Kathe! Congrats! I'm so happy for you! Please bring a picture with you next month.

Lisa (disneylover5) - I'm up for a mini meet....even if just for a quick cup of joe. Let me know what you'd like to do.

Hope everyone's Saturday has been a good one.

V, Bubba/Venetia - loved the pics!

Jackie - on your fly by reads, did you see the snuba info?

Holly - you made me tired too reading what you needed to do. Did you get any of it done?

I had a good day today....though started out later than I had planned (couldn't get out of bed). Spent about 4 hrs cropping pictures from my trip to Ireland last year, getting them ready for the scrapbook. Now am watching the Brit Wit shows on PBS. Thought about doing laundry - but that's all it ended up being. Will need to do that tomorrow. :laundy:

V-Actually, speaking of pics of you...you look very much like one of three "young" women (remember I turned 50 PLUS I'm a Grandma;) ) I met in line at one of the free wine seminars at epcot last year. Any chance it WAS you??? Maybe you have a twin? I know you have a sister:)

hmmm, not sure I have ever been to anything Free relating to wine at Epcot....John did the Sam Adams thing.....but - if it was me, I would have probably talked your ear off!

BTW 50+ is Super Young!

Although I may not post as much as a lot of you, I try to read as often as I can, and am amazed at how generous and kind you all are to one another. So, where generally in life I have learned to be a little careful what I share with others, simply to protect myself from hurtful comments and judgments, I have decided to share with you what has been one of the most joyous days of my life.

Today I became the grandmother to the most beautiful baby girl:angel: :cloud9:

At 9:25 AM , Serenity was born weighing 8lbs 14 oz.

You may remember my daughter was married in May. Well, two days later, my son (who moved to another province in Feb) informed me that his girlfriend, who still lives here, was pregnant and expecting in Sept. We have had a few tough months. His girlfriend, Samantha (yes, yet another Samantha! ) and him planned to move her out to where he is after the baby was born. She is young and scared:sad1: One day she wants to move, the next she wants to stay here, how hard to have a new baby and move half way across the country where there are no friends or family. She does not have a mom around which just makes this harder. So my son took some time off work and came home a couple of weeks ago and Samantha has moved in with me for now. And finally, a week late (after being told by the doctors she was definitely going to be early:rolleyes: ) a sweet baby girl was born this morning:goodvibes They will be coming home, to my house, on Monday. My son needs to go back to work on Thurs and Samantha and the baby will stay with me until Nov then move out west. I am so worried about how they will make out and whether Samantha will actually be able to follow through with these plans. But I try very hard, especially after losing my husband 5 years ago, to live each and every day for itself. So, on this very special day, I hope to share with all of you , the joy of being a grandma for the very first time.

Kathe

Warmest congratulations on the birth of your new GD Serenity. Your son and Samantha are very lucky to have such a wonderful, caring mother and grandmother to help them during this joyous time. I am sure you will make all the difference in helping them learn to cope with a new baby and a new life.

my mom just called...she has reservations at Boardwalk on the weekend of 10/12-13-14....she is paying RACK! Yikes...

anyway she can get a Fl rate at the All Star Suites....and is considering changing....of course we may have to visit that weekend!! No home games....and I bet ESPN will be hopping!

Kathe, congratulations on that new little girl. She will bring you a lot of joy! It sounds like you are doing all the right things in being supportive of them in this difficult time for them. The problem I see is spending 2 months with her and her mom and then having them move away. That will be difficult for you. You will have to make many visits!

I agree...I can't tell you, with all the differences my mother and I have had in my life, she was a huge help with the birth of my girls especially the baby. It helped me on every level...

well we decided that a puppy is in order for xmas...an inside dog and now, John just said somethign about 2....NO WAY!
No Dobies.....John was bitten by one as a child...no Boxer's.....Lab is the front runner with Dalmations and Weimereiner's - I totally butchered that------ rounding out the list.

I'd read up on Dalmations. Our neighbor bred and raised them. They are very active, need to run alot! I don't know that I would get one in the city. They were fun neighbors here on the mountain though. They had 2 acres to run on.

good to know...I think we just ruled them out.

I am a bit sad, I would like to adopt from a shelter but John is very adament about raising a puppy....we raised Gator together...and Lilly was mine so I raised her and John was ok with her but I am not sure he ever felt fully comfortable. Lilly was definitely my protector...as well as the girls. We did the whole wrap the new baby in the blanket for a day and gave both dogs one.
:(

We had two male Cocker Spaniels that were litter mates. Samantha choose them at the breeder when they were first born. The breeder had us give her sweaty teeshirts that the dogs slept with until we took them home. They already knew our smell so the transition was not hard at all. Both of them were great companions and inside dogs, totally loyal to all three of us. They would love to curl under my feet when I would type on the computer but were always up for a run or to play ball.

We loved our little Cocker Spaniel too. He lived just to please us. What a sweet guy he was.

Oh, but it would be sooo much fun!

We saw Avenue Q on Thursday. It's hilarious. When the lead character Brian loses his job and has bills to pay, the cuddly Bad Influence Bears tell him to buy a six pack because it would be so much fun! He finally agrees, then the bears convince him to buy a case, since it's so much cheaper to buy in bulk.

Avenue Q is in L.A. until October 14, so you can go to both DL and Ave Q. It would be sooo much fun!

Woody

I totally agree.

We saw Ave Q in San Diego back in Aug and it was great!

And love that the main character has a degree in English as I too have a degree in English - it seemed like a good idea at the time.

here's the result of BUILD A BEAR..AKA, swipe your purse...

Let me tell you....Al E Gator, has on a UF t-shirt underneath that generic outfit along with panties, roller skates, we have a sleeping bag, sunglasses, SKETCHERS, A PIRATE OUTFIT for Halloween and matching boots....need I go on?

The Gator is cute!

I love Build-a-Bear - we are going to the one at DL next month with my niece. They have it on theDL planning video and as soon as Lila saw that Mommy had to call Aunt Lisa cause Sassafrass needs new clothes. (Sassafrass is a pink cat we "built" back in June).

wow, so we really have decided.......a new pup..a LAB....!!! Not sure if we can be lucky by xmas time, but we can try...we have been S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G all night and Samantha turns to me and says (just now) "are we getting a new dog", guess we didn't do too well!
