I think January would be best. Right in the middle of winter, when it would be great to get warmed up for a couple days! :goodvibes It will be a cheap getaway, so just about any time works for me, as long as it's after Sept. 10 when I have to pay for my Nov. cruise. This cruise is chump change compared to what I have to pay for the Nov. one because in Nov. I'm paying for 2 people (unless I find somebody to take Tyler's place), but only 1 on this cruise, Nov. is a verandah, but this one is only a Cat. 11. Cheap in comparison! :thumbsup2

Just so you all know, Las Vegas can be quite cold in Jan. Bring your jackets and don't expect to warm up too much. You will not be dealing with snow, but...

Thanks Noel! I checked them out and they're only booking until the beginning of Nov 07 right now. If I use them, I have to fly into Philadelphia and then I would need to get someone to pick me up. They don't go into Newark, where I can cab it to my car parked at John's job. We'll see what works out best. Maybe I can use them for my Jan 08 Vegas DISmeet and leave the car parked at the airport for the weekend. Thanks for the tip.:thumbsup2 :goodvibes :thumbsup2

SW Air is due to open up their booking window (though Mid Jan) THIS WEEK! They claim on 6/28...but Peg and I have been checking twice daily in case they hedge up a bit.

You may have answered this already, I am so far behind....
but is the picture of the shuttle behind the kids on the Dumbotron? Is that why it is so large?
Jan :earsgirl:

Yes, on the Dumbotron - live feed from NASA before the launch!

Thanks Jackie....I'll check back on Thurs. What are you and Peg checking for? Where are you both off to?
:rolleyes1 popcorn:: :rolleyes1

Thanks for the warning Angie, I'll be wearing a jacket getting on the plane anyway so I guess I'll just keep it on when I get there. We'll have to check and see if they have an indoor pool at the Luxor?

WOW that sounds like fun...take pics of the Walt suite and post them on here for us all to see. Sounds like you'll have a fabulous time with them and an even better time if they actually bring you a gondalier back....

. . . There are so many Californians on this thread... are any of you going to the half marathon or 5K during Labor Day?
Mrs. Woody and I are training for the Disneyland Half Marathon.

Last Saturday we went 10.5 miles (walked to three piers -- Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach).

Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas? . . .

. . . We're considering checking out of our hotel at Rodondo Beach on Fri and driving to Vegas....staying over one night on Fri and flying out on Sat night from there.
If you leave early in the morning, 4-1/2 hours. Friday is a busy travel day to L.V.
I recommend two nights to really experience L.V.

. . . I just checked out hotels and decided that I want to stay at the Luxor . . . it's the pyramid....but I'm going to love it so much that I'm going to want to go back coz we'll only be staying one night there . . .
I would stay more centrally located. We find the corner of L.V. Blvd. and Flamingo Road is ideal (Bellagio, Caesars, Ballys and The Flamingo). It's walking distance to practically everything.

Well........this January when we were there for CES we had snow! :scared1: Now it was a bit in the outskirts of town (about 10 minutes from the strip at my cousins' house) but still....it snowed there! Luckily the hot tub at our condo there is quite large since it was so cold. :lmao:

I have been very busy with our son's wedding in NY and our family reception here in Indy this past Saturday so I am still on page 1220 of our thread.

What is the latest on the travels of Bobby Banana?
When we get that going can we coordinate who he visits next and can we set up a thread about his adventures on our own special SHIP OF THIEVES website?

Wedding was lovely and family party went well. All my stressing led to detail that people appreciated and none of my anxiety was warrented, everyone behaved nicely.

What have I missed? Do I need to read all those pages?
Jan :earsgirl:

Glad the wedding went well. I remember stressing so much over my daughter's wedding and everything ran so smoothly, apart from cool damp wet weather in July!!!:sad2:

We stayed 2 nights and it wasn't enough. We weren't gambling either! There is so much to see. We keep saying we will go back, but unfortunately we won't be able to join the minimeet.

We stayed at that junction, but in a motel just behind Ballys. Good spot.

You know? It's not as big as I had imagined it to be and I didn't care for the tons and tons of shiny wood all over. BUT I'd stay there in a heartbeat if I could ever afford it because of the MASSIVE verandah! It seemed to be about the length of 4 regular verandahs! AWESOME! :thumbsup2 Loved it!

Have a great day everybody! My 1/2 hour of playtime at work every morning before the big boss gets in is about done. :guilty:

We'll be there Wed. through Sun. I'd like to ride Nemo, too, but wonder what the line situation will be. I'd also like to check out the Pirates' Lair if it's not impossibly crowded. I'm driving over Wed. with my nephew (in pic below); his mom (my sis, also in pic) will fly over Fri., our cousin will join us Sat. On Sunday sis & nephew fly home & cousin will come back to AZ with me for a visit.

Anyone ever heard of africam? Hear is the most recent link....
mms://live.wildlife.wavelit.net/afsoiud214
It's a live streaming camera at an actual waterhole at a game reserve in Africa. They are 10 hours ahead of Calif. time. So about 8 or 9 here is early morning there and a good time to watch. We have seen elephant, rhino, lions, zebra, baboons, monkeys, giraffe and much more. Very cool and addicting!

Oh well, just thought I'd throw it out there. Not to many people on right now I guess, or no one is interested enough to respond:confused3 Par for the course!

I am so far behind, I just found this. Went to the site but it is 9:32 AM in Indianapolis so probably the HEAT OF THE DAY in Aftrica. I will leave the window up and try to remember to check it tonight. Cool site! Thanks Bubba for sharing. I look forward to seeing Happy Hour at the Watering Hole tonight.

I know some families whose children with Down Syndrome have taken gymnastics or ballet. It is great exercise, confidence building and helps those young people have a fluidity of motion they would not have otherwise. Very wise parents!! I am glad Sophia's school offers inclusive classes and hope others will as well.

Jan :earsgirl:

.....I've had that link for some time and it can be very interesting. Try the grouse bear cam too. The bears woke up a few weeks ago from hibernation. I, and a few others watched them go into hibernation!.....

Where is that link? When I put Bubba's African link into a webpage I got a streaming video window but no home page to find other webcams.
THANKS in advance, and if someone has asked and answered this already, I will find it soon, I am working to get caught up.
