Welcome all the new members of the thread...
Hi my name is Shannon I live in Indiana. I am going with my two children kaylee 8 and Colton 6. My best friend Lori is also going because neither of our husbands could get off of work for that long. I am trying to read all of the pages and get caught up but I'm only on about page 38. I'm so excited, it dosen't seem real that we a really going!!

Hey a fellow Indiana native.:thumbsup2
Good to have someone else from the state.
What part of the state are you? We are western "mid-north".:rotfl:

Welcome Kurt and family!!!:) More Euchre players:banana: Our son was born in West Lafayette--what part of Indy do you live in?

Roserae--see my post about 2 pages back and apply it to little ones as well. We do "dress" for dinner every night. In addition to being fun (and dressy clothes for kids can be had dirt cheap at used stores), I find kids will behave better when they are dressed up and feel it is special.;) However, dress for kids tends to run the gamit as well. I have seen young boys wear long, dressy shorts but not regular shorts on girls or boys (maybe I just didn't notice). Capris are common as are sundresses on little girls. I have seen MANY little girls make good use of their princess costumes wearing them to every meal.

Erik--I'll try to slim back into that dress if you'll be one of THe tuxedoed men carrying me on your shoulders:rotfl: What dining rotation should I request???? ???David and I were SO laughing at that. Too bad I did not have opera gloves died to match that dress! Oh, Rio does love Euchre (still has an annoying tendancy to trump his partner's ace though).

Good idea! we saved lots of baby clothes for teddy bear outfits. Any idea how much they cost? Do they work on the boat?

I am not sure what they did about that in the last drydock - he did not work on the Panama cruise on the Magic, and didn't work last fall on the Wonder. But - he always travels with us - he has a traveling companion (called Bear) who rides with who ever is not carrying Pal. I have found clothes at Christmas Tree Shoppes - none of the bear clothing from Build-a-Bear or the craft shops seems to fit them. They are just under 12" tall too big for neonate, and too little for bear. I did find tuxedos for them, Terry's Village Catalog has quite a collection of bears with outfits that fit them. I gave the naked bears :scared1: to a friend who has numerous foster kids. (the bears with clothing cost 7.00 - I got the outfits - she got the bears!)

Pal runs aroung 80.00 I feel it is worth it, he tells us when parades are starting, about short attraction lines. he tells the corniest jokes and plays simple games (great for kids to keep them occupied - be they big or little :yay: ) Don't be suprised when it feels like he is having a seizure - that is how you find out he wants to say something !!

Our family made the decision that we're coming. I just sent Debbie our information for her web page.

We are - Kurt (me),
Marlea (DW),
Kyan Grace (DD - 3),
Kristopher (DS - will turn 1 in Barcelona).

We live in the DFW metroplex. Marlea is originally from Virginia, and I grew up in Indiana. You can probably tell from my DIS board username that I grew up in Indiana - all you euchre players out there!

Have to run now - I need to go to the store to see if they have the five gallon size of Maalox available to handle the stomach churning of costs and schedule planning.

Good to be here, though!

Kurt

Welcome aboard!!
:welcome:

How ironic that just in the past day or two Hadley and I have talking about whether anyone else out there plays Euchre....I feel some poolside Euchre games coming on! (Of course I"ll have to put Jason into Euchre training camp now---he only learned to play like a year ago and we've only played one or two times with my parents....so he's not that good and if he's gonna be my partner then he's gonna have to bone up! :) )

:tigger:

Well Jason and I are renting tuxedos on the ship to go with our snazzy matching Mickey vests and bowties (not that original since there are limited options for Mickey formalwear available cheap....so others will likely have the same set...but they're cute and that's what counts!)....so certainly we'll be your tuxedoed gentlemen!!

You tell Rio there's nothing wrong trumping the occasional ace...we've all done it at one point or another and sometimes (like when your REALLY rocks) you have no choice....or when you feel the ace won't fly and the person to the left might try to trump it with a lower trump than you've got to throw. Maybe if Rio's a good player we'll ditch Jason and he and I'll partner up and take everyone on! hehehe:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:tigger:

Now that is a loaded question.:lmao:
Maybe more info that we really want to know.

Hey what happened to the What Happens on the Magic/Wonder stays on the magic/Wonder:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

West Lafayette? Does that mean you are Purdue people? KEWL.

Ah Euchre. Have not played for a while, but I still think I remember what not to do.:rotfl2:

That's the way it's supposed to be, but there always seems to be "leaks" out there. :)
As long as you don't FIB to the FBI you are OK.......:lmao: :lmao:

Got new maps etc loaded on both GPS units, ready to go. Added some new maps.

I remember people playing Euchre in college, (undergrad in IN, and yes I understand your Hoosier Histeria).

Raining here this afternoon,

Histeria? Is that a disease, a mouthwash or a drink?:lmao:

Since I think you mean Hysteria, yes it is the mad season right now.

Bob and Lee--Actually David and I both grew up in Boulder, CO and went to CSU in Ft Collins. But, Purdue was a fun campus to hang out on (I used to take the kids to watch the marching band practice). While we lived in Indiana we lived in Lafayette to be near the campus atmosphere. David worked in Frankfort. What part of the state are you from?

Erik--I wonder if you and Jason will match David. He has a Mickey tie and vest which he originally bought for our wedding reception (11 years ago next Friday), but we always see one or two other identicle sets on the ship--I think they still sell them somewhere. I shall have to really try to get into the dress just so I can have my own Mickey tux wearing entourage:) :) :)
If only Rio trumped aces on purpose!!!! Unfortunately he tends to be so excited that he can trump in he forgets to watch what his partner plays:sad2: Maybe we should stick him and Jason together? Better not do that, we don't want to scare Jason away from the game.

......
Lafayette. Almost all of my life. Lee has been here since she graduated. We are both alums.
When our last beagle developed cancer, a member of the CSU vet school did a diagnosis of the x-rays and blood tests. Supposedly that is one of the better vet schools.

Frankfort....didn't work at Frito-Lay did he?(no I don't work there)

Bob and Lee--this is such a small world! David worked at Sonoco-Crellin. We lived in a "new" subdivision just past Meijer on the edge of town (made for quick highway access for David to get to work). Rio was one of the last babies born at St. Elizabeth's before they shut down maternity ward there. Oh and yes, CSU does have a top notch vet school (but I was an English major and David was Industrail Engineering).
