Hello Everybody

I am very shattered today. I had been working two nightshift and one more tonight. I cannot face it I phoned my boss few mins ago and he beg me to come tonight and give me 2 hours off. Because it was very hard work for me and my leg, feet, knee and my back was very painful as heavy workload because too much festival foods for Christmas.

I am glad to work for 6 hours tonight then off until 27 Dec.

Oh Deborah, I hope you're able to get some rest on your days off!

Hope you got some rest Holly. I always find that when I can't sleep, and so start reading, that I keep nodding off. So I put the book down, but then I can't sleep again :confused3

Kathe
Nope, no rest yet. I didn't go back to sleep for that 1/2 hour this morning because I remembered other things I had to do before work. Just got home from work about an hour ago because I was allowed to work a full day (GREAT NEWS!), then had to go to the bank to cash my bonus check (MORE GREAT NEWS). I have direct deposit for my paychecks, but they don't do that for the bonuses because they print those checks right in the office, where the payroll goes to an offsite accountant. Then I went to buy stocking stuffers for Tyler, then a stop for dinner.

I'm hoping they'll let me work a full day tomorrow too. Our receptionist had the day off, so my fill-in person was able to just sit at her computer and work so that I could stay at my desk all day. :thumbsup2 And today was one of the lawyer's last day, so that frees up another computer to use starting tomorrow, so I might get lucky! However, this is the 2nd lawyer we've lost in 2 weeks, so of course that means there's not as much work being produced for us secretaries, so I'm not sure how tomorrow will go. I really hope somebody calls in sick! OR calls in "Christmas shopping"! :rotfl2:

Hi all!

My name is Matt, and I am married to Jill (Tigger1221). I've been lurking for quite a while, and finally decided to sign up!

Jill will be really suprised when she sees this, that is if it's not buried under a thousand new posts by tonight :rotfl:

Can't wait to meet you all!

Welcome Matt!

I read mostly but do that every single day, I know that feeling.

ok, so when someone says or best offer...how much do you think they are really willing to come down?

I would think 75% and then they will let you know how far off you are. I bet not much.

I must say, I HATE working in retail this time of year, I'm exhausted :headache: I manage a cash office so I don't even get the joy of sharing the excitement of our shoppers (okay, unfortunately it's getting to be more and more the frustration of the shoppers:sad2: ) Our hours of business have been extended so I am either getting home at midnight or later, or starting work at 6:00 AM so getting out of bed at 4:30. My shifts change daily so at this point I don't think my body knows what time of day it is, I had to get up early today and just could not sleep last night. I'm glad I can sleep in tomorrow, but then I work late and then go in during the day the following day (but thankfully not at as early as 6:00 am:rolleyes: ) I am so glad I booked Sunday off, although I don't think my manager was too happy. I did manage to get my tree up, shopping done, and will do my wrapping and some baking before I go in to work tomorrow. Can't believe there are only 4 more days until Christmas:eek:
Kathe

Kathe, I worked in a cash office for three years, and it is so true that being in the "box" is place to feel the spirit of the season, all I remember is handling a lot of paper and fixing cashier errors, I only ever saw customers when there was a problem.

Keep the chin up and know that it will return to normal sometime in January.

well we are the new proud owners of pine bunk beds!! And John is putting them together now. The are hardly used at all.

Since I was literally falling asleep at work, and had a migraine all day, I'm off to have a quick snack and head to bed. Gonna sleep TONS tonight! :goodvibes Too tired to stay up doing anything tonight. Tomorrow after work I need to wrap all Tyler's Santa presents and hide them before he comes home the next day. :thumbsup2

I am so happy you finally joined! I like your screen name. Will you make me a cool signature too?:dance3:

Hey John! Glad you popped in! We were all wondering what happened to you.

Kidnapped by Eskimo Aliens at the blizzard of a Browns Game!

I have no idea if I can catch up though. It has been really hectic for me. Not much time during the day at work, with all the Christmas business in the stores, and even though I work in the office in HR, we are all expected to get out in the stores to lend a hand with the customers.

To add fuel to the fire, my Company car finally blew up Monday morning. It is one perk I have, but we have replaced less frequently than we used to. I was driving a 1999 Taurus with 101,000 miles on it. It finally had a mishap with three of the cylinders out of six, and I had to put it in neutral at stoplights to get it to the garage on Monday.

They finally agreed to get me a new vehicle, so I just today got a replacement Taurus - they are nice cars, and I asked to please have the new Ford Sync system (from Microsoft) in it. It is way cool, with hands free operation of my phone and iPod.

Happy Birthday Noel!

Welcome Matt, and anyone else I may have missed during my hiatus.

If I missed anything I need to go back and see, please let me know - I don't know if I can go back through all the pages and still keep up!

I guess I'll have to - your current sig cuts off our cats head and part of the Mickey wreath! :rotfl2: Chrissy would not approve.

Well it was showing all up on my screen! Fix it!:goodvibes

Holly- :grouphug: Help for Tyler will come soon.

John- Glad to see you unfroze.

:grouphug: for everyone else who needs them.

I only went back a couple pages ---can't catch up yet.
We stayed in the Roy this past November 10th to the 17th!

It was AWESOME!!!!
Sounds wonderful! Bet you had the time of your life.

Hi Guys!

I had to take a moment to check in - it is the crazy season for my business, and between work and shopping, and school stuff I have had very little time.

I miss being here, and yes, I am all thawed out! Amy's chili after the game did the trick. I'll check in and catch up if I get a chance!
DITTO! Behind as well. Congrats on your new car - sounds fun with the gadget connections.
Morning Deb and thanks for the birthday wishes!! I am the only one flying in today. Samantha and the rest of the gang are flying in on Saturday as they all have to work on Friday!!

Just going to read and post a bit before I do my last minute check lists.
Oh, I missed wishing you a happy birthday and bon voyage! Hope you check this - Have a wonderful time!

Hope you got some rest.
We just got the daVinci at the hospital I'm on the campus of - very cool.

We reserved a rental van for the drive home (port to SFO area). It was less than $150, which is a great deal for the 6 of us to get home. I also like the idea of not packing for a plane ride - can just throw things together. I figure by the time we have to go through security, flight, and then wait for luggage, our timing might be very close.

Hope I can catch up....will have some time off next week. Good night all! Lisa

Wow it's been pretty quiet today!

I just finished my last 2 gifts - an afghan and gift card clutch thing - both crocheted. They are for my co-workers.

I have to finish the last few Christmas cards and I'm pretty much done other than wrapping Darrrell's stuff - but I usually wait until the day before to do that.

I've been on jury duty for the last couple of weeks. Luckily the trial ended yesterday - the judge had originally predicted Dec 24th or 26th so this was much nicer. It was a civil trial and we ruled in the defendants favor - case was about eminent domain. The whole experience was pretty interesting. I've always wanted to be on a jury (weird I know) and was surprised to find out when talking to the lawyers afterwards that had they had one more challenge left I would have been bumped. She said they prefer to not have IT people on panels - and out of the 4 IT people in the jury pool I must have seemed the least IT. They prefer teachers and military. I would have guessed it was because Darrell is an archaeologist and the property in question had smoe environmental issues.

Not weird Lisa....I've always wanted to be on a jury too. I've done jury duty a number of times, just never got my name called to even be considered. I'm still waiting.

I think your case was really cool. I wonder if they would ever pick a lawyer to be on the jury....if it's of your peers....I would think that lawyers are not because they know the law. Just curious.

There was a lawyer in the pool but he was excused. One of the woman who was on the jury is married to a lawyer - so that's the closest we got. And she is a teacher too so maybe that's why they kept her.

It's been a quiet day for me today too. No Ibiza....it was supposed to be delivered FedEx along with another item, but they were returned to the FedEx office because they couldn't get up my driveway to deliver. I hate trying to get deliveries in the winter and I only shop online. This is a particularly bad winter so far. I called FedEx and told them to leave it in the truck at the bottom of the driveway. Hopefully they will get delivered tomorrow.

I got a Christmas card today from my brother and what he wrote in it put me and John both in tears.

Tomorrow I start wrapping, then I'll be done and ready for Christmas. It'll be fun to go to a local hotel and swim on Christmas eve. So different from every other Christmas eve. We pick up Ray at 11am on Christmas morning and bring him to our house and open presents. Then we're going out to dinner with Ray and the kid.

We got rid of one of John's kids, but we still have the other one living here with us. He has a studio apt. above the detached garage. Same property, different house. He also works with John so they share the ride.

I still can't get my car out of the driveway and back in. So unless I'm with John in his truck, I'm stuck in the house. I have to wait until Sat. for him to take me to the post office so I can mail off gifts to my nephews in Virginia.....V, that's when I'll mail off the gifts I have for the girls. I've been unable to get out this week and do it.....life in the mountains in the winter. John's truck has 4 wheel drive and big mountain tires and a plow. He can go anywhere. But even he was stranded on Mon. morning after the ice storm. I would rather have snow instead of ice in the winter. I like when it snows....it can be breathtakingly beautiful around here.

We're going to the Olive Garden for dinner Christmas Eve. It's always nice driving then as the stores have closed and most people don't go out. On Christmas we're going to the movies in the morning and then have a real easy dinner at home.

Well I shoud be getting to bed - alarm is going off in about 6 hours!
