Hi Gydell
Are you living in Atlanta???
This time we are planning to fly in to Atlanta at Aprill the 27th and want to see a little bit of Geargia. Then driving down to Orlando and the port .

Have you any suggestion what to see in Georgia and on the way south???

@ all other's thank you , now we know what you are talking about.

have a nice day

Juergen

Juergen - The aquarium is the largest in the world. If you like history then Fernbank has dinosuars and other artifacts. The High Museum if you likke art. The Cyclerama at Grant Park if you want history of the south. Traveling to Orlando you are on a freeway without alot of things to see. I'll check with me AAA to see what they suggest and get back to you in a few days.

Just started packing last night. Got most of DDs suitcases done. I figure one suitcase per person and 2 suitcases for "stuff" toiletries, laptops, batteries, bottled water.... I am using 2 suitcases that we can leave on the ship (throw out). I am hoping to leave most of DDs clothes behind. I always shop Targets clearance racks; shirts and shorts for 2 bucks! No problems leaving them behind!!!:goodvibes

Has anyone booked private tours on the canary islands. I have ben looking into some them. We would be happy to book with anyone that would lso like to book a private excursion. We were thinking of a 3 hour catamaran and then going to Mount Teide.

Lanyard

lanyard.jpg

This is only an example lanyard. I'm not sure what the one talked about on here will look like.

The lanyards are custom made for this cruise and include a custom made name badge with plastic holder very much like the one in the picture. The name badge holder is the correct size to hold you room key card so you will always know where it is. The lanyards help identify all the people on the cruise list.

While the lanyard teame members have seen the lanyards and name badges, everyone else will have to wait until the first day.

Lanyards will be available in the terminal before boarding and then at the 3:00pm disboard meet on deck 10 overlooking the goofy pool. At that point, if we haven't connected, you will need to contact me to get your lanyard and name badge.

Imagination is everything. It is the preview of lifes coming attractions

Elderfam: you made your own tag come true!!!! I love that phrase so very much!

Good morning everyone!!! Kind of overcast here in Sunny So Calif today. Can't believe that we are getting closer and closer to leaving. I think when I see the flight info and make seat assignments I will feel like it is really real. :goodvibes

Off to Payless for shoes for a wedding and will double for the cruise and no I don't have anything from the last time...really.....I don't....;)

Then we are going to see The Last Mimzy...14 year old DD isn't thrilled but since she keeps getting on the no life program she figures it is better than nothing...although she is trying to convince me that I would rather see the Hills Have Eyes 2....:sad2: not that she got to see the first one....:scared:

Have a good day and try to keep it under 10 pages!!! LOL

OK guys, this is totally off subject but here goes.
My camcorder is about 6 years old and I've been looking at the new
ones that use a hard drive for storage, do any of you have one of these and do you like them?

I bought a mini DVD sony handicam especially for the cruise. I havent' practiced much with it yet.....but it's pretty small. Although the "smart media" ones are even smaller! CQ

Hi folks
As we are from Germany we don't understand some shortcuts you use in the forum. Please tell us what is DD DH DM and so on. And what du you mean with lanyard? If I translate it , it means the garden in front of the house.
But I think you have a different explanation, And sorry if I make to many mistakes.

have a nice day

Juergen

I think you guys are GREAT! All those acronyms are explained on the very first page of the regular DisBoards, not the cruise forums. I know it's confusing...I actually hardly ever use them. DH: Disney Husband or Dear Husband....DS: son DD daughter. A lanyard is a cloth strap that you hang around your neck, they are very common here for retail clerks to wear ( and Disney People ) . they usually have an attached plastic card holder.....on the ship everyone gets one to put their Key to the World in, and people at the parks use them the same way! WE are getting SPECIAL ones JUST for our SPECIAL group! Because WE ARE SPECIAL! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:tink: I want to thank everyone for their warm wishes. We are really excited about our expanding family. :woohoo:
We should find out in the next two weeks if the baby will be a boy or a girl...princess: or pirate: ha ha ha

The baby will be born in florida and we have to stay for 2 weeks until we get permission to take him/her out of state. We decided to stay in a Wilderness cabin. The babys "first" home will be at Disney!

I'm not sure if you have taken us off the lanyard list yet, or if I needed to ask you to. Please let someone else have our spot on the list. It's a great idea and we hope we will be on a future cruise with you!

It is a rain day here so inside thinking of all this stuff, making a day planner, for the trip etc .....And thought I woudl re post this.

For all you new folks etc etc etc ..... .

Hey all,

Just in from gymnastics....rainy icky day here...but I love it as long as it's not snow!!! :)

So what was the verdict on the rubber bracelets? I sent a PM offering to help out with them----do we need to place "orders" for the number in our party? Or will we do it the same as the lanyards were done and order enough to cover the full roster and then maybe a few extra?

I have my lanyard...people are going to love them. Jason and I intend to wear them around DisneyWorld all week before the cruise, too....not only to show THEM off but also to show off to all the people in the parks that WE get to go on this cruise! hehehehe

Jason's mother and his sister live in the Atlanta area...although he doesn't really get down there often to see them. We are going to Atlanta in December, however, for a few days because the National HIV Prevention Conference sponsored by the CDC (based in Atlanta) is being held there. I"m very much looking forward to seeing the aquarium as Jason says it's phenomenal. As you know I am a big zoo, animal park, aquarium freak...I have a stone with my name on it in the walkway at the National Aquarium in Baltimore even!

I think Jason and I might be actually just about done with all the pre-work done----pirate costumes are done, our tuxes are rented and booked and paid for, our excursions are all set, our spa reservations and palo reservations are done----I just need to finish our Mickey Tropical shirts and we're good to go.....now if only May will hurry up and get here!!!!!!! (Although I will say that I haven't even begun to pack or think about packing....despite my 'planning bug' I'm TOTALLY a last minute packer.....we fly to Florida on Friday, May 4th and I'll work a half day on Thursday, May 3rd and then pack all evening and night that night before we leave!! hehehe)

:tigger:

Well just got back from a shopping trip with DW, she is almost ready she just needs to find some shoes and so do I then I am finished. Kids, well since they grew like bad weeds anything that they had now doesn't fit them. Eric the oldest grew something like 1-1 1/2 feet since last summer, even stuff we bought at Xmas is getting too small.

Sorry can't help you with the camcorder, thought about one for the trip but decided to buy a new DSLR and enroll in a class before the trip. So far I am loving the camera.

I have to make a trip to Atlanta to see the Aquarium, that would just be so perfect. I am a marine aquarium hobbiest and I am planning a big salt water for the new house now should, be in for the fall I think. The cruise has got me side tracked a little. We are going to do the aquarium in Barcelona and I am looking forward to that one also.

Canary Islands excursions, we have one booked but might cancel it and jsut do it on our own. Found the Monkey Zoo on the island that looks really fun for the kids, just not sure of how long it will take to get to it from the port. If we do that then might just get a driver to take us around to see some sights then try and hit the market and beach. That is about all we really want to do. Hope we can do it all without the kids complaining too much.

To be honest most of the excursions don't seem to be all that kid friendly, but maybe I missed some that are better for kids, not sure.

We thought about the wine and cheese for Friday night but we are booked at the cape so a little ways for us to drive in so we are going to pass. But thanks for the invite!!

Well time for some steaks for dinner.

Cheers!!

Pat

Got my foreign money today - one more thing done. Does anyone know if there is a tropical night on the ship or is that a rumor? Sure would be nice is DCL would give us a few more details!
