Hi, Deb. You are up late.

Hi Angie...just trying to catch up to my posting....I slept earlier after the visiting nurse left me in a lot of pain.....took the pain pill and slept....now, I'm up and figured it would be a good time to catch up.

I'm so happy DU responded to you so quickly at this hour and you got all the ressies and excursions you wanted. Isn't it great when you're done with that part and they make it so easy for you to do. I LOVE it!;) :thumbsup2 ;)

Thank-you, I'm glad you liked them. I loved making them. I thought maybe having some cards on hand could possibly spare you having to run an errand or two.

That's so thoughtful Lisa and yes will help out a lot, just one thing, I don't want to give them away coz I like them so much....maybe I should give them to me on special occasions. HA HA HA:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That's my idea of a tatoo too - the pain free kind!

Oh absolutely and I like that it's not permanent...if I want it, I can always get another one, but if I don't want it there, I can't get rid of it. My problem would be that I would change my mind from day to day.:cutie: :goodvibes :cutie:

Goodnight Lisa, it's been fun chatting, but I'm getting tired again so it's time to get the feet back up and put the rest down for the night. Sweet Mickey dreams.:cloud9:  :cloud9:

Holey Moley!

ALL the money given to our entire district for the WHOLE year by ALL the PTO's is less than $100,000. We have 6,000 students in our district. Seven elementaries, two middle schools, and our High School has 2,000 students.

If every kid brought in $150 we would be in good shape!

We are lucky that our school is the only school for the district so all the funds stay with the school (I think there is about 500 kids). I am pretty sure the salaries for the teachers are a bit higher in California so probably one of the reasons more money is needed. But this school is a little unusual with its fundraising...somewhat infamous. During the days of the high tech boom, it was even more crazy with the gifting. I feel grateful our kids can reap the benefits - 2 full-time art teachers, 2 Spanish teachers (starting in 1st grade), 2 full-time music teachers, FT speech therapy, FT reading specialist, etc. The school is probably the biggest reason we moved here three years ago. However, the local public high school isn't very good so not sure what we are going to do. I guess private, but it sure would be nice not to have to deal with tuition. Lisa

Lisa, you might also consider instead getting at least one Mintek portable DVD player for traveling. I have found them to be very reliable over the years. We use head phones and splitters for more than one child.

mintek.jpg

Great suggestion - I will look into that. I saw also that IPOD has now a mini-video for $140 (I think around that). I do like not having to put DVDs in only to find out they are scratched. But I'll check out the Mintek. Lisa

WOW is all I can say to those totals and Calmom's amounts!
Some of the private school in the Bellevue/Kirkland areas and Seattle areas raise that kind of money...out here I was so excited to have raised 29K last year!! The first year I started the auction we raised 13K, the second year 17K and this past year 29K...I know it is small amounts compared to the other auctions but for us, it was a huge amount of money and we have been able to do so much to help the school. It will be interesting to see how this years' auction goes....but hopefully we will never go back to selling cookie dough or wrapping paper!!!

Hmm..I don't recall I mentioned our amount - probably not too polite of me. Didn't mean to talk too much about money. We actually are on the lowest patron amount so I don't think of ours as very generous, but for us it is a lot.
Lisa

John has started taking Fridays off work now, when convenient, so on this really beautiful day we have walked for almost 3 hours and had a lovely coffee sitting outside overlooking beautiful gardens. What a great morning.

We need to get in serious training for our WDW trip in November!!!:rotfl:

Marilyn,

This place looks so lovely!

I would love to go there and have a coffee!!

Still catching up! Way behind!

From the Woodside Elementary parent handbook:
After completion of the construction, portable classrooms will be removed and the fields will be renovated and expanded.

Noel,
Did you read about the talk regarding the fields? I guess they decided to do two turf fields instead of grass. It was going to be a big cost savings and they (school board) thought it would be better. Then, over the summer - after they had already started the field work - a petition got started to only have one turf field and change the other to grass. First response was it was too much money. And then, kinda of out of the blue, money no longer was an issue and the board met, and decided to change plans. I am pretty impressed by their flexibility, and thankful of the mystery funds. Since the bond got passed 18 months ago, they are now almost all done. Pretty fast work, thank goodness as having to deal with construction while dropping off and picking up is a pain!

Trues, but does have a larger screen!!

I do wonder if children's eye sight will be affected by all the small screens - from the PDA, text messaging, and IPODs. I know my sight seem to get affected during college and I thought it had to do with all the computer time. Lisa

Before our first cruise I kept wondering about ordering one of the Bon Voyage petit fours and wine packages, but eventually the Yorkshire in me won ;) and I decided against it. In my defence, they all include alcohol which I don't drink and DH wouldn't be bothered for. Then when we arrived in our stateroom, it was sitting on the table. With the compliments of DCL - we've never really known why but presume it was because we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.

I did eat the chocolate strawberries and some of the other goodies, and DH had one glass of the wine, but we didn't really appreciate it because we'd just eaten at Parrot Cay. I did put the remaining goodies in the 'fridge' but there's so much food available on board that they were just binned in the end.

It was a nice surprise, but I wouldn't order it myself.

I'm thinking of ordering something from Shirley for my DH but can't come up with any ideas.

We will have to join forces and come up with some male ideas!!! Mandy(UKAngel) had one made for her hubby and had a pirates towel and some Disney soft toy I think, but I think John would think I had gone too far giving him a soft toy!!!!:rotfl2: John doesn't like the chocolate, but I am sure a small item would be gratefully received. Unfortunately we can't really send items over can we?

Good Morning...I just woke up....The visiting nurse came today to wrap the legs and it was a lengthy and taxing process....All the paperwork and trying to get her to understand my degree of pain and what I would and would not do. She had orders from the doctor and needed to stick to them. She wanted me to scrub the legs today. I said not today. They still hurt so much from last Tuesday's experience. I said I soaked each of them today in Hibiclens (surgical cleansing solution) and that's all I was doing until they stopped hurting again. She almost walked out on me. Why is it so difficult for me to protect myself against procedures with the level of pain that I have? Finally she wrapped the legs, all went well and someone will be back on Monday. I may have to go through this all over again with another person. Great!

After she left I was supposed to do the walk through at mom's house with my brother, but just could not. I hurt too much and took a pain killer and went to sleep. Tomorrow is another day, I'll do the walk through then. :hippie:

 Deb, you do have some unsympathetic medical personnel dealing with you. So sorry.

You guys got married the weekend before us in 1986. We were married on the 24th. It was Memorial Day weekend here - 3 day holiday weekend.

Tell your DH it is a life sentence!:rotfl2:

 You're in big trouble!!!:rolleyes1 :lmao:

Lunch today was a light salad with sliced leftover steak. Dinner tonight is tabbouleh in pita bread and wine.

Mmmm, very nice too.

We ordered it, (the DCL Petit four thing) but to be honest I'd say save your money or order something different from Shirley. We didn't want the food since you could get so much stuff from the lunch buffet anyways. Also, they don't save well, I wish I had thought that the room steward would have wanted them. Iwant to have Shirley make us a basket, I'm just thinking of what could be in it????
I have to agree. We ordered the petit fours and champagne and after lunch, by the time you go to your room and have a chance to sit it's about time to go to dinner. Ours went wasted.

:rotfl: I imagine that is very true!!

We will have to have something that will fold up for packing. Anyway, not sure John would appreciate a sand pail somehow!!!:lmao:

I wish The Perfect Gift website had more pictures of examples and prices on it. Just top have some ideas of items to include and costs. I know they are all individual, but it is nice to have some idea when browsing.
Shirley does great and at first I wanted more pics too but she really does custom to each order. I imagine she will be very busy for this trip!

V,

We were in a Cat 3 for the Eastern Panama cruise. Looks just like the room you guys were in.

It was our Anniversary too! I have a picture of the same cake!!

Small Disney World!

Karen

yep it was 8022.

I am sooooo tired!

Ya'll were chatty last night.

We had fun, I thought Troy should not have scored so much but oh well, still a win for us.

GO DUCKS! That was great too!

I have to say....yesterday morning I was so MAD.

Samantha cut a HUNK of Haley's hair, right in the middle in the back. It's very very noticable. But I am going to leave it. I don't want to cut the rest.

Anyway I can get it to grow faster?

We are supposed to go to John's boss's house for a going away football party for one of our league's members. I really would rather lie on the couch and graze and watch football here.

did you guys watch LSU? They look great! We play them AT LSU this year. YIKES!

That Va Tech QB is a scrambler though.

I can't believe Auburn and GA lost. There goes the SEC! When the season started I think we had 5 or 6 teams on our schedule highly ranked.
