Having pizza and syrup sponge and custard for tea.

Marilyn, that is just too weird to me.....having pizza for tea??????? It does not compute in my world. What is syrup sponge?????? I love custard and think that it goes well with tea. How different our habits are too....more so than just the language. Is your tea more like our dinner? Do you have dinner after tea? What do you eat for dinner?

Curious minds just gotta know!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Did John get his email? Did you get to the bathroom?

Don't keep us in suspense!

Ah, we call all meals differently even over here. I was brought up eating a cooked meal at lunch time - called dinnertime, and at school they were always school dinners. So, teatime was whatever we had 5.30pm - 6pm when my dad got home, usually sandwiches etc. We never called lunch 'lunch'. We did usually have a supper which was a snack.

Southerners and 'posh' people used the term lunch and the dinner in the evening - we were neither Southern or posh!:rotfl:

Nowadays, I do call lunch 'lunch' even if we have a cooked meal(though occasionally I will call a cooked lunch a dinner!), but still call tea 'tea', even if it is a cooked meal! I never call an evening meal a 'dinner' unless it is advertised as such - eg. WDW etc. I will say we are going out for a meal, not dinner! I never use the term having a 'dinner party'. I think it goes back to my more 'working class' roots!!:rotfl2:

Do you get it?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So, pizza does as a lunch, tea or dinner, or even a supper.;)

Do you have Golden Syrup? It is refined sugar syrup - a little like maple syrup but not as strong tasting. You can make a steamed pudding with the syrup in the bottom of a basin, a sponge cake mixture on top, sealed with greaseproof paper tied with string and steamed for an hour or so. When turned out some of the syrup has soaked into the sponge and some is runny. It is extremely good for you and contains no calories!:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: You can make it with jam too.

No, I just had to wake him up or else there might have been an accident! I don't know how he can sleep so well at night and then so long later too!

okay 3am and the curfew was 2:30am for the girls....they came home at 2:45 but I had to text them to get home....

I am a little worried they will sneak out......

I never stayed out late.....never sneaked out ... lots of kids get caught doing that now. Daniel never gave me one minutes worry......so this is new for me.

I hope they didn't sneak back out!

This absolutely cracked me up! I'm glad I wasn't the only one last night! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: I'm so glad game night was a success!

Oh no, I had quite a few yesterday. You should see the counter of empty bottles in my kitchen!:rolleyes1

Well it looks like I scared everybody off with that post.:rotfl:

Not at all- I find the differences in our terms terribly interesting! I actually think it's a lot more healthy the way Europeans eat, with a big meal in the middle of the day instead of at night. We Americans tend to eat a giant meal right before we go to sleep, and then there's no way to burn off the calories.

Glad the Indians won but happier that we beat Arkansas and that LSU lost! The only thing that would have made yesterday better is if Alabama had lost! All in all a good day. We didn't get home until 5am so needless to say today is pretty wasted.

I hope they didn't sneak back out!

They didn't. They were up and happy this morning....eating bagels. I thought 2:30am was a pretty liberal curfew.....they wanted 4am. That is crazy......

Daniel is leaving now ..... :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

That is Matt. He is my best friend's son. The boys were not too thrilled to be there, my guess. I don't know a lot of these kids because I did not raise a child this age. There were 4 church kids there.

This family whose house they took the pictures at has a 9th grader and an 11th grader. The 9th grader had his friends there first. Another dear friend (she is the youth minister at church and preaches purity to all the teens) had her 9th grade son there. His date was very well endowed (sp?) and her dress did not cover up very much. Sharon was livid!! The mom of the girl came over and apoligized and Sharon said "Well, you bought it for her."

There is a sleep over at my house....girls only.

In defense of the well endowed girl, many dresses for young teens fit the "well endowed" girls differently. Being a well endowed teenager myself and having the same "problems" with my daughters, I can sympathize with the mother. A dress that is just as revealing doesn't look as revealing on someone who is not as endowed.

Just my thoughts....

Give them an inch and they'll take a yard, you know? 2:30 sounds like a liberal curfew to me! I had a midnight or 1 am curfew in High School.

Sorry your time with Daniel was short, but you'll see him again soon!

Is Daniel away till the Christmas break now? I bet he seems to have grown up since being away.

What were the options for the girls to do from 2.30am till 4am? I would have been worried too however good the girls are.

ITA! Sometimes an outfit looks fine on the hanger, but you can't tell how things will pop out once put on your own frame. I had on a cute looking top last night, but I had to keep pulling it up, because it wound up hanging a little lower than I thought it might.

I do agree. It is the same nowadays when I buy tops. At my age I don't want to show too much, but just about everything is cut low, and if you are more well endowed then it is a problem if you want to be more modest.

Have you tried online shopping? I love it, I absolutely hate to go shopping for clothes and now I buy most of my stuff at Lands End, they have a great return policy.

I buy clothes for work and home from Lands End. The returns policy is excellent, but I spend a lot on return postage. Yesterday I sent a parcel back with 3 pairs of shoes and it cost me £8 ($16) postage! That was far too much money just to see if I liked the shoes.

Exactly. I have that problem too.

Daniel is gone!!! I do not do very good with this kind of stuff..I miss him already.:( :( :( :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

 It must be so hard. I didn't have this to deal with as our eldest son studied radiography at local hospitals and didn't leave home till he was 21, and our daughter left home when she got married at 20. By then I was quite ready for it. Our younger son sort of left home slowly. He went to a local college at 19 and began staying over at friends for longer and longer periods till he eventually moved out!!!:rotfl:

Can someone supply me with the person's name who is coordinating shuttle transfer from MCO to the port? A long time ago I put our name on the list to share a shuttle. I wanted to try and finalize some of our plans and thought I would start there first.

Thanks!!!!
