Welcome Ruth - don't be shy. My MIL has read the boards, but is still afraid to write. Good job, keep writing and tell us about yourself! Also, I would love a place to meet and play cards and stuff. I meant to put that in my last post, but forgot. Aft 7 is great!

Thanks Padalyn!

you are welcome - I hope they let you practice. They have a classic "older black man" (no offense intended here - he really is a great jazz piano player) who plays when the bar is open.

Whilst wandering around the photo posting boards I noticed a note from the moderators - they are asking people to trim their signatures. If anyone wants to know the new rules (effective this past Jan I think) PM me.

Hi, just wanted to pop in and say hello. There is no way that I can even keep up with this thread anymore either.....There is another I can't keep up on.

I had an emergency root canal today. The nerve started to die the last few days and had gotten worse and worse, so it has been a pretty excruciating time. :scared1: I had dental work a few months ago, so I didn't know that is what it was...just figured it had to do with my temporary crown or something.

Even now, its still very tender and painful. I hope everyone else had a better Easter weekend/holiday than I did! I am so thankful it happened now instead of on the cruise. Yikes!

Have a great night everyone. :)

OUCH...

Good luck - it should feel better soon, I hope.

Hello Cupcakes mom! Welcome. I've been getting to know your daughter via e-mail. Can't wait to meet all of you!

Okay, on another note. I guess you guys have convinced me to not get my hair cut on the ship :sad1: I never was in the market to get it colored. I don't want to have to keep that up. I did consider telling my hair dresser that I got it cut on the ship, but really go somewhere else, but that wouldn't be right either. Plus, I'm a TERRIBLE liar! I can't stand the hard sell, either. Huge turn off to me, so that wouldn't go over well. I have no trouble saying no, I just don't want to have to deal with it.

Also, considering the ship doesn't seem to be near full, do we have a good chance of getting a stroller from the ship for shore excursions? I'd rather not have to bring my own stroller because Emily is five, but I know we may want one for all day excursions that include even minimal walking. We won't enjoy ourselves if the child gets too tired and we have to carry her or listen to a lot of whining or worse... I've chosen excursions that I think she will enjoy, but kids little legs wear-out faster than adults.

Hello,

I'm travelling with two kids (son, age 10 and daughter, 4) on the east repo cruise May 12. I was just wondering where the kids group is located that was mentioned (organized by a Cindy). I do remember seeing a teen chat thing but I was wondering if there is a discussion thread for parents (travelling with kids) to help kids have a great start to the cruise/meeting peers.

My son had a teacher who was a kids counselor on a cruise ship and spoke fondly of the experience (and of seeing the Disney cruise ship go by) so my son is willing to check out the Ocean Lab.

Thx!

Hey all...FYI...I got some more info about the little gift being sent out. According to the rep at DCL that my TA talked to....the gift being sent out is a CASTAWAY CLUB gift and is not related to this cruise...the fact that some people have gotten them is a coincidence. She also said that they are all scheduled to be mailed to all Castaway Club members by early May which means that some of us, indeed, may not get our gifts til after we get back from the trip. We DO, however, have a "very nice" gift to look forward to in our rooms when we board the ship.

:tigger:
Erik

Thanks for this. As we're in the UK originally we were told we wouldn't get a Castaway Club card but now they're saying we will so hopefully it will come with this.

There is a full grand piano in the Jazz type bar - not sure of the name off hand - head toward the clubs and stay to the left - it is at the end of the hall.

Sessions I believe. There's also one in the Promanda lounge I think! (Not sure if its still there or not)

I can sympathis with this. Hope you feel better soon and just think about the positive side, at least you got it done before you got on the boat!

Hi Greg,
There is not any seperate thread for the parents to chat. We just mix up our parenting talk into the rest of the chatter on this one:) But, Cindy has set up a kids page on google groups which is accessible by invitation only. The kids have been posting bio pages and chatting with each other there. The younger kids have been posting as well by dictating to their parents. You can PM Cindy, her username is disneycruising, and she'll get you an invite so your kids can join. I do think your son will enjoy the lab activites (which are not always in the lab). DCL does a good job adjusting for the ages (not all little kid things). My daughter is 10 and enjoys the activities.

:flower3: Here is a little flower being delivered to you Michelle. Yikes, that sounds like an awful way to spend any day, much less Easter. I hope you are feeling all better very soon (and so glad it did not happen in the middle of the Atlantic).

:flower3: And one for Erik. Losing your pictures must be so terrible. I would be miserable if that happened to me. So sorry.

Good Morning everyone! One day closer!

Well guess what I discovered over the weekend. That I booked my ticket home from Paris for the wrong day!!:scared1: :scared1: It was booked for Sunday. Which would have meant I would have been in Paris for about 14 hours.

So I called this morning and for a total of $150 for the both of us I was able to change the flight to Tuesday. Originally planned for a Monday return, but since I was changing it, gave us a bit more time at DLP! Now to call DLP to change our reservations.

Have a good day everyone!

Debbie

Debbie--Good thing you caught that booking error now, and GOOD thing the change fee was not that bad. And, now you get an extra day at Paris--so it seems to have all worked out for the best in the end!:goodvibes

We had asked our TA to book us a trip to WDW as soon as the free dining plan became available (I was origianlly worried it would come out while we were on the cruise). David says we had a "put" option on a vacation:rotfl: Anyway, she just emailed em and we have the dates and hotel we wanted (POP) for September :woohoo: So, I am feeling muxch better about having to forgo the parks this trip if I know I get 9 days in Spetember (and free dinign again--LOVE THAT:love: ) And now that MArika is 10 it is worth even more (and works for us--I ate some of her kids meals last year so she could have some "real" food, Rio on the other hand will want kids meals until he's 50).

Off to Target now to bargain hunt:rolleyes1

Hi again all - had a great weekend in south Florida - beautiful weather and a nice visit with Mike's family.

BTW - those of you interested in a bit of info on Barcelona...it's the featured city in Delta's Sky magazine for April...http://www.delta-sky.com/

Erik - sorry to hear about the hard drive crash...hope that Co. in NJ can recover some of it. We get the motorized EVCs for Mike's mom at the parks...it's $30 rental + $10 deposit per day...and if you go from one park to another in the same day it's tranferrable...just show your receipt and get the ECV at the next park when you arrive. They move as fast as most people walk - never had them lagging behind. They do get special treatment on the rides and sometimes get to go in backstage- they take the whole party. Haunted Mansion at MK is a cool one to do the wheelchair access on. ;) I don't know about the DVC rates or anything for those.:confused3

407-wdw-dine is great - they can even recommend some places that you may not have tried before too. Some of my faves: Hana @ Polynesian + Cinderella's Royal Table @ MK + California Grill @ Contemporary + LeCelier @ Epcot (Canada) - not necessarily in that order, but all very nice!!:thumbsup2

No snow sticking here - flurries yesterday...quite a good reason to run off to FL for the weekend!!

Back to work today - need to get going....took hours to get caught up from the weekend. :scared1:

Hello,

How do you search for a member who has posted? I did a search for 'disneycruising' so I could send a PM about kid stuff and the search came up empty. I clicked on Members List and it said it was disabled...

Once again, a big thank you to all who keep posting little golden nuggets of info and tips as our cruise planning gets underway.

Eventually I hope to have something of value to share :)

Is Mother's Day during our sail or is it a week before?

Welcome all you new commers to this crew of crazies ( I mean that as a good thing)....

Back to the salt mines...

Michelle, youch!!!! do get better..

Our weather over the weekend was yechy, cold cloudy snow. Lynn suggested we pack.

I printed out a map to use to plot our course as we cross the Atlantic.

Looks like a week of chasing paper here for me at work... yeck

The problem here is that you've been going to the same person for so long - it does make it much harder. It was easy for me because I'd only been there once! You could just tell him you're growing it out for awhile.

I don't know if they have stroller rental. We bought the lightweight collapsable carry along MacLaren at one of the outlets a couple of months ago. Our DD turns 4 this weekend, so we didn't want to buy a new stroller since she's close to outgrowing it. But you're right it a tired child or carrying a child is exhausting for everyone. So, we finally decided to buy one that was the lightest weight we could find, it goes over the shoulder and folds in seconds. Still didn't want to pay the money for one more thing. :sad1:

Michelle, where did you find a dentist on Easter? I hope you feel better, I know that awful feeling.

A quick question about kids "Stuff" - what is the age range we are working with?

3-12?

I know 2 years ago their were strollers available on the Magic. I haven't heard anything about that recently (though I haven't been looking either.) I'd call DCL and see if they still do this. I am bringing a small umbrella stroller for DD3. One thing to note, some European cities (I know about Rome specifically) are not stroller/wheelchair friendly. The old part of town was all cobblestone, and I don't remember seeing curb cuts any where. Also, there are steps pretty much everywhere. If you do have a stroller, make sure it is light. You will be lifting it quite a bit. Kelly, your stroller sounds perfect.

Michelle, so sorry on the route canal:headache: - ouch! Several years ago I ended up with emergency root canals on Christmas eve & valentine's day after having two crowns done, so I can feel for you. Almost immediately after the root canals though everything felt great! Thank goodness this happened now and not on the ship!

KaptainJack, search back for a post from disneycruising on this thread (She posts regularly, so you shouldn't have to go back more than a few pages.). Then click on her username for the dropdown menu. One of the options is send a PM to this person. Select that and you are good to go.

I'm off today to look for Easter clearance dresses for older DD's so they will have something to wear for the dress up nights.:woohoo: With 2 older sisters and 2 older cousins, DD3 has more clothes than the rest of us put together:rolleyes1 . I could get all of her packing done today with 14 different outfits and it wouldn't make much of a dent in her closet:rolleyes1 :rotfl2: .
