Maybe we could just have a place where people could show up and if there are enough people hanging around, maybe get a game together. Places that come to mind are Diversions, Promenade lounge, and deck 7 aft. Sort of a designated DIS hangout for people that are looking for other DIS people and something to do?

I vote for Deck 7 aft! But I also like the other suggestions. The reaon I like Deck 7 secret deck is because my room is right next door, and I cna put Patrick to take a nap and then play BUNKO or EUCHRE or anything!

Now it doesn't matter so much since we have our younger son, Mike along to help us.

Speaking of Miike, he just transferred all the files I need on my laptop from my desktop. He used his USB flashdrive.....I sure wish I knew computer stuff! Then the Quicken wouldn't work right, and i got a headache trying to figure it out. He came in and re did it (even though he doesn't even use Quicken) and now it's ALL THERR! OH, how I wish I had grown up with a computer!

Oh and happy Easter!!!

To answer some questions that I remember randomly!!!

Passports - my friends check was cashed 3 weeks ago and it showed up online 2 weeks ago. She still hasn't gotten her passport. It has been 8 weeks since she applied. When she applied she was told 4-6 weeks. She did try calling and the recording says if it isn't 2 weeks before you leave, hang up and wait. We are hoping that since they are saying 10 weeks to process, that she will get it in two weeks. If not, then we hit the 2 weeks before we go and can call and try and get something expedited!!

Wheelchairs - I do know that you can pay for the rental at one park, save the reciept and use it to get a chair at each park without paying more money on the same day. Also, the carts are pretty fast and will be better than carrying her on your back. Also, when you get the cart, ask if you need to get a handicapped pass for her. When you go to take her on certain rides they will have different access for handicapped folks. It is kind of neat to go in the back way on some of the rides. Some people abuse the privledge so be nice about it, and ask the cast members on the rides what the policy is for handicapped guests and what you need to do to get her on the ride. Some people demand front of the line privledges and that does nothing but make everyone mad. Sometimes the policy is to have non-handicapped guests go through the regular queue and then when they reach a certain point, they handicapped guest joins them and they go throught the handicapped entrance. Oh, DO NOT HANG HER PURSE OFF THE BACK!!! Hang it off the front where you can keep an eye on it!!! Hanging it off the back is just asking for trouble and for it to be stolen!

Sinking ships - I am not worried about the Magic sinking. I think DCL hires people who are far more experienced at their job. The Captain of the Greek ship is now claiming that they currents are at fault and he couldn't control the ship properly...hmm, amazingly the smaller ships did ok getting out to the big ship and rescuing people. Also, if you saw the pictures and how close that ship was to land...me thinks someone totally blew it!

Hope everyone has a nice Easter!!!

I like the idea of having an area to hang out in and to strike up games. Someone had posted ealier that they liked Spades. I LOVE Spades. I haven't played in years, of course and I can't keep things in my head anymore -- they leak out -- but I'm sure I'd remember with I few reminders!

I like to play games, but I haven't commited to any just yet because I don't know what I'm going to "feel" like doing on the ship. I have my morning planned. Do my Bible studies first thing, then workout, clean up, then breakfast, but after that I was planning on doing whatever feels good. And that could be sitting by the pool (drink in hand - and yes, I do realize that might be 9am! :rotfl: ) reading or quilting. Or it might be doing the wine tasting or Martinis, I think someone said. Or it might be hanging out with the kids or all of you.

Having a common area would be great! Although it's been too long since I've been on the ship to suggest or say yea or nea (?) to a place.
;)

I like games, too, but really don't know what the 2 year old and the husband will have mind for me. I'm not bringing quilting, but will have my knitting for the daytime. I expect everyone will find me most days by the baby water area, knitting in hand, icecream and french fries by my side. Heaven.:cloud9:

Wow. Not many of you spending time hunting for eggs today I see--all too busy posting. It has taken me an hour to catch up! We are having a white Easter like so many others (but not as white as Passover was for us). We are impressed with that wise Easter bunny who filled the baskets with many things we can use for the trip like new sunglasses, Disney T-shirts, new water color sets, toothbrushes and good plane toys. How did he know?

First off, thanks to all of you for the kind words about Marika (and Erik how nice of you to compliment me and David). Everyone here is so NICE.

Welcome to any newcommers I may have missed. To the person with a shy and artsy DD9 (sorry, I had too much to catch up on to remember who posted this), Marika is pretty shy around other kids (talks adults ears off) as well and spends tons of time on deck with her sketch pad and water colors--maybe they will hit it off. This is our first experience with the kids meeting new friends BEFORE the cruise and we are LOVIN' it. They are so excited about these kids and I do think it will make such a differenc in how the shy types react to the clubs. Cindy, thanks again for getting the kids group up and running.

Erik--Good luck on getting your niece for the week. What a great experience that would be for you. Someone else mentioned the passport issue earlier. Hank and Jan's friends who booked last weekend applied for expedited passports last Monday and were told it is taking four weeks even with the expiditeing so if you have to apply do so Monday as that is cutting it very, very close. Oh, and Rio wants you to know Breakfast at Crystal Palace is his favourite WDW meal (we always prebook everything--you can always cancel if you need to. Also ,we found if we are hungry earlier than the ressie and show up and they know we have a ressie later in the day, they will seat us ahead of just a walk in!).

I really like the idea of having a designated hang out spot (I can't remember who posted it, but it is great). Deck 7 sounds perfect to me, but I am open to whatever (if the weahter is yucky we can have in indoor alternate--but we are all using our yucky weather karma now--right?)

I'm sure I am missing a bunch of stuff. I was overloaded with info as I read.

Let's all think spring why don't we?

Sinking ships--okay, superstitious me...I think the ocean is a mighty and powerful thing and I will never say that I am not worried because of the "knowledge of the crew or the sturdiness of the ship." That's what they all said on the Titanic:eek: . I think a little humility  and respect for the sea and the fragility of our eentsy boat will enourage the mighty cruise Gods above :) to smile down :wizard: on my tiny partying self  and allow me 14 gleeful days aboard. Any mishaps might shorten our cruise and that would just be wrong. ;)

This is not meant to be disrespectful on Easter Sunday. I, too, am celebrating this sacred holiday.

Wonder if we will see any of the America's Cup boats as we pass Valencia???

Just a heads up so you can avoid disapointing a little one when you board. I have read that the Wonder now has a spray scape area for the little ones. Are you aware that the Magic does not have this? Non potty trained children may play in one of Mickey's ears, but this is the only water area for them on the Magic at this time (unless I have missed hearing about a very recent change). Hopefully you already knew this, but I wasn't sure form your post, and I know with my kids it is much better to prepare them in advacne for any change like that (especailly when they were littler).

I have been praying for this one! Since we are missing the tennis, the cycling, the F1, man would I like to see the America's cup fly by.

Hey all...FYI...I got some more info about the little gift being sent out. According to the rep at DCL that my TA talked to....the gift being sent out is a CASTAWAY CLUB gift and is not related to this cruise...the fact that some people have gotten them is a coincidence. She also said that they are all scheduled to be mailed to all Castaway Club members by early May which means that some of us, indeed, may not get our gifts til after we get back from the trip. We DO, however, have a "very nice" gift to look forward to in our rooms when we board the ship.

:tigger:
Erik

Ehhhh.. I don't think so. It was sent to my TA and she would only get things related to this cruise.

So maybe there is a Castaway Club gift coming, in addition to this gift.

we haven't gotten anything at all - I guess NJ really is the land of make believe...could someone please PM me with exactly what this thing is - since we are completely in the dark here - DCL has messed up the addresses left and right on this reservation (typical for Disney)

I don't even want to begin to explain the mess of the ABD trip in Sept...they have lost all our paperwork 3 times so far, and have lost my payment as well...ugh.

Andy and I are diving on the repo (and first med, but that's a different forum).

We've booked in Tenerife. Two tanks, lunch, and a diver-appropriate land tour (nothing above 300 feet.) for 150 euros/person (includes tanks and weights). (We're bringing everything else, but they have rentals.)

We're looking in Cadiz.

Other certified disboarders are welcome. PM us (charwac1) if you're interested.

Better yet, would someone please post it? I know the origial idea was for it to be a surprise, but as many of us still have not gotten it (and may never)and have no idea just how importsnt it is and thus if we should bug DCL or not really care, it would be great to know what we are missing (is there any real info with it, just something cute, etc).

But then, that would ruin the surprise.:rotfl2:

We haven't received ours yet, either, but since someone mention looking for a metalic surface after receiving theirs, *I* assumed it was a magnet or something like that. I wanna know!!!

Thanks for the info about the baby water area, Hadley. I wasn't aware, but I don't think he'll mind, as long as there is somewhere to get wet. He'd be happy to just stay and play in the bathtub here at home, fo that matter!

Anyone know if there is a place where I can practice my piano or are the pianos verboten? I can't imagine two weeks w/o a piano. I may go through withdrawals.:scared1:

I am trying to log on to the med list with the people's names and room #s on it. I can not pull it up. Is it just me or has anyone else had a problem?
