Noel, that is a whole lot of problems. I will be praying for Pete and his mother, also that you have a pain free summer.

Have a great trip with the grandchildren - sounds like you enjoy it too.

Thanks for your prayers. I am going to have a wonderful time with the kids and am ever so thankful for my generally good health!!

Marilyn, hope you don't mind me using your quote too, but I share your sentiment.

Noel, I was just popping in for a minute and read your post, so sorry you are dealing with so much. Sending lots of prayers for you and your family  I too hope you have a great time with your grandchildren.

And my favorite picture...this is the night that we got the house. We were eating dinner and noticed a rainbow so Scott and I ran out to get a picture...

Although there is still a ton of work to be done, it is getting closer and closer to our dream home. It was a long 10 months of waiting but I think it will be worth it:thumbsup2
Congratulations! What a beautiful home, and the rainbow :goodvibes
Hope you and your family enjoy many many happy years here.

Extremely tired here too after the events of last night/early this morning . . .

We learned a very valuable lesson last night as parents. Don't let your little ones dance on your 10" high living room coffee table!

Our "baby" Kayla (pictured below), lost her balance and fell the very short distance from the table to the carpeted floor and broke her tiny left arm last night. Never before have we felt so awful. It truly was crushing to see her in so much pain. She handled it like a champ, but we were shattered. Her main concern at the hospital was to still be able to participate in a fashion show she was "hired" to be in on Friday. Of course her Dad happens to be employed by the company (starts with an "N") putting it on - so it shouldn't be a problem. But through it all, that is all she was worried about.

She sees the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow morning. Her wish now is a Minnie Mouse cast (or a pink one)!

 Hugs for you and your daughter. I understand how bad you must feel, although my kids never broke anything, there were a few stitches along the way...but hard as it is at the time, they do heal and so will you:)

Sorry I have not been posting for a few weeks........but..:grouphug:
to everyone who is having a little bit of life's trials right now...especially some :wizard: headed to all of those in need of a little Disney Magic.

We are getting set for our 7 night Magic cruise soon...but really looking forward to this one.

I have started making plans and have reserved a car for the night before as well as a hotel in Cocoa. A car in La and a hotel at Disneyland. A hotel for Vegas and am working on San Fran. I am sooo ready to go. I still airline tickets to get....praying for a sale.

Good luck to everyone and I will try to be more attentive to the thread. sorry

How's Kayla doing? Hope the doctor appointment went well. Lisa

Thanks to everyone for their positive words and prayers for Pete and Liz. You guys are the best!!!

No word . . . that's the way it goes I guess - since I am just starting on this journey, I am being realistic. I do think that if you request someone's resume, and they send it, you should at least provide some type of response......

Don't count on it. Our son sends resumes daily and gets no acknowledgement.,

....Good Luck...oh..if anyone has any thoughts on DVC places to stay in florida please post...
Thanks Steph

We have stayed at our home DVC resort of Old Key West as well as Boardwalk, Wilderness Villas, Saratoga Springs, Vero Beach and Hilton Head.
We have only missed Beach Club.

They are DVC!! All are nice. The rooms in Old Key West are larger but the others are still very nice!

I'M FINISHED!!!! I just finished booking my last ressies for this cruise. What a great feeling. I reserved my car rental in LA and I booked and paid for my hotel in Vegas. I'm done! The only thing left to do is reserve car service to the Port in FL and car service from the port in LA. I'll wait until Jan or Feb to do that.

I keep checking to see when the excursions are going to go up on the site, but they're not there yet. I can't wait until I can check them out and get them booked too.

Up early today....having coffee.....Angel goes to the vet at 8am to be dropped off....she's getting spayed today and we can pick her up tomorrow morning. Hopefully, it will be an attitude adjustment for her too. Training Gandalf was a LOT easier.....he listened the first time, everytime.....not Angel.....she'll be six months old on Monday....can't wait to see what she weighs today. Tom slept over to help me with her in the car. She's almost the size that Gandalf was as an adult and she's still got a lot more growing to do.....she's a BIG girl.
 :surfweb:

Way to go Deb!!!! All I have booked at the moment are the cruise and a few nights at the Candy Cane Inn after.

Flights can be booked in a little over 2 weeks, then we can think about the pre cruise stay. Probably will be POP to save some $'s, but I am toying with seeing if anyone could rent DVC points to us. Hopefully our Florida car hire can be with our airfares, but we will have to see.

Hope the pup op goes ok. It is always a little worrying when they go for something like this.

Hope your husband does well in his playoffs and you guys have a blast at Disney!!

I am getting ready to take GK's to Lake Almanor for two weeks starting on Friday. The kids and I will fly to Reno and rent an Escalade to drive the two hours from Reno to the lake. We have lots of plans for going out on the boat, fishing, wake boarding, tubing, water skiing, bike riding, playing tennis, golfing, windsurfing, attending all the band shell concerts and kids lessons and activities. I will be a very busy Grandmother.

The rest of the news is both good and not SO good. My surgery is scheduled for September 17 as I have not had another attack and want the rest of the summer to help my family.

On the flip side, DD Jennifer's DH Pete probably has lupus nephritis based on the biopsy. Lupus nephritis is one complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE ). It is related to the autoimmune process of lupus, where the immune system produces antibodies (antinuclear antibody and others) against body components. Complexes of these antibodies and complement accumulate in the kidneys and result in an inflammatory response.

She and DH need a break from the kids as he needs to go on a cytotoxic drug which typically is used for cancer patients. Cytotoxic (cyto=cell, toxic=damage) drugs work by targeting and damaging cells that grow at a rapid rate. In autoimmune diseases and vasculitis the immune system is hyperactive and produces autoantibodies at a rapid rate of growth. Cytotoxic medicines have their greatest effect against rapidly dividing cells and, therefore, can be beneficial by suppressing the cells involved in the hyperactive immune response. The effect is a reduction in disease activity. There are risks associated with the use of cytotoxic drugs. The immune system may be suppressed too much and cause in increased susceptibility to infections such as shingles and pneumonia. The bone marrow may be suppressed and result in reductions in red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Suppression of hair cell growth may lead to a net loss of hair. The cytotoxic effects on gonadal cells may lead to sterility. Drugs to reverse the toxic effects on the blood and immune system can be given if needed.

On top of that, Pete's mother was hospitalized and had surgery yesterday for a tumor in her abdomen. They will not know for 4-5 days if it is cancerous. Pete can not be anywhere near a hospital or sick people, so Jen spent the day at the hospital, getting home about 8 PM. Pete is the "rock" of the family so his brothers are not stepping up to the plate causing family anxiety. Elizabeth is divorced, not financially capable of taking care or herself if she has developed a life threatening illness.

With DH and I taking kids away from this drama, it will allow both of them to deal better with the situation. The younger kids are not really aware of much but my almost 13 year old GD is pretty aware something is going on with her dad. None of the kids know anything yet about Elizabeth.

Please pray for both Pete and his mother Elizabeth that all will go well. I will check in as time allows.

Noel

WOW!! What a lot on your family's plates at this time.
Prayers for healing and that Pete's siblings will recognize the time is right for them to chip in and help with their Mother. Since he has been the rock, they never HAD TO do it before. Now that he is down they may be able to see the need. May that be the case.
