The Disney surprise is 4 large size magnets. It isn't a fantastic gift but I thought it was nice of Disney to do it. This is my 3rd Disney cruise and I had never gotten anything from them before. It came in a little brown box. A nice note inside said they were looking forward to our journey. It didn't say anything about Castaway Club. One magnet is a map of our journey. Another is helpful things we need to do before leaving (ex: have passport), the third is about our ports of call. The last magnet is spanish phrases that we can use when we are in port (this magnet I'm using to practice my Spanish). I'm sorry everyone hasn't gotten their magnets. Keep checking your mailboxes.

Welcome Ruth - don't be shy. My MIL has read the boards, but is still afraid to write. Good job, keep writing and tell us about yourself! Also, I would love a place to meet and play cards and stuff. I meant to put that in my last post, but forgot. Aft 7 is great!

I'll second that. I mostly read the boards and only post every once in a while. The people on the board are great! Make an effort to attend the dis-meet when you get onboard and wear your dis-name tag and lanyard- it's how we know eachother as disboards. There are alot of things to do with different diser's so see what you like and join in- you won't be sorry. We have some great friends as a result of the disboards. Alex

Happy Monday everyone! (...although isn't that kind of an oxymoron for everyone except for Scoobypop....for whom Monday is the first day of his weekend?:lmao: )

Thanks to everyone for your condolances in the loss of my hard drive. It was traumatic...but I've already moved on. "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger" Said Olympia Dukakis' character in 'Steel Magnolias' :rotfl2: :rotfl2: We're rebuilding my data slowly...downloading my music again, uploading my cd's....and luckily most or all of our favorite pictures from our vacations were not only in my computer but we also had printed (either prints we made at home or at a photo development spot OR professional prints we bought in parks and on the boat) and framed or hung (we have a whole wall in our basement that is painted with that "magnetic paint" and we have covered it with 4"x6" prints from our trips). So Jason and I are going to begin a process of scanning all those images into the computer and rebuilding our digital database of our pictures. It'll be a lot of work, sure....but once this trip is over I won't be spending my time making ridiculously large fish extenders and pirate costumes and stuff....so it'll give us something to do! :dance3:

Anna, I got that handy stroller at your outlet mall! When I went into the store I said, "I need a stroller that collapses quickly, goes over lots of cobblestones and stairs and can easily be carried up lots of stairs." She pointed to this one immediately. She can't really sleep in it, but her sleeping during the day would be a miracle.

Hey Lori - my daughter enjoys talking to David but she has been busy with school. I think they are meeting by the pizza stand. I am also bringing my Bible and hoping to work out, so if you need a buddy - I am there. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It went by way too fast, but I did take Darrell cruise shopping and that was successful.

Please let your daughter know that David chats through me and I have been pretty busy. (It's hard to keep up with this thread, let along the kids chatterings.) Anyway, let her know that David will be responding soon, as it is spring break and we should find the time to sit down together.

Working out together sounds great, Roserea is up for it too! We'll just have a little party in the Fitness Center! :woohoo:

Thanks for sharing! Maybe this week we will get ours. I collect magnets. And I could really use one with Spanish phrases! :rolleyes1

Have a great day everyone!

Sessions I believe. There's also one in the Promanda lounge I think! (Not sure if its still there or not)

Sessions may be difficult to get into for piano time. They can lock the doors when the lounge is closed. You might do better in the Promanade lounge as it is more open. There was a piano on the Wonder when we recently cruised, hopefully the Magic has one too. Alex

I forwarded Nanaguide's post to my TA so she could "confront" the cast member who told her that it was a Castaway gift and not a Repo gift.....clearly that CM didn't have all the info.

Ha! I was right--magnets!!! I love being right!!!!:dance3: Thankfully, I can live without magnets. I'm sure I'll never receive them here with our trusty mailman!!!

Ouch to both the root canal and the hard drive crash! Been through both and not sure which is worse - one hurts until you get it fixed and the other hurts once you realise you can't get it fixed! I feel for both of you!

Erik - I ended up taking all my pics to Wal Marts photo shop and they had everything on a disc by the next day. It saved me a lot of time and I had a permanent backup.

Scott - have you managed to get a copy of the "float plan" for the crossing or are you just drawing a line on a map? Would also be curious to see it!

Regards,
Greg

Two quick questions before I take off for work...

1. Where can I find laundry tablets (for doing wash onboard) plus how many quarters will I need...

2. Is using a surge protector (to have access of mulitple outlets) safe to use onboard.
If I'm not mistaken, there is only 1 outlet in the cabin, and we need outlets for laptops, camcorder, and other stuff.

Thanks and have a great day everyone!!!

We never get anything up here either.
Glad we can complete the cruise docs online!

This board is definitely addictive! Just arrived in Hong Kong after a 14 hour flight and just had to check in before I try and get some sleep! It is nice to be able to wander around without a sweater again! (temp about 22C). Made me think about taking some heavy duty sun screen on the cruise - the glare from the whiteness of many bodies that have not seen the sun for a while might be a sight to behold!!!!

Still wondering if DCL charges a corkage fee and if you can bring your own booze on board?

Rgds:)

Jennifer, we bring a lightweight strip style multiple outlet also - plug it into the dresser area to recharge everything.

You can bring your own booze on board. They only charge a corkage fee if you bring the bottle into the restaurant during a meal - and even then, they are not consistent with the corkage charge - sometimes they will, and sometimes they won't. The corkage charge was $15 the last time we got hit.

Tehcnically they say in the literature that you are not supposed to bring your own beverages. Everyone does, many of us totally openly as carry ons (persoanlly I would never try to sneak anything) and I have never heard of anyone beig told they cannot. It is very, very common to bring your own on DCL. I belive there is a cokrage fee if you have it opened in the dining room. But, if you just want to enjoy it in your stateroom (or take a glass with you as you wander the ship, etc) there is no fee. You can request a corkscrew and glasses for your room host at no charge.

1. Where can I find laundry tablets (for doing wash onboard) plus how many quarters will I need...

I couldn't find laundry tablets this year. But I used old vitamin bottles to pour in liquid and then put them in double zip lock bags. I like the Purex Laundry tablets, but no luck. Not sure on # of quarters, we're bringing a whole bunch!

2. Is using a surge protector (to have access of mulitple outlets) safe to use onboard.

Yes, we always bring one or two of them, we have waaaay too many electrical chargers!

If I'm not mistaken, there is only 1 outlet in the cabin, and we need outlets for laptops, camcorder, and other stuff.

I think there's more than one outlet, but certainly not enough! Some people bring an extenion cord, because the outlet is inaccessible. or inconvenient.
