumbsup2 ).

Cynthia--Aweosme fish extender:) I am satrting to feel pretty pathetic with my plastic dollar store shower caddy extenders. But my sewing machine is in need of repair and I don't want to hand sew one (at least that is what I am telling myself right now).

DeAnna, etc.--of course we're a cult. One big happy mouse worshipping, fish icon making family:grouphug: :rotfl:

Palos--we actaully only really like the pizza and souffle but not anything else on the dinner menu. Hmmm, I may become a regular at the bar just splitting a pizza with David or having a soufle.

Okay, the CafePress shirts are really nice, but we just aren't T-shirt people:rolleyes1 Will be be disowned (DISowned?) if we don't have them?

Mail--still no docs or magnets. I will have to drown my sorrows in the chocolate center of the souffle once on board:rotfl2:

The craftiness level here is impressive. But it's all a bell curve, so even if most people are on the very crafty part of the curve, there has to be someone at the non-crafty end. And that would be ME!!!!

Unless I am missing something, however, I don't expect to have a bevy of Disboarders dropping stuff off for us, so my inability to whip up a gorgeous custom fish extender will not be prejudicial.

 Cupcake the Non-Crafty

Edited to add that, needless to say, we will not be awing the masses with our attractive and creative door magnets. Instead, I will use the time honored method, perfected over years of being easily confused, of repetitively asking my dh what our stateroom number is and getting lost at the drop of a hat. But I look forward to admiring other people's magnets!

Speaking of cafepress...this is kind of off topic but not really...but I needed to thank Ken for introducing me to cafepress because I used it to make up Thsirts last night that I ordered for me, Jason, and one each for my parents....it's a cute story so I thought I'd share.

The last time I was at WDW with my parents was back in like 1983 when Epcot was still pretty new. That year we were able to go because my grandparents were living in Orlando at the time and we came to stay with them for 3 weeks in August. During that time we did EVERYTHING....WDW, Epcot, Sea World, Gatorland, Daytona Beach, Cape Canaveral/Kennedy Space Center, even went to Busch Gardens and everything. There was one thing we didn't do, though, and that was to go to a big McDonald's that I could see from the highway driving to and from my grandmother's house. This McDonald's had a HUGE playground that I really wanted to play in (we didn't have fancy McD's like that up in the U.P. of Michigan at the time)...but we never did....and I was REAL upset about it....in fact on our second to last day of the trip I asked if we could go and I was told no....we coudln't go and that we had already done LOTS of fun things and I would survive without playing on the playground at McDonald's...but I was SUCH an awful brat (I've since outgrown that:lmao: ) that I threw a fit and screamed "WELL FINE!! THIS WAS A NO FUN VACATION!!!" Of coure the audacity of that is laughable at this point.....but from that day forward that became my mother's mantra to tease me (even to this day)....if we're ever doing something she doesn't like she'll fold her arms across her chest and say "This is a NO FUN Vacation!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

so I made shirts last night that say "NO FUN VACATION 2007" with the word 'no' x-ed out in red...and with the the zeroes in 2007 forming pseudo mickey ears (although we'll see if they let me get away with that). I ordered one shirt for each of us because I think my mother will think it's a hoot! :rotfl:

Cynthia--we took a very non crafty approach. We found shower caddys (like hanging shoe pockets but narrower with just 1 or 2 pockets per row) at the dollar store and I let the kids decorate them with Disney stickers. Absolutely no skill was required.

Hey, I can stick on a sticker with the best of them! However, here's a stupid question, but since there are no stupid questions here goes . . . does the average couple (i.e., no children's gift exchange or the like) really need a fish extender? I guess I just don't envision people dropping stuff off for us at all, let alone with any sort of regularity.

Having never been part of a DIS thread before I don't know. But, I have gotten the impression that many people are planning little gifts for everyone. But I am sure if someone has something for you they'll get it to you with or without an extender.

I think when we were kids they called us "over achievers".

Elizabeth,

We will be there.:thumbsup2 Are we bringing kids? Or just adults?

I think we are really Westbound PANAMA CANAL cruisers in May 2008!:cool1:

Oh, yeah, we are WESTBOUND! But we do leave from the EAST! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

As long as I am on the ship is all I care about - east or west!

okay, okay...i messed up...but i edited and corrected already!!!! :rotfl2: so all WESTBOUND PC Cruisers in May 2008 are invited to lunch at Lumiere's on Thursday, May 17th at noon....kids are welcome because it will be nice for some of them to know they will be cruising together too....

it's those kind of memories we like ot have with these trips...when i was younger my parents would always take us to the lake for weekends and vacations...when i was little and could not say my "L"s i would always ask my older sister "Yinda, yet's go the yake!" my family still teases me about that...also while we were at the lake we would play penny ante poker....when i would wake up before the crack of dawn i would count my pennies into a cup one by one (starting over serveral times when i lost count!) and would wake everyone up!!! i get teased about that too!

My goodness, is this officially the most pages posted over a two day period? I don't recall, but I only missed yesterday since I joined the boards in February, and it took me an hour to catch up on them all. I'm not sure I can even remember all the postings to reply to.

First off--great job on the cool fish extender that I last saw posted! Whoever said they weren't on the creative end, well, I'm in the same boat. Although I must say, I am pleased with our "magnet a day" door signs. We'd never made them before, and just did some simple print shop stuff on the computer, but we like the way they came out. Also, like Erik, we have personalized them with a small photo and our names on each of the magnets, so hopefully they won't get stolen.

On that note--Hadley, I think it was you who was worried about being DISowned for not having the Cafe press shirts. We don't have them either--we did a little experimenting with iron on transfers and came up with some one of a kind castoff day t-shirts. Not perfect, but good enough.

Appetizers and Desserts--couldn't even think offhand. Prior to sailing, we would scour reviews of DCL every chance we got. I recall seeing many reviews where the food wasn't the best in the cruise industry. Well as far as we're concerned, it's amazing, and gourmet in our book! I order at least 2 desserts every night too! I love the Palo souffle, but am really hoping for the chocolate slipper and this infamous unbrulee this time as well.

I know there's tons I've missed, but I wanted to check in and say hey. Only 14 more work days for us, 2 more haircuts, two more paychecks, and 11 days off to go! Have a good night folks!
Chris and Rob

I don't know if I am going to be on much over the next few weeks, but I wanted to wish everyone safe travels on the Repo! I wish I was going with you all since the last Repo was such a blast! Have a great time, take lots of pictures, and come back safe!

Brian!!!!!!!! I will miss you! Who else would I sleep with..... on the atrium floor!:rotfl2: And I bought a big girl camera :) But nothing like the "Big one"

:yay: Ta-Da! My first Fish Extender!

Yes... you would be surprised and the little gifts that may appear :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

I love it!

My mom's here so I don't have much time to post. I've been keeping up, but only just. 5 pages today, wow!

Our docs came Friday along with my new washer and dryer! I've been without since January. :scared1:

I'm thinking about the scrapbooking thing, it sounds fun, but I'm not sure I want to commit.

Air is all booked now. We arrive Orlando late on the 9th, so we will be able to attend Scott and Lynn's wine event. Oh, yeah, and cheese. Two adults, three kids.

Now I just need to make some hotel reservations. We are flying EasyJet to London from Barcelona and don't fly out of London until Tuesday. I think we will be renting a car there, too.

Have a great day!

Lori

Cynthia--Aweosme fish extender:) I am satrting to feel pretty pathetic with my plastic dollar store shower caddy extenders. But my sewing machine is in need of repair and I don't want to hand sew one (at least that is what I am telling myself right now).
I don't think I will have time to make a fish extender either. How about I just put some Mickey stickers on a gift bag and hang that from the fish?

You may have an idea there! One of a kind and if it walks away you aren't out much $.

Fish Extenders look great!!! KEWL!!!

“YES! I knew my memory was not that bad. Did you have one of the Diver Dan bathtub toys?

I think I fit that growing older but not up description too. Much to Lee's dismay. ”

Nope didn’t have the toy. And yes also to Lynn’s Dismay….

Ahhhh Unbrulee..... it was this pink colored mush thing that missed the mark, I forget what flavor it was supossed to be. I think it was billed as a strawberry brulee, I don't think anyone who ordered it finished it.

Two more haircuts? A piece? or one for each of you? Do you really cut your hair every week?! That would certainly make up for the fact that I haven't really cut mine in nearly 4 years!!! :rotfl2:

Doesn't look anything like the creme brulee that I had almost every night. I will be sure and not order any strawberry brulee!

I have to confess, the fish extender project was the perfect excuse to buy a new sewing machine! ;)
"cquick" gets a huge thanks for the instructions on how to make it. :teacher: :wave2:
I also found this iron on transfer stuff that you use in your ink jet printer. My best friend makes all her vacation t-shirts using it. The designs are all from disney planning guides, past cruise print materials, and the compass rose is from the magnets they are sending out for this cruise. :rolleyes1

I had the same thought exactly. Then David pointed out that he pulls out the clippers and makes me trim his about that often (goes to the Barber shop about once a month for the real thing). Now I actually have a trim scheduled for tomorrow. First time since September they've seen me:hippie:

Chris--Thanks for leting me know we aren't the ONLY ones without the shirts.

The Unbrele really does look pretty icky. Now that glass slipper is right up David's alley (don't care for white chocolate myself).
