Friday night in Barcelona the day before debarkation. Everyone except the B2Bers will be packing. Perfect night for a POC Premier party.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me! And welcome to Hksilverfox. I was excited before I found the board and now I am REALLY excited about the cruise. I wanted to let Hopemax know that I live by the old Rawhide, but off of Tatum. Are you leaving on Thursday or Friday for the cruise - maybe I will catch you at the airport. Sorry to hear about the man-o-war. They make jellyfish look like whimps. Hope everyone is feeling better.

Central Florida is wonderful if you like wild life. Every morning we wake to flocks of Turkeys and Sand Cranes. Like misseulalie we are surrounded by natural areas and we have a Fox, Two Bart Owls in the stable, a family of River Otters, Alligators, a Bald Eagle, two Falcons, assorted woodpeckers and egrets, a Florida bobcat, deer, possum, armadillos, raccoons, porcupines, skunks and assorted snakes or the poisonous kind.

But the Wild Boar was new one on me. They sound dangerous? Won't they charge humans if they see you?

I have a question for all the women out there - how do you pack for 2 weeks - shoes, clothes, etc.! Are you an outfit repeater? Do you buy tons of clothes? Do you plan on doing wash? Any advice would help. When you have lived in the desert for so long, we don't own warm clothes and casual is usually the way we go.:laundy:

We are actually trying to pack about 10 days worth of clothes and going with the mix and match idea. The weather should be fairly nice (think So Calif) in the ports. We are going with more tops than pants and will probably do a load of laundry. We are trying to pack lightly in two suitcases so we have room to bring back stuff for the families. But it is the dang shoes that keep throwing us a ringer....so many shoes, so little space, and so little weight!!

Ok, for the ladies out there, we had heard that the products were really good but we wondered if we could get along on them or if we needed to bring our own stuff, and with all the FAA and weight restrictions it is a consideration. I found this set and got it yesterday.

I tried the shampoo, conditioner, body wash & cream tonight. So far, so good. Let me preface this on the hair by saying I have dry coarse, very curly hair, and it does not feel like straw. The body wash and lotion were nice also.

I thought I would include the link so if you wanted to try it before you go, you could and then decide.

I will definately be an OUTFIT repeater, I don't think I can mix and match enough times! But I think we'll be in shorts and Tshirts and swimsuits and coverups during the day. In the evening, you'll just have to get used to seeing me in the same 3 things over and over and over.1 Also I am planning to do laundry.....:laundy:

Also, plan to layer! Sweaters and hoodies should be great. i think the weather will be like Florida in May, quite warm, except the ocean breezes will be cool1

H2O products were on the DVC members cruise in October. They were wonderful! I still plan to bring gel and my frizz-taming stuff. Also, they sell the products at the WDW resorts and someplace else, cheaper, but I can't remember. And you can bring any size bottle of stuff so long as you check it, but not in your carry on. Cool, we are at the 101 & Raintree. We're leaving Friday on a 11:10 flight on Southwest, arriving in Orlando about 8 PM. My parents live down their, so we will be spending the night with them before heading to the coast on Saturday morning.

I'm planning on doing laundry once, for regular clothes. I like the shopping for cute dresses and skirts, so I do plan on having different dinner clothes, at least on top. I'm trying really hard to keep the shoes down. So far I have a pair of black dressy sandals, brown dressy sandals for dinner and the shoes I normally wear in the parks for port days. I am looking for a new pair of "everyday" sandals because last year's pair is trashed. Depending on room, I might bring my everyday walking shoes, but that seems like a lot.

It IS terrible not going to the parks. But, we can only get so much vacation time for David in a block. It would not be cost effective to purchase one day tickets for four for a day when we can't even get there until 2:00 (and OMG which park would we choose? We are firm believers in spending 7-10 days at the parks on a trip). But we will spend as much time on proprty as we can. Whispering Canyon Cafe and OKW wine and cheese party here we come! I really wish there was a special party (like MVMCP or Pirates and Princesses) as we would go and enjoy at least the one park.

Ditto to everything you said! We also have very limited time, or else the B2B would sure be tempting....just not enough TIME. We also try to spend that long in the parks when we go too....it sounds like we do have a support group gathering for all of us sad souls who cannot go.

But we are not getting into Orlando until 9 pm, so we can't even go to any of the precruise meets, so you are lucky to get to do that... On previous cruises we have been able to go to a few parks, or the MVMCP, so I know what you mean.

There are so many posts to reply to - I am going to make comments and hopefully the poster will read them...

Packing - I am only packing for 7 days (as a B2B - I KNOW I have to do laundry). Most are things that will rinse and dry in the room. The little packets of Tide work pretty well.

Bears - I have had 2 personal attacks. I am a wilderness camper and have been chased off my site at 4am twice. This doesn't sound like a big deal until one finds out that the site is boat access only!! Running a quarry lake in the middle of the night is a good way to sink one's "floating money pit"!!!

Dining - has anyone else thought of the fact that many of the excursions return to the ship after the last dining? So, if one has early dining one is eating at Topsiders or Room service a LOT?!?

Kpros - Ken I am going to send your lanyard list to the rest of my group - I think that Mom in law has joined the Dis, but I am not sure.

NYC - for any of the locals - did you get to the expo at Javits this weekend??? We had a BLAST!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend -

Now that we have some new people joining the thread. I've started an information post at the start of this page. Now we can direct new comers to page 143 post 1. If anyone has anything that should be posted, please PM me and I can add your activity or information.

This has worked well in the past (thanks Peter for starting the trend) and helped keep track of all the activities and info.

Ken

Just a note here- I think the page number depends on which view one uses, as well as which order - I find it on page 120, post # 2131.

I use linear, newest first for anyone else who keeps loosing that post (like I do!)

I am not sure which sort one uses to get page 143.

Depending on what type of shoes you are bringing then you can pack inside of them. Undies, socks, personal items and even bottoms to swimsuits if rolled the right way can fit into a shoe. Also if you roll your clothes you can get alot more in a suitcase. And they have those bags that work too. We learned(pre-9-11) to travel for 8 days and 7 nights with 1 carry on. That included 8 outfits, 4 pairs of shoes, 3 bathing suits and all personal stuff. It can be done!!! But since we have to check bags now, we will have 4 bags between us.

Hope everyone had a good weekend -

Please let me know as soon as you can about any changes to the list. I will be happy to remake the name badges, but time is getting short.

Good morning all, I have a sinus infection and a turned disk in my back too! UGH I have too much to do right now to have any interference. I'd like to say it was from a gymnastics move, but I was leaning the wrong way into my passenger side wheel well and heard it pop - Me: UH OH that wasn't good! Good thing I only have two 90 min. lectures - 5 min. from the house this week. But got caught up on some tivo last night (loved Ugly Betty :happytv: - I'm a TV junky) while on a heating pad.

We've just figured out that a opossum is stealing our oranges and strawberries. Our plan was to have a cat door so our cat could come and go for our 5 weeks and now we're not sure that is going to work at all! I've been working my butt off in the yard to have it ready for our departure and he/she is messing with me.

I want to know: what is up with all these people falling off cruise ships this week?

Nanaguide: crackin me up about the shoe bag outside the door:lmao:

If he thinks you're nuts, last time I was sick a few months ago, I made 60 door signs! :surfweb:

My TA is now telling me we will not get Airline info until 30 days out!!?!?! Anyone else hearing this from their TA????

Juliekatie - good idea about the post cruise support group, but I think it already exists, look at how long the threads from past cruises remain. We are still posting on the original Panama Canal cruise thread, and the 11 day caribbean thread. That is our post cruise support group.:rotfl2:

We have several times gone to WDW without going into the parks, when our annual passes have expired and we are not ready to buy new ones yet. If it is only for a day, we spend the time riding the monorail (you can see alot of the flower festival at Epcot from the monorail as it passes over), and Downtown Disney for shopping. We sometimes even go off property to the discount Disney stores for shopping. We console ourselves about not going in the parks with the thought that we will be back for a real WDW trip (12 -14 days worth) in a few months.

Packing - we will be planning to wear outfits more than once, and do laundry on the ship. I am not a shoe person, so I do not have the problem of wanting to take a suitcase just for shoes. On this trip, our problem is that in flying back, we basically cannot have a carry-on other than a small "personal item" (13 lb limit), so the normal big rolling carry on bags will not be in use. We will each have 2 large checked bags, but we are leaving behind the good pirate costumes and going just with pirate t-shirts, and Scott will be paring down his formal wear. I will be doing alot of mix and match shirts with a couple pair of slacks for dining instead of different dresses each night, and will bring only 2 "formal" dresses which will have to do for formal, semi-formal and Palo dining. We do need to save some room in our bags for souvenirs.
