Holly and PJ.....love the snow pics....I especially love the forts....we used to make those growing up, but it was one big room, we didn't seperate....good for these kids to think outside the box....literally.

V....thanks for keeping us posted on the Browns score.

Putting on all those clothes to stay warm....you put it on in layers and sweat before you get out of the house, then you're feeling good outside....comfortable and toasty.....until all the layers start getting wet....then it's time to go inside and stay there....with a hot chocolate with whipped cream in hand. The good old days.....growing up on Long Island.

Oh, we don't get snowed in. The snow plows are ready and working like crazy. The haven't been on the side streets yet, but I'm sure they will be soon. That's the worst part. Just when you get done shoveling everything, the snowplow comes and covers the end of your driveway with a HUGE pile of stuff from the road and that's awful to shovel because it's heavy, has big chunks, and is usually packed pretty tight. That pile alone can take 45 minutes if there's enough snow in the roads, which there is. It has finally stopped snowing, and the latest report says only about 4 more inches overnight, so in the morning it will be just a quick shovel job. I can drive over that tiny bit, so I'll just have to shovel the sidewalks for the mailman and other people walking. The worst is over!

We had no snow...just rain!! yea!! I was worried about the nurses getting to hospital to watch after Frank.....(no change at all today....off to the hospital soon). I HATE snow plows.....it never fails just as you finish your driveway, the snow plow comes by and piles it all back into the driveway just so yuo can start all over again!!

Good Morning everyone!! OMG, what a fun night we had last night. We did a progressive dinner with two other couples...one lives on the street behind us and the other a few streets away. Very fun. I had the dinner part, so I did a standing rib roast, creamy horseradish, scalloped potates and green beens almondine and french bread. I tried a recipe for the roast that I've never done before and it turned out perfect, I think I'll make it for Christmas dinner. All you do is have the rib roast come to room temp (which took about 3 hours for an almost 7 lb, 3 rib roast), and preheat the oven to 500 degrees. You roast it for 5 minutes per pound, then shut the oven off and leave it in there for 2 hours....WITHOUT opening the door. It was perfect. Fortunately I have two ovens so I was able to delay start the potatoes in the lower oven, and didn't have to worry about coming home until dinner time. It was so much fun and less stressful because you didn't have to worry about the cradle to grave components of a meal, that we all agreed we had to do it more often. Oh...and we also had pomegranite margs....YUMMY!!!!

okay, I want to try this...did you spice the beef at all? How was the meat cooked....was it rare or medium.

I had to laugh!! your next door neighbor still has their window air conditioner in. That lets in so much cold air....I was thinking to myself.....I don't think you are going to be needing that air conditioner for a while!!

Ours is done and the sun is out! Crazy.

We had snow for the last half hour and now it's just rain after ice all night, what a sloppy mess we're going to have. Then the rain will leave puddles that will freeze over tonight. Oh Great!?!

John just said that it's back to snow right now.....it can't make up it's mind.

You are on the the rain/snow line. Usually DC is right about the line, but this storm the line moved north. Such a mess!!

That is funny about my neighbor's air conditioner. He didn't even put it in his window until summer was almost over. Crazy!

Yeah, and we don't usually get snow like this! We usually only get 3 or 4 inches at a time and quite far in between.

So we didn't go to McDonald's or Burger King. Tyler told me he's too tired to go anywhere! All that playing in the snow made him tired! My body is very stiff now and difficult to move from all the shoveling. But, such a great workout! I found some frozen pizzas in the freezer to bake. We each ate almost a whole pizza! He's dying to get back outside, so maybe after my food settles.

The tree is dry and the top star and lights are on. I'm doing the Manger and ornaments. Then we'll be done. My little plastic tree with my first ornament is out next to the Manger. I like it there.

John is cooking sausage and chop meat to add to sauce that we're having over ravioli tonight for dinner. It smells heavenly.

No diettogo tonight...it's a weekend. I usually let myself have one real meal over the course of the weekend just so I can do this long term. Then I'll watch portion control and add the calories up.....so I'm cheating, but within reason. I'll weigh myself again in two more weeks to see how I'm doing.

Survivor season finale is on tonight. I hope Amanda gets rid of Todd and kicks his but out. Then I would like to see Courtney leave. So the final two would be the lunchlady and Amanda. We'll see what happens tonight.
