May 11th 2008 ~ Any Double Dippers Out There?

I'm OK with names, just pants with faces. So we might have spoken, exchanged life stories and sworn to be sisters forever but, chances are, the next time you see me I'll look right thro' you as if we've never met! I don't have many friends... :sad2:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yay for the WL!! It will be nice being so close to the MK :cool1:

Hey guys! Hope you had a good weekend - we were languishing on page 3 so just giving us a *bump*... :goodvibes

Holy cow Karen, I just realized you're going on the Magic! You'll absolutely have to let us know what you think about a longer Magic vs. the shorter Wonder. How exciting, is this the one with the Mexican Riviera (we honeymooned in Playacar, lover-ly!) or the Eastern (St. Thomas looks GORGEOUS)?

How in the world were you able to resist going on the Magic while it was in Europe? I really would have loved to do the Transatlantic return cruise, but DH's school gets in the way. But then I saw what the rough crossing created in the pools (who knew DCL had a wavepool?) and boy was I glad we didn't go. Mucho Mucho Mal de Mer.

Can you guys believe I already had a cruise dream? It started out very well. First I dreamed that we'd been upgraded to a suite. Went to the room and it was in the bowels of the ship. The room was huge, but the floors and walls were rusty metal and cobwebby. Despite this sad state, I was a little torn about asking for a new room b/c it also came with a sunken pool! The problem was that I needed to call my room attendant to get goldfish out of it first. There was no balcony but small portholes, and when I looked out the window I realized we were docked inside MK, next to a some kind of yellow submarine ride. An overhead announcement came on saying that the ship would be launching immediately after Wishes. Suh-weet! :thumbsup2

Now I just want to say that I SWEAR I had nothing to drink that night.

Weird, Brandi!!!!:lmao:

I haven't had any cruise dreams yet, but I have them about WDW all the time.

Went down the Jersey shore the other day, and I was in the sun for maybe 2 hours... My face is COVERED with sun poisoning blisters!!!!!:headache:

I doesn't hurt that much, but my face looks like I am a leper or something!!!

I've had to go to a few family parties this week and no one wants to go near me!!!

This is what I want to know...

I go in the sun for 2 hours in Jersey -- I get terrible sun poison..

I go in the sun ALL DAY LONG in Florida for a week and don't get anything!!!!

Would someone please explain this to me!!!!!

Talk to you soon,

Mary Beth

We're going on the Western Caribbean - Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel... Can't believe it's coming around so soon... :cloud9:

Don't know! :confused3 I guess we already had a summer vacation booked and no one else in my family really fancied it! ;)
...Can you guys believe I already had a cruise dream?
Crazy, crazy dream, Brandi! Makes the one I had when I first booked seem quite sane ! All I can recall is that we had to board the ship via a raft and the interior was just like the Grand Floridian! Oh and we bought the dogs with us... :lmao:

That sucks, Mary Beth! :sad2: Sending you a  and hope your skin improves asap!

And now I've got to say goodbye to you all! :wave2:

I'm off to Spain tomorrow with my family for just over 3 weeks and I'm pretty certain internet access opps will be limited tho' I'll try and check-in now and again. Take care of yourselves and I look forward to catching up with you all soon... :grouphug:

How wonderful! ¡Buen viaje! We'll miss you, but can't wait to see some pictures :thumbsup2

Ouch, sun poisoning! Just tell people you've developed an allergy to housework and can no longer be exposed to it. ;)

Maybe you just were unlucky and hit one of those freakishly high UV index days? All I know is that the weather has been WEIRD all over. We've had droughts forever, and suddenly this summer..boom...rain almost every day. I'm turning into a frizzy prune. And out west their baking to a crisp. My MIL in Yuma was telling us it was 118 the other day. 118?!?! Can you even imagine?! And I thought Texas was hot!

Hope your blisters heal okay. :goodvibes

Karen:

ANOTHER trip!! Have fun, be safe, and talk to you soon.

Thanks for the well-wishes, girls!!! Here's hoping these things go away soon. I have a wedding to go to on Saturday and I am hoping that they go away by then. Don't think the family will believe the "allergic to housework" story. It's worth a try, though!!!

Brandi:

I was wondering if you were in the middle of all that rain. Be careful out there!!

I'm going to New York next week to visit my brother. He lives in Manhattan and, although I love my brother very much, I can't wait to go to the World of Disney store there!! 3 FLOORS of Disney merchandise!!

I'm not OBSESSED, am I?:rolleyes1

Talk to you later,

MB

Ooooooh, that's definitely a dangerous, dangerous place to go. Well just be sure to get plenty of sleep the night before, eat a healthy breakfast, and stay hydrated. That level of shopping isn't for sissies or the faint of heart.

Can you believe I've never been to New York? Actually, I've never even been to the northeast! I know DH would really like to visit NYC, but I'm a little askeered. I survived mass transit and the homeless guy that jumps out at tourists at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, but NYC seems like a whole other level of frenzy...and people more likely to mock me for my sensible shoes. :lmao:

Hope you're healed by the wedding!

Brandi:

Believe it or not, I haven't been to NY that much myself. My aunt took me there as a birthday surprise when I was 10 years old. It wasn't until I was in my late 20's that I went back with a few girlfriends to see the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Very nice. The next time I went was when my brother first moved there and it just happened to be our 10th anniversary. My brother and his GF took us to this very hoity-toity fancy restaurant in the AOL Time Warner building in Columbus Circle. Now, I'm not the type of person to talk about how much things cost, but dinner for 4 people....550 dollars!!!! My brother thought this was great!!! I almost had a heart attack!!!!! Bro is used to dining like this!! He works for a very prestegious law firm and wines and dines clients all the time. Clearly, he needs to be sat down and told the benefits of the DDP!!!!!:rotfl2:

The last time we were there was last year. We took DS to see The Lion King on Broadway. Beautiful show. I cried my eyes out. It's worth it to go to NY just to see that show.

Now, as I said before, planning to go back next week. We are going to visit my bro, but we all know the REAL reason why I'm going, don't we?:rolleyes1

Take care,

MB

I know someone who just booked this and didn't realize it was Mothers Day...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: I wonder what her mother will say...:rolleyes1

Hello May 2008 double dippers!!::banana:

I just booked last night for a 15th anniversay cruise May 11, 2008, and I just wanted to pop in and say Hello!!:cool1:

We've cruised DCL once before in May 2004 and LOVED it!! I can't believe how excited I am to cruise again, especially twice to CC (what a dream!!). This 4-day will hold me over until the BIG ships come out. I will definitley rebook while onboad next year and try to push the ressie over until we reach 2011. Do you think this can be done?!!

Maria:goodvibes

Welcome. Maria!!!

This is my first time cruising ever!!!

I don't know anything about booking on the cruise, but if I like it, I'm sure I'll be looking into it.

Take care,

Mary Beth

YAY new cruisers! Welcome!!

Sorry I've been incommunicado, my mother was visiting :rolleyes1

I'm really starting to get desperate about having nothing new to plan for the trip! I've reached that stage where we're too far out to get some news that would help us plan (2008 rates, park hours, etc), but too far in to not have already finished my tentative plan. As that commercial says, I feel like I've reached the end of the internet and must turn back. Nothing else to research on WDW/DCL...for now! Need a planning fix ;) I'm jones'ing here!

So did anyone else pick up the last Harry Potter? DH and I went to see the OOTF movie, which was over at midnight, then I shot right over to pick up my book. I started reading at 12:30 am, by 6:30 am I was nodding off on the couch, so finally gave into a little sleep. Started reading again at 11:30, and by 3:30 pm was done. Very tired, very teary. But SO worth staying up to find out what happened. While I think Rowling could have cut out 100-200 pages during the first half of the book, I think she did a beautiful job of finishing the series. I won't say anything else, except that at one point DH came in, and asked in an alarmed voice, "What's wrong? Are you okay?!" b/c I was sobbing hysterically with my hands over my face. But I waved him off, saying, "I'm fine, go away, I have to keep reading!" :rotfl: Now THAT'S a good book!

Brandi,

I was starting to get worried!

Hope your visit with your mom was enjoyable.

I know what you mean about not having anything to plan right now. What I'm doing right now is loading up on supplies from work to bring on the cruise. I could really go crazy. The new adult line just came in. Oh boy! The only problem is that there isn't much for those of us over a size 12..:confused3

There are some cute things for DH, though.

I'm not into the Harry Potter thing so I can't comment on that.

Hope you're having fun reading!!!!

Talk to you soon,
MB

Hi ladies - just checking in. Been out of touch for while, just busy at work, and we went to Corpus Christi for the weekend. Nothing like the good ol' brown water and seaweed at the Texas coast. Makes me long for turquoise water and golden sands of the Caribbean. Will it ever get here??!! :hourglass

Hope everyone has a great week!

Nothing like the good ol' brown water and seaweed at the Texas coast.

:rotfl2: Boy isn't that the truth! I really wish they'd stop allowing cars on Port Aransas/Mustang Island beach - I keep waiting to hear some poor family was run over :( But I have to say sometimes I think about going down there just to get some fresh shrimp. Mmmmmm. Did you take the sunset boat tour?

BTW I just saw a website for a cute hotel in Rockport. Can't personally vouch for it, but it seems to get good reviews, and the pictures look nice. Lemme know if you want the link.

I actually have a funny story about Port Aransas. I am..well, a novice beach person. We didn't travel when I was a kid, except to Lake Texoma. The first time I ever saw a real beach was when my high school band took a side trip from Orlando to Daytona :thumbsup2 Sooooo....the first time I went to Port Aransas was really the first time I had to pack up my own cooler. Once there, I happily pulled out a sandwich and chips. I saw a few gulls nearby, and I threw a handful of chips into the air. Suddenly a million gulls came out of nowhere and started swooping and hovering about a foot above my head. I'm shrieking and LITERALLY trying to dig sand out from under the car so I can crawl under it. All I could think about was "The Birds" and an eyeball-missing Suzanne Pleshette. My boyfriend was down at the water, staring out to the sea, completely oblivious...as they so often seem to be ;)

Hmmm, if I keep this up I may run out of stories before our trip is here!

Naaah...that will never happen ;)

:rotfl: The Birds - you make me laugh Brandi! I kept telling my son DO NOT throw any food at the birds - as a matter of fact DO NOT EVEN LOOK at those birds!! You never know right??!!

You know, I never saw the Texas coast either until I was like in my early 20s - my then-boyfriend (now dear-husband) took me for the first time and I was like - hmm why does everyone make such a big deal about this?? Then I went to Hawaii with a girlfriend and I was like "Now THAT'S a beach!" It was so cool when my husband and I went on our first cruise together - he had never seen beaches so beautiful as the Caribbean. My son I guess is jaded because at the age of 4 - he's already been to Hawaii and the Caribbean. No wonder he wasn't thrilled with Padre Island. Oh well.

I'd appreciate that link to the hotel in Rockport when you have a chance, we're always looking for new places to try - and we're -hopefully - buying a new car tomorrow - so my husband's gonna want to take a road trip again soon! Thanks!
