Yes, I have done a lot of thinking about this. There is a lot we both really care about in this community. The problem is that the community is in decline. My best option would be to find more satisfying employment in or near this community. I have even considered going back to school to get a more advanced legal degree in another area of the law, and the local law school that I went to has just the one I am interested in (L.L.M. in intellectual property). But how does a 46 year old, full time dad, school board member, who works 50+ hours a week find time to go back to school? That is what I am thinking about now . . . School would not be the challenge - the rest of life would - and how would I go on a cruise in May of '08?

Online, of course.....I just did an Excite search for "online advanced law degrees" and came up with a bunch of stuff....you could find the right school for the right program that you want to study and do it online! You could even take your finals while onboard the Magic!...and think of all those nights at the dance studio, you'll have something better to do than gossip with the girls!

Lots to think about . . .

The first week of our cruise with '07 dates was final exam week . . .

Oh, and before I forget Deb, Amy's favorite drink is a Bellini.

Bellini's for Amy!!!!! Bellini's for everyone!!!! We'll be doing lots of those together onboard!!!!
 :dance3:

I did find one quickly . . . $1,000 per credit hour, the local law school is 1/2 THAT!

That $1000 per credit isn't much more than what my school charges. Cooley is $865 per credit hour. :scared: Multiply that by 90 credit hours, plus books, parking, and other expenses. Not looking forward to repaying student loans. VERY scary!

Keep Looking....you'll find more....for $750ish per credit hour, it might be worth it! You always have to pay more for convenience.

Gee, I sure do envy her! At the rate I'm going, I'll be 80 when I retire. :sad2: Unless I win the lotto or marry a guy with a good income. Doesn't have to be a rich guy, just has to make enough to take me on lots of Disney cruises! :yay: (Oh...and pay off my student loans from law school AND undergrad!)

has anybody decided where they're staying the night before the big cruise?

I wanted to stay at the mco Hyatt, but dang it's expensive....so found a motel in cape canaveral- Fawlty Towers- that supposedly includes transportation from the airport and to the port.....for half of what the hyatt is!

Home. I never fly down the night before. Just can't lose that extra day of pay when losing so many already for the cruise. Plus, I'll probably have a class that night I won't be able to miss because we're only allowed to miss 2 classes each semester and the cruise will eat up those absences. ;)

We booked at MCO Hyatt using AAA rate for $159.....

What time does the Magic get to the port on Friday/Saturday? Is there a hotel that you can watch the ship come in?

We will be at a DVC resort at WDW. Not sure which one yet - possibly Beach Club or Saratoga Springs.

REALLY early . . . I have been up before watching from our Verandah as we pull into port, I think the ship pulls in about 4 or 5 in the morning - can't recall for sure, but it IS dark! Not sure if you can see from any of the hotels.

We are going over to our new High School tonight for a Summer Solstice Celebration as we finish our first year there. There is a cruise-in, Band, and since we call the outdoor area near the entrance the "Piazza", we are having Pizza on the Piazza!

We're staying at the Holiday Inn in Cocoa Beach for two nights before cruise...we have a direct oceanfront suite with a balcony...yes, it's expensive, but worth it to us.

Yes, at the hotel where we are staying you can watch the ships come in and out of port. On our last cruise, we watched the Magic go out the night before we left on the Wonder. I looked on DCL website and the Wonder will not be going out the night before our cruise. If we're up at 4 AMish we can watch the Magic come into port all lit up.
 :goodvibes

Sounds like a great way to kick off the weekend....I hope you and Amy have lots of fun!

Well, if I could find some frogs to kiss, that would be a start! They're all hiding in the swamp! :rotfl: Haven't found any since Alejandro. I'll be going to a speed dating event the end of August, so I'll meet a bunch there. Those are so fun! And since I've lost 13 pounds (maybe more, don't know, don't have a scale so I only get weighed at the doctor's office), I'll have even better luck! :goodvibes

I went to a chili cookoff this evening sponsored by the Lansing Board of Water & Light. It was AWESOME! $5.00 to get in, which includes all the chili you can eat. They had 35 participants giving away different kinds of chili and salsa, awards were given for best chili in 8 different categories, and it was a great opportunity to sample different flavors that I never would have considered before. The event was held outside on our river trail. Weather was beautiful, in the 70s, sunny, breezy. I couldn't try all the chilis because the lines were too long at many booths. But I think I had around12 different kinds. My favorite was one called Slap Me Silly Chili, from a restaurant called J.D.'s Smokehouse, and it had smoked briskett in it that had been smoked for 10 hours. Yummy! My 2nd favorite was a buffalo chili from Michigan State University Federal Credit Union. It had buffalo meat instead of beef in it. There were chicken chilis, cold chilis, a chocolate chili, a maple chili, and some too hot to even dare try! Such a fun event! :goodvibes

Everyone is out on the town doing food stuff, lol. I wonder how many are out doing wine/beverage events, hmmmmm

Here in our city we also have the Festival of the Moon (tonight) and Festival of the Sun (tomorrow) going on. I chose the chili cookoff tonight instead of Festival of the Moon because I'd been wanting to do the chili thing ever since I moved here in 2001. So tomorrow I'll probably spend some time at the Festival of the Sun before I pick Tyler up from his dad's. It's a wine tasting event with live music and food vendors. Should be fun because the weather's supposed to be perfect again tomorrow! :thumbsup2 Then when I pick Tyler up, we're going to a Lansing Lugnuts baseball game. http://lansinglugnuts.com/ It's great fun and only $7/person. They have a cute little playground Tyler loves to climb on, a giant inflatable slide, inflatable bounce house, and fireworks after the game. We live very close to downtown where the stadium is, so we hear fireworks all summer long after the baseball games.

Then on Sunday, we'll be hanging out in the pool, except for the middle of the day when we'll go to open skating so Tyler can practice on his hockey skates. The hockey coach let him take the rental skates home with us to practice walking around the house to get his feet used to them since they're such a different feel than figure skates (which they had him use the first 2 classes because they're easier to learn to skate with). :goodvibes
