good luck to you all with snow! I am not jealous in the least! :)
Yeah, can't blame you there! It's almost up to Tyler's knees, and one neighbor says it's 10 inches, which sounds about right. A neighbor girl, Mahogany, came out when we were shoveling and told us she came to shovel our neighbor's house. That neighbor is a single woman living alone and she does NOT like outside stuff a bit. :rotfl2: Then Tyler went to help Mahogany shovel the neighbor's house. But we didn't know that they were cutting into another neighbor's territory! The teenage boy across the street came out and told us he's supposed to do that (she pays him). Oops! So the kids went another house down to help Mel, an 80 yr old man who was out there doing his driveway. He's a great old guy and loved the unexpected help! Another neighbor girl came to help too. It was kind of neat to see the whole neighborhood out at the same time, sort of helping each other.

So Tyler did one of my sidewalks, a shorter one from the road to the front of our house, and I did the longer one going across the front of the house. I started doing my driveway, and got worn out before even getting 1/2 way up. Great workout! It's not even cold because the hard work of shoveling made me sweat like crazy. Mahogany wants Tyler to come play in the snow in her yard and I said he can because it's only 3 houses down so I can still keep an eye on him, but we had to come in to warm up and have lunch first. So we're about to head back out! I should finish my driveway, but I worry about Mel and will see if he needs more work done first. Poor guy!

AND IT'S STILL SNOWING! If I have to do this again before work I'll have to get up at 5am! Yuck!

The batteries on my camera were dead, so I couldn't get any "before" pics. I recharged them while Tyler ate lunch and will go get pics now! :goodvibes

wow!! Hope you guys don't get snowed in or stuck!
It's nap time, well for John, here. I am surfing the net and watching ESPN and the girls are watching Meet the Robinsons....I hope!

that is what happened to me at Samantha's program...I felt like a putz - of course every parent there had a video camera and a digital camera!

I don't let Tebow in the bedrooms - he will jump on the bed and not get down - so he is lying as close as possible to the girls bedroom door......

has anyone seen Lost in the Bermuda Triangle? It is on SciFi.....it's an older movie I think but looks interesting.

My Darling Husband left the tree outside last night in the truck....ya know, in the OPEN bed in the back. Well we got a huge ice storm here, no snow. My tree was frozen....like a treecycle. It's now in the bathtub defrosting. If you open the bathroom door it smells like EVERGREEN even though the tree is a blue spruce. After it defrosts we'll have to wait for it to dry off before we can put the lights on. Usually, water and electricity don't mix very well.

We've got more ice falling now and we don't have any level land on our property. It's all falling on top of the snow that we already had on the ground. It's slick and dangerous out there. The kid fell as he was getting the tree out of the truck this morning.

Oh winter wonderland.....I wish it was snow instead of ice. All the news reports were wrong. We were supposed to be in the snow belt and not the ice belt. Wrong!

I wonder how John and Alex are doing in the snow at the Browns game. It must be bitingly cold. Hope the Browns win.

defrosting a tree? That's a new one to me!! :)

I found zip ties last night at Albertson's 125 for $1.

I just saw a highlight of the Browns game and the snow is falling hard, the whole field is covered in white. That's the kind of game I love to watch late in the season.....but fortunately for John1, coz he told me I'm not allowed to watch it coz I jinx any game I watch, it's not being aired. He's very lucky coz I would love to watch that game.

Holly, how fun that you and Tyler have so much snow to play in....we'll be looking for pics of that snowman after you make one.

I can't believe Jacksonville scored!! They were saying many of those guys had never seen snow. I believe it!

I'm watching the Jets get slaughtered by the Patriots on one channel and the Packers and Rams on the other channel....I keep flipping back and forth. Neither one has snow on the field....no fun.

Oh, we don't get snowed in. The snow plows are ready and working like crazy. The haven't been on the side streets yet, but I'm sure they will be soon. That's the worst part. Just when you get done shoveling everything, the snowplow comes and covers the end of your driveway with a HUGE pile of stuff from the road and that's awful to shovel because it's heavy, has big chunks, and is usually packed pretty tight. That pile alone can take 45 minutes if there's enough snow in the roads, which there is. It has finally stopped snowing, and the latest report says only about 4 more inches overnight, so in the morning it will be just a quick shovel job. I can drive over that tiny bit, so I'll just have to shovel the sidewalks for the mailman and other people walking. The worst is over! :thumbsup2

Good Morning everyone!! OMG, what a fun night we had last night. We did a progressive dinner with two other couples...one lives on the street behind us and the other a few streets away. Very fun. I had the dinner part, so I did a standing rib roast, creamy horseradish, scalloped potates and green beens almondine and french bread. I tried a recipe for the roast that I've never done before and it turned out perfect, I think I'll make it for Christmas dinner. All you do is have the rib roast come to room temp (which took about 3 hours for an almost 7 lb, 3 rib roast), and preheat the oven to 500 degrees. You roast it for 5 minutes per pound, then shut the oven off and leave it in there for 2 hours....WITHOUT opening the door. It was perfect. Fortunately I have two ovens so I was able to delay start the potatoes in the lower oven, and didn't have to worry about coming home until dinner time. It was so much fun and less stressful because you didn't have to worry about the cradle to grave components of a meal, that we all agreed we had to do it more often. Oh...and we also had pomegranite margs....YUMMY!!!!

Are you able to watch that game V? It's not airing in my area. They're playing in Pittsburg....is there any snow on the field there?

Tie score in Green Bay.

that sounds awesome!! I love rib roast...maybe we'll try this for xmas.

No snowman today. Tyler was fascinated with trying to make a big hill, and then after seeing the forts that the teenagers across the street made, he wanted to try to do one. BUT I can't help him because my gloves are just knitted ones that the snow goes right through. They're fine for keeping warm when we're out, but aren't meant for handling the snow, and I can't find my snow ones! I found one in my closet. Will have to buy some when we're out next and maybe we'll do a snowman tomorrow after school before hockey class. :thumbsup2
