His dad managed to keep him up as long as possible, then struggled to wake him up at 4am like the doc said to, but he said Tyler was pretty good natured about it for having very little sleep. I think he said he slept about 4 hours. The technician doing the EEG said they got a successful reading, meaning his dad did a good job of making sure he was sufficiently sleep deprived. Then when they got to the point where the needed him to fall asleep and test his brain patterns while sleeping, his dad told me that was a struggle because he was overtired and just couldn't fall asleep and was REALLY cranky (understandable), so they asked dad to leave the room and Tyler calmed right down and fell asleep. Now, I know he must have been completely exhausted to be able to fall asleep in a strange place with a stranger in the room.
It took a couple hours and when his dad called me after they got home, Tyler was napping. His dad's voice was really gravelly from lack of sleep and sounded like he'd been up all night. GOOD! It's good for him to see some of the hard parts of being a parent instead of just having your child come over to play.
I think Tyler's pediatrician will call me next week with the results, which I'm sure will be normal, she just wanted to narrow some things out.![]()
What a trooper Tyler is. I'm so glad it worked out ok for him. And I'm glad his dad got to be a parent and see what that's like. I've spent many a sleepless night just with my dog....Gandalf, before Angel....he was always sick and he had epilepsy and was constantly having seizures and I would always sit with him and time them.....if they went past 10 mins. I had to get ice and alcohol and keep his temperature down.....many sleepless nights!
