I think you need time when you can just chill and do what you want just for you Holly. The rest of the time you are working or have Tyler with you. I know you organise some wonderful things for him. So, don't YOU feel guilty - relax for some more!
Thank you! That's what I usually end up doing because the older he gets, the more he loves to help around the house, so I'm able to save more of that work for when he's here to help. :thumbsup2

That's the one I have in my stack - I hope it gets better.

Well we are off to the zoo. Then I have a dry-embossing card class at a local scrapbook store.
Have a great time today! Hmmm....I was considering taking Tyler to the zoo tomorrow. Our local zoo is really small. You can see the whole thing in an hour. So we like the Detroit Zoo. It takes about an hour to drive there, but it's large enough to be a whole day adventure. In fact, last time we were there, we were there about 7 hours and didn't see everything. MIght end up going there tomorrow. I just can't decide! But the weather is supposed to be absolutely beautiful today & tomorrow, so we'll definitely do something outside. :thumbsup2

Good morning...10:15am ans still no Vanessa yet. In Norway, school starts at 9:45am. In VA, High School starts at 7am.....means she gets up at 5:45am!!

I imagine she will sleep till noon!!
Lisa
Good morning Lisa! :goodvibes

Vanessa must be really tired from having to adjust to getting up so much earlier for school. I remember how hard it was to get up so early for high school. I was constantly missing my bus and my mom would make me ride my bike to school! :lmao: It was about a 1/2 hour bike ride, so not very fun! Whenever I missed the bus in elementary school, she'd make me walk to school, which was a mile and a half away. I suppose it was good exercise! ;)

I'm still not a morning person and am almost always late for work. :sad2:

Lisa:

Made it a little easier and looked them up for her/you if you guys have any interest.

Thanks very much...first link did not work, but the second one did. Looks like we just missed the last event.

She does not seem homesick.....I have asked her and she says no, she is just fine with us. We have kept her very busy...and have not yet even gone downtown DC yet. She does not seem to have any interest in going downtown.....the only thing she says she wants to see it the White House.

ummm - the first time I played Manhunt I was an adult - at a friend's family reunion. (Yep, alcohol was involved )

Alcohol (and drugs) has been a big topic of conversation between us. I am sure she does does drink and I am just about as sure she does not do drugs. She understands the rules I have and the exchange program has about alcohol....no questions asked....she is just sent home. She does not want to go home and her mom tells me she loses the "stipend" from Norway for this program, so there is a monetary consequense as well. I have told her the police actively bust the teen parties, which is what kept Daniel away from them. Tomorrow night starts our teenage church group...so more new friends. Ones I know don't drink.

Being a teen today is hard. We live in an area with a lot of money. Kids have more than they need here. It really is kinda gross. The parking lot at the high school for the kids has Mercedes, BMW's and Volvos. There was a joke "How do you know you are in a Fairfax County High School parking lot?" "The kids parking lot has nicer cars than the Teacher's parking lot"

My family is just not like that. They used complain that their friends have this or that.....but not any more. Daniel started working a few days after he turned 14 and I think it helped him so much and kept him out of trouble.

I did see yesterday in the news Fairfax County had the highest SAT scores in the Nation yesterday. That was pretty cool.

Good morning Lisa! :goodvibes

I would not go this far. Although all my kids have been pretty good about getting up, if we mess up one morning I drive them. If they had to ride their bikes to school they would get run over for sure!! There is so MUCH traffic here.......

The government would like more children to cycle to school here - global warming etc, but the roads are scary and I wouldn't like to see children on the roads on their bikes in the rush hours.

I am going to bed. I am so tired. On top of everything else, a dear friend of ours dropped dead on Sunday evening....while outside in the street visiting with neighbors.

Today was the funereal and Don planned all the music for the service. I helped with the reception. 400 showed up for the service and reception. It was a wonderful tribute to his life.

He was such a great guy. I had visited with him on Sunday morning. Gretchen says she was the last one he tickled.....I have a very heavy heart.

You have had so much this past year. Please know that there are prayers going up for your family and friends. :grouphug:

Pirate wenches - do you wear silver or gold jewellery? I'm going to be looking round for some cheap items, just not sure what. Do you suggest lots of chains?

I got the Mardi Gras style colored beads that I mixed in with 'pearls' and some gold beads...got them from the party store...VERY inexpensive.

I had black pants with narrow white stripes, black shirt and my pirate Mickey ears. Think I'll go a little more all out for our PC cruise...we'll see.

Have any of you had the Bon Voyage things before? Just wondering whether to.

First, congrats on pirate: 26,000!
We've done the gift baskets from Shirley at The Perfect Gift. She does a great job and you can totally cusomize what you want. Peg got me this one as my birthday present. It had 8 cans of diet rootbeer...something you can't get on the ship!

Yes, and a third passed yesterday....don't they say something in three's?
I am going to a funeral at Arlington National Cemetary (he passed 6 weeks ago...that is how long you wait to be buired at Arlington) for a friend of my mom's (taking her) ..... but funerals there are so Cool!! I feel lucky to get to go.

I have to remember I have a job!!

Arlington National Cemetary is one of my favorite places. It is so beautiful and peaceful. I would love to see a service there.

Thanks for the pictures!! That helps a lot.

I sent an email to Shirley a couple of weeks ago to get some idea of things I could put in a basket for John, and prices etc, but she hasn't come back to me yet. Of course I don't need it till December, but I would like to know to help me decide.

This wench wears any kind of jewelery she can get! Silver and gold are both good! Gems and jewels are good too. Whatever booty me pirate matey can steal for me.pirate:

Yippee! I found something fun for us to do tonight! I found a carnival about 35 minutes away! Very fun and Tyler will be so excited to hear we're going....we'll head straight there right after I pick him up from his dad's. :yay:

I know she's in Key West visiting family (and picking up brochures and coupons for DISers) this weekend. I can't tell you the pricing on ours, as Peg took care of that. I know DCL has a $12ish fee that will be part of it. If you have anything from 'home' you'd like to include, you can send it to them and they'll put it in the basket too. So maybe if he has a favorite treat (crips, cookie) that would be fun to put in there. We also had a wine basket. Two bottles of wine, some cheeses, crackers and nuts and hard candies. I think that one was kind of expensive because of the wine we picked and she chose some quality cheese/crackers/nuts....I think Peg just gave her a $ amount and said 'go for it'!

We also had in our room the DCL champagne and petifours (sp?)....choc covered strawberries and the like, that was a gift from our travel agent. That was very nice and I know you can get it with apple cider instead of champagne if you prefer. I don't have a photo of that, but I know I've seen them on the DIS...if I run across it again, I'll post it for you.

Well, I suppose I'd better get off the couch, get a shower, and go pick up some lunch. Have to check my e-mail to arrange pickup times with people coming to take away a bunch of Tyler's old stuff (backyard toys he's outgrown). Very exciting to get rid of clutter! And Tyler's making a little bit of money, so he's excited too!

Have a great afternoon everybody!
